So it’s been 9 months since I first got my hands on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. In this video I want to share with you some of the personal experience I’ve had after 9 months of usage, show you how it has held up from a durability standpoint, and share some insight on whether or not I can recommend this device to those of you considering getting one. I am a touring musician, on the road 200 days per year and this phone has been a game changer for me. Don't miss my iphone at all.
9 months in and no problems at all. Completely durable. This phone is a revelation when on the train or travelling or for doing anything really. Large screen and ability to multi-task, and no eye strain means this is probably the best phone I've ever had

I was just informed by Geek Squad and the northeast. That all fold four phones are unavailable as so are parts. My guess is a way for them to push the 5. Anyways, I had a Galaxy Z. Fold4 with a quarter inch vertical track on the interscreen that rendered the inner screen. Useless and unresponsive Geek squad Gave me an $1800 store credit card. Which I then bought a new Galaxy S23. Ultra with and I still have 600 dollars on the card to spend on anything I want in the store. When an f, the screen protector starts coming up. Get it repaired immediately because when it comes up. You only have about a month or 2 left before that screen cracks and you have the thickest and slimmest phone on the market. I will not miss the phone falling off. My magnet lock on my dashboard. Last time it happened and almost knocked my car out of gear.
I've only had my Fold 4 for a week after getting it on a FB Marketplace swap for a laptop I wasn't using. I intended to sell it, but within a day of using it I knew it was going nowhere. Quite simply the best phone I've owned and I've owned mobile devices since 1994. So versatile and the battery life is far better than I was expecting, easily between 6 and 7 hours SOT with 95% of that the inner screen.
I'm about to get one this week of FBMP. I'm upgrading for a iphone 7plus so it'll be a needed upgrade. Was the fold still not visible? Some I've seen the fold started to bubble a bit.

Same boat, just switched from a good old iPhone 7 and i love it.
Watching this on my fold 4. The phone has held up surprisingly well I've been using it since December. The one handed usablilty is 10/10 on this device. The swipe down on finger print scanner means i don't need to reach to top... Even then it's shape and size is golden. Being able to open the phone right from 20% open and it acts like a kickstand for the outer screen. Spen inside the device is a must. Rest NO complaints. Fab.
It does not work with mine. I am unable to turn it on after 15 months. Need to pay Rp 8 million for the servis.

I've had my Fold 4 since launch with no issues. It has literally replaced my need for a PC/laptop thanks to the multitasking capabilities and Samsung DeX. I get stuff done on the go, then plug in a Type C cable to connect to my 34' ultrawide monitor at home and pick up where I left off.

1. Buy a Good case for it.
2. Handle it with care. The actual build of this device is SOLID and built to last, but Careless use will result in damage.
3. Enjoy your phone because it's one of the best out there.

With Dex, if you hook it up to a monitor it can become like a mac mini ($559), when you open it, it becomes like a ipad mini with 5g ($749), and when closed it's very comparable to an iphone 14 pro 512 gb ($1299). When you add those three apple devices together with all the ram and storage, it comes out to $2600. I'd rather have my all in one device for much cheaper. It only cost me $500 after I traded in my 2 year old Note 20 ultra. I also hooked my fold 4 to a Uperfect lapdock and now I have a pretty good 5g laptop. I love my Fold 4!

Uh unless you really need a new phone rn I'd wait for the 5 to see the differences.
The biggest thing I'd be looking for is a s pen slot, a more durable screen, more app support from Samsung, and a 144hz display
I would wait until fold 5 or if you don't want or can't spent so much money, try to wait untill fold 5 is closer so fold 4 would be cheaper
Just wait for the fold 5 cuz apparently the crease in the middle won't be visible because its gonna have a new folding mechanism for it and will also include more durability and the new gen2 chip for galaxy

Don't get the Fold 4 the big screen will peel. It's a big problem. Maybe the Fold 5 will be better.
Got a fold4 yesterday and it's the ultimate phone one can have who's looking for a larger display alongwith a smaller one.
I am a long-time Note guy. I still use the Note 20 Ultra as my daily driver. I think this is going to be the year I finally upgrade to a Fold. Considering it's May right now I am going to wait on the Fold 5. No point in getting the 4 now when the 5 is likely due in the next few months.

