- Destiny 2's Lore and Story from the Season of the Witch shows us how Commander Zavala & the Last City reacted to Eris Morn's ascension into the Hive god of Vengeance. The Commander has to deal with conflicting feelings about the moral complexity of the situation. Meanwhile, rumors swirl about the Last City concerning Eris Morn's transformations. It's clear that an air of distrust is building, regardless of the noble intentions that Eris harbours.

I'm wondering if after everything with the witness is dealt with there will be an expansion or just a seasonal plot about a civil war of sorts in the Last City. There are some rogue Guardians, like the ones that tried to rebel against Zavala, that are hiding somewhere in the Sol system. That would be pretty interesting.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Concordat entered the scene for something like this considering they'e been recruiting guardians to their side now and again
@@SonnyBb0yMaybe. Honestly, we’ve gotten some allusion to the return of the Concordat. But it’s questionable if they’ve even survived long enough to still be around. What with the chaos that’s consumed Sol much worse in recent years. The Black Fleet, Hive, or Shadow Legion could’ve taken them out long ago, or recently. Still, I think, while after defeating the Witness, Sol could become mostly peaceful enough to build our own second Golden Age, the Concordat would only be one of several obstacles in the Coalition’s combined effort to rebuild and reclaim what was lost from the Collapse. The Scorn, Hive, possibly the Taken, and Vex for example, could remain a problem. As for the Shadow Legion and Fallen like the House of Dusk, they’ve become scattered and unorganized enough to where they aren’t much of an immediate, big threat.
I hope we can be choose whether to revolt or not might be fun
I had this speculation that, after the Witness is killed and it’s forces routed from Sol, while the rest are imprisoned in a repaired Prison of Elders, and other prisons under the Coalition, Sol would become peaceful enough for us to rebuild and reclaim what we’d lost in the first Collapse. But it’s becoming more clear, there will still be a few obstacles in the way of the Coalition’s restoration efforts of Sol, and the system that humanity’s forebears once held. With the combined skills, knowledge, and resources of the Coalition, we’ve never been in a better position to regain the history of the Golden Age, and pre-Golden Age, as well as lost inventions, technology, and other assets. But this reclamation can’t happen with the remaining threats to us still around. There’s bound to be a few stragglers out for themselves if not the dead leader they followed.
Were there really guardians rebelling against Zavala? I thought it was just the citizens, and partly because they didn't like Guardians using Darkness powers.
My aggressive frame Ammit Auto Rifle will solve all these problems were having.
Lore like this and the effects on the city makes me wonder how Echoes will play out. It feels like it might be 'damage control' post Final Shape
As if the “echos” of the events and actions that transpired to prevent the Final Shape, will have consequences. The echos being the consequences and reactions of many that lived to deal with what happened, and the new world that’s arisen from the choices made, and the affects on the Traveler and Veil. Yeah, it’ll be a time of great change for everyone to adjust to: Exos, Humans, Cabal, Elksni, Vex, Scorn, Taken, Hive. Funny enough, I feel those that may adjust to the new era they’ll find themselves in, may be the Awoken. Earth shattering events between the Light and Dark is what defined them, and is a big event in their history. Considering that Mara and her people had been fighting the “eternal war” to defeat the Witness, and had been preparing for supposed centuries, the next question of how to proceed falls to Mara. But, I feel she may have some of her people rebuild and recover, while most of her forces remain vigilant. Even if the Witness is dead in the new saga, it’s legacy could be continued by others, or simply, there are many enemies that the Coalition has amassed to be wary of.
@@garrettviewegh9028the Awoken still have a, potentially, very dangerous foe to face.... the other awoken from the distributary that refused to join Mara and stayed there.
Seeing as time passes *a lot* faster there, if some were to come out now, it would have been thousands upon thousands of years for them since Mara left. One can only wonder what advances they could have made in such a large span of peaceful time, how their hierarchy would be structured without her, and wether or not they would still remain loyal to her, or consider her an enemy for "abandoning them".
@@voltus20 depending on whether or not her mother disclosed the fact that Mara was the first, they might hate her much more than someone who left them. They've overthrown Alis Li because they thought she denied them immortality.
