Destiny 2 Lore - How did Caiatl react to Eris Turning into a Hive God? This could be tense...

- Destiny 2's Lore and Story from the Season of the Witch features the reaction of various characters to Eris Morn's transformation into the Hive God of Vengeance. Caiatl is next on our list and she has many reasons to had the Hive God of Deception, Savathun. She should hate this plan, but her pragmatism is giving her the resolve to see the merits of it...

I like how pragmatic Caiatl is about all this. That, and she's basically like "If Eris Morn agrees that I can mount Xivu Arath's head on the front of my flagship, then she has my blessing."
i love it when the top comment spoils the entire video, idk why yt moved the comment section to be right below the video on mobile
And then, the Thornus Diabolicus was created.
Honestly, it feels like presage where she said, "If calus is there, I don't care who drags him from the ship screaming"
@@quietisonline I like reading spoilers in the comment section just to save time. Don't get me wrong, I can listen to Byf all day. Its just that i Usually do it for background noise.
@@quietisonline I love it when people read comments of a video without watching the video first expecting nobody to talk about said video
Your time spent on Dynasty was not wasted.
I’ma go rewatch it later, so dope.
It was an awesome watch. I haven't played destiny for 6yrs either.
Yea, I second this, I've rewatched Dynasty so many times
I appreciate the comment. I didn't intend for it to come across as so dramatic on my end last video :b
Dynasty still represents a great intro to Witch Queen based on what we knew at the time and know going into it blind... Makes the revelations great but man...
If nothing else it reflects on how great the expansion was... Wish I could replay it all for the first time again. Moments of revelation in that campaign were incredible!
I absolutely loved dynasty. I've prolly watched it 4-5 times, and I will be watching it again at some point I know.
that brief pause of realization that he just lost the hammer was felt and understood, 13:00
Every hammer user understands that moment.
Certified solar titan moment
I lol'd
Caiatl is honestly one of the most underrated aspects of the story right now. Across Chosen, Risen, and Haunted, I think she easily has one of my favorite arcs up there with Crow (hoping he gets a big W in Final Shape speaking of which, he's had a lot of personal losses since Risen) and Eris.
Facts. Stable and amazing character development
She seems to have the best quotes and personality too. A truly strong yet compassionate leader.
I concur, really a missed opportunity of LF(amongst may others) to have not seen her face to face with Calus..
Crow sux
Caiatl has quickly become my favorite character. She's brave, tactical, and quite wise despite her youth.
She reminds me of Worf during the time period of DS9.
That hammer yeet, miss and pause at 13:01 was to relatable...
Caiatl is becoming a true leader, she knows that to defeat an enemy you must learn from them.
She already is. If she would have been a bad leader before, the Cabal would be dead by us or Xivu Arath.
Caiatl trusts Eris. That is Huge. Honestly I hoped for something like this. Honestly I can't help but feel the most visceral reaction is going to be from Misraaks. He's... likely not going to be happy about this at all. He has brought his people back into belief in, and love of, the Light. And we stray further and further from it, taking a more balanced view through necessity.
I do think Misraaks will be understanding and not as distant minded on these decisions. After all we had been using Stasis before we teamed up with him.
He knows there are good and bad guardians. Those who wield the light to protect and defend, while others use it for selfish gains. He’s had a rollercoaster to go through but he knows that while the Light and Dark are tools, the Traveler and Black Fleet are still the objects of worship to which certain factions revere.
He has seen our feats of caring and compassion. So at the end of the day he knows the balance between light and dark, and so does Eido.
@@bigf00tgaming37 Mm. Yea. Good point, I can't fault any of that. Color me convinced.
I really enjoy the character growth Caiatl is experiencing, makes for great stories
Next Video: How did Glorbo react to Eris turning into a Hive God?
Glorbo is a very wise individual. I’m sure he understands both the necessity and the concern.
The man the myth the legend, im sure his response will be very reasonable and help eris overcome her troubles being a hive god
@@akischannel1570 If he can get Shaxx and Saladin to bury the hatchet then I’m sure he can be of some assistance to Eris.
I think everyone or the general mindset of Eris going God mode is akin to Caital's. A sort of the end justifies the means if it means we can end this war and truly start to rebuild.
taking back the cabal homeworld would make an amazing season, imagine hive eris posing a powerful presence distracting most of the hive, while the rest of the season is guardians clearing out and freeing areas to get cabal foothold back, that would be a banger
Maybe post final shape? Helping the cabal find a new home
@@Spartan-sz7km THIS, it would be a banger
Bungie needs to make this happen. Would be a fantastic season
Torobatl would be a badass location. Hell maybe we could also go to riis?
