This made me actually lol! And I'll be honest, when they said smooth I thought they meant how the cart felt, not how it rolled. It wasn't until I read your comment that I was like 😒 and felt real dumb. Lmao
It's always expensive to buy food on most of those islands but one guy said for example St Barts is really expensive ... he said one uncooked rotisserie chicken is about $42 , pack of cigarettes $27 , dozen eggs about $14 . Crazy . But we don't know what they bought there they could have bought a couple bottles of wine and on those islands even the cheaper wines will cost a lot more .
Holy mackerel, that was some expensive grocery run! It's time to do a lot of fishing. Thank you guys for the quick update. Pets and hugs to the puppies and best wishes to you two for fair winds and smooth seas (and hopefully cheaper groceries) in the future.
Yep Bahamas and Caribbean are expensive. Just about everything is either shipped in or flown in so expect to pay close to double. Be glad your boat is also your house. You would not believe the hotel prices.
Honestly sounds like y'all could do with an off-road cart, basically kids red wagon but with higher sides, higher clearance, and big off road wheels. We have one for big picnics, they're brilliant and ours folds so it doesn't take up much space
When I heard the cost it didn't Surprise me. My mom, sis and brother went to live in the Bahamas in a house and we brought lots of dried goods, frozen meats etc to the island for that reason. We had alot of fun. But things like Milk and Bread were costly. Also Fuel.
I couldn't do this all the time. Just feels scary. Will take 1 horrible storm to turn a good week into a bad experience. Plus no one's really out there to save you if you mess up. Plus it looks exhausting. Good adventure tho.
I'm honestly jealous of y'all, You have the ability to travel anywhere you wish, You can fish all day and see the world without any distractions ,I admire that
I would suggest the joy of regrowing potted veg. Green onion radish garlic lettuce romaine a few others. So to avoid that scurvy between shopping trips. Easy to build a box to move them in and out but even better- seaweed is amazing fertilizer. Also compost food waste for fertilizer to eliminate some of the trash.
Adventure around every corner ✨️ My parents ⛵️ sailed around the world for 7 years when my dad retired at 50 they had their boat custody built and it was stainless steel, he did that bc of some good friends of his were sailing from Washington State to Hawaii when two whales were on either side of the Boat rubbing up against it and popped the boat they were stranded out to sea in a dingy for almost 30 days they even wrote a book about it. Anyway my dad has some amazing stories and loved the adventures they had for those 7 years ❤️
Glad to hear they was rescued! 30 days stranded is a long time in a dinghy, how did they go unrescued that long. Did no one bother to look for them, contact them coast guard or file a missing persons report at sea? I don’t understand how you can let your parents fall the face off the earth for 30 days and never try to contact them or get updates from them.
@@anandabliss9997 reread and also I doubt they have have radio on the dingy and do you realize how big the ocean is and how the waves move you all over and how hard it's very hard to locate someone stranded at sea
What kind of boat did your dad’s friends choose to sail thousands of miles in that could be popped? It’s a boat, not a balloon animal. Good thing your dad had one “custody built”. Thanks for the boat emoji before the word “sailed” too; we wouldn’t have understood by just reading what you wrote. Need that little picture.
Those bags can be reused in a large variety of ways. I use em for organizing small parts of whatever, keeping certain things sealed/dry, or as small trash bags for the bathroom/bedroom. If utilized properly those “single use” produce bags can come in handy. It’s just super ghetto haha
That’s our hometown. Way too expensive for most locals with the little money we make so we left and are nomads who travel the world full-time now! The prices are high because we import almost everything from the US and the government adds import duties on top of that so the mark-ups are HIGH for consumers to pay. Especially when minimum wage is only $210 per week.
There is a divider in the buggy? That’s awesome, never seen anything like that before. U could seperate fridge and freezer stuff as u buy and bag that way no need to sort when u get home. That’s awesome
Food and fuel are skyrocketing! My nephew works in fuel contracts and they are expecting diesel to be sold around $12/gal by early fall. Be glad you have sails!!
Sounds like you need to cultivate some friendships across the island: is there items you can trade or barter for fresh fruit? Even if it is canned goods from the mainland or hard to acquire home goods that might cost too much for inhabitants to bring to their home. i would also look to buy straight from the garden rather than a store. They have to pass the costs along for bringing goods out plus overhead.
They have reusable fruit and vegetable netted carriers to reduce the amount of plastic while traveling. They store very small and easy. Just a suggestion.
I just overflowed the biggest double shopping cart at Whole Foods and it was only $350 LOL that's an insane bill for only that small amount of food lol
@@1ofEve Anything and everything. From sponsorships to social media, side hussles, and passengers. There are a few ways to make money if you have a big enough boat and sail regularly between ports.

Groceries down there are so, so expensive!! Americans think their groceries are expensive, go to a grocery store there, gallon of milk is like $8.

Good thing they make internet money so they can live anywhere. All you have to do is make videos of social stuff and people watch then you make money. Food is socializing, living together is socializing. People like socializing stuff
That's because you went to the expensive store: they bring in fancier brands and more organic foods. If you'd had more time there was another one not too far away to walk....welcome to the joys of shopping in the capital. Just wait till you head to a Family Island. Island living isn't cheap! Also, you're brave being here during hurricane season; best of luck!
Handy tip. Take that cable lock with rotating cylinder and hold the cable about 24in from the lock on each side with the cylinder behind the pole and snatch it hard. You will need to go get a cable with loops on each end and a lock with a Boron carbide shackle right after that cause your cable lock will break rather easily. The boron alloy shackle will resist most cutting attempts and is much more secure. Also note there are several different locks specific to protect your outboard as well.