@@RichardWatterson-t3c well, it's scientifically demonstrated that people get less and less reasonable and capable of logical processing, the bigger the mass of people gets. It's crowd mentality, and when you're in a huge crowd, and people start to panic, you panic too. That's just how humans are wired to work. And that's exactly what Lakhsmi tried to leverage during season of the splicer in order to convince the people of the city to rebel, via fear and panic.
It's been long enough since Lysander's coup attempt for most of the humans that lived through it to have already died, and if real life history is any indication, humanity is very prone to repeating past mistakes.
All Lysander would need is leverage that fear and hate for the darkness, to get some guardians that are against using darkness powers on his side, and tip the scales enough to cause a rebellion, of both civilians *and* guardians. And the last time we had risen on risen war, the dark age happened.
It could be the perfect starter for a new saga. A civil war breaks out, the Vanguard is forced to leave the city to avoid more bloodshed on civilians, and this time it's our allies who help us find a way to settle the war, with it birthing a new enemy faction:
Lysander's Banner (or just The Concordat, like the faction was used to be called). A conglomerate of humans and purist guardians opposed to the Vanguard and the alliance of species they now belong to.
I absolutely LOVE how you dropped Lysander's name into the hat. If there's any potential story beat/arc I'd love to see in the post "Light Vs. Dark Saga" universe, it's the re-emergence of The Concordat. Lightbearer Vs. Lightbearer. Guardian Vs. Guardian. Not just in Crucible but in the story itself!
11:05 glad someone still remembers Lysander. The lore on his sparrow always stuck with me...
He's gotta be enjoying every second of what's happened these last few years
The amount of "Trust" said during this video would make Drifter happy, I'm sure. xD
You know, I just thought of something. If another Guardian shot our Guardian’s ghost (and their own if need be) and ‘won’ on Neomuna, wouldn’t the Witness turn to The Last City, turn it to cubes like that one Titan, and proceed to throw the biggest paracausal temper tantrum ever? We had to “let them win” to trap them in the Traveler. I know it’s unrelated I just couldn’t sit on this.
That sounds… reasonable
eve if we "won" by shooting Ghost, whats stopping them from sending Xivu in Calus's place?
That was a lose-lose situation.
Either allow the witness access to the traveler through the connection to the veil, or lose *the* guardian that has kept humanity from the brink for so long, eventually leading to an inevitable loss for humanity.
@voltus20 ok but hear me out here:
Afaik ,There was no explanation given as to why the Guardian couldn't just strand yoink ghost out of the air. No indication of any suppression of powers, and we just spent the whole campaign getting strand shoved down our throats (including a literal 80s training montage)
Maybe there's something I'm missing. But it felt like such a tremendous oversight that I couldn't take that scene seriously. Shooting ghost should be the last option, period, but there's no reason given for it being the only one.
Nah our character just fucked up big time.
We’ve been killing hive for years but when we kill hive for “power” oh no we’re the bad guys. We’ve been killing hive for power for years! Cough cough let’s do Crotas end for powerful gear lol
Unfortunately I have bigger problems to deal with than the citizens opinions. Want to leave the last city go right ahead but I'm busy trying to save the traveler and beat the witness
Quite frankly, if they don't like it, they can leave.
We're trying to prevent the entire freakin' universe from ending over here. We don't have the time to debate whether we're doing the morally correct thing or not.
And at this point, I don't think "the right thing" even exists. There's what needs to be done to keep the City safe, and nothing else.
Side note: I see what Savathun meant back in the Season of the Lost; we're not heroes. We're Guardians. Huge difference.
Exactly bro if I had the option, I’d literally walk around the city and kick out the ones talking shit about us and the vanguard. Don’t like us saving everyone by whatever means necessary? Out you go and see how long you’ll last out there without us doing all your dirty work
Perfectly said, to Eliksni, Cabal and Hive, we're an unstoppable Tyrant that anything they throw at us, gets thrown back
Enforcers instead of Guardians.
@@runningoutofnames3CS The thing is that corruption is a real thing. If our player didn't have plot armour, we'd be full Dredgen Yor by now. He was basically the player guardian of his time. Bungie has screwed up by not having corruption take the spotlight in a season, so too many of the players hear the citizens concerns and think "well they're just whining and stupid". Not realising that these powers literally turn people evil. They're not just a new colour of grenade. They turn what were once great heroes into the worst villains the city has ever seen. But the playerbase doesn't see that happen, so to them, corruption doesn't exist.
I honestly hope that the Concordat actually gets a role in the story that isn't just lore.
