Probably the most surprising thing I learned today was that, ZSD costs zero sharpness to do. Elemental Discharge on the other hand, does deplete sharpness. This weapon is a gift that keeps on giving
So I'm replaying MHW. I was a lance main for life, and still consider myself one. I'm doing swaxe this time around and this is my feeling The most fun experience ever while using it The most regrettable weapon choice when not in a hunt. I always feel excited and joyful when using the weapon in combat, but as soon as I'm out of the quest all I can think of is the lacking mobility (evade extender is almost a necessity), the long recovery time from attacks, only getting earplugs 4 during a ZSD. Then, once I enter combat again, you just forget all of it.
Another drawback of this weapon is the slow sheating time. I think the versatility of this weapon is why it feels so good to use though. Btw, exhaust phial charge faster, so when you do a mount finisher you will be fully amped.
@@tyHar0 Did i say it was the weapon with the slowest sheathe time? Is it faster then the 2 weapons you mentioned? Does that make it fast or are the other 11 weapons faster? What i said was pretty accurate i think . . . Its clearly not one of the weapon's strenght no matter what anyone says lol
I didn't mind that tbh, I was more surprised with how many hits it took to amp it there. As my reaction speed is slow, it took me quite a long time to adjust to rise's combat speed, so i took quite a lot of hits, which made amping a rather daunting task.
@@painsenpai01 Yep, that counter called Elemental Burst Counter is how a swaxe player can instantly amp. In world, you can amp power phials with two double slashes and one heavenward flurry. In rise, it takes 3 double slash and 3 heavenward flurry to amp power phials. Thing is, you unlock the counter move at master rank so there's gonna be quite some fights before you get to instant amp
@@painsenpai01 Although it technically could, from what i remember in world, people mostly use it because of the increased sword bar recovery over the increased amp effect. Besides, swaxe in rise already has extra must-have skills like rapid morph so getting focus may not be cheap. I argue that getting evade window/extender is more important as, if you're not getting hit, amping is less of a problem.
Im a charge blade main and i fear that its impossible for me to beat fatalis using CB since im not a pro at using this weapon. Even against rajang I'm so helpless on CB. I'm wondering whether it's worth it to learn a new weapon at this point (switch axe, in this casee) for the sole purpose of being able to farm fatalis.
Here's a very important tip since charge blade was my secondary weapon before I changed to switch axe. The hardest thing to get used to, coming from cb is not morphing after a hop. Pressing morph after hopping will make you manual morph You NEVER want to manual morph with this, always make sure to either attack or roll before pressing the morph button and you're gold, basically.
1:02 As a DB main I have to state the obvious, our reach is the absolute worst in the entire game, forcing most of us to find high ground or just spam flash pods on Airborne monsters to actually do something. But hey, at least the Dps is savage and more mobility plus the always satisfying Levi Spin attack.
@@carlstirlingschannel good luck with that, but the thing i dislike about LS is how low skill ceiling it is. all 14 weapon category used to be really unique.
Honestly, I'm more of a low skill floor high skill ceiling kinda guy. This weapon punishes me far less than charge blade did, which is why I made the switch.

This is the weapon that I use to break fatalis' head for my bros lol, that ZSD is a lifesaver

Honestly, main reason i didn't list that was because... The comparison i had was charge blade. Swaxe sheathe time to me felt like hammer's.

I give: Boom booms
Monsters get: Flinch and knockdown
Switch axe is a dance with the monster. Rather than zero sum the whole fight, use the axe more often. Getting that overhead swing feels so meaty
Ooo yeah especially after the wild swings. That animation is chefs kiss.
This is my second favorite weapon ive always been a fan of axe like weapons in games and what’s better to have an axe that can also be a sword
Okay, I'll pick up switch ace again🙄
