my wooden tent poles are splitting here is how I'm fixing them

hey guys, here's an update on my DIY canvas wall tent project. I experienced a slight setback with my tent pole splitting at the top. Here is how I fixed it. I'm looking for an easy cheap solution that might look a little better.