Maybe after the final shape.
Saying the Concordat has a role in lore is generous at that, an incredibly minor presence in late d1 and 1 name only mention in Beyond Light is barely there. I believe Bungie has given up on the rogue Concordat. The exiled New Monarchy and Dead Orbit guys have more importance in lore right now.
Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.
Excuse me, what?

I would love some more lore on Lysander I mean this guy is possibly still out there and if he does show up post final shape it'll be very interstgin how it would turn out
It’s hard to say if he and his faction haven’t died from old age, or died to one of the many minions of the Witness. But, like the Vex, he’s probably lying in wait for the perfect moment-to spark another civil war in the City.
You and me both!! I love and miss the cities factions and all the city breakaway characters
Lysander is a boogeyman at this point.
I hope that in the final season, because of us using Darkness, Hive Guardians, aiding Savathun and Eris turning into a Hive God, we get to fight against human rebels.
Dark age 2, military dictatorship boogaloo!
You are on to something, I don't see how the events of Splicer didn't spark a civil war
@@Carolinafan85Well, it kinda did. If Lakshmi hadn't died so quickly after starting it, New Monarchy might not have run away, and if they hadn't run, Dead Orbit might still be around, too.
@@SymbioteMullet FWC and NM had loyal guardians who wouldn't have turned on there faction just because Ikora asked them to , Bungie put a nice bow on things, but we all know if that happened in real life it would have ended badly, and blood would have been spilt, if I was a FWC supporter I would find Lakshmi's death a little too convenient for the Vanguard, and would probably seek answers by force, several Ghosts would die
@Carolinafan85 Finding her body surrounded by vex after her declaring she's being attacked by Vex is a little sus, yeah.
One suggestion I’d have might be a Lysander comprehensive guide video for everyone newer, so if he does come back (and it’s a helluva time for him to) we all know and if not he’s a cool character and faction story anyway
Great idea
While we are in the subject, I am still surprised that the fact that we had allied with the Cabal Ascendancy has not led to further outcry and division.
Sure they may not be living inside our walls, at least prior to Seraph, but consider the following.
It has be only a few years since the Red War, when Dominus Ghaul had completely occupied the Last City and managed to break the seeming invincibility of the Guardians further by caging the Traveller. Even afterwards, we had to deal with his surviving army until Chosen, when Empress Caiatl was actively reaching out to the Red Legion remnants. If I recall, our first boss in Chosen was a know war criminal at the Red War. Even if they had been expelled from the ranks after Lord Saladin's appointment as a Bracus, allying with someone who had ties with Ghaul is not a good look.
It is not helped that by the time of Caiatl's arrival, we only had the accounts of the exiled Emperor Calus to work with. While greatly embellished, it was for the longest time our only source on Cabal history. In particular, the Midnight Coup had Caiatl betray her own father for Ghaul's regime.
Had knowledge of that been circulating around at least the VanNet by Chosen, many would be calling for Cabal blood by the time Zavala and 'Osiris' met her, just as Saladin once had.
That's a good point but I'm willing to guess caitl or someone explained the alliance or coalition
Going from watching the Diamond League final to this is just how I pictured my Saturday going.
11:50 Wouldn't be surprised if Bungie just silently had him killed off. Having a human enemy seems too creative for them at this point. It'll always be an alien species that'll be the enemy for every major expansion and even season. In Season of the Splicer, Lakshmi was more of a secondary antagonist to Savathun and Quria working in the shadows.
There's a very simple reason as to why we don't have human enemies.
The game rating. The moment you show up the player actively killing humans, the rating goes up to mature.
So either bungie makes us fight rogue guardians or humans get offed of-screen.
@@voltus20 Even for Lightbearers, they had to use one of the alien species in the series.
@@voltus20 I've always thought it was the character size and rigs. Aliens move in ways that are fun to fight and believable. Imagine trying to fight a human sized enemy with Destiny combat that moves like a human. They'd be way too easy to fight. If you don't have them move like humans, then they don't feel human enough.
There is a post Final Shape expansion, a sort of epilogue, a tidy up as it were I am given to understand. Plus a look-see to the future as well. How short the memories of the Citizenry are!! Guardians were not always "Guardians" as I recall. Warlords, Brigands, Thieves etc, I think it took the Iron Lords and others to whittle down, weed out the evil from the good as far as Light Bearers were concerned. T'was the Speaker, and the Vanguard, plus Ghosts that led New Lights into becoming Guardians......