I had had the thought a while ago that a great hook for a post-Saga D2 campaign (or an early campaign for Destiny 3) would be an entire expansion devoted to the Reconquest of Torobatl. Imagine that Xivu Arath escapes her fate at the end of this season, or another member of the Osmium Dynasty rises to power, and retreats to Torobatl to plan a counterattack. One episode could be spent on preparing for the journey (perhaps working to earn additional support from the Eliksni/Awoken/Neomuni), one could focus on raiding Athenaeum Worlds for new weapons or tools, and the concluding episode would be the fight on Torobatl itself...the Hive would of course suffer a major defeat but some would live to retreat to another Hive bastion, setting up another future episode for further Hive hijinks.
Eris' transformation is a monumental event in terms of Destiny's story. Elsie didn't take this very well due to her many, many travels to the same dark future, is challenging Xivu's Sword Logic, and as we see in this video, Caiatl's reaction to the new God of Vengeance.
This video made me realize how much Caiatl has grown since we first met her. She went from telling us to bow to if Eris wants to become a hive God then let it be.
I really, really hope that Caiatl gets her revenge in a cutscene. Like, Eris Hive God and Us as Guardians critically wound Xivu, and Caiatl does the finishing blow; as the Cabal warrior she is
I'd love to see a campaign/episode after the final shape where we help Caiatl retake the cabal homeworld from the hive.
I'm desperately hoping that we get to retake the cabal and eliksni homeworlds sometime after final shape. Imagine how awesome it would be to fight alongside Caiatl and Misraaks in order to claim their once lost homes, not to mention all of the narrative and character development possibilities that would come along with it. Hell, they could even give Eramis' story a satisfying end, whether that be through her death while reclaiming Riis or through her finally finding peace after giving her people a true home.
Watching you lob the hammer and pausing watching it near the end. I felt that, as a titan main.
Dude these constant vids are so good. This is definitely gonna be one of Destinys best seasons, maybe even periods. Are we next to become a hive god (Of death)
Now I want the next expansion after The Final Shape to be about taking back torobattl. Would be cool to finally see the destiny universe travel beyond our solar system
I loved the lore. But gameplaywise, 12:59 as you stand there completely still as your hammer goes to the stratosphere is hilarious. Such a relatable moment lmaooo
I’m gonna be honest, I imagined Caital saw eris turn into a hive god, was silent for a solid minute, slowly began reaching for her weapon only for our guardian to push her hand down “no no it’s fine” “okey.”
We also would have accepted "Holdup... let her cook."
Man, I love Byf! Can’t live without this guy! ❤
That’s really pathetic
@@azraelwolfsblood2902u really pathetic. Weird ah dood.

I wondering if "Heresy episode" will be about Caiatl and Xivu fight for torobatl or smth like that...
Omg I'd love to have a way to fight alongside caitl and her forces to reclaim torobatl
We can only hope
13:02 that half second you take to soak in the fact that you just lost your hammer is golden
13:03 Shrike's little pause to look after the hammer going of into the skies 😂
That pause of mourning at 13:01 had me.
Rest in peace, hammer.
I love that moment at 13 minutes, that hammer just sailing off into the distance and Byf's little pause to watch it go XD
New Byf vid at the end of the work day, good time for a bathroom break.
The slight pause to watch the hammer fly away off the map during the Altars gameplay is something I feel in my soul.
Ok, narration besides, I loved the slight pause as the mini hammer goes flying into the distance at 13:00
I gotta say the gameplay has come along way over the years. It’s amazing to watch
Thanks for the hard work!
Dynasty was awesome Byf! You all should be proud of the work you did 😎
Caiatl is my favorite character in all of destiny, she’s always been written in such a way that she seems like a real person.
The lore entry for the interaction is wonderful in my opinion because it shows the importance of Caiatl to the alliance while demonstrating the growth she has undergone starting with Ikora going over strategies for the conversation with Caiatl and ending with Caiatl's reasoning. I do sort of hope Caiatl and Eris work together as a team to finish Xivu building a stronger bond between while satisfying their desire for vengeance. They don't have to land the blow together. It would be fine if Caiatl finishes Xivu while Eris holds Xivu at bay since it is still them working together. My question is how will Caiati finishing Xivu will empower Eris as the god of vengeance, how will it affect her ability to return from being a hive god, and how will Caiatl's people see this? Caiatl may not be an acolyte of Eris, but it is still vengeance and it would be vengeance for an entire world and its people.
Byf this is something that should have been animated. This cinematic would have been amazing. I would definitely pay money to see a content creator reanimate this scene.
