Love your videos, been in the hobby since 1986(yes I’m old) but enjoy seeing you keep our hobby alive and bringing it to the next generation. Thumbs up from across the pond (Long Island New York)
What I used to use was 3 tanks of dead rich, full throttle run where the buggy could only roll at 5-10mph, at best due to dead rich. Lots of lube gets through the engine, kept cool. The 4th tank is spent getting it to 80% of tune. 5th tank, 1st half is getting it tuned, then the 2nd half is fun time.
Thank you so much man, got one of these bad boys as a gift, wasn't quite sure how to break in, completely new to nitro 😅, this video will help a lot, god bless you man 🙏🔥
Firstly you’ve come along way since when you first started out. It’s an absolute pleasure to watch your vlogs. Could you please do a video on both buggy’s. Hobao and khyosho on speed test runs and handling and anything else you’d like to test them for. I’m interested in buying one or the other thanks mate keep up the great work
Would like to know the performance of both cars and which one out of the two you would prefer then that would be the buggy I’ll purchase. Thanks again 🚗
I couldn't really compare this with the Hyper SS Truggy as they're different platforms, Buggies are more agile and quicker than truggies. Truggies have bigger wheels & larger ground clearance so you can go a bit further off road with them. The Kyosho is a great car, it just needs a steel spur gear. I had to upgrade mine straight away as the plastic one stripped :) I think you get more for your money with Hobao.
TheRCBiker yes I see your point. Thanks again for the info. They are both nice RC cars I will look into it a bit more. will you be doing another video on both cars for performance of your choice
I love the Kyosho Inferno platform. This new Neo is so beautiful :D Love the tires! I have a all greened out MP9 tki3 and my friend has a Neo 2.0. Awesome times when were driving :D Greetings from Sweden! Btw, you should get a Zoom voice recorder or something with a dead cat so we can here your voice better outside :)

