Twin Charging with SC and TC is best of both worlds... as long as the SC is Roots or Twin Screw. Depending on boost requirements, you can add a ton of power with zero throttle lag. This car is awesome on both Street and Track. We have set up several with and without cutoff clutch on SC. When force-feeding pressurized air from TC to SC, parasitic loss is almost zero. We have even overcharged the air from TC to SC, the SC helps balance out the exponential power curve the TC produces. SC has a linear power curve.
@@feral4mr2Thanks for comment. People started putting clutches on sc's to lessen parasitic loss at high rpm. But if pressurized air is being force fed to it, the power needed to turn sc is much less.
@@SJR_Media_Group Correct. And both sc and turbo are more efficient in full compound, iat's are not very high either. I only run 28psi with mine, w2a intercooler setup, rarely seen higher than 40 deg celsius on the track iat's.
@@feral4mr2Appreciate comments and feedback. I have seen where extreme high performance diesels are running up to 10 bar boost. That's almost 150 psi. They don't have same problems as do gasoline powered engines do.
@@feral4mr2Allow me to ramble... Another thing we are looking at are electric centrifical compressors. They don't have some of the plumbing issues tc's have. Wish someone would come out with an electric roots / twin screw sc. Centrifugal compressors don't have the nice linear boost curve like sc's. But with decent boost control, pressure on top of boost curve more easily handled. But who wants to waste boost out a waste gate. In fact we want to make as much boost as possible, even 10 or 20 bars. When you deliberately over boost to 10 or even 20 bars, the heat can be removed more efficiently. That is how an AC works. Fluid is compressed then pumped through air to air heat exchanger. More btu's can be removed this way, the hotter the fluid is the better. When the AC fluid pressure drop at expansion valve, fluid changes into gas and it gets really cold. Like using a paint can. When to spray paint, the can and fluid get cold. Or same as using your Gas BBQ. As Propane goes from high pressure in tank to low pressure, tank gets pretty cold. If air was pumped up 10 or 20 bars then put through heat exchange (water / air/ or even AC), then allowed to drop in pressure to 5 bars, temperature drop is significant. Excess pressurized air could be stored in a compressed air tank. Heat exchangers could be internal and external. This is instantaneous power, even more than naturally aspirated or roots / twin screw sc. Imagine if this was used with sc.
I had my turbo blow through my supercharger. Worked great with instant boost. The supercharger would suck spool the turbo and the turbo blowing into the supercharger would reduce the parasitic loss. Did about 400whp on a 1.6l mini cooper.