Agreed my note 9 is starting to show its age still love it but i do want that big ole screen for mobile gaming and videos being a truck driver and all ill still use this note 9 for maps and some work related things but the screen quality even with that crease i love it i was skeptical of folding screens when they where announced years ago but they have proven themselves reliable
@makoshark40 I worked for At&t when the Fold 4 came out. I got to use it for 2 weeks. Just like your eyes learn to ignore your nose they also ignore the crease. I found that it blends in pretty well when watching videos. Should be even better this year because with the new hinge they are using it will either get rid of the crease or at the very least make it less noticeable.

I'm in Canada - land of state-regulated what you can have or don't have, see, don't see, etc. We have one option for a folding phone - Galaxy Z Fold 4. Current Apple victim will definitely be getting this gem when I'm able (eligible) in August. Thanks for the great video!

You know this guy's a real one when he shows rs classic on the inner screen.
It seems like all the other reviewers can't understand the outside screens use because it's one handed. They say it's too narrow so they're missing the entire concept of the device.
I agree 100%, this is a different type of device than a conventional smartphone but most people want their conventional smartphone in addition to the tablet functionality. The fold 4 doesn’t provide that so people see it as a con or pain point when I am trying to explain it is a great combo of small phone/large tablet in a form factor that isn’t all that cumbersome (this thing only weighs a little more than a iPhone 14 Pro Max). The outer display has come a long way since the Fold 1 so I’m quite happy with the outer screen!
as it becomes harder to see/read things up close now (without lifting my glasses) i think this phone may be my next device. currently have the flip 3 and love its small to big form factor. but it might be time to go a big to bigger form factor. thanks for the great vid!
You might end up like me and have both lol. I swap the sim card between them from time to time since I don't always need the big fold and the flip is the most fun phone to use on the daily

My fold 4 has been amazing since I got it last aug. All the,so called deficiencies and weaknesses that people said about these phones haven't come to pass for me. I'm soo glad I bought this 9 months on. Great vid as usual mate keep them coming 👍

@@BiqUzi hahahaha yeah the hinge collapsed and Samsung refused to fix it so I take back everything I said about it🤣. I binned that and got a one plus open and what a difference. Don't go for Samsung imho one plus have an amazing device out now and this hinge feels FAR more durable than the fold line. Plus the charging speeds on one plus compared to Samsung are night and day

The best 2 in 1 ever use 😊 love to use as daily when it fold and unfold to watch youtube or gaming. Other brands are too big to use in one hand
Ive had my Z Fold 4 for about 9 months as well and I have no complaints other than the center of my inside screen in the crease is starting to crack. I am actually taking it in under warranty work to have the screen replaced tomorrow. Samsung did not give me any crap about it and got the warranty work processed instantly. The repair shop says they have had to repair many screens due to the creasing but it does not seem to cause any functionality issues its just an eyesore to look at.

Ive been on the fence since i got the fold. Its up against some heavy hitters such as when i got the s23 ultra. And also have the 13 pro max. Ive almost swapped the fold. Twice. And a third time almost sold it. And each time i just couldnt do it. I cancelled them all. Gave back the s23 ultra. And now will sell the 13 pro max. Theres just something about it thats amazing

I love my fold 4. I’ve had it since the launch. I’ve dropped it a few times times on hard surfaces and it has held up well. The only issue I’m having is the under display camera is no longer invisible. It’s visible for the whole world to see. I may get it fixed or leave it like it is.

It's a setting in the phone, you just need to toggle it so that the UDC works like intended

My brother's fold 3 and my flip 4 both cracked on the inside screen along the hinge crease after 8-12months (the fold 3 lasted longer than the flip 4, I gues you open the flip more than the fold). Samsung did fix them both for free though.
Preordered a Fold 5 because I use my phone constantly when I’m at work but not working. I’m coming from an iPhone 14 Pro Max and I am very excited to get something different for the first time in a long time. It feels like the first revolution since switching from an LG enV to an iPhone 3GS.
Me too Im very happy with this device, I don't see any need for upgrade for whatever comes on the market in near future 2-3y. Only on 2things they should work on for the next model battery and cameras
I just traded my iphone 14 pro max for this phone and i wish i did it sooner. Absolutely love this phone. Depending on the fold 5 improvements will depend if i trade this one
It's funny, there were several speed comparisons on both the iphone 14 pro max and the Samsung Fold 4 and the Fold beat the iphone in most speed tests, in spite of the fold doing more tasks at once

