It's nice to hear how much they're listening to critiques, even telling you not to play certain weapons since they're changing them so much.
that hit stop on landing TCS just *chefs kiss*
Yeah I was so confused when she said apparently world players didn’t like it. I loved it. It make attacks like insect glaives finale mid air hit or hammers full charge attack feel more impactful
Dude for real. The noise I made when it hung in the air for almost a full second 😩
Felt so meaty like it should
2:27 Thanks for using this entire portion of your video to show off the Great Sword hitstop, they completely overtuned how much it freezes and I was out of my seat cheering for it every time it happened
>not as much as 4 ultimate
You have no idea how much more I respected your opinion after hearing that. I shall trust your word fellow 4u enjoyer
The best monster hunter and still same level as MHW Iceborne experience for me
@@EduardoTyrannyth They have yet to top something like Dalamadur in the HD era

Nice to see a game journalist who actually sounds like they understand Monster Hunter.
4:39 4 Ultimate's hit-stop made the game for me! I'm so glad that they listened to the fans!
What is a hit stop?
@@furionmax7824 when the frames stop when you land a big hit.
@@furionmax7824basically a point in time where when you land an attack in a game, the chracter or screen freezes for a brief second to signify/simulate how strong or impactful an attack is. It’s used alot in Fighting games and recently in other stuff like Dragons Dogma 2 etc…
@@furionmax7824 big hit = weapon animation stops on impact for a few frames
@@furionmax7824 When you hit a weak spot, such as the monster's head, or deal a lot of damage, your weapon will briefly 'stop' or slow down, which basically indicates, that you just dealt a lot of damage!
You can look up old 4 Ultimate gameplay, maybe you'll catch a glance of it! Hitstop is also present in World, Rise and many fighting-games aswell, I think
God that’s so good to hear. I went into the beta wanting to main Lance and Switch Axe and was underwhelmed by both. Extremely happy they are getting some rebalancing.
@@salamander1738 Lance is probably getting a rework on some of its moves and button mapping. Majority of Lance users were having a hard time adjusting to the play style capcom wanted.
@@kazetsuneit was so weird how they changed it so in order to counter you need to attack. I’m glad they are listening to feedback
Same here. Swaxe damage felt too low, and some of the transitions between moves threw me off. I miss the pattern of side, overhead, underhand on the Y moves.
Yeah, the charge counterthrust was not very good as you can only do it after the third poke, and the shield bash after the perfect guard doesn't feel good either. I'm glad they're taking feedback on those weapons, ie: not LS, GL, and Bow, and will hopefully make them better in the final release.
@@kazetsuneit’s the speed of the poke. The small delay between pokes really really hurts because we are so used to the old rhythm. Plus, it’s damage is really depressive compared to its cousin GL and yeah, the button mapping for its counters are hell weird
They just casually confirmed rapid morph in Wilds :o
Great to hear about coming changes to swaxe and lance, I'm surprised they decided to include rapid morph honestly.
Also the party/multiplayer menus are redundant and you can do the same thing from the board/menus they need to clean that entire mess up more. And just have easy friend invites.
Agreed. It’s manageable but my buddy and I took five to ten minutes to figure out link, environment link, and what conditions/quests those allowed you to use. I think link should just automatically put you in the same environment and you should be able to quest while inside environment link. In fact, get rid of environment link, I can’t see a situation where you wouldn’t want your desired party members to be in your world; maybe it has to do with seamless transitions between biomes?
@@HypnobongI'm hoping the grouping features were bare bones in the beta so they could stress test every other part of the multiplayer. I'd like to expect in newer builds playing with friends will be much more streamlined.

Great to see an overview video with good information and hosted by someone who is familiar with the franchise!

4:42 my respect gone through the roof
Thanks for the update - you answered a lot of the questions the subreddit have been stewing over since the beta.
At 2:58 that TCS hitstop is so meaty. Was it that weighty in the beta? Am I coping?
It was for heavy weapons
they listen to the feedback
They changed it from the beta they even said it in the video
Devs have confirmed they've increased the hit stop in this more recent build
Really glad to see they're listening to player feedback

