I feel like a Spider-Verse tie in game would have the style of shattered dimensions or edge of time. One because those are Spider-Verse centered games but also their kinda like one off adventures in each universe for each level.
I had a Phineas and Ferb game about the movie where they visit the second dimension. Im pretty sure the entire game was this mini adventure that took place in that scene in the movie where they are jumping through random dimensions. Feel like that could work for a spiderverse game
I'm guessing the reason tie-in games no longer get made is that modern 3D games are a lot harder and more expensive to make nowadays. They used to be a good way for smaller studios to make a quick buck
Also feel like a lot of times tie-in games could just be like "yeah fight random villain you didn't see in the movie" but now they are saving villains for later movies and thus no one too crazy is as available to use and without a known name to draw from it isn't worth making a game.. What I mean is studios are wanting at least a small "cinematic universe" and so they can't be as wilynily anymore since if you had Kraven show up in a game meant to tie in to a movie series then he can't show up in an upcoming movie.. or they have to just have Kraven show up but without a backstory since he already got it in game form.. but now a purely movie audience doesn't get to know how and why Kraven is now just.. chilling in the MCU or something and the studios won't drag down movie sales since they are probably a larger pool than a gaming audience

I wish studios would go back to mid ps3/ xbox 360 graphics It was perfect, not too realistic, but also not too blocky My point being that videos games could return to being easier to make and thus more companies could take risks and basically throw shit at the wall and see what sticks, instead of putting all your eggs into one basket and praying your 1 game that took 5+ years to make doesn't flop I miss not having to wait a literal whole console generation to get a new sequel

One of my pitches before I knew ATSV was a thing was a Spider-verse: Miles Morales standalone game set after ITSV, where you get to swing around in the movie's version of New York, and fight this universe's versions of bad guys, kind of like the Ultimate Spider-Man game, with some lite story rpg mechanics to make it fresh
For me I think a across the spider-verse game would work but instead of playing as Gwen you play as a custom spider-person that is recruited to the spider-society by Miguel O’Hara aka spider-man 2099 around when he’s just starting it up and you can do missions for him where you go around the multiverse taking down anomalies and teaming up and recruiting other spider-people like Peter B, pavitr prabhakar, hobie brown, Jessica drew, spectacular Spider-Man, insomniac spider-man, etc and you do these missions to grow the spider-society and get upgrades to your spider-person and start to figure out more about the anomalies until the events of the movie (across the spider-verse) happen and then you make a choice of either staying with the spider-society to stop miles or leaving it and teaming up with Gwen to find and help miles. which could lead into a possible sequel game maybe?
The one thing I absolutely love about the movie Tie in games is there's less talking more action! Sometimes it makes me like the video game movies more than the movies itself
That's a good pro to this genre video games and that's what we want more than ever in games, to get straight into the game and let plot sit by the bench

I would love a Spider-Verse game that takes place between Into The Spider-Verse and Across Spider-Verse. The idea of getting Spider people join the Spider-Society and fighting different Spider-Man villains from different dimensions like Shattered Dimensions sounds so cool.
The idea of starting as a high level Spider-Man before going to miles really gives me uncharted 4 vibes where you start in a high action situation and then work your way back up (I suck at explaining this but if you play the game you’ll know what I mean)
Yeah the Revenge of the Fallen game had a fun ass multiplayer mode and Dark of the Moon was alright even though gameplay wise it was just the Cybertron games with Bayverse reskins

Possibly even go for an online appeal, and have people put their Spider-Sona's into this game to fill up the Spider Society. Lots of customisation, web slinging styles, colours, lenses, personalities, builds etc. Could be fun and really shows the diversity of the Spider Verse concept.

I grew up playing Spider-Man 3 at 5 years old after growing up watching 1 and 2 ever since I was a newborn infant at not even 1 years old since I was born in 02 the year of Spider-Man 1.. Then I saw Spider-Man 3 with my Gram in theaters and I'll never forget it... My favorite Spider-Man movie till this day is Raimi's Spider-Man 3. I miss these movie tie-in games too.
I saw TASM with my Uncle in theaters when it came out, then when he got the TASM 1 game he let me play it on his Xbox and I remember being amazed. TASM was a whole other Spider-Man vibe

A Spider-Verse game that takes cues from Shattered DImensions is sort of what I've wanted these last few years. Make it a side story or a prequel to one of the movies, have the player switch between the different Spideys either working together or tackling their own quests/stories. Miles with his venom powers, Peter B. with the more classic Spidey gameplay, Noir with his knuckle brawling and fast paced stealth segments, Peni and her fucking mech fighting the Goblin and other more monster like villains, etc etc.
An ITSV Game could also be a sequel that takes place in between ITSV and ATSV where you play as the different spider characters in their own worlds and face off against multiple different versions of familiar villains and interact with different versions of familiar characters.
Kai, I feel you there on that, the only movie tie in games I have played was Spider-Man 2(2004) for a Nintendo DS, Spider-Man 3(2007) for the Nintendo wii and Ds, the amazing Spider-Man (2012) for the Ds, 3DS , and Wii U, and the last one is the amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) for the Wii U

I had the idea of a game similar to lego dimensions but its spider-verse based. Each spider-verse gets a small map to explore and a story to go with it as well as playable characters.

