Great review as always. For a simple handbrake with questionable build quality I think this costs too much overall. 20 euros for an adapter is absolutely greedy and that's without considering horrendous shipping prices, which is fanatec's signature thing at this point.
Seems to be sporadic build quality yeah. The adapter is a bit rich but their incentive is to keep people within their eco-system. I think it’s not the end of the world, as I see the €20 saved of you don’t need one as a subsidy for being a loyal Fanatec wheelbase user. Had mine only 3 weeks before it broke and still wait for them send me me a return label back to replace mine mean while I went and got the Heusinkveld handbrake as I could not wait anymore on fanatec so good review as always LD
They've never sent me a pre paid label. I had to pay for return shipping (to Fanatec) for two broken ClubSport Shifters and a Podium DD2. I didn't get my money back for the shipping for about a month as that's how long it took for each of those items to be fixed and returned to me. They don't trust their verified customers regardless of how much they've spent. In my case about $5000 over three years.
The Fanatec one is a ok unit and gets the job done - but compared to the Heusinkveld - I would definitely spend the extra 100 euro without blinking. The HE feels so much better - and the build quality is way better. The whole unit is just on another level! This is a no brainer if you ask me - even though I like Fanatecs products - this one just didn't hit the mark for me. (Or it did - until I tried the HE :p )
Seen all the good reviews i bought one, the plastic washer explode the first week and the potentiometer started failing after two months, also the handle became flimsy and I try tightening the side nut but end up over tightening and it failed because there's a plastic part where the nut screw in to it and can fail if abused it. After no more that three months the handbrake is non working and given that i live outside the us is expensive to send the item to damaged to get it fixed, internal parts quality is not that good. I'm looking at alternatives that can handle my heavy hand and the abuse it must endure, it may be a good product for a casual gamer but it needs a soft hand or it will fail fast.
@@LaurenceDusoswa my simucube 2 pro and HE sprints slash fanatec shifters and f1 carbon setup is almost complete can’t wait now to maybe get 3090 or wait to see if any 3080 to versions drop early next year
@@LaurenceDusoswa look? What is this, Barbie's playhouse? 🤣 The mounting plate seems to be specifically made for an aluminum profile rig but I imagine it could be made to work with others.
When you downloaded the drivers for the usb adapter did it work straight away for you? I downloaded the driver for it and handbrake does not work it just says 'Waiting for input' on the game im trying to use it on. thanks
@@will-i-am It's the first handbrake I have so I can't compare it to others. In Dirt Rally2 sometimes the handbrake is on, I have to disconnect the cable and reconnect but I don't know if it is caused by the handbrake or the game. It also happens that sometimes it is not very linear but in general the feeling is good, it's a good handbrake but expensive.
3:23 "and it looks great" - not it looks like a cheap toy, not a real handbrake! Shame this was made by Fanatec. Definitely a DO NOT BUY category. There are many better HB available on internet for the same price
@@LaurenceDusoswa no, it only gave input when the jack was halfway out of the plug AND whoever assembled it stuck the black cord THROUGH the spring so every time I pulled it, it was crushing the wires inside

I've had mine for 6 months, its gets daily abuse on Dirt rally and I've never had an issue so far.

I had one of those for a few years. Never worked well for me. I get the AioLogs handbrake and it’s perfect. Works great.

Yeah the HE one is better. Harder to mount and not as nice looking though.

Yep I had mine explode after this video too. I can recommend the heusinkveld, VNM and Meca. I’m currently reviewing the Simagic and moza offering also

Was happy with mine. Sold it a few months back to upgrade to the HE unit, and think it was money well spent.
Yeah I want to try the HE but I have nowhere to mount it and I don’t think it fits in with the look of my rig