Watching this on zfold4 too, I like my phone, got it as a gift and I always have a case with a plastic front, I'm already used to the plastic cover and the inner screen is holding up good. I did drop it once, and I have a small chip on the hing, but it's still going strong. It's a fun phone to consume youtube and anime lol good day.
The z fold 4 is amazing. Its the best phone Ive ever had and 9 months later it still feels like a new phone

Have had mine roughly 6 months . The only complaints I have are with the camera. Hopefully, when the z fold 6 or 7 are released, we get cameras equivalent to the S series. Amazing phone, but for me, it wasn't worth the switch away from the cameras. Was expected * the durability is 10/10 I've dropped this beast 8+ times by now and not a scratch. Charging twice a day with occasional top ups tho 😂
As I am watching this on my z fold 4 I have to say its a great phone/tablet I use it daily I send emails edit pictures and videos play games watch movies on it and when I hook it up to a tv or an external monitor the dex features basically turn it into a mini laptop. I have dropped it a couple of times no issues just some minor scratches nothing major even dropped it in watter no problems. I take pictures and videos on it all the time the cameras could be better but I find myself using the 50 mega pixel mode if i need to do something at night the regular mode works fine. But they could definitely be better ive noticed that sometimes it does turn some of my pictures green when its too dark but that has only happened a couple of times. Besides the cameras its an awsome phone I don't think ill be getting the z fold5 unless if the upgrade the cameras to the ones on the s22 ultra atleast.

I just got mine Fold 4 for $400 in perfect condition, only missing foil on big display, which i got applied in Samsung store for around $50. I love that phone.

I love my fold 4. I highly recommend it. After 9 months of having mine, it has held up very well and I've dropped it hard several times. Camera and battery could be better, but I'm pleased with it. Typing this from my Z Fold 4 1tb version.

I've also been having some really great ideas lately about something that would easily be considered bleeding edge Smart Phone/Tablet/Watch and other devices I didn't specifically mention.
Phones and tablets are wonderful, no denying that! I've never owned or even used a Smart Watch before though, but I suspect it's barely the beginning of the bleeding edge device technology on the horizon. And if I am even 5% right, it's going to revolutionize technology and .already everything we have now in 2023 appear as primitive in comparison.
It's such an insane idea I don't even feel comfortable hinting at what it would be simply out of fear that the idea would be seized and Trade Marked by Billion dollar technology industries around the globe because of what it would be, what it would do, how it would do it, and how much it would cost to produce a functional prototype that could make its way to the market immediately following it's success!!
This very device here (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold) signifies to me that my idea is probably already being considered, even if not being developed yet.

I'm attracted to z-fold and your video is helpful to help me decide to whether i should go for it. I'm currently using S20+ for over 3 yrs now. Quite happy with the overall durability of s20+, but bcoz i do a lot of reading, note taking and watching YT, I'm thinking of getting Z-fold.
The biggest issue is the price $$$$ !!!
Currently using the S20 Ultra but have been watching this phone since release. Might finally update my phone to one of these.
I could definitely see myself getting a similar device in a few years once the prices become more reasonable. I just can't justify paying that much for a phone when I could spend that much on a new PC for work and play.
But right now you could buy one used for half the price.

I love that you only have the back of the case on too. Theres a front part for the outer display but it probably broke on you like it did me haha. Love my fold and half modular case.
After 1yr with the zfold 4, I'm hooked !! Very hard to go back to my Ultra. However, the hinge will eventually fail, making it impossible to lay flat. Its not a question of will it happen but, when. Samsung is well aware of their design flaw and will blame you for the damage, charge you $600 to fix.

I have been using my fold 4 for a very long time now, about 8 months and I gotta say, this thing is extremely good. And I have all the access to play games when I'm out of the house. I also have very tiny fingers so it's super easy to text on the small screen. The fold 4 came with a screen protector so I didn't have to spend money one😅. This thing is worth the cost and I would recommend it.
Hi thank you for the review, however, I wonder does the phone get heat after using for a long period of time like watching movies or playing games?
They are such good phones, so many things to like. I nearly upgraded to the 5, but then i saw the oneplus open as i do use the camera often, then i realised i would lose Dex, ipx7 and Spen so now im like hmmmm plus the first gen stuff always has bugs. Now i dont use them dex or spen as much as i used too, but i want to do more so i didn't change and now with a brand new zfold4 replaced under warranty as inner screen got damaged twice, im still satisfied with the zfold4. Probably the best stab into foldable phones atm if you havent tried one.
My fold 4 has flown out a vehicle and smacked into the street while i was driving... no broken front or inner screen and no broken back Glass but obviously some scuffs and dents on the metal hindge and frame but still looks great and works perfectly fine

