Garage Door sensor problems

- Thanks to several UA-cam videos, here's how I fixed my garage door problems. I AM NOT A GARAGE DOOR MECHANIC. My garage door wouldn't close when I would push the button. The light would just blink. My sensors were aligned properly, but I noticed the light on the sensors was out. Any tv remote will work, I pointed the tv remote at the green lighted sensor and pushed any button, and the light started flashing on the sensor. I knew it had to be the other sensor was bad. So I changed it out and it fixed my problem.

Stopping by to show my appreciation for this vid!!!!I fixed my garage using this..I found wire had come disconnected due to previous owners using electrical tape and not butt connectors...Thanks again
Awesome glad I could help!
Thanks for the tip. The LED lights on both of my sensors were off. When I shined the TV remote onto the receiving sensor, the entire system came back to life, and for now at least, the system is operating.
Thank you sooooo much. I didn't have to replace anything or call anyone out for service. I followed your video and checked the wires and one of the wires was loose. Thanks a ton!!!
Teresa Cox oh great that’s awesome! That’s why I made the video to spread the knowledge! Good for you!
Mine tooo lol..I alm
Thanks for uploading this tutorial. I replaced both of my garage door sensors today.
That’s awesome nice job! I’m glad it helped.
Thank you I did not even think about replacing the sensors or the brand name of them.
Great trick! (Using remote) it eliminates a lot of guesswork using this! Thanks ever so much.
Yeah I thought that was genius! Glad it worked for you.
My garage door didn't want to close and the lights blinked too. I cleaned off both the sender and receiver windows and fortunately that seems to have solved the problem. I have to clean off spider webs once in a while but this time I couldn't see any but I guess the windows on the units must have had a dirt buildup.
Wowser! Thank you so much for this information! Super helpful and easy to follow.
kimberly mully awesome it was worth making the video then! Thank you!
Good to know. One issue i have is after my garage door hit an objet and reversed. i noticed that both lighta are out.
My issue is that the receiver light stays on (a little wavery) even when the eye is blocked. I assume this means a sensor failure.
Yeah it’s hard to say. This was just an issue I had and fixed it. Maybe try a new sensor and see if that works
This video really helped me figure out what was wrong. I ordered my sensors and let's see if it works. I'll avoid me some extra fees from an expert. I've got experts right here on UA-cam!!! Thank you so much for your help. Who needs a man when we got UA-cam, lol!!!
Janet Ayala awesome Janet!!!! That’s why I posted it! Great job!
My lights are both on. Still comes down a foot and goes back up.
Did you put new sensors in? Did this just start? What about the up/down tension on the door settings? I’m not a garage door guy, but that is what I would start with. Clean off the sensor lenses also and try that.
One of my sensors ligth ia green the other is red but it still opens correctly should i just ignore it?
If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. You should be good.
Both my sensors have a green light and both are lined up but the door still reverses with the light blinking. I did disconnect the sensors at the motor , and the problem still exists.
dean reynolds if it was me I would start with replacing the senors with new ones. I think those can go bad over time. If that doesn’t work then maybe there is something wrong with the motor or something in the tracks.
@@scottsworld21 Taped them together and the door now works fine , new ones on the way.
@@scottsworld21 Ordered new sensors but were completely different from original, after some research I found out that my Liftmaster is older than models from 1997 and up and that sensors from these older models are no longer available {part # 41A4373A } But I found this company on line ….NORTHSHORECOMMERCIALDOOR.COM , and they do carry replacement sensors for these older model Liftmaster, Sears , etc. price is close to $40.00
@@scottsworld21 YES THE OLDER UNITS BOTH SENSORS HAD A GREEN LIGHT-- PUT YOUR FOOT IN BETWEEN THEM, THE UNIT THAT GOES DARK IS THE RECEIVER. MY SEARS ONES WERE LABELED IN SMALL WHITE PRINT AS SEND OR REC. AGAIN THE OLDER UNITS HAD A PLUG IN AT THE SENSOR UNITS AND THAT CONNECTION WOULD FAIL IN TIME DUE TO CORROSION OR TARNISH PROBLEM
Thanks Pal, You're the BEST!!!
It's Jesse from Breaking Bad.
SC1887 LOL!!! Never heard that one! Is it the slow talking or do I look like him?
It’s the voice
Thanks.
Im having problems with my garage door works fine but it opens and closes by itself after a while the other day it open around midnight 😂does anybody have an idea what can be the cause i just replaced the motor
Mine opened the other day on its own as well. I noticed two neighbors were leaving at that time. I think somehow their garage door opening/closing signal is interfering with mine. When they push their button, somehow the signal is getting mixed up and it opens mine. I would call customer service of your new motor. I have a genie and customer service is great.
Man my light won’t turn on am I doing the wiring wrong?
I’m definitely no expert and I’m sure there’s different kinds of sensors. But which light isn’t on? Did you try the remote trick? Did you already replace the sensors?
@@scottsworld21 one of my sensor just needed to replace the other is fine I did everything in every step but it still won’t light up.
@@Lexluger_ did you match the right wires together white on white and blk on blk? You might need to get a multimeter and see if you have power coming from the wire that’s coming out of the wall. If you got power then that sensor may be bad. Are you sure the light is supposed to be on, on that sensor?
Nice trick. Worked for me too. Thanks.
Kyle Woodruff cool glad I could help. Those garages can be pesky little thing!
Good job.
Thanks! Hopefully it helped you.
@@scottsworld21 You’re welcome.
Useful....thanks!
Both of the lights are green , what that mean 😭
El pilón vídeo I’m not sure. Do the remote control trick and that will tell you which one is the receiver sensor. Point the remote at each sensor and hit the power button on the remote, if the light on the sensor blinks, that’s your receiver sensor. If it doesn’t blink that’s your sending sensor.
Thank you!!!
You’re welcome, thank you
Bought new sensors and the lights won't light up.checked all the wiring 3 time, still no luck.
IS IT PLUGGED IN AND THAT OUTLET HAS POWER? ON THE UNIT ITSELF, YOU SHOULD HAVE LIKE 5 VOLTS DC ON THE 2 SCREWS THAT ARE CONNECT TO THE SENSOR WIRES
North Dakota gave up and bought a new opener. Thanks
@
Alright!
THIS GUY DON'T KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING WHAT A JOKE AND HE TRYING TO TELL YOU HOW TO FIX IT LOL THE BLINKING GREEN LIGHT MEANS THE SENCER ISN'T ALINED RIGHT ,HE DOES NEED AND PARTS
Daaaamn you’re so mad about it bro. Chill out it’s not that serious. My garage was broke. I fixed it. I wanted to share my knowledge I learned from others on how I fixed my garage. Look at all the comments and how many I’ve helped with this video. Don’t be so mad about it. I’m sorry you didn’t like it, or if I said something wrong, but I fixed my problem. I can’t believe how mad you are. Lol 😂
@@scottsworld21 What’s up with this “bro” shit? Address someone as sir or madam, or by their name. You’re not black, and there’s no need to try to be. Your ancestral people invented classical music, electricity, space travel, the internet, phones, heating, and modern healthcare. So start acting like it and be proud of your heritage.
@@sheldoncooper0 didn't your wife cheat on you with a black man 🤔 while you were at work bro
@@mistahjefferson8483 that’s just weird… and degenerate.
Got to say, that is easily the WORST fix it video on UA-cam. Even I could have done better. Sorry, but true! And I suck an stuff like this!!