Thanks for the hard work
I have been looking for this exact thing I guess I'll watch the video thanks byf.
There's also lady effrideet. Wherever she's located. That could also be a place of sanctuary for the last city

...this is how you know things aren't as dire as bungie's writers try to make it seem; there's still room to write in grudges and opportunists.
If the vast, expansive universe was truly on the verge of annihilation, there wouldn't be room for the bullpocky.
Course there would be, times like that are when opportunists, defeatists and doomsayers come crawling out of the woodwork. They'd be having a field day in the shadow of annihilation.
Lysander and Taox are both sipping tea on the other side of the Final Shape, waiting for us to defeat the Witness like Bane waited for Batman to return to the Batcave- exhausted and easy to crush.
Something i would find interesting.
After the final shape and in one of the episodes. Have a story of the last city is actually turning against guardians.
Imagine a mission where we have to escape the city with enemies and civilians both shooting at us. If just 1 civilian gets killed we fail.
(or an exotic mission under the same circumstances where we are infultrating to retrieve something powerful)
0:15-0:20. Sick pun Byf.
Lysander showing up with a human enemy faction would be really cool
Dude I’ve been playing so much armored core that I even forgot a bit about destiny 2 man… I barely did the weekly and then got right back to ac
Wise words sir.
Holy crap the concordat!!!!! I completely forgot about them! Please let that be next seasons focus Bungie. That would wrap it all together so nicely
Ok at some point were gonna have to address the people of the city cause oh boy are things bad on that side
Byf I'm curious about your thoughts on the major story beats that the final shape needs to answer in order to wrap up this story properly.
If Lysander was going to make a move, he would have been in the clear to do so for a few years already. Maybe he has, right under our noses. Or, perhaps fear keeps him from his true potential. One has to learn to let go to know how to drift…

Some sort of civil war theme would be cool even for a season after final shape tho they could take it as far as to make a whole dlc on the theme
I'm confused how can Zavala view the travller from his office window, isn't the travel well out of the city at this point in time?
A riot or civil war plot / sub plot in this game would be interesting as hell
I may not be caught up on something...who is Lysander?
There isn't much room in the story before final shape for civil unrest or warfare. It will probably be a post final shape plotline.
All three of my Guardians have either never cared or become jaded by the attitudes of the citizens of the Last City. They’re now Guardians of all humanity (and its allies), but don’t really care what happens to the Last City itself (except my Titan, poor guy. Still has hope in the average person).
We can't fight our enemies if we are fighting amongst ourselves
If we wait we DIE-Commander Zavala
Ignore my comment on your most recent video. I just found this one that answers my questions lol. Thank you.
So I'm not sure if they're still kicking or if Shin Malfur has gotten them all but I can see the Shadows of Yor benefiting alot from this, on the topic of Shin, I wonder how he's taking all of this, do you think he's got us in his cross-hairs
From what I can recall the Shadows of Yor was basically disbanded around the time of Forsaken, with the last nail in the coffin being Drifter's "Sanitization" of the Dregen title through Gambit. By the time of Beyond Light the Shadows' goal was complete and they didn't need to exist anymore.
@@S3Cs4uN8 That said, there are a whole bunch of new corrupted Guardians so unless Shin has literally retired he's probably still going around killing Guardians that are going too far off the deep end. He achieved his goal and got Guardians to start using darkness, but he should be dealing with the consequences of that.
@@ASpaceOstrich Judging by how that one Praxic Warlock has had to start doing Shin's old job I think it's safe to say he's not really doing it all that much anymore.
The idea of Lysander returning is very interesting, but it feels like it was a trail that went cold years ago, as Bungie's attention has shifted to other titles, and they got rid of factions over 2 years ago, with faction wars being gone for even longer. I don't think Lysander will ever appear in-game or in the lore ever again, as interesting as that may be.
putting my money on lysander never getting screen time in this destiny. have a feeling hes just another character with a name and thats it (regardless of the lore behind him) would be a dark turn in the story if at some point were attacked by humans and have to actually kill them. that would be an amazing turn of events story wise
It's been awhile since we heard much about him and his group
Ive been wondering whats next after the witness whos the next 'big bad' personally I think itll be the vex since they seem to be hinting heavoly toeards that but I think a far more interesting enemy would be a group od rogue guardians, think the the scorn and uldren, I think a guardian with a personal vendetta against the last city with a group of other guardians fighting with them would be a new dynamic that we the players havent ever really had to properly face, its not the same as the crucible or gambit thats a competition, it would be like saying someone getting assaulted on the street is thr same as an MMA fight, I think it would give several characyers like zavala, saladin, shax some reflection back to the collapse era there is alot of stoty opportunity there and alot of possibilities to flesh out other characters who I feel deserve it
Who is lysander ?? I am not aware or remember that name at the moment…
And people say we are better than Neomuna....
