My sister in-law’s Honda eu3000 decided not to run when she started the generator. I found your video and watched it a few times before I attempted servicing the carburetor. I loved your video and the detailed instructions. With your helpful advice, I was able to get the generator running again. Great job with the video and Thank You!
Thank you so much. We're getting ready for Hurricane Milton landfall tomorrow. My friend, who has a 23 year old son paralyzed from the neck down, needs this generator to get them through. Your video was so helpful, although I wasn't able to get the jets out because of lack of a right sized screwdriver as well as that black plastic screw....I didn't want to screw with it. So we loaded it up with new gas a lot of sea foam and used a lot of carb cleaner through all the ports, and it's running great. Little hesitation here and there so we'll let it run hot for a while and let the seafoam do its work. Thanks so much. Blessings. Jeff
You're very welcome! you can use the strands of a wire to poke through the jet holes the tiny plastic screw is the Idle Jet. so if it runs rough at low rpms just clean that one again. after this huracane season is all done. I bought my EU3000is as a backup during the COVID lockdown in the event we lose power for whatever reason. I try running it at least every 3-4 months for about 30 minutes. It recently started surging and I figured it's due to old bad gas. I saw another video that suggested running it under load which I did, and it seemed to fix the problem, for now. My next step is to drain about 1/3 tank of gas and add a bit of fresh gas. However, I have a feeling that at some point I'm gonna have to remove the carburetor and clean it as shown on your video. Doing it at first seemed a bit intimidating, but after watching your video, I am positive I will have an amazing outcome. Before storing my generator, I leave it running and shut the gas off until it dies. However, I never thought to open the fuel bowl drain valve which I did this last time. I was surprised to see that there was still some gas left in it. Thanks again for the amazing tutorial video.
I’ve had my generator for a long time with no issues. About two weeks ago it would not start. Thanks for your video. Had to take it apart a couple times but now it’s running smooth. Very good video helpful thank you.
Very good video....I have one of these generators that's been sitting and does not want to start. So I am looking to do this same operation... well done!!!
I have same generator. Two years old and maybe 12 hours total use on it. My carb got gummed up and it wouldn’t start. I Took it to the Honda dealer and they told me it’s cheaper just to replace the carb than try to clean it and troubleshoot it. Either way, the bottom line is unless you run your generator at least once a month you will have problems. Even if you use stabilizer in your gas and turn the gas off and run it dry, the carb still will gum up. He says if you let it sit for more than two weeks you should drain the carb. My generator is for emergency power supply and seldom is used. I learned my lesson and now have alerts on my phone to run it every month. You would think for $2500 Honda could produce a generator that didn’t need to be run every two weeks. My Walmart Mtd snowblower sits for 7 months at a time and starts every winter no problem. Anyway, thanks for the video.

Thanks for this, gave me the confidence to do it myself. Before reinstalling the carb I want to replace the filter "straw" that sticks up into the fuel tank. Is it possible to remove the petcock from the bottom of the tank without removing all of the panels? I'm hoping the petcock will come out and I can just pull the straw down and insert a new one. I can't find video of anyone actually removing this part. Thanks!
You have explained it beautifully.. Good presentation. One thing to ask.My generator EU 30is is showing starting problem. The technician cleaned and reinstalled it.But the machine goes to smooth running after 3 or 4 stops. The tecnician told to replace carburetor and its quite expensive. Now its ten years old. A thorough cleaning can make the machine run smoothly? Or have to replace it.Please suggest.

