TWIN 88mm Turbo Z28 Camaro @ SCT Nashville!

- This BEAST of a car showed up at Street Car Takeover Nashville to makes some passes down the track - except there was nothing that kept up with it! This Camaro is packing two 88mm turbochargers powered by a 509 cubic inch engine under the hood. Check this thing out! Our favorite part about it was the twin fuel tank setup on it allowing him to cruise anywhere he wanted without issues, although we think it's a little too far of a stretch to call it a 'street car', which is why he was in the unlimited class... thought he wasn't scared to take the cruise for the street car class :)

I would like to thank 1320video for such a high quality video of my car. I was just there testing that day. I tried 23psi boost and ran in the 4.9's but was blowing through the converter so I turned it down to 20 psi and ran 4.8's. The car has a lot more left in it. 3 years ago I ran a 4.7 @ 157mph in the 1/8 and 193mph in the 1/4 mile (letting out 3 times due to lack of traction). I still need to work on the suspension tuning but I'm having fun regardless. This was my first year racing the car since 2011. I drive this on the street much more often then at the track. Thanks for your interest.
To answer a few popular questions I saw that people had... Yes I have cup holders in the car. I also have power windows. They are nice to have when cruising the streets.
The closest 1/4 mile track is 3.5 hours away so I mostly go to 1/8 mile tracks.
The day this video was shot I figure I was making somewhere around 1700 FWHP at 20 psi boost.
Well we love the car amd glad to see you jave the car back racing. Awesome to knkw that you jave some creature comforts left at that kind of power eith those speeds. You my sir... Are a true gentleman of speed and for that we thank you
You sir would be able to drop that 3k plus weight if you didnt have gigantic balls. Nice car man and thank you for veing a part of keeping it alive.
Wow that blazer was fast sleeper
Got to love those "In car shot's"!!
The stance of that Camaro is tight! Those are MONSTER rear tires! Biggest I've seen on a Camaro.
That thing hooks and goes down the track so straight he can drive that beast with only one hand on the wheel! Nicely done.
Damn! I use to appreciate the old quality of the videos now you upgraded to the max! Great quality!
Love how the car does those little eager bounces before it explodes off the line!
NICE CAMARO Love Turbo´s
Forget the camaro, that S-10 Blazer @ 1:50 is KEEPING UP!!!
whats them 2 round things infront of the shifter that looks like 2 cup holders ?
most sickest car i've seen
Mirrors and cup holders lmao! Love it
Love the cup holders
Man that thing is stable.
Damn thats a wicked sled.
That thing jumps at launch man
Way sick camaro
love ur vids 1320 u the man
I couldn't even imagine what this would be like. The quickest car I've been in was my friend's 380whp Subaru, and was quick enough for a street car. 2000+!?! That must be ridiculous.
Beast
That thing looks stunning. I don't know if those are billet cup holders, if it is, it's the best I've seen.
60fps videos AWESOME!
That is one sick puppy.........
awesome
Badass!
man these vids look great in1080P-60
Nice!
Badass
I was more impressed by that Blazer
I love z28 camaros
ow wow
idk if this is me being stupid but who else when we got the view inside the car thought that those where cup holders sitting on the trans tunnel
30lbs of boost_jpg They're not?
Sweet build! Love the car/chassis setup, and the Low Compression mild BBC with a TON of Turbo - SUPER sweet!
For that much HP and ultimately that much $$$, I'm not too impressed with 4.80s-4.90s.... but I am ABSOLUTELY *NOT* "that guy" that just trolls videos to talk shit and hate on people's stuff! I know what it takes to race at this level and the amount of money, time, commitment, and PASSION it steals from you, so I have NOTHING but love for ALL my fellow racers!
But "2,500" HP, Twin Turbo BIG Block, on Big Tire and 80+inch wheelie bar that wouldn't make the field for a 32 car, small tire, small block, street legal, (full interior) shootout, just feels like you've gotta be missing something in the tuneup somewhere.
On the other hand though, I did see where you said you do alot of street driving, have cupholders, and even has damn Power Windows, and cool stuff like that (and the 8 & half or 9:1 compression is "mild" in a practical way) - hell, compression that low, you can run pump gas and really be able to ENJOY the car without it ONLY being at high stress, high maintenance, high $$, events and shit like that!!!