I think we will get into a real allience with Savathun too and that would be the total breaking point. I would love a season or an expantion about this disstress in the last city. Especially with the political situration today, that would be a great topic.
Zavala is a bad ass! One of my top favorite characters in the game.
Would you really be ok if your local Govt and authorities were crazy space zombie warriors who are meddling with forces they don’t understand?
The Vanguard sucks in dealing with the people of the Last City.
With all this strain in the city where is Lysander?
Everytime i think of lightfalls end i wonder why strand wasn't used to grab our ghost? why was nimbus so slow to react? why didn't caital or osiris take executive charge and shoot? our gaurdians hesitation is entirely understandable, but with all the tools and people in play, you'd think immediate failure wasn't in the cards.
Yeah I find that it's just a complete writing failure, we have two people who can fly two people who are ready to just do what needs to be done and no one does anything in time, I was shocked our guarding even pointed his gun at ghost not because oh we might have to kill him, no because why not just fly The whole boss fight before this I was just circling calus flying around him why did I just stand there
Osiris isn’t there, and Caital doesn’t have a gun in the scene (presumably because she either lost or ditched it in the fight outside), Nimbus tho…yeah, I got nothing.
Maybe he believed the Guardian would take the shot, and didn’t act as a result?
As for Strand…the best reason I’ve got is simply…we weren’t thinking clearly. I know it’s an answer that’ll definitely get people mad at me, but considering the context (A vague message from Osiris about SOMETHING going on with our Ghost, to Caital specifically pushing for us to “destroy it” right when we see what’s happening), I can kinda understand the Guardian not thinking through every possible option they had at hand.
At least personally watching the scene for the first time, I know that the idea of using Strand didn’t even occur to me until after, so…
Hindsight, you know?
Who the heck is Lysander? I haven't heard of this Lysander.
Didn't out ghost mention that he recognized Immaru's voice in Witch Queen? Is there any Lore for that?
Ghost mentions that he remembered Immaru (although he wasn’t called Immaru back then) from before he revived Savathûn.
He was apparently a known dick even before joining the Hive.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Last City does get full details of what's happening to Eris a cult is founded in her name and belief in the sword logic begins to crop up. Like how Osiris is with his cult.
If a guardian loses his ghost can another ghost heal and bring him back to life?
Unfortunately, no. Guardians that die after their Ghost is destroyed or while they are otherwise disconnected from the Light (e.g. Darkness Zones, the original Thorn, or the Cabal's Light-suppressing technology) suffer a final death and cannot be revived by other Ghosts.
@@falsetto6455funny btw, in destiny one when you go and listen to the master chief Easter egg, our ghost says he tried reviving him before finding us. So a bit of a lore fail there
Correct me if I’m wrong but didnt a ghost revive shin as baby then almost immediately get killed by fallen. This leading Shin to eventually grow up meet Jaren then get his ghost later
Possibly but if the the Gaurdian becomes lightless then dies then probably not
@@tiredinsomniac4057yea that did happen but if shin died for example before he met Jarens Ghost he might not have been able to get resurrected if another tried to ress him
(Obviously what I am saying reflects no way poorly on Byf, but bungie) - Man, hearing you say that we are the Guardian who failed on Neomuna just didn’t hit. I know we “did” fail I just wish it felt like it. Nothing from Lightfall clicks or feels relevant. Good video btw.
That's because the 'fail state' that occurred is so distant and "Big Picture" that it's hard to even recognize it as a failure. Outside of the whole Final Shape thing we largely succeeded on the ground, especially as far as the Neomuni would be concerned, as we killed Calus and massively hampered the Shadow Legion occupation of their city leaving them directionless and disorganized.
It's hard to feel like we lost when all tangible indicators are showing we won.
