Something to take into consideration for anyone looking into GS is that MHWIB gives a lot of ways to ensure you get a window on the monster. You can bonk them into a wall for an easy true charged slash, you can stun them with traps, you can use the environmental traps, you can use the palico trap etc. Another point missed here is that GS has very good aerial mounting damage, and a very easy to spam ledge attack. So mounting is another window for a TCS. Utilize 2-3 of these free windows and land a few lesser charged attacks or even just the normal attacks, and most early game monsters go down pretty quickly.