Just an awesome setup overall, but you're not going to win any q8's or shootouts or any TS/ProMod races anytime soon, but its def absolutely a *TON* *OF* *FUN* !!!!
So like I said, please don't take my words as any kind of hate or troll-isms... sweet car! Much love!
ANNDDDD.......
#KeepTheCupHolders & #KeepThePowerWindows #PumpGasCanStillGoFast!!!!
I think I have fallen in love
Sounds mean!
Wooooooww :) Respect for that car Holy fucking shit!
Whats up with the small tire S10 at 1.97 ?? That thing runs damn good !!
Idk about you guys but that fucking small tire blazer was getting it and keep up with camaro I wanna see more of it haha
Nice
Dayyuuummmm lol Thx
At 2x playback speed he managers a 1/4 mile at 2.4 s.......WOW.
that explorer tho..
some wide tyres :o
Well got damn
I was impressed by that chevy suv lol
+Googleplusistoointrusive ya he was movin pretty good
At 4:26 why did the turbos disperse the air around them? I thought they're supposed to suck it in.
WOW LETS DROP 40 GRAND INTO A CAR AND RUN 1/8TH MILES
that car has more like 120K+ in it.
1/8 mile racing is huge... Stick to walkin around that slow ass cbr guy.
beerad12 most 1/4 raceways are closed on America.
Insurance is far 2 high
Mabey where your at. But 1/4 mile tracks are EVERYWHERE down south. But that's besides the point, I was trying to tell that clown that 1/8 mile racing is huge. There are half million dollar 1/8 mile cars out there, it has gotten just as big as 1/4 mile.
beerad12 I'm in california, so the liberals have free range over here.
Oh, Look !
Another Family car xD
Merry Christmas everyone!
I agree he should be running the 1/4 mile instead of the 8th mile
Is that a 1/8th track?
its over so fast to the point were your asking, dam did you build any kind of adrenaline?
147mph in the eighth.... Damn
If this one is too hard to be called street legal, then what about Larry Larson's truck, or Bailey's plastic Camaro (the new one)? Both are capable of close to mid 5 second passes on the 1/4.
Btw, respect for this guy for keeping his all metal.
This is the only Camaro I want as my poster.
Definitely need a tighter converter cant hear a drop into 3rd
Fuuuuuuuck yeah!
From what I see he needs to lower the wheelie bar, the car is bouncing back to hard and the weight of the car is fighting against him. Too much of a wheelie anyways if you trying to get record numbers. It's good if you're trying to look cool though.
Reminds me of an evil bull waiting to be let out of the cage
Anyone else notice the cupholders? Never heard of a car with 2500hp that has cupholders ahaha
High 7 second 1/4s?
The 15 thumbs down must be jealous okc racers lol
He said 2000hp at the flywheel so where did the extra 500hp come from lol
New paint or stickers maybe, lol
I was going to say Bold New Graphics, but the paint job is rather plain. hmm
he said somewhere over 2000
His wing 500 hp
made over 2000 3 years ago....im sure hes added 500 over those 3 years
Big ass tires
Need to work out the bugs.. Stock bottom end 5.3 LS with a single 88 has been 4.80's at 1/5th the cost of this car. This one has WAY more potential, this can't possibly be all.
What's that big heat wrapped pipe going through the passenger side of the cabin? No way it's the exhaust since the exhaust exits on the side next to the driver.
Plumbing to the turbo intercooler
jshaw6600 yeah it's the intercooler piping. interesting way to run it. i'm guessing he runs that long piping so the air cools more before it enters the intake manifold
i think side exits on any sorta muscle car is sexy af,..especially if its straight piped..i think a side straight piped vette or chally or a maro would be so sick...and just quick side question why can't you hear the turbos spooling up
Cause murica
You can hear them, it's just the big block sort of drowns them out. Put in some headphones and turn up the volume, you'll hear them ;)
Lol
I reckon my Honda would smash it.
Those little lawnmowers? Lol
S10 blazer at 1:48 ?
What size of tire is on that camaro
When was this?
wtf those drags are like 2 feet wide
Cupholders?
Cuando no va hacer poquito tiempo si la pista mide menos de 50 metros
is this 1/8 mile or(?