I agree with your thoughts about the UI and item pouch. As a radial menu enthusiast, I hope they bring back the ability to swap radial menus with right trigger from Sunbreak. Also would like the see the radial menu become snappier when using it mouse and keyboard.
4:08 I felt that, I really felt those misses, when i played the open beta i would also miss many hits when fighting rey dau
Great review! I love that it's from someone who knows what they're talking about
Great video that went over fan concerns with the Lance, IG, SA, and SnS and that they'll be updating them. As an enjoy of all those weapons, I'm glad the the team decided to listen to feedback and making them better in the final game. Hitstop being better is also great as it will make the hit impact feel much better, which is important for MH. I'm also happy to hear that monsters run away less as that was kind of annoying in the beta.
Really good video, thanks.
I really hope they give option for the mini item bar to show 3 items instead of one like in world. That way you know what’s to the left or right
Hopefully they add bit more effects and fix some weird sounds too
More story is wild, I can't wait
So it's not
I'm so happy to hear they're addressing the weapon critiques! Namely the Insect Glaive. Its *not* just control issues or lack of a bounce.
I hope they take time and get it right because right now, I only have one vialble weapon to play with since they changed of other weapons made them work in a way I don't like ( like light bow gun)
"like dolphin duolingo, everything is clicking"
that was a banger i cannot lie
Thank you for this! Love hearing the previews from an avid monster hunter 🫡
The monster diversity is awesome, and I spotted some pretty cool weapon designs in this footage.
Thanks for giving us some Lance copium.
I’m still super skeptical about performance. I hope resolution mode can run above 30. At least 45 would be great. Or if performance can look better, that would be awesome.
I mean, console has been like this forever. You’ll get your 60fps, but it’ll be in performance mode.
@ The beta for PS5 was running on uncapped and got to 45 but mostly above 30s. So it’s definitely possible. I mostly play on performance mode but the mode on beta was terrible. It was hitting 60 but was like on 720p, and I have a 4K TV. Haha
@@gavinw1184 I totally get it. I mean, I spent 1000 hours playing Rise on a Switch so 30fps gaming isn’t really a big issue. The beta performance just got me really nervous. Haha.
@@kazetsune People who have played this build of the game are saying that the improved resolution mode runs at 4k 30. So its not really far fetched to say that performance mode will run at 1080p 60.
I wonder what large tweaking they have for lance?
the complain I have from the beta is that the hit sound feels "soft", so it's not just the hitstop. the second hit from hitting the counter thrust when the monster is attacking seems to miss a lot of the time
Great coverage. Can't wait for Wilds
So glad to hear all the changes. The beta left a lot to be desired and I am very happy to hear about the return of hitstop and changes to SA and especially Lance. Feeling excited again after the beta left me feeling letdown.
All great news. Thank you Capcom! 🙏🏼
With the news of weapon changes, I'm honestly more interested in longsword. its new additions for accessibility are nice, but doesn't feel to increase the reach of the skill ceiling the weapon could provide. Some stuff just seems redundant to me.
For a personal pet peeve, the spirit release animation in itself isn't really cool in my opinion, I would prefer if it were more focused on doing multiple strikes instead of 3 big ones.
Lance rework let's gooooo
Is the item wheel option to press R3 instead of just release the direction back in? It's how I do it in World and clicked the item at the wrong time so many times in Wilds cause sometimes I'll hover before I get to where I want to place something
Glad to hear rapid morph is coming back
that juicy hammer hitstop look so good!
What was the gameplay captured on?
Welp, guess they're all in on keeping CB the same, leaning more towards savage axe style. Seems like they dont want us SAED'ing too often if they aren't changing it from it's current state.
I also think it's underwhelming, at least we haven't seen all the skills yet. Could be some great stuff in there to make saed viable. Rapid morph is back 😅
Thank God they are not planning on big gunlance changes, the beta gameplay was so good!
Lancers Rise!!! It’s our time to shine! Shields up hunters!
Hitstop is back thats all I needed to see
I just hope they change the counter thrust on the lance. Only being able to counter at the end of a combo makes the timing so hyper specific and the damage payoff was so low
I hope they retune damage values of sword and shield, charged chop is nice, but Flurry Rush, even though I know it needed a nerf does not justify it being worthless in the beta.
Oh my god, that hitstop is MEATY! I'm gonna be playing through Wilds with Greatsword and dualblades, so this is excellent for me.
Did the sounds get changed tho? With the new hitstop, it would sound really strange to hear the dull plastic clunk the weapons make
dude the chicken looks so real, I can't murder that thing with a hammer. This is almost as killing pukei pukei after doing the Witcher questline in world
Yoyoyoyo they brought back that paralysis hammer from MHfreedom
Wonder if being Monster Hunter first ever cross play have anything to do with effecting the frame rate? Capcom is a great studio and definitely can fix it all eventually.
Glaive bounce has returned. WE'RE SO BACK!!!
They need to fix the slow combo speed and go back to them intital combo starter. That sidestep lunge seems to be terrible on purpose. It's like they don't want you to use anything but charge attacks
Any idea if the skins of weapons are low, like in world? Or if they increased the number like in rise?
From what we've seen through trailers, demos, and the beta. We're back to the crazy unique designs we know and love. None of worlds sin against humanity slap on designs unless any world exclusive monsters make a return then we'll probably see a return for those monsters exclusively or mayve we'll get a full redesign, too early to tell if any 5th gen monsters are returning.
If they specifically said to not use Lance and SA, then it means the reworks haven't been finished yet. Which means the SnS gameplay on the IGN video is probably not final either. Hope they will manage to save the weapon, it was unplayably bad in the Beta.
Hold on, you’re saying resolution mode on the base ps5 running this build gets you 60 fps?
stable 30fps at 4k apparently
resolution mode is 30 fps. performance is generally 60 fps
Wait, that's a new hammer! 😲
It's a scoutfly cage!
It was in work but yeah it’s new in this game
It's an old hammer design, not new
It's Jail Hammer from the old games
Is the wild (pun intended) swings in frames per second fixed? 70-120 fps for a 4070 depending on what you're doing is wild
ye me too with 4070 + i5 13600k 80-120fps more near to 90 in the most real scenario
Honestly good to hear having just built a 4070 Super / 7800X3D PC. It was sub 50 on performance mode in the Beta on PS5 so I just stuck to graphics sacrilegiously.
@kamer7687 I've actually just ordered a 4070 super, so 70 fps on this game of all things sounds pretty damn good. It could be better, but it's better than rise on switch.
This was on ps5. We don't know how it is on pc.