Love the phone..... Hate the pain in my hands. The weight is causing me serious pain. Started in my non - dominant hand, and moving to my dominant hand. Glad I still have my Note8... Gonna make the backyard switch

That case is dope. I really enjoy the fold naked in my preferred colors but that case is so worth it. I do wish there was a case that did both however. You need both an S pen for functionality and a stand to improve on usability of the inner screen. Where did you get the case at btw? There’s no links to your equipment used. Side note, I do wish it had better cameras and battery life. I’d take the phones weight and thickness in the older models if it could have better cameras and most importantly battery life. I mean if you want to enjoy tablet option while playing games to kill time or watching a favorite series or something you need that battery to contend with your traditional tablet. Otherwise why bother if you have to still travel with bot a phone and a tablet. Just my opinion.
I have a fold 3 I used for 2 years. Bought a Fold 5 because of necessity (moved to turkey and you have to pay to get off country phones registered. made more sense to buy new.) These things are pretty durable.
Love my fold wont part with it. Have tried a few cases trying to get away from the drop once broken cheap Chinese plastic crap cases - happy to go with something beefy that will stand, store an S pen and still be chargeable wirelessly. Love to hear your recommendations to protect this expensive but outstanding device from an outdoor use contractor or site perspective.
Loved my fold 4. Had it since release. I recently picked up the Vivo Fold 2 and this thing is light-years ahead of Samsung in the hardware department. Its way thinner and folds flat. Huge 5000mah battery that charges at 120watts and better cameras. Its already better than the unreleased ZFold5, which is why i switched

4800maH battery. No water resistance. Periscope zoom camera removed. USB-C 2.0. No ultra wideband support. No Dex. No Flex.
It barely keeps up with the Fold4; no way it's better than the Fold5.

Fold 3 inner screen was getting those stress cracks. Paid the deductible through insurance and got a Fold 4. It is an amazing device. I shoot a lot of video for kids sports with it so extremely great that way, whether opened or closed. Games play great. Reading comics/books is great on it. Watching video too! Overall, I'm very happy with it, especially after getting a magsafe ring for it. Attaches fine in the vehicle and I had a ring/stand for it wherever I go.
What about stabilization?

I have a fold and I really enjoy it but the biggest let down is the lack of dust proofing for the inner screen.
You're right, I just took my phone out of my pocket and it was covered in white specks
I have the Fold 4 and Find N2. The typing experience on the outer screen is much better on the Find N2. When you hold both phones the Fold 4 feels like a brick compared to the Find N2. I like the software better on the Fold 4 but I prefer the hardware of the Find N2.
this is the most comfortable screen size i've ever used in a smartphone.
Used the fold4 since day1. Sold it to co worker and got s23u on release date. Missed the fold4 so ordered it last week on Swappa 😅
Agree with everything you said, just wish the fold fold outer would have similar width as Sony Xperia 1iv....imo that would be perfect
Awesome Video...as always. Personally tried Z Fold4 but couldn't get past small front screen and majority of videos on inner screen black bar resulting in screen size equal to S22/23 Ultra.

As for durability its not too great from my experience. I let it slip once when getting out of car and there is a small crack on the screen. It may have been a one to two foot slip drop and it dropped in a cement driveway and chipped it. At the time i didnt have my case on so it cracked it and due to having said case i can still use it fine but i do have samsung care so I'll be getting it fixed soon. I also get these air bubbles in the inner screen protector its not a huge hassle
Overall i love this phone. When i watch tv be it for movies or sporting events i usually end up watching it on my phone and needless to say the experience was enhanced with this phone.
Due to the file explorer feature i am able to basically use this to do a lot of personal tasks. And i use the phone for office meetings and such.
I absolutely love the phone and i bought it with a monthly plan with 0% interest so when it is paid off as long as it holds im gonna buy another fold in the future
I tested this phone for just a while in the shop yesterday and I'm absolutely hooked! Just looking for some reviews to see if there are any drawbacks I didn't notice, but so far everyone seems to be very optimistic :D
I liked it until my hinge stopped allowing the phone to fully open. Was also always anxious with it at the playground or beach because of the sand. Had a bad Samsung service experience with my wife's Flip 4 so I just gave up and got an S23 Ultra. Maybe ill give foldable another try on 3-4 years.