Great video. I cleaned the carburetor. Changed oil and plug. Still won't start. If I sqirt gass straight in the carburetor it runs. But won't start again unless I sqirt gass straight in. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!
Could be low compression how many hours on the unit? is the air cleaner dirty? have the valves been adjusted? and did you clean the tiny holes in the jets and emulsion tubelike i did? sorry for all the questions im just trying to help
I have the EU2000i, and that seems to be more accessible than the EU3000is. I had to clean my 2000 once and that just seems a little easier to remove/install than the 3000.
Tremendous video. Thank you. My primary jet is in the carb so tight that I can't get it out. So, I sprayed it with 10w40 and am letting it soak. I'm afraid to strip to top of the screwdriver slot. Any thoughts?
Sorry to hear that. if its still too tight after the soak. grab a stove lighter and flip the carb upside down and hit the jet with the flame for a few minutes then try again. metals expand with heat and that might break the bond between the brass jet and aluminum carb. of course be very carful not to burn yourself. if this video was helpful feel free to hit the Sub Button :)
Awesome! Less complicated than the Holly and Rochester 4 bbl's I used to rebuild, but an awesome video to refresh an old mind! Thank you! :) Having said that, I always used to have to re-calibrate the fuel floats on them in automotive. Is that not an issue here? Thanks again!
Your video was really helpful. I have a EU3000is that someone gave me and it wouldn't start. And it was completely full of old gas. I emptied the old gas and cleaned out the carb and it started easily but sputtered when idling and died when I put a minimal load on it. I cleaned the carb again but the second time it looked pretty good still. Same result. It smoothes out when I pull out the choke halfway. With 1/2 choke it is running great and even with heavy load. Any thoughts?
well done! Yes remove the fuel petcock and check the screen that gos in the tank. also clean the sediment bowl. iv'e seen those be partially clogged and starve the carb of fuel due to bad flow.
I was able to take out the main jet but the nozzle wouldn’t come out? Every thing else went accordingly ... why was I not able to get the nozzle out? Any recommendations? FYI:Thanks to you .... it’s running fine now ... Thanks
the Gunk kind of glues it in place. if you remove the main jet again open the choke and with a flat screw driver push the nozzle down. then tap the carb on a hard surface covered by a cloth. it should come out. those tiny holes need cleaning if it's too stuck to come out. and don"t forget to subscribe to help the channel grow!
Yes grab a flathead screwdriver and insert it where the choke butterfly is or the throttle. you should see the little tube sticking out in the center of the carburator, push it down with the screw driver then tap the caburator until it falls off. also feel free to subscribe to the channel :)
I'll be simply replacing the carb for the unit I'm working on. So heavily varnished. The bowl was really bad; a little spray would not clean that. I couldn't get the main jet to unscrew... stripped the head... now some brass particle in it cuz the carb cleaner won't spray through and compressed air won't either. I probably messed up on that screw cuz my screwdriver wasn't a perfect fit and it surely needed to be to overcome the bond. I see carb prices anywhere from 35-65 bucks. Are all carbs the same for the last 20 years on the EU3000is? (Another weird thing -- there was no oil in this unit. I don't think it ever ran... just been sitting. Think they tried to put some gas in there... it wouldn't start cuz of low oil shutoff protection... and left the fuel in there for who knows how long.) Here is how to spell carb: carburetor.
Highly likely it was not used then. thanks for catching my misspelling I can't believe it went unnoticed for that long. I suggest you go to parts tree and enter your Generator serial Number and buy an Original Honda Carb for your unit. you can reuse the stepper motor for it no prob there.
@@immortalengines1605 Thanks. And I've never heard of Parts Tree but I have not just been there. I remember doing a 4-barrel Holley carb in high school many moons ago... don't think I got all the pieces back in that one. Thanks for the tips on this one. No UA-cam back then.
Hey, I have a newer generator same model, I just changed the oil but the oil warning light still on, oil level is fine also the eco throttle switch is not working, or idle is not working. What could the problem be?
I have this generator for 10 years and need to get a tune up on it. I saw your other video about changing the oil, spark plug, air filter, but the carburetor is way too complex for me. Are there places that I can bring it to service the clean the carburetor? I live in Brooklyn NYC and Albany NY.
It's not too complex follow this video and do it yourself. Unless you want to wait a few weeks for a shop and spend a few hundred bucks. just play this video next to the generator and follow the steps read all the comments of people like yourself that tried it and succeeded.
@@immortalengines1605 OK... thnx bro. Time to lift up my confidence and give it a try. I've never done anything with a engine but change spark plugs, ignition coil, air filter, change oil. The very basic stuff. But you're right about the cost and the wait time if I had it done at a shop.
I just picked up a eu3000 for $300, runs for 3-4 seconds before dying. Will be doing a carb clean following your instructions and a full service. When i peeked down the spark plug hole, i see a lot of carbon build up on the piston. What do you recommend to remedy carbon buildup? Thanks for your help!
wow great find! What I do about carbon build up is remove the cylinder head and wire brush the piston and head itself. however doing that on the Eu3000Is is a huge pain! I would say clean the carb flush the tank and clean the sediment bowl by the fuel valve then make sure it has oil when you go to fire it up let it run for 3-5 minutes then do an oil change while the oil is warm. also don't forget to subscribe!
SEAFOAM!!!!!!! Seafoam is made to clean the carbon deposits. Watch some other videos about seafoam if you want. But I use it in ALL our vehicles now. Fuel economy went back up 10%-25% on EVERY vehicle. (all over 200k miles, this will NOT make a huge difference in a new car.)
What replacement batteries do you recommend for these? I seem to get only about 1yr on a battery and that’s just running it every other month for 20 min
@@immortalengines1605 I tried very hard to take off the fuel tank but the rubber fuel lines are sharply tightened with the silver clamp. They don't even move😩
hey good video, did the eco mode work properly after installing the carb, on mine i have the eco mode not working after installing carb. it was working before i took it off and cleaned it up. i have an eu3000is ser.# ezgf-1346605. Any suggestion on fixing the eco mode or do you have any videos on it. all videos on carb installations with eco mode don't talk about the eco mode, how to get it working properly again, won't kick up after it kicks down to low idle. Is it a screw adjustment or rear flap on carb. sticking
you might have done something wrong take it back apart and double check everything. remove the motor and spring and make sure the butterfly flap open and closes extremely easily and re assemble

