This clear and easy to understand video was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for not cluttering the video with unnecessary story and music. I applaud you and appreciate your video.
Thank you so much! It's crazy how hard it is to find a tutorial setting up a tarp solo with poles. What's even better is that you did a fabulous job explaining this. I really like how you showed the 4-pole configuration at the end. For some reason, my brain could only envision poles at the four corners and it would sag in the middle. What you did is ideal for many of my camping situations. I'll be watching this again to make sure I feel confident.
This is so clear and ease to understand. Thank you for not cluttering up the video with unnecessary story and music. I applaud you and appreciate your video. It is exactly what I was looking for!
Good day to you. I am a senior rider on HONDA from Japan. Enjoying touring ,camping and video uploading. This is so nice video Awesome!! Thank you so much for sharing! Full supported ! Have a nice day my friend!!
Thank you Ethan. At last a tarp set up without trees! Living in the UK we do a lot of camping in fields and meadows unlike North America and other parts the world where there are extensive forests. I always want to use a tarp but all the videos are about putting up tarp by strapping to trees. Your system is great for the kind of camping I do. Thanks
Happy to help 😊 . Wind is usually stronger in open field. if you want even more sturdy support against strong wind, can consider pole holder like this www.amazon.com/Noneea-Camping-Portable-Reinforced-Windproof/dp/B09ZHT9BL1/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2B034ND70UWW0&keywords=pole+holder+camping&qid=1689659322&sprefix=pole+holder+camping%2Caps%2C559&sr=8-3
Thank you so much for making this so clear! I love and appreciate that you didn't take any knowledge for granted and explained every detail without giving extra info that would make it confusing!
Nice video. To make it faster to set up, you could leave the guylines tied to the tarp permanently and then just bundle them up and fold the setup with them attached.
Awesome job man. Really enjoyed how you created this instruction professionally yet keeping it simple for everyone to follow. I’ll be using this as a guideline to setup the rain fly next week while out camping. Off to Amazon to get what i need which also you let me know perfectly haha. Cheers
Thank you so much for this video Ethan. I've watched several videos on how to do this. Yours is the best and easiest to understand and follow that I've seen. Thanks again, and take care.
This video really helpful for me who is new in this camping. The instructions were crystal clear, the video too, and make me easy to understand. Thank you so much 😊👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much for this very useful video! I often take my grandchildren out camping and I always have a problem setting up our tarp by myself. you make it look very easy and your style is clear and calm! Much love from The Netherlands.
First thing's first, you're awesome. The telescoping poles are fantastic. I wonder Campmor sells em. Great video. I could watch this while making one of these. You're the best. Thank you.
A new sub here, thankyou very much I'm watching ur video practice tying a Boylen knot... Being a beginner I really appreciate the time and energy you take to make videos like this for ppl like me, I do look forward to following your channel. Great stuff
Thanks for doing this video and it was very helpful and easy to follow through the setup process would like to see more videos like this and some how to setup a tarp to a vehicle.
Thank you!! This is great, I could only find videos using trees x I will be practising that knot and now we will have more room to cook under when camping .have subscribed to your channel.
Thank you for this. I have always hated setting up my tarp shade here in China. The experts will be looking at me desperately trying to set it up and I end up resorting to my pop up tent 😢
Thanks to you, Ethan, I now know which knot to use when tying the cord to the flysheet. Do you recommend the bowline knot if the tarp has grommets? Amazing educational video!!
Ethan would you mind doing a tarp set-up that you can put up and take down to your vehicle for a shade or cooking area. I'd really appreciate learning how to do this too
@@ethanhorizon thanks so much Ethan I am on my way to watch it... yuss 3 days ago I did actually attempt to put a tarp over my van 🥴 we had a break from bad weather, I started off well but ended up with guy lines everywhere coz the wind picked up it looked pretty messy but I thoroughly enjoyed the process, I can only do better and watch more videos and practise, your video is perfect timing, I got the house to myself. Once again thankyou I really appreciate you taking the time to put a video together have a fabulous weekend
Very helpful and to the point 😊. If you don’t mind me asking a stupid question, why not keep the lines attached to the tarp to save a step in the even of rainy weather?
Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, when you put away the tarp, you can keep the guy line tied to the tarp, so you can quickly setup the tarp next time. I should have mentioned it in the video 😊
It depends on how strong is the wind. I live in Malaysia, this setup can hold against relatively strong wind. The facing direction is also important. Don’t setup against the wind direction.
Very nicely done. No annoying music, no unnecessary yapping, no pandering. Right to the point. Don't change.

Don't need to agree. It was aperfect comment....

Very relevant for a beginner like me.

Perfectly explained. Glad I found this before camping, all the other videos were setups with trees.
Details were very important especially using steps to measure distance. Thanks for your humble demonstration.
Exactly what I need as a new camper - clear and straightforward. thanks for sharing!

Concise, illustrative, helpful. Love it!
Like so many good techniques, it's obvious once you've seen it demonstrated and explained. Thanks!
I wouldn't bother with the side poles, it looks much better with just 2 poles. Great vid, thanx.
Yes, 2 poles are fine for most situations.
Boom - this is the method I'll try first, many many thanks! Glad you enjoyed the trip to UK, will check it out. ✌

excellent, very succinct and informative.
Thanks Ethan! You got new subscriber.
Wonderful, thank you for sharing ... have you set up using a ridge-line pole before, does it make the tarp more resilient?
You mean horizontal ridge-line between 2 poles? It might not suitable in this case. Ridge line is better for between 2 trees.
Thank you so much. I have learned a new trick
Congratulations, well done

thanks Ethan you helped me
Very Helpful 👍👍👍...Thank You Explaining This I Greatly Appreciate This...
How well does this hold up in the wind?
It depends on how strong is the wind. I live in Malaysia, this setup can hold against relatively strong wind. The facing direction is also important. Don’t setup against the wind direction.
Lower overall height is better for windy days.
Also set the edge that faces the wind much lower.
Either way don’t hang on if the wind takes it! 😊
Nice work 👍
Great video man.. thanks
When bushcrafting, it's best to use a shelter or tent together with a tarp.
Can you do one video without the use of telescope poles? They cost a lot and are just dead weight for any other use.
Thanks for your input. Ok, I’ll make one in near future: light weight, backpacking style. Stay tuned 😁
Thank you for sharing 😊