13:01 This moment right here. The video shows a hammer titan's soul crack.
This is the type of reaction content I like to see
I still remember when that “Ghosts” lore card came out and everyone was speculating if the cabal where conquering or running, and it turned out to be both. The 4 legions we knew were conquering for Calus (see dunemarchers lore tab) while Ghaul and Caitel were fleeing the hive.
Caiatal; so humble and reasonable for a warrior empress. This was a surprise.
Caiatl’s reaction is my favorite so for “besides if it brings me closer to crushing xivu arath’s skull than it has my blessing” oooh i felt that whole sentence!!!!
Caiatl is just plain inspirational. Not just as a Cabal, not just as the leader of her people, but as an Empress! I'd follow her into battle anytime!
goated video as always
You You know Byf I would back any future projects you have and making cinematics about destiny with $100 I'd rather spend my money on something that I know is going to be put together with honesty and integrity and with us in mind. Thank you for all you've done for this community
if we could go to Torobatl after the Final Shape and get the Cabal their home world back i would be in for it! i love Caiatl's character growth alot
im sorry 13:01 just watching the Hammer go off on its own adventure just made me chuckle a little.
man i really wanna see how would hive eris and crow would react
considering imaru said that crow started the whole scorn thing and knows some of the hive
What I really love about this season in particular, is that we're seeing a parallel to the Dark Future lore book. It shows how fragile this timeline is, and how even one seemingly small decision could have changed everything and doomed us. Another really interesting thing to me is how the damning choices in the Dark Future seemed to be about not taking risks, and not taking those risks is what doomed those timelines. Reminds me of Unveiling "I win, because every time the Gardener stops to sue for piece, I strike."
When we strike back, when we do not stop, this is how we ensure continuous positive momentum and increase the chances of saving the universe from the Witness.
I’m so close to finally catching up after a 9 month hiatus
13:00 A moment every solar Titan feels...regret...
Caiatl's response sent shivers down my spine, holy crap that's amazing
It’s been hinted at since Season of the Chosen that we may go to Torobatl, and the Cabal reclaim it from the Hive
I’d sincerely love an epilogue mission of Guardians helping to reclaim the Cabal and Eliksni homeworlds.
Also byf when you have time, checkout the new little Nadir pistol Heliocentric QSC. Light weight solar pistol with some nice traits, incandescent included. Might do well for your titan over that mida mini.
I got one with frenzy heal clip alloy mag and it works wonders with ember of empyrian. Only downside is its high muzzle climb.
Incandescent and heal clip is a perk combo I’ll be chasing forever man, any weapon I can get it on I will
I really would love to see an expansion after the final shape were we help the eliksni take back their home worlds
Yeah that would be really cool
@@IamaTransgirl I know right
If things go bad, I know who I’m calling…
Randall the Vandal.
I have my own headcannon that should things go wrong, Eris would trust in the guardian to stop her, like we stopped Oryx.
I felt the sadness watching you throw that mini hammer away :( just sort of like “awe, bye buddy…” then turns around and keeps going
I think we'll have A seson this time. Man, only one week through and so many lore!
I think Dynasty is extremely awesome with the insane context that Witch Queen gave.
The cabal empress has grown. Truly a big step for the cabal.
So we got the fallen cabal and hive on our side WHATS NEXT VEX!?!?
...I mean. We have ONE. All we need to do is to upgrade him into Axis Mind.
There's Asher Mir who dived further into the Vex Network. There's a chance he might return but with a subtype of Vex under his control.
She’s not hive. She’s a hybrid
Honestly its not that far of a stretch. Yes the Vex protray a grave threat but im sure even they dont want to let the final shape happen. Enemy of my enemy
There are factions within the Vex collective that do not agree with the majority so we probably are going to see them via Asher Mir
The lore is getting spicy
Holy shit that knocking sound was too real
As a titan main I felt that 13:00
Random idea I had that I think would be really cool. Across all the lore, all the in game history, if you had to make the strongest 6 person fireteam. Who would you choose and why?
The Young Wolf (obviously), Ikora, Osiris (pre-Hunt), Saint-14, Ana Bray and Shin Malphur.
Caiatl is very rapidly becoming one of my favorite characters.
You know this makes me think one of the seasons after the final shape may be us retaking toribatal with the empress
I love the lore video, but when Byf’s hammer flew off into the void… I felt that 😢
Caiatl has gotten the most character development so far.