What monster is that hammer from?
0:49
Base PS5 on performance mode is definitely smooth as glass, glass splinters on a gravel road. Anything above just made it worse.
@@troll5262 This isnt performance mode
@@Crabo99 It wasn't smooth during the beta is what I'm saying.
Looks just fine to me. Consistent 30 fps in resolution mode? That’s very playable. If you’re desperate for frames it sounds like you’ll get them in performance mode.
@gavinw1184 Yea I hope they made performance a bit better and better textures. I dont think they removed performance mode
What about frame rate mode?
I adored hammer in the beta. Lance was my biggest disappointment in the beta, I hope the overhauls they said that lance and switch axe are getting go well. Honestly, SA was in my top 2 of the beta, with hammer. Those 2 felt the most improved, overall. Switch axe felt so fun, having a great balance between axe and sword mode, not to mention the new moves. Sadly, it was proven to be the second worst weapon, for damage, just ahead of lance and only achieved this with an over reliance on spamming the new full release slash. Lance's issues were just it being lance so... Well, it's memed to heal the monster for a reason. Not to mention, the beta removing hit lag for every other weapon... Only to kind of give lance all of that hit lag, when low hit lag/getting hits in with the smallest openings as you can flow between blocking and striking freely was the point of the lance. Pun intended. Hammer was the best it's ever been, mighty charge is awesome! It should stay as the best wake up hit, GS with focus mode is way easier to hit the right part of the animation for the TCS wake up. With hammer, focus mode does not help at all. It's not a matter of angle, it's a matter of distance. If you are too close your spinning will eat the wake up hit before the big bonk. You have to learn that distance to spin without hitting the monster and have the big hit land.
Insect glaive has already seen results, from the feedback, in this version though. They've added the vaulting dance combo/the bounce where you get to continue doing air combos in 3s, as you pogo stick above monster attacks. Not having it in the beta was weird since; the Wilds/World team invented the bounce, this game uses the Rise engine, and Rise had more monster attacks that could hit you in the air. They tried to buff the aerial game for Rise, after that was the only way in World to do less damage than lance, by giving it this trait of doing more damage as each mid air move hits in succession. Yeah, IG also had the worst controls in the Wilds beta, focus mode was annoying and required. Because aiming the normal way demanded a claw grip for no bloody reason. Just use Iceborne controls and let us toggle R3 to swap aiming modes for weapons that can aim without focus mode.
Hey, at least lunastra had a mitigation skill... Until Iceborne ruined that by turning it off. Uth duna is another point on my wish list though. I was begging, since before Iceborne, for monsters that made World's aquatic/polar expert skill actually worth using by having actually challenging fights in those environments. I'm betting I will love uth duna. Even if I don't, doubt it, it granted my wish and maybe other monsters will do similar things.
What about my charge blade ??? No news ? It's already perfect ?
Research monster into whaaat? XD. I love that host haha
Very noticeable hit stops right there.