I've felt a lot that having literally any of the new Spider-Man movies as video games would be the coolest thing in the world. Like, I would play the hell out of Into the Spider-Verse, Across the Spider-Verse, Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home games
imagine an ATSV game where we get to make our own Spider-Man and see the beginning of the Spider Society, fighting anomalies, and eventually we can choose between the Society's side, and Miles' side
The weird thing is, both of the movie franchises with tie-in games were cancelled and the games kinda reboot themselves too by being handed off to a different developer who creates a new series but then ultimately cancels it in favor of making tie-in games for movies that get cancelled. Neversoft was making a really cool video game series that wasn’t related to really anything except for vague connections to the iconic 90’s TAS and Unlimited, but was quickly cancelled within two years of its beginning when the Raimi movies began, and Treyarch took over the series of movie games. Then after the trilogy was crunched under the weight of 3 villains that didn’t work well together, the games were handed off to a couple random developers like Next Level Games and Shaba Games before being given to Beenox. Beenox did a couple really good and beloved games before being told they had to do TASM games. Then the movies faltered and Beenox was kicked out to make room for Insomniac. I’m kinda glad we haven’t gotten any movie games because it’s almost destined that the movies will crumble after a couple of tries and I really love the modern Spidey movies. Maybe not the MCU stuff as much as the Spider-Verse stuff, but I still love it all the same. (I’m also aware that Homecoming and FFH got VR games but be really really honest with me, did anyone seriously play these games to the level that the Raimi games or, hell, even the TASM games were played?)
I like the atsv game idea but i'd change some things: The game like you suggested would be going up the ranks of the spider-society where you'd maintain other universes and their anomalies but you'd also maintain your own universe. There would also be a WoS-esque mechanic where you make different choices but as you climb the ranks these choices would get harder and consequential eventually leading to a choice that would lead you to either fighting Miguel and getting together a team, or fighting against Gwen and her team. Other mechanics would be: sparring with spider-people, making friends in the society (which would help you convince them to join your team or even automatically add them) and you'd help with small tasks like them designing their suit or morals. At the start of the game you would also create your character which would include designing your suit, how you look (hair, face, ect), swinging style (tricks ect.) and choosing your fighting style (maybe there could be a symbiote style). It could go as far as choosing the aesthetic of your world, design of your villians, supporting characters, and your origin. Now I understand you can't really give your players free reign over their origin which is why it would instead give you one or two template choices with some blanks which you fill in or it could just go the City of Heroes route and give you a few choices with very little info that gives you some kind of boost later in the game. This is a lot for a game, I know, and it'll probably never happen, I know. But I like imagining and with how much gaming is evolving maybe it won't always be impossible. Thanks for reading!
When I was younger and stuck with somewhat outdated tech (DS PS2) I didn't know much about the current gaming market. So when I'd go out to my second hand game shop I'd see all the movie tie in games meaning when I upgrade tech (PS4) I was really confused why all the big movies didn't have games.

Great video, I liked your ideas and your cartoon looks amazing, keep up the good work ! For an ITSV game I'm imaginign an old school beat them all like Streets of Rage, where up to 4 players can play co-op and choose among 6 spider people. Each have different stats (Gwen is the fastest, Peter is good all around, Noir hits the hardest, Peni has a lot of health ...) and they have an ultra (Spider-Ham gives a giant hammer slam, Miles does the shoulder touch). It wouldn't really follow the movie, you'd have stages based on some locations and villains (Lab then forest with scientists with laser gun until Doc Ock as the boss, or Tombstone's goons in the street) and it would finish with a tough boss rush at the collider. For an ATSV game, I'm imagining something similar to Shattered Dimensions. Having closed levels would help showcase a spcific universe and art style, as well as a cool variations of a known villain. You get to choose between Gwen, Pavitr and Hobbie. The more you play with them the more you can upgrade them. You can always replay a level. And once in a level, you can call on back up if things get tough, either one of the other playable characters or even other spider people like Jess or the strongest assist, Miguel. The bosses would be the occasion for big set pieces, each protagonist having a different one for each villain (yeah, that's a lot of work, but it could be small changes). Ideally you could play co-op, and the Spider Society could act as the hub where you can roam around freely, train, take on challenges, and mini games.
Tie-in games were definitely a product of the time and let's face it most of these games nowadays wouldn't be good. Personally I think it's better to leave such projects to people with original idea and more time

About tie-ins to so-so movies - the 2009 Wolverine game loosely based off of X-Men Origins comes to mind, a really fun tie-in to a sub-par movie.

