That was about a 8-10 grade shrimp! Many years ago (at least 40 yrs) I spent one summer buying shrimp right off the boats before daylight at the Seabrook docks and selling them on the roadsides inland. That summer they were really abundant and cheap, and I could double my money. It was a God-send during a very difficult time for me and my family. What was left over from my sales every evening we would eat or freeze. We got very tired of eating shrimp. I am really enjoying your videos from back home. God bless you.
I’m the first person to comment in three months. I’ve been working on my cast netting for about 3 days and caught a crab. I use a method where I put the net over my shoulder.
Haaa, I like how its just all casual cast netting right now just like any other day...you have absolutely no idea that in just a few minutes you will be in for the fight of your life! 😆
Yo bro, the water in Kingwood has been clear blue with high visibility for the past week or so. You can do some cool sight casting videos for perch and bass right now probably.
You can't use a castnet for food? Wow! Here it's one of the most common ways of getting a feed of prawns (shrimp). The big ones (callled leader prawns) will get up over a foot long, but banana, tiger and king prawns are usually 6 to 9 inches long. Bay, estuary and endevour prawns tend to be on the smaller side but sweeter tasting. Sand flats are prime hunting grounds for mullet and whiting, particularly on a rising tide. I've had days where I caught more and better fish in a net than on a line lol. My kids love castnetting.
@@wildlifefishingshow dang. I'm always amazed at the differences that jar with the similarities. Can use a castnet here for a feed but can't use it in freshwater lol.
Ok disregard my comment from b4...lol...my bad.. I was thinking you did the cast net video first, then the stingray thing. Guess I should wait to the end of the video to comment🤪
Greetings again from the Arkansas Ozarks. (1) I got gaffed in the thumb by one of those little hard-head catfish one afternoon while working on a shrimp boat as a deck hand on Trinity Bay. He was about 3 inches long, and it was one most painful experiences I've ever had. The aching pain went right up to my shoulder, and lasted for hours. (2) I think that little striped fish with the huge eyes and mouth you netted was a baby Sheep's Head.
If I uploaded a video of every throw it would be too long to hold anyone's attention. I generally just edit the successful throws in. Sometimes people complain about only showing the successful throws but nobody would watch a video with lots of unsuccessful throws anyway, so not sure why they complain 🤷♂️ (not referring to anyone currently on this thread, just to be clear) To be fair though, I really did catch fish on nearly every throw this day. It was just an epic day.
Are most beaches like this I only cast net at this ship Channel and always get mullet but going to the beach soon and really want to catch bait at the shore

Nah tho this is awesome and one of my favorite things to do
That’s a freaking prawn!!!
Never seen a shrimp that big in my life. I've heard from guys here in Louisiana they've caught shrimp that big but you know fishermen and stories
Even the shrimp are bigger in Texas. Lol 🦐
I have that castnet lol! There’s nothing better than when you’re basic fishing and you get into something unexpected.
💯

Not in saltwater

@@wildlifefishingshow Where are you located? I know in Louisiana we can cast net for shrimp. Only thing you can't keep is game fish.
It might be the size of the net too. Certain nets sizes can be used for bait and others for food

You need to get a magnetic sheath for that knife, it's the second time you dropped it on that beach .
On 2 separate occasions.
I seen that big ass stingray. It was awesome

Yes sir it is painful
Yes stay away from those catfish. Could be a baby sheephead 👍
also from the ozark mountains kicked one of these it stuck in my foot theres still a blue spot there and hurt for week
Is this before or after the stingray?
Mostly right before
In Australia the small ones with the big eyes are called Ox eye Herring
I caught a stargazer a few weeks ago on crystal beach
What beach were you on?
I think that was a juvenile banded drum
What's the size of the cast net you're using?
There were millions of shrimp at Surfside last week i got 3.Buckets
Should’ve checked to see if it was one of those Tiger shrimps. No bueno for gulf shrimp.
my thoughts exactly
Good job
Looks like Bolivar Flats.
i think you can cast net mullet in season and eat them
We catch huge red drum on those big prawns
You in surfside??
Where is this place at?
I only saw shrimps with that size and that health color in the restaurant that cost me a lot.
How is it when I go to beach I throw cast net and nothing you throw cast net fish every time
He edits the video only shows the successful throws
@@Scale575 yep youtubers only show the success. no telling how many times he threw the net.

Depends entirely on the day
I’ve Never seen such brown water at the ocean
Yeah, it's mud from the Brazos river delta (I'm just about a mile down current from it).
Small fish was a sheephead.
i do believe you are not a fisherman !!!! nobody in his right mind would trow back a monster like that !!!!!!
What a shrimp wow
Salt water catfish!
SIMILAR TO OUR MANILA BAY WHICH IS NOW CLEAN.
Baby Sheepshead ?
oh my good
Whoa what was with the s.o.b??
Bruh
At 6:00 min it’s a baby blk drum
Why don’t u show us u shark fishing ?
It's in a separate video I already uploaded, the one I said to watch at the end of this one (got a big ray, no sharks took)
American silver perch
My guess is the striped baby fish was a Sheepshead.
You need to go little deeper n throw
🐠🐟⭐️⭐️🎯✊🏽🎯
I think that was tiger shrimp
The strange fish probably baby jack or pompano
I got a shrimp about the whole order that size they say everything is bigger in Texas got an a bait store
Double or triple by the way that was a rooster fish