Dunno why they wouldnt let players select performance mode

@Wicho55th Sorry, I mean in this preview. I know a performance mode is in the full game, it was in the beta, but it was far from being good
@@Crabo99 agreed
Damn good cover, got us an actual hunter
Ah yes "Research" xD
Aw dang they're bringing back rapid morph?
How are we suppose to trust someone who says 30fps is buttery smooth 😂
30 fps on graphics mode for is pretty normal for consoles. if its a consistent 30 fps on graphics mode, thats pretty good, at least for a graphically intensive game like wilds
Why does every gameplay of wilds look so blurry? It looks like I'm watching a video that isn't buffering properly or using weird Ai effects.
Either your quality settings or UA-cam compression not being nice to this game
its a lot clearer ingame but my god the performance mode was terrible
@granthefato340 it was an older build of the game so it's probably better in the release build
@@T.H.C_OFFICIAL ive heard, i really had my doubts from the beta since i didnt have the greatest experience but like almost all of my issues got handled with
Chargeblade ?
Who hated hit stop in world??? I loved it, it makes your attacks feel and look more weighty
I did.
They needed to reduce it a bit, especially for charge blade.
@ as a charge blade main I greatly disagree, the combat felt super impactful and weighty. It did a great job of selling it that your attacks are strong, especially with chainsaw mode and SAED. What exactly did you dislike about it?
I can say after playing the wilds beta it felt like the attacks had no real oomph and just felt like they were missing something (I also somewhat dislike how wilds charge blade require a normal discharge to do SAED, that and its atleast 30% slower than worlds because they wanted more tick damage with chainsaw mode.
@@steamaccount2651that was my biggest gripe with charge blade in the Wilds beta. Felt like I was swinging a wet noodle at everything. The feeling like I was swinging a massive 10-15 foot long axe wasn't there. Glad to see they changed that.
@@ThirstyThurman same I just wish it was faster outside of chainsaw mode. I understand they want to make chainsaw mode a more general way of doing damage but making regular mode slower so that chainsaw mode gets more damage ticks is rather annoying
they are just backtracking with excuses. using a small minority for scapegoats to excuse their inept design choices 90% of players don't even pay attention to what hitstop is.
they even said ig bounce was left out "so people would use the new moves instead" like ok buddy sure you did 🙄 ironically that was one of the biggest issues id seen for wilds just so happened to be what they decided to omit for superficial reasons

@@ЙирюВонаирда i mean you have to keep in mind that most youtubers and game journalists have high-end PCs. thats why most of them never had any issues and some are blind to other's experiences. its not really a them being paid off kind of thing if your PC is simply incredibly high end
@@epsilon1372 you either on high copium or just a little "special man". Wilds was laggy with terrible optimization on high-end PCs. Its not a question about your hardware.
And yes - its exactly why they are invited to all events. Company pays them so they make a "good news" about the game even if its a walking disaster.
If you speak about it - you get yourself blacklisted by capcom and never get invite on events such as this ever again. Its a common knowledge.
@@ЙирюВонаирда you are objectively wrong. you can watch streamers and youtuber's footage. some have it running poorly, sure, but most channels, at least that i watched, tended to have high-end PCs with few issues running the game. I also have multiple with high-end PCs and the beta ran fine for them. they didnt use frame-gen or anything.
Not to mention, it was a beta where capcom made it abundantly clear was meant to gather feedback. the beta was not supposed to give the game a good rep necessarily, it was supposed to give as many people as possible access to a portion of an old build of the game and receive feedback. on another note, even though they didnt experience issues themselves, i know multiple youtubers who were invited to these events and criticized how it ran on other's PCs
if you had the highest end PC and made sure your stuff was updated, you would have few issues running the beta. i want to emphasize that obviously, performance should absolutely be improved, but it is an objective fact that many people with high-end PCs didnt have these issues. im sure some did, but you're just accusing people of stuff you do not know for certain