Someone tell Byf that it isn't the "Lost" city, nor is it the Last city anymore.
What if as a joke we were able to play as the enemy races. An eliksni guardian, hive guardian, or taken
Taken is a little extreme.
But the rest? Possible
Honestly I’m almost wondering if we’re going to have the rug pulled out from underneath us again by having a reveal of the world isn’t grey but it is black and white. The darkness isn’t natural and was made by the witness’s people, the hive guardians are good but the rest is bad, the traveler does care and has been looking for a replacement equal to the witness’s species this whole time and found it in humanity. Things that don’t seem earth shattering but because of everything we’ve been through it would hold up a mirror to us and make us realize we fell for a lie and have been getting corrupted this whole time.
10:10
Incorrect... You know how Nimbus flys up and grabs our ghost after it makes the connection? Yeah if he had done that literally 10 seconds earlier, everything after lightfall wouldn't of happened... So everything thats happening now is literally all Nimbus's fault.
I say it's more just the writing fault, WE CAN FLY we just finished a whole boss fight where we've been circling the whole room flying, and You're telling me Osiris and caiatl wouldn't be two people who just do what needs to be done and shot our ghost for us
Lysander?
I get the distrust but what if we killed our ghost and then the Witness still won? “The guardian” would have lost his ghost just after the Witness arrived in Sol no matter what. That was such an anxiety producing moment for me. Just a quick second but I was was distressed lol
I'm suprised we aren't being judged or ridiculed for this action actually. Where we didn't shoot our ghost and allow the witness to win, there's been nothing or reprimaned or judgement of any kind for our failure and wish there was something at least
So, basically the Witness entering the Traveler and it trying to enact the Final Shape is pretty much our fault... Wow. This reminds me of Spec ops the line a little bit. Maybe Guardians aren't really heroes or guardians at all. I think The Final Shape will probably be our redemption.
I don’t know man, it should be said that even if we shot our ghost and prevented the link in that moment, that wouldn’t have saved us. The Witness could just come to Neomuna to establish the link itself, or send another disciple to do it, or just send the pyramids to raze the Last City. All while we would have just rendered ourselves lightless, so we would have been even more fucked than we are now.
So the Witness entering the Traveller is hardly our fault, it most likely would’ve happened either way
What's there for us to be redeemed for?, the outcome of Lightfall's campaign was a lose-lose situation, there was nothing we could do that would have resulted in a good outcome.
@@S3Cs4uN8 good point
In terms of us failing in lightfall because we couldn't shoot our ghost, the last city's citizens can suck it. They have no idea who ghost is to us and what he means to us and they probably just see him as a convenient little floating robot who can heal and revive us when he is so much more, which shows part of the citizens' ignorance for me
I was very invested in the narrative util Ahsa got involved. For me, it's almost impossible for us to lose both Eris and Ahsa, even more difficult after what Sloane says about what she would do if Ahsa got hurt.
I was pretty intrigued about whether or not Eris would be corrupted, but now, it's pretty clear that she won't be.
Eris wouldn't do something if it wouldn't somehow benefit humanity and honestly eris is the only one who could pull off such a feat and emerge loyalty unswayed

Who is this Lysander Character?
Who is Lysander ?
Lyasander is the leader of the concordat, a faction that was kicked from the tower, but are still active. I believe God Byf has a video on them.
But how did the Skrank Gang react?
Who the heck is Lysander? This is the first time I’ve heard of this guy. Surely it’s not Lysander from Pokémon X and Y trying to destroy the world to maintain its beauty
He was the leader of a former Consensus faction, the Concordat, that tried to stage a coup in the distant past to turn the Last City into a military dictatorship with Lysander as the Dictator. He, and the lightbearers he had on his side, were defeated in the city at the place that would go on to become the Bannerfall crucible map by New Monarchy and its Lightbearer followers.
The Concordat and all its followers were then exiled from the Last City and the Future War Cult was raised up into the Consensus Council to take their place. Seems to be something of a curse on that chair.
Sounds Like Bungie might be setting up the return of Lysander and the concordat.