An ITSV Game could also be a sequel that takes place in between ITSV and ATSV where you play as the different spider characters in their own worlds and face off against multiple different versions of familiar villains and interact with different versions of familiar characters.

Kai, I feel you there on that, the only movie tie in games I have played was Spider-Man 2(2004) for a Nintendo DS, Spider-Man 3(2007) for the Nintendo wii and Ds, the amazing Spider-Man (2012) for the Ds, 3DS , and Wii U, and the last one is the amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) for the Wii U

I was thinking about this too while tasm 2 wasnt the best but I would have loved a tie in game for Tom to compltete the live action tie in game, and an Into the spiderverse game would be phenomenal

I had the idea of a game similar to lego dimensions but its spider-verse based. Each spider-verse gets a small map to explore and a story to go with it as well as playable characters.

The weird thing is, both of the movie franchises with tie-in games were cancelled and the games kinda reboot themselves too by being handed off to a different developer who creates a new series but then ultimately cancels it in favor of making tie-in games for movies that get cancelled.
Neversoft was making a really cool video game series that wasn’t related to really anything except for vague connections to the iconic 90’s TAS and Unlimited, but was quickly cancelled within two years of its beginning when the Raimi movies began, and Treyarch took over the series of movie games. Then after the trilogy was crunched under the weight of 3 villains that didn’t work well together, the games were handed off to a couple random developers like Next Level Games and Shaba Games before being given to Beenox. Beenox did a couple really good and beloved games before being told they had to do TASM games. Then the movies faltered and Beenox was kicked out to make room for Insomniac. I’m kinda glad we haven’t gotten any movie games because it’s almost destined that the movies will crumble after a couple of tries and I really love the modern Spidey movies. Maybe not the MCU stuff as much as the Spider-Verse stuff, but I still love it all the same. (I’m also aware that Homecoming and FFH got VR games but be really really honest with me, did anyone seriously play these games to the level that the Raimi games or, hell, even the TASM games were played?)

I like the atsv game idea but i'd change some things:
The game like you suggested would be going up the ranks of the spider-society where you'd maintain other universes and their anomalies but you'd also maintain your own universe. There would also be a WoS-esque mechanic where you make different choices but as you climb the ranks these choices would get harder and consequential eventually leading to a choice that would lead you to either fighting Miguel and getting together a team, or fighting against Gwen and her team.
Other mechanics would be: sparring with spider-people, making friends in the society (which would help you convince them to join your team or even automatically add them) and you'd help with small tasks like them designing their suit or morals.
At the start of the game you would also create your character which would include designing your suit, how you look (hair, face, ect), swinging style (tricks ect.) and choosing your fighting style (maybe there could be a symbiote style). It could go as far as choosing the aesthetic of your world, design of your villians, supporting characters, and your origin.
Now I understand you can't really give your players free reign over their origin which is why it would instead give you one or two template choices with some blanks which you fill in or it could just go the City of Heroes route and give you a few choices with very little info that gives you some kind of boost later in the game.
This is a lot for a game, I know, and it'll probably never happen, I know. But I like imagining and with how much gaming is evolving maybe it won't always be impossible. Thanks for reading!

When I was younger and stuck with somewhat outdated tech (DS PS2) I didn't know much about the current gaming market. So when I'd go out to my second hand game shop I'd see all the movie tie in games meaning when I upgrade tech (PS4) I was really confused why all the big movies didn't have games.

For an ITSV game I'm imaginign an old school beat them all like Streets of Rage, where up to 4 players can play co-op and choose among 6 spider people. Each have different stats (Gwen is the fastest, Peter is good all around, Noir hits the hardest, Peni has a lot of health ...) and they have an ultra (Spider-Ham gives a giant hammer slam, Miles does the shoulder touch). It wouldn't really follow the movie, you'd have stages based on some locations and villains (Lab then forest with scientists with laser gun until Doc Ock as the boss, or Tombstone's goons in the street) and it would finish with a tough boss rush at the collider.
For an ATSV game, I'm imagining something similar to Shattered Dimensions. Having closed levels would help showcase a spcific universe and art style, as well as a cool variations of a known villain. You get to choose between Gwen, Pavitr and Hobbie. The more you play with them the more you can upgrade them. You can always replay a level. And once in a level, you can call on back up if things get tough, either one of the other playable characters or even other spider people like Jess or the strongest assist, Miguel. The bosses would be the occasion for big set pieces, each protagonist having a different one for each villain (yeah, that's a lot of work, but it could be small changes). Ideally you could play co-op, and the Spider Society could act as the hub where you can roam around freely, train, take on challenges, and mini games.

Tie-in games were definitely a product of the time and let's face it most of these games nowadays wouldn't be good. Personally I think it's better to leave such projects to people with original idea and more time