I know this may seem far fetched, but I think we are going to be able to go to Torobatl sometime after The Final Shape.
lmao caiatl like "listen idk what all y'all doing over there"
I like that there are still Cabal pilots even though psions have taken over most of those positions
Well, Caiatl and the entirety of the cabal fleet could contribute a huge chunk to the "vengeance-battery" for Eris, that's for sure. Though in a way, if there would've been any members left from the people the Hive previously defeated, those would add up to that vengeance as well.
THAT PAUSE XD at 13:01
Lol byf had to watch his hammer go bye bye 😂
13:00 rough. I felt that.
I don't understand why Ikora contacted Caiatl of this news. In season of the deep, Zavala tasked Saladin to convince Caiatl that the resurrection of Savathun was necessary. Was this forgotten or overlooked by Bungie?
That was before the plan shifted to Eris turning hive god to gain power against xivu, that’s what ikora was contacting ciatil for, I bet saladins message and her reaction to it is what led to her response with ikora.
Caiatl was our adversary... But now she's a real one, a real OG o7
Character development, we love to see it.
My expectation, having not read all the lore entries and such yet:
"She fucking did what." -Caiatl
Caiatl really has grown
Man I hope one of the episodes following lightfall is everyone joining arms to retake torabotal
Can confirm I was there, caiatl wanted to nuke the throne world to oblivion....
Hmm, do you imagine one of the expansions after lightfall is us going to the cabal homeworld to help Caiatl retake it?
I'm starting to watch destiny 2 lore videos now, and I started playing the game after just completing the first three DLCs and putting the game down. It seems really neat the direction they've taken the game lore-wise. I'm assuming final shape will be an expansion that you have to pay for, considering I only own whatever edition of the game gave you the first three DLCs and nothing else, will I be able to enjoy most of what the new DLC will have to offer still? I don't mind grinding up my light level to have decent gear.
13:00 I felt that 😬
The fact that Eris isn’t in any of the Final Shape trailers does make me worry about her.
They’ve proven several times now that being a long standing character doesn’t make you immune to death by writers, and as someone pointed out, if Caiatl gets the final blow in on Xivu Arath, she would be acting on the vengeance of an entire world, and such an immense tithe could unintentionally overwhelm or permanently transform Eris.
Why did I start to tear up at Caital's reaction to Eris's plan? Funny how a video game can inspire such emotions when it's done well.
♥️✌️
She was also willing to destroy the dreaming city to annihilate the Hive sister
As a titan, that hammer throw on the last witch is sad and hilarious
Two thoughts; I agree that Caiatl's change since the Season of the Worthy is another example of great characters and storytelling from the team at Bungie. She's gone from a disposed ruler to a possible enemy to now a valued ally who has fought side by side with us on multiple occasions. I'd love to see her and Hive God Eris fighting side by side by the end of this or next season's end. Second, I would LOVE to see one of the episodes where we help the Cabal and maybe even the Elinski go and reclaim their lost worlds. We would get to fight on other worlds that would give the art and design folks a great opportunity to stretch their creative juices; who doesn't want to see a whole Cabal planet? A whole Elinski planet?
I love destiny because the way it is written, this could have been part of Savathun’s planning all along. From the destruction of torabatl all the way until now. Crazy
I really wonder, does Bungies story Team make a once a week meeting to listen all of Byfs new Videos to see how close he is with theories? If I were part of such a team I'd 100% do this 🤣
I feel like i have a really good understanding of hive lore thanks dynasty and the complete story of destiny...
But, cabal are a bit hard to follow. I feel like i barely know the cabal. Any chance on a dynasty level video of the cabal?
Ikora: uuhh Empress…we kinda need to revive savathun to save the traveler…and everyone else…😰
Empress Cital:…aight
Ikora:🤨😮💨
The clear possibility that Savathun may well have turned Xivu loose on Torobatl for the purpose of driving Caiatl into the Coalition in the first place... Well, in a way it makes Caiatl's pragmatic assessment more impressive, but also damn that's grim.
i wonder how the power scale will be after the final shape rn besides the witness, mara, eris and the two other hive gods are the strongest beings in the system, and since now we have our own hive god what will be stronger than it my theory is that the vex will be able to simulate light and dark thus making them the biggest threat one so that even gods cant deal with
I really hope we can take back the Cabal homeworld in a future season. That would be so awesome!!
Fairly certain it exploded
@@Alak-Hul_DarkbladeCaiatl mentioned that it still exists during Haunted, although in all likelihood choked with Hive resin and reduced to rubble.
I couldn’t find the drifter lore on this
So I think everyone can agree that Mithrax is Bungie’s new take on The Arbiter, but now I’m starting to think Caiatl is the analogue for The Shipmaster from the days of Halo.
Level-headed, trusting to those who earn it, fearless. I’d say it fits.