Hello, Love your videos and have been following them for break-in and tuning! You have been very helpful. I'm also new into nitro and I just bought this model. I followed everything exactly as you have done with it, however, when I give it half throttle, it only moves a little bit. I tried adjusting the high-speed needle to lean it out slightly and the engine cut out. I have not adjusted the needles otherwise since it is a new model. any suggestions here as I go to tanks 5 and 6 Thanks!
There's no such thing as a best place, fuel type, glow plug, outdoor temperature just to name a few are factors that influence optimum setting I could have three identical engines but they may all require a different setting Watch my videos and tune it according to how it's running
Excellent video, understood the break in, nice and clear. Did you use or remove the kyosho supplied break in disk ? Can you tell me LSN factory setting? Is it flush with the black housing? I've checked the manual and tried google , but nothing as far as # turns out, have read in general, its flush with black housing. Any way to check how many turns out your LSN is on your inferno? Thank you very much. Keep up the great tutorial videos.
Im completely new to nitro. How do you know when its perfectly tuned in or youre on the "right spot" ? Also when do you now when its ready for bashing? Do i have to put some 4w to protect the engine or components from dirt?
Hello, what is 4w? It'll be tuned properly when it's running at good temperature and "sounds" good. You can also go by the amount of smoke being emitted from the exhaust. If you watch some of my bashing videos you'll see some engines that are tuned reasonably well
Hi Josh. Can I run my 4 double A batteries straight to my receiver box and bypass the on and off switch? Due to hard bashing n jumps,.sometimes my servos twitch and its as off there's interference. Dodgy switch im sure. Any other suggestions? Cheers. Nitro newbee
Hi i’m quite new here. On average how long does a nitro engine last if your using every weekend? Ive read some where it can last around 8 gallons or less. Is this true?
Difficult to say but if you look after them they'll last years!! In terms of fuel amount it's pretty hard to say. 8 gallons is about 35 litres which is about 7 bottles of Nitro. That is quite a lot of fuel for such a small engine! But it will take you surprisingly a long time to work through 8 gallons!
Hello, I start in thermal and my engine takes its turns and idles well but smokes much more than in the video with fuel droplets coming out of the exhaust, the other day I burned two new glowplug in 1 only full ... I don't really see where it comes from, the mid range niddle ? thanks you (i have a 3,5cc motor)
Hi Jojo, it sounds like it's running rich. Fouling plugs and spitting fuel are both normal during break in, but if you're getting through plugs like that you might need to lean it out a bit. Probably on the HSN.
Nice, you can't go wrong with a Hyper 7! www.modelsport.co.uk/hobao-hyper-7-tq2-rtr-buggy-with-hyper-21-turbo-engine-2-4ghz-radio-black/rc-car-products/403868
Are the car parks always empty when Bournemouth fc playing yesterday 🤣, just joking. Anyway I like would you to mention every car specs like its ... clutch bell/spur/gear sizes etc, because I think its good to know . Last thing can try to swap different size clutchbell overs to see it advantages.
Hi there When you say exhaust is flooded... what do you mean? Sounds like the carb is set extremely rich thus sending too much fuel through to the engine. Or, fuel is travelling down the back pressure line to the exhaust. Do you have the fuel lines connected up correctly?
Just 1 tank at iddle seems too short to me..I always run at least 5 tanks at idle (allowing to cool down between tanks), then start slow driving for another 3-5 tanks, before progressively leaning the engine and running it faster. All in, probably 15 tanks before I go full throttle. I know it's probably OTT but never had an engine blowing up in 16 years and the engines last very long
In my honest opinion it is very OTT but of course is up to you :) We all achieve the same result in the end. These ABC type engines actually need very little break in, hence why some manufacturers (traxxas included) have you driving the car on the first tank!
@@TheRCBiker well coming from an engineering background, most companies nowadays tell the customer what they want to hear, hence running in tends to disappear as a process, even on new cars. Agree, manufacturing technology has progressed etc but at the end of the day, engines, machines in general are still not made of cryptonite. Personally, I tend to take extra care and over-service stuff. The only trouble I've ever had with nitro engines is with ones I've bought second hand. @@dimi911 I agree.. you certainly can't go wrong by doing more tanks than what they say. I do always stress that 5 tanks is the minimum and it's still very "new" after that. I do find myself running it rich and avoiding long stretches of full throttle for at least another 3 tanks after :)
5 tanks has worked fine for the 100+ engines I've broken in... On the contrary some people say they've never broken in their engine and never had an issue!

It’s not in the manual. Thank you in advance. Thank you for this video. Do you do consulting @thercbiker
If you haven't touched the Low speed and the engine is running OK then do not touch it... The factory settings are only "safe" settings, they rarely are the best settings for the engine. HSN not sure on defaults but flush it to edges and do 1 turn in, and then just tune for performance

@@TheRCBiker Great video--very helpful! Did you use the supplied Kyosho break-in disk?

Any 6v Hump Pack will be fine :)
What nitro would you recommend inferno neo 3.0 or inferno mp9 tki4? One is 349.99 USD (neo) other is 474.99 USD (mp9).
I've not had the MP9. But the Neo 3.0 was good, although I'd look into getting a Hyper 7 instead as IMO you get more for your money.
TheRCBiker, after the first tank, I will turn the high-speed needle back to factory setting for the 2nd tank?
No, no need to do that

Break in is a complete myth, same with cars and bikes, in actual fact you’ll achieve better compression and a higher performing engine as a result if you just put the engine under load, if you idle an engine you polish the bores and this is not the best surface for compression, the rings need to seat in the bores and this only happens under high load, when the cylinder pressures rise the rings expand and seat causing them to wear and seat to the bore to provide good compression, this won’t happen once they are polished and tempered from excessive idle, I would only ever idle for 5 mins to warm the engine, then give it some stick!!
I wouldn't say "complete myth" is entirely accurate
I've broken in hundreds of engines various different ways and never had any adverse affects