@@marutipalakkad clean carb one more time and check the strainer that's located in the fuel valve right where it goes inside the tank. While there drain all old fuel and add new clean one for reasembly. If it still tuns poorly. Buy a knockoff carb from Amazon for $20-30 and enjoy 😉
Very good job and instructional..Thanks..Where do you get parts for the carburetor like jets and gaskets etc? ..Thx

Excellent video..!!
Great job, thanks for that.
Hi thanks for the information. Plz share how to adjust idling fuelling. Thanks Suresh
clean the pilot jet that's on the outside
I have the EU2000i, and that seems to be more accessible than the EU3000is. I had to clean my 2000 once and that just seems a little easier to remove/install than the 3000.
_Bravo master._
Very well instructions!!!
Nice job man. Thanks for
Awesome! Less complicated than the Holly and Rochester 4 bbl's I used to rebuild, but an awesome video to refresh an old mind! Thank you! :) Having said that, I always used to have to re-calibrate the fuel floats on them in automotive. Is that not an issue here? Thanks again!
Glad it helped. there is no adjustment for the floats on these carbs.
Thank you for the awesome video!
Awesome video, thanks
for those of you who own a Honda 3000 generator, would you rather have a 2200 or 3200 with the fuel injection (no carburetor)?
Like ery much...smart young man...

Thanks . Had to oder a gasket set other than that it's easy thanks 😊
Glad it helped! feel free to like and sub :)
@@immortalengines1605 I did thanks

Thank you!!
Good info on the video.........THANKS
Glad it was helpful!
Great video
Excellent job, thank you very much.
you are very welcome!
Very helpful!
Excellent!
nice video. thank you!
Good job.
Great info
Good video my is EU 3000i
I was able to take out the main jet but the nozzle wouldn’t come out? Every thing else went accordingly ... why was I not able to get the nozzle out? Any recommendations? FYI:Thanks to you .... it’s running fine now ... Thanks
the Gunk kind of glues it in place. if you remove the main jet again open the choke and with a flat screw driver push the nozzle down. then tap the carb on a hard surface covered by a cloth. it should come out. those tiny holes need cleaning if it's too stuck to come out. and don"t forget to subscribe to help the channel grow!
Good job
Thanks now I’m going to do mine!
Let us know how it goes!
Cleaning the carb didn’t help. Still runs only with open choke. What else should I look for?
prob clean it again. if not you can buy a replacement carb on amazon for not that much.
Great video bro!
Great informations and Subscribe! Cheers.
Great video. But..wait.. did you forget to tighten that bowl screw? ;)
I'm pretty sure at 11:16 you can see me aligning the drain screw and snugging up the bowl screw. unless you were being sarcastic then you got me.
@@immortalengines1605 Absolute sarcasm. :)
I unscrewed the main jet but only one piece fell out do I need to force the other piece out in my case?
A video well done
excellent and clear

Hey, I have a newer generator same model, I just changed the oil but the oil warning light still on, oil level is fine also the eco throttle switch is not working, or idle is not working. What could the problem be?
Bad inverter board. there is no way to fix it you must replace the whole thing
@@dezfyah cleaning a carburetor is a great skill to know. because chances are it wont be the last time you will need to clean it.

(all over 200k miles, this will NOT make a huge difference in a new car.)
thank you
What replacement batteries do you recommend for these? I seem to get only about 1yr on a battery and that’s just running it every other month for 20 min
batteries get permanently damaged when the voltage is low so either add a tender to it or just disconnect it to extend it's life
can i use wd-40 on a rusty crankcase(fuel tank) of my Honda generator. Please reply🙄
No it WD-40 wont do anything, search my channel there is a video of me showing how to clean tank rust!
@@immortalengines1605 Ok, thanks for the quick reply, i will give it a try