Old enemies do have a trend of coming back
Characters not getting corrupted has really harmed the narrative I think. Players don't get why theres this distrust of power because to them, its just free power. Our player guardian has corruption plot armour sure, but at this point corruption is basically an informed attribute rather than something actually in the plot. There needs to be some big high profile moments of corruption in the game. As part of the main plot, not some exotic quest that's only vaguely canon. There should have been at least one season where corrupt guardians was the plotline. Because the playerbase does not really believe corruption is a thing. Not really. They might say they do, but as long as it never, ever comes up in the narrative, it won't be seen as real.
EDIT: you can see it in the comments. "well if they don't like it, they can just leave". The idea that the citizens concerns might be valid never even occurs to a lot of players, because corruption doesn't exist as a real tangible threat for most players. Dredgen Yor was basically the player guardian of his time. If we didn't have player character plot armour, we would have fallen to corruption long ago. Corruption needs to have a place in the narrative for the story to make sense. They've gone too hard into the "light is not good" angle and have made a lot of the playerbase think these darkness powers are harmless.
If Guardians were meant for public relations, we wouldn't come out of the grave with a rating for any weapon we can get our hands on.
They’ll like us when we win.
100%, the Citizens of the Last City are basically just [insert sports team] fans, They're just pissy we "lost" a match.
@@S3Cs4uN8yeah like literally they're just ignoring every other victory we've had and only focusing like the few defeats
Lysander is a dead concept in Destiny, much like the Cult of the Trinary Star. He’s something that Bungie has no plans to ever touch on and has ultimately been left in the dust. A name that echos in the dustiest halls of the Cryptography.
Isn't Lysander the guy who worships Nezric.
Indeed
Lysander has been so irrelevant at this point that I don't care to see him in the story anymore, especially given the stakes of Final Shape. A civil war within the city doesn't make sense after the civilians wait for Guardians to save the universe. Final Shape must be so uneventful for civilians given that they'll likely never see or experience the culmination of the Light and Darkness saga
Reminds me of the situation in America right now...on a different level of course....but still. 🤔🤔 listening to this video, makes me wonder....what will be the breaking point here in America.....Interesting....anyway, this Eris situation is not gonna end well..even if she's successful. 🤔
I borderline hate a large portion of the people of the city. I understand the ones that fear the Eliksni and the Cabal given that the former have been raiding settlements since the collapse and the latter sacked the city, but I doubt many of them have ever even seen so much as a thrall since you dont typically find them on Earth. Also, if they dont trust the Vanguard or the guardians, they could have left with Dead Orbit or strike off on their own like Hawthorne did as a kid.
Instead they want to take the city that the guardians built and have been protecting, like how do they think that's going to play out they're going to not like us anymore and tell us to go and we're just going to...... Leave? The ones who build and been protecting the place, The citizens are very ignorant of everything we've been fighting and dealing with I mean at this point we're dealing with a universal wide collapse sometimes you got to make allies with previous enemies when your foe is just that powerful
I want to remind that in the EB future eris morn is the witch queen, corupting all the guardians
Just sayin, we are getin here somehow
Who is “Lisanda” ?
Leader of a faction banished from the city prior to the events of the series. The concordant, I think.
Makes me angry that everyone seems to forget how much our Guardian has done for humanity. To expect us to sacrifice ourselves is fine. But to kill the one who has been with us since the beginning? The reason we’re even there? That too much a sacrifice for me.
Especially considering we didn't even need to shoot him like we can fly That skateboard guy I forgot his name he can fly if he wasn't so fucking slow, then Osiris and caiatl are definitely two people who would have made that choice for us and shot our ghost anyways
Listening to the lore lately is making not t trust the speakers reminds me of RL religion.
The citizens can bugger off if they're that paranoid, the 2nd apocalypse is coming and I'll be damn if i survive it with wishful thinking alone.
I rather my guardian be hated and live then died and be loved
I mean I feel like the city is just very ignorant to exactly THE FUCK WERE FIGHTING The witness is basically like extinction personified I feel like at least at the moment all previous prejudices can disappear for the moment
It's time to get over Lysander, they are probably never doing anything related to him.
Meep
Lance is Deddick
Everything is TITHING.... sorry I mean tying in together
if only we see this shit..
I always dislike stories where the powerful have to protect the weak humans, then said humans don't appreciate everything that was done for them. If I was a guardian I'll be doing my own thing
I am Alpharius.
No one likes stasis users, The Vanguard, Last City civilians, House Light, Lucent Hive, pvp players, not even Bungie themselves given the current viability of Revenant and Behemoth.