Fuck that camaro dime a dozen how bout that looks like s10blazer keeping up with it at 1:28 !
What type of gear box is in this car? It sounds like there is only 2 gears
Yes lol back then the camaros only had 2 or 3 gear transmissions
How do these gear boxes work
0:58 "I started out with a powerglide and moved on to a rossler 210"
SpeedFreak They work like regular automatic transmissions, they only have two gears, high and low. This was the predecessor to GM's Th400 (turbo 400) 3 speed automatic. The guy in this video appears to be using a trans brake also if you watch his left thumb when he is launching.
Blake Brink Power glide was an option which was 2 gears. However the majority was either a turbo 350, 400, or a munci 4 speed.
Reaper
I see cup holders. Street car?
does it change gears by its self ? (might be stupid ? but idk shit about cars)
This car Isn't shit.
What's that thing sticking out of the back of the car at 0:33?
Wheelie bar? Parachute?
The metal bars are "wheelie bars" and the black bag is a parachute to help slow it down after the pass.
What the heck is in that truck to haul ass like that? @ 1:50
***** That's amazing. I'm guessing It's yours? Do you remember what time it trapped in this video? because it looked like you were right on his tail and that's a 2000hp camaro.
***** That's awesome man. Bad ass Blazer it definitely caught my attention going down the track.
if he'd gear it a little wiser and dropped the bracket racing slicks he'd be well in the 50's. 4:85 is small block times.
Has any one noticed in the owners comment he said around 1700 fwhp😂😂😂😂
Joseph Thornsberry He is referring to horsepower at the flywheel, not the front wheels. LOL
Guy said At full boost 2200 so wheres 2500 come from? Does this guy just round up or... lol
I meant 1.47 ....
God i want that car @ 2:25 :-)
dragster is cool and all but fuck that i wanna see the setup on the truck at 1:50 that thing hauls ass!
cupholders
Come on sleeper freeway race vids.....
ya this new 1/8 mile shit sux wish they would go back to quarter mile that's real drag racing
Nice 👍👍👍 big block ❤❤❤
Big block 454
Big block 496
Big block 502
Big block 572
Big block 604
Big block 632
❤❤❤❤
is this car street legal, which it probably isn't but in front of the shifter there are two things that look like cup holders
read description
I'm used to seeing 3sec cars in a 1/4mi, not sure why but yhis car seems so slow or has bad reaction time or something? 2000+hp? don't seem like it. Just something is off need better slicks maybe I dunno.
I meant 1/8mi
Bring a Bolts ons GTR see what happens...
A GTR would lose. This Camaro was running sub 5 second 1/8 miles at nearly 150 mph. Rough estimations/calculations say that it should be capable of low to mid 7 second 1/4 miles.
Continue your trolling elsewhere.
This's all Camaro about. Keep away from road course!
ROCKETGUN MISSILE it's not his fault the Camaro Z/28 and the C7 Z06 wipe their ass with Gtrs.
Pancho Villa Lol Z/28.... both Z06 and Z/28 is a piece of shit. I would say Z06 may have chance to hang with GTR on a very very tight road course like Laguna. Track like Willow, Nurburg, Monza, etc... Nope. Z/28 is a joke.
XiaoDanDragon American muscle trolls are worst.
ROCKETGUN MISSILE ua-cam.com/video/Ec273bYL4MI/v-deo.html here, have a look at the "Big Red Camaro" now before you compare a street car to a near super car just think first because you will sound idiotic. and second there are multiple times across the us where the new Z/28 has bested the GTR. and thats a heavy ass camaro. the C6 ZR1 barely lost to the GTR in Nurburgring. and the c7 Z06 is expected to post way better times than the C6 ZR1. so i think its time you get out of the 90's and face facts. Real Muscle American is back and is making its way slowly to the top again. and im not talking about bugatti or koenigsegg
The car is obviously built for the drag strip lol, so no I would hope they wouldn't take it on a road course
needs some gear
lol virginia speed
Small tire guys are going 4.10's.....just saying lol
If they're not blowing tires off, one, two it's easier to be consistent on big ass tire and three the cupholders tells me hr may try to do drag week in 2015..
4.8 in 1/4 mile ?????????????????????????????????????????
1/8th is wack!
