That turned out beautiful! 👍👍👍 I do a lot of my staining with coffee and other organic/natural juicy berries and fresh grass... I figure if it won't come out of your clothes for several washes it will probably do fine on my carvings! 🤔😵💫🙄🎨💁👍👍👍 The nice thing about using coffee is that it is readily available everywhere for free. Coffee also cuts well with 97-99% alcohol and can create deeper penetration on some woods... definitely do a scrap test as 99% alcohol will remove some natural colors as those pigments are easily extracted... however I have never disliked my stains, it's just that some are more pronounced! 😳😵💫🙄🤨🤔 Also wrapping your item with a rag soaked in concentrated hot coffee and left to dry leaves a deeper and stain looks great too... again pre-check with a scrap for warping or twisting. Many of my totems are hand-size, so dropping them in a pot and left to soak overnight or for a few days gets the stain deeper into the grain. I also stain my carvings after doing the knife-shaping, but before the lettering, this way the lettering (down with a gouge) goes below the surface and reveals some lesser stained grain... this is okay as the lettering is always finished either with pyro or painted (you have to pyro or paint each letter again after you carve them out).... then oil the project like in the video! Coffee stains and oil protection works well together! 👍👍👍
Just wondering. Does the smell of coffee ever remain. I can't drink it but love the smell ! It would be nice to have an item that just gave off a nice level, rather than the god awful 'air fresheners' that burn my nostrils and eyeballs?!
Two questions sir. What was the white stuff you mixed with the coffee grounds? And what is the finish you use. I always admire how your finishes turn out.
I was told never tighten the first faceplate screw all the way down. To start it, then put another screw in tighten that one down then go across, tighten another working your way around and then finally tighten down the first screw.
I always wonder if these can hold water or if the tiny cracks are sufficient for it to not be able to. I have no idea why. I would never just put water in that but I always wonder.
I still say I can submerge my three Rolex watches in resin. If not, I’ll try three glazed donuts and three sugar donuts in resin. With a hand fill of coffee beans.
Great piece...with all that coffee you'll never get that bowl to sleep😂...bet it smelled good while turning...stay safe...press on 😎Joe PS...got my 1st video up...stop by and let me know what you think RADIO FACE WOOD WORKS
Love how the tone of the coffee and the bark sections match. Beautiful wood!
Thank you ☺️

I am mesmerized by that striking grain pattern
Have you turned wood like this before?
@@JackMackWoodturning No but I would love to sculpt with woodturning at some point.
Damn that’s stunning❤️ ever consider narration about the wood, its characteristics, and how the type of wood determines what your vision is?
No, I make entertainment videos. My opinion is not important 😉😉
What a beautiful piece of wood!
Love this channel and wait for your next.
Hell of a piece of wood, you did it justice.

Nice job 😊
Nice work as always 👌👌
Not sure if this is a weird question, but…. did it smell good when the coffee layer was being turned off of the wood?
Great 👍
I'm in love with this channel i have small wood lathe project I'm the only one interested in my town
How do you know no one else in your town likes Woodturning??
@@JackMackWoodturning I'm looking every where found no one wood turning products are not found every where in the market too..
That turned out beautiful! 👍👍👍

Thanks for sharing your knowledge in the subject. It’s all fascinating and il definitely be trying some natural stains.
Well done. I like coffee as a filler.
Amazing grain
Beautiful coffee staining.
What wood did you use for the main bowl.?
The grain is really nice
Why? Because it looks great!!
Two questions sir. What was the white stuff you mixed with the coffee grounds? And what is the finish you use. I always admire how your finishes turn out.
Them shavings would probably do a good project in resin
Bad ass all the way 👍👍💥💥
Thats nice ......
That’s a beautiful and somewhat unique bowl. I have to ask, Arabica Beans?
Nice
Thanks 👍
Beautiful piece. Did you just mix the coffee grounds with regular white wood glue?
Yes Jack, but does it smell like coffee? 😎
And to think: I've simply been (bean?) throwing my coffee grounds away! ;-)
Will you be saving them from now on?
Very nice, I wonder what is the substance we use as polisher at the end?
Wow! Amazing shape and grain. What timber is it? Kind of looks like Olive or ash?
beautiful piece! what is the finish you use?
❤❤❤
Beautiful! Is that ash?
Beautiful hollow form. Which oil do you use?
Gorgeous! What type of wood?

I would never just put water in that but I always wonder.
Would you care to tell me what the brown like plaster mix was made of?
Coffee… and PVA
I like it very much, Jack. And your method to fill in the gaps is really genious. PVA glue is simple woodglue, right?
PVA is just old fashioned Elmers glue like we used as kids.
@@kerryhardy4282 sorry, I'm German. I've never heard of Elmer's or PVA glue
It's white glue like kids use in school. At least that's in the United States.
❤

RADIO FACE WOOD WORKS
Hello sir what brand is your lathe
This is a vicmarc VL300
@@JackMackWoodturning thanks for your respond...
'I covered it with coffee!! But why??'; the bigger question is "why not???". 🤔🤔🤔
Hope you didn’t get high on caffeine! 😮
Always !!
Now do the sequel I smell what coffee did to my toilet lol
But why coffee? That is probably not nearly as strong as black walnut sawdust.
But who drinks black walnut sawdust? LoL grin 😊
There's always one person. Why not just enjoy his work?
