Forgotten Hope 2 is a modification of Battlefield 2 by EA Games c.2005. All of the development of the mod was produced during peoples spare time. Very much a passion project, which I think shows in the levels of detail compared to most commercial releases.
I think the inaccuracies of Call of Duty, Medal of Honor etc. spurred them on to create a more realistic experience. That was my impression back when I was a fan on their forums

Vs PR (Project Reality mod) I would say FH2 actually has far more finesse and accuracy and quality of 'product'. PR might have a whole lot more content sure, but yeah FH2 has the edge of 'quality over quantity' (not to mitigate what PR RDEVs have managed to achieve in recent years!!!)

Take a look at the Omaha Beach, Pointe du hoc, Port et Bessin, Op. Goodwood, or Pegasus Bridge maps. They recreated real life towns, churches, bunkers and other elements. You really feel like you are in the real location. Also the equipment and vehicles are specifically researched with the units used in the place and time. In my opinion, the best ww2 game right now and in the years to come.
PS: The france 1940 campaign is coming soon!

Cool video. I am a developer of this mod, making maps. I also make videos to promote it on my own channel. If you are interested, we could maybe do some kind of cooperation, where I could answer some of those questions.

Great video, thanks for your feedback! Some comments to clarify things, the only German "tank" on this map is a Marder III M, which technically isn't a German tank, but a tank destroyer, and I believe it was added just for the gameplay balance purposes, apart from it, there is only British armor in form of Churchill tanks, Centaur, and Stuart Recce used for recon. Brits do get the naval artillery support, but only if called by the commander of the Allied team (one player can take up that role in each team). The Panzerschreck seen on the video is the single kit you can find on the map, other than that Germans have only have some Panzerfausts 30 available, picking the Panzerschreck up as a British soldier is indeed a risky deal, players do tend to friendly fire at players using enemy weapons pretty often in this game :D

Thank you, yep a Marder would be acceptable in this scenario (just about)

@@WW2TV as a matter of fact, the "Sd.Kfz. 138 Marder III Ausf. M" I mentioned will be replaced with the "Sd.Kfz. 135 Marder I" based on the French Lorraine 37L tank supply tractor in the upcoming patch (yes, Forgotten Hope 2 is 15 years old, but it still being developed!), apparently some of those were stationed nearby, so it won't be as far stretched as it is now.
FH2's developers put huge emphasis on the historical accuracy of their game, though some things were altered for gameplay and balance purposes. Apart from being historically accurate, the game needs to be playable and enjoyable for the players after all.
Thanks again for commenting on FH2. You may be also interested in checking out the FH2's depiction of the famous Omaha Beach. That map is definitely more historically accurate than this one.

@@kurator91 Yep, I forget the unit designaation but there were some of that type of Marder near Creully I recall. Have you got a link to a suitable Omaha video I could react to?

@@WW2TV you may find this one to be interesting, it's a video made by one of the developers who worked on the map, with his own commentary on the subject: ua-cam.com/video/Bp875ATM0ZE/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Ts4EVER
there are also some gameplay videos, but those are tricky, since on Omaha, you tend to to die a lot (especially on Allied side), and I'm not sure about the cinematic value of those, in game experience is actually much better and more enjoyable

BTW, there is no Tiger on this map, the Germans only have Marder anti tank vehicles.

For another FH 2 reaction, this is a good short video that showcases Port en Bessin! ua-cam.com/video/Bg78IHCQWtA/v-deo.html
Another impressive Normandy map of theirs, with brits, is Pegasus Bridge and Villers Bocage.

Interesting commentary. Seems like this game did pretty well. When you think of it, if they can reasonably replicate the terrain where you actually live and walk, that’s good work.
