    well can always use the purge blocks as spacers under stuff just cut to same height ;) dont think this was ready to be released but is nice to see companies like creality moving in that direction the MMU's are the way these printer need to go and with several companies starting to offer that mean it will get better and competitiveness will mean lower prices

    I couldn't agree with you more the CR-X first gen printer is a big miss BUT the future generations should be heaps better. I also think that at the current price point it should include mesh bed leveling and filament run out sensors. Adding those two into the next generation of this printer would be a huge plus for Creality.

    The purge block size can be changed in Cura. There is a setting for the amount of filament to run per purge. You can play with the setting to see how little you can purge and get a clean switch between colors. Or if you have very different colors you can purge more to get really clean prints.
    Of course if you print multiple items at a time there is only one purge block for the run. So that cuts down on the waste per item printed as well. With around 11"x11" of room on the plate you can get a lot of parts in one run. In fact, with a little bit of work you might be able to get all the stuff you showed in the video on the plate in one run.

    I agree 1000%, for the price it should at the least include auto bed levelling

    I've had mine running for about 2 months, daily operation. and the heatbed stopped working. Going to open it up and look around for loose or...? But I've had no issues with it other than that. Flipped the glass top, I didn't like the perforated vinyl surface.

    Great informative video, thanks

    Thanks for the review. Does look very promising. I have a Qidi Tech 1 that has dual heads side-by-side and takes quite a long time for dual color printing. It took six hours for its dual color bench. How long did it take on the CR-X?

    Awesome video. Can I set my CRX as a CR-10S with a profile install?

    Have you already made a video about importing settings for a printer from another version of Cura- like 16.022 to the current Cura 3.4 ?? I have a printer that was given to me and the settings are not good and if you reset to default, it's still not printing good. I know 3.4 has more settings and I am thinking I can take care of my issues either in the slicer or by adjusting the PID. But I'm going for what I think is the likely cause of my issues first.

    If creality designed the machine with separated extruder, I believe it could be a very competitive 3D printing machine.

    you can use multi material but you must have materials that have print temps that are similar to each other pla pva abs hips or pla flex

      @kenjichanhkg 5 років тому

      yes, so we actually can, as I can see other people are doing it

    I have a CR-X for a few days now and it prints the samples fine, but anytime I try to print anything else it will start fine and go 1-2 hours and then it just stops. Everything is on, the hot end and bed still hold their temps fine but it just stops. If I turn the CR-X off and back on it will ask to resume the print. When I choose to resume the print it will run a couple minutes and lay plastic down how it should and where it should and then it just stops again. I have tried restarting several times and it just continues to do this.
    Thoughts? This is my first Creality and I am still pretty new to 3D printing so not sure if I am just doing something wrong or not.
    Thanks

      I don't yet have an answer for that but let me look into it with the printer we have at the shop.

      I tried the case again and it stopped exactly at the same spot . 24% and noticed every time it does this it’s like the computer is locking up. I see constant blinking, but the touch screen doesn’t respond until I restart it. In addition the hot end and bed actually are not maintaining heat when it locks up like this.

    What prevents this printer from being multi-material?

    • @BryanBakerXBrav
      @BryanBakerXBrav 6 років тому +1

      The shared nozzle limits your control with materials at different temps. In theory, you could print with a PLA and PETG for example, however, you'd need to do the following on filament change:
      1) Raise the temp to the higher of the two materials.
      2) Purge the old material.
      3) Adjust the temperature to the proper operating range of the new material.
      4) Continue.
      If the materials have a similar temperature range, you can run both at the higher temp. However, at higher temps, you won't get NEARLY as clean of a print. You may get lucky and be able to blend HIPS and PETG, but since this unit seems to have a PFTE liner, your temperatures will need to be limited below 240°C.
      Ideally, to do multi-material prints, you would want to maintain separate nozzles for each filament feed.

      My understanding is it is due to the nature of other plastics that require higher or lower temps and different settings. Based on the documentation "The filaments recommended by the manufacturer are preferred as to avoid clogging in the extrusion head or Printer damage. The machine is marketed as a dual color not dual material. You could void your warranty by using multi material.

      @@TheFirstLayer so a soluble filament that uses the same temp as PLA should work, in theory?

  • @ScrewYoutubeAndYourAutoNames
    @ScrewYoutubeAndYourAutoNames 6 років тому

    Since it's not supposed to be able to do multi-material... how about doing a video on what happens if you try to do multi material?
    Also won't it be possible to avoid the purge tower by simply printing the infill or inner walls to purge the filament?

    • @kenjichanhkg
      @kenjichanhkg 5 років тому

      yes, why not?

    • @filipefarias3076
      @filipefarias3076 5 років тому

      Clever, that would be the best situation, if not to fully avoid the need, at least to reduce... But let´s say, if given layer infill is not enough to purge, you would end up needing the tower for that layer. Then one layer would need the tower more then the other, what would make a tower with different sections, in the end you could end up needing to build supports for the tower (LOL). But someone could really come up with a solution to this.

    No mention that this machine can not do colour mixing even though similar machines half the price can? Fail by Creality.
