Kyosho Inferno Neo 3.0 Readyset Can You Race It ????

- In this video I talk about my Kyosho Inferno Neo 3.0 Readyset. Some say its sold as a "basher" but I disagree. I explain what I did to the car to prepare it for racing and how I set it up and my plans for future upgrades.
I'd like to race my Neo 3.0 non-competitively but there are no tracks or organizations near me. I have upgraded the diffs to a 4 spider, eliminated the pull start, swapped the tires to JConcepts Kosmos with Avid wheels, Protek 4 shoe clutch, metal spur and the air cleaner for the MP9.
Cheap tip- mp9 sway bar sets used all over eBay swap right on. I've got both the neo and tki4 and have done just that. Paid $3 shipped for my set on my neo.
@@bustedaw11 I know this post is old but I pulled the Neo off the shelf and started running it again. Since then I did add front/rear sway bars, a much better steering servo and the big ticket item the HD coated big bore shocks front/rear with light blue springs. I'll test them this weekend at the track but I can already tell they are a huge upgrade.
Hello. I put a 2 speed gearbox. It’s just amazing.
What did you get the gear box off?
Thanks for the video and for sharing your modifications.
Your welcome, it was fun to mod. Once racing starts up again in the UK I will post some videos of it racing
Thanks a lot. For Xmas, I have bought one for my son. Wish you to have a happy new year festivals.
Please post a video of this at the track when you can
Will do! I am desperate to get out and race, here in the UK we are still in Lockdown. There will be a couple more mods on the car by the time racing starts up again too.
Thanks a lot Matt from Italy, I've also a kyosho Neo 3.0 but VE Electric model. It's interesting to see the video to understand the secrets of the model
Great videos, info I can use.
Thanks, if you need any further info just ask away
I don’t know in UK but in French competitions you need to have translucent glasses on your bodywork the dark tanned are not accepted
Can I put like a jconcept body on the neo
Thanks for video, bought for my son for Christmas. Think he wants to try and race the car. Any chance you could lost the extra parts and I can search for them. Cheers
Thanks for your comments, leave it with me and I will list the parts when I am back in the workshop tomorrow

If you need any help just post here or PM me for more info.
Thanks,
Matt.
Great thanks, just got to 3/4 throttle break-in. I will add them to the modelsport basket, I may need to buy another car for me as my boy has had enough of sharing this week 🤣🤣
Thx for a good and informative video! Do you use the rtr radio system (KT-231P+ is it?) for racing or have you switched it out for something else?
Hi, I switched the radio gear to a stick based system. I have been using RC models since 1990 and just cant get to grips with a wheels and trigger set up
Thanks for the video I’ve been looking for more on this model. What are your thoughts on the mp9 compared to this car? I’m debating between those two and can’t decide if it’s actually worth the extra money?
The MP9 readyset has more advanced suspension settings and has higher grade shock absorber mounts. If you are serious about racing I would go for the MP9 RTR but an occasional racer I would go for the NEO
Nice
Did you ever have the diff issue where it starts to wear out? I saw online that the stock ring gear is aluminum? Now kyosho got steel ones available now.
Hi, thanks for your message. I have ragged my car a lot during racing this year and I havent had diff wear. I put this down to when I rebuild the diffs I put a small amount of normal grease on the bevels before filling them with Silicon Diff Fluid.
Ciao Matt. Posso chiederti quale olio usi per i differenziali?
Ciao, io uso 7000 all'anteriore, 5000 al centro e 3000 o 5000 al posteriore che dipende dalle condizioni della pista
Is it possible to race this buggy I just got one in a trade and planning swapping out the tires for a racing proline tires! Also my buggy has a werks b2 engine
Yes, I raced mine a lot. Tune the engine and fit bitter tyres and it’s a great racer
Hello. Can you please tell me if the fail safe is activated out of the box. Or we should set it. I destroyed my car this afternoon. Thanks
Hi, to be honest I don't know. As soon as I got my car I replaced the radio gear with a sticks transmitter and RX
Thanks for your feedback. I don’t if I would build it again.
@@MA-bq8yg after the crash did you check the charge levels of the receiver pack?
Ciao... Bel video...
Pensi che con una kyosho inferno mp777 wc Edition potrei andare in pista? O è un modello troppo vecchio?
Ciao, grazie per il tuo commento. Sì, l'auto di cui parli funzionerebbe perfettamente Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes the car you mention would work perfectly
@@birchwoodracing🖐️ ciao hai cambiato anche le torri delle sospensioni con quelle rinforzate?
@@Jorge-ib4xk No, li ho lasciati di serie.
What are the springs from as I can't find them for a neo.. What other ones fit.. Cheers Paul
Hi Paul, the springs I used were Kyosho Parts IS106-814 on the back, and IF350-714 on the front. I got them from Kyoshospares on Ebay who are based near Reading UK.
@@birchwoodracing hi Matt awesome videos I’ve found them really helpful just wondering with the springs when I searched the part number on eBay it says they’re for the mp9? Will they still fit the standard shocks from the neo 3.0?
What would you recommend for shock towers these are pretty weak.
I have the kit towers fitted, not managed to break one yet.
Look for mp7.5 towers. I think king headz had some decent t ones. Anything mp7.5 is a direct fit seeing as how the neo actually is the 7.5.
@@bustedaw11 I just got a front integy for a mp777 it fit perfect
@@ls1_cammeroh i wasn't sure if the mp777 would work. I know there were some changes but I can't remember what anymore. How you like it?
@@bustedaw11 I took the chance and tried it. The picture on eBay and the stock one looked like all the holes were in the right spot. Sure enough fits perfect. Landed the car right on the shock tower didn’t bend like the stock one so I’m super happy with it going to order the rear now.
What tires are you running on it
On Astroturf I run Schumacher minie pins in yellow with the inner and outer rows of pins cut off to reduce grip roll, on grass I run schumacher minispikes again with the inner and outer rows of spikes removed. On Dirt I run AKA Impacts.
Can I use a different body on the neo 3.0
Yes,, look through some of my other videos there is a part number for the clear body that I painted in my own colourscheme for the NEO 3.0
@@birchwoodracing I’m talking about like jconepts or proline they do sell for 8th scale but not for a neo I was wondering if other buggys body’s will work!
1st thing to do is change that pathetic plastic spur gear what a joke that is kyosho smart idea putting a plastic spur in a 1/8 buggy
TL:DR can you race this car? Yes.....if you swap out half of the car parts.
I raced it straight out of the box
