@mattaddison1910point is that there’s PLENTY of rich kids out there and very, very few ever take advantage of their privileged access to resources to undertake such an arduous undertaking. I respect it. Most rich kids prefer to flaunt their parents wealth and know nothing of hard work due to their upbringing. This kid, whose upbringing we know nothing about, clearly has spent a lot of time learning to sail and pushes himself into these kinds of challenges. He’s humble and doesn’t brag about his boat or anything like that.

Hey man, sailor here, I've been sailing ever since I was 14. A few things for you, try not to think about being alone too much, there is thousands of boats out there you just can't see them! You'll only destroy your own experience if you let fear overpower you. And try not to be too scared as sail boats are really safe 90% of the time. Also, good job clipping on whenever you went onto the bow and sides, I've met so many people who don't bother. Keep going hard and stay adventures. Gorgeous boat by the way.
Very Impressive! I doubt you realize at your age how much men in general need to see the courage and strength you are displaying with your journey. It is very inspirational to hear you discuss your fears while continuing to overcome them.
@@simmiesim321 sad comment! Instead of supporting a young man and his efforts you need to turn the attention to yourself. I’m sure you sailed 26 days by yourself at 19 years old but no one I personally know has accomplished that at such a young age. What a self centered clown

@@garrettsadventurehey man I’m 23 and still saving up for a boat. Im born and raised from Samoa and have been sailing my whole life on boats half the size of yours. How did you logistically pull this off at 19? Owning such a boat at an age with no facial hair 😅
I must say, that looks utterly terrifying, and I think this is certainly a huge accomplishment. What an incredible, unique, curious driven experience you have had at only 19. Seriously, awesome, your courage to take something like this on and actually follow through with it is cool to watch
So far a wonderful adventure. When I was in your age area I was living aboard my S&S Chris Pawnee 26. I sailed her thousands of ocean miles. She lacked 2 things that your boat also lacks, as you found out the hard way. 1. A sea hood to protect the companionway slider from water forcing in. And 2. A cockpit dodger. And with skin like yours ( I’m the same) some sort of Bimini top or cockpit shade. Watch that sun, it killed my identical twin brother in his thirties. All of my cruising boats in the future had these 3 features. You, otherwise have a very nice boat. She goes windward well, especially for a heavy displacement full keel, and with that narrow beam (like my Alberg 35), she is easily driven. Interestingly, you have about the same waterline length as my A-35! Very good for you. My next boat a Kelly Peterson 44 had 39’ waterline. I shopped for waterline! Well enjoy the adventure! Looks like you are. Love it. Great job! PS. I’m now near 80 and still sailing!
As Christian Williams says on his channel, it's cheaper to just buy a large umbrella for a patio and put that over your cockpit as it will will just fine in most weather and you can take it down and heave to when it's not. Best to spend some effort modifying your entrance to be more water resistant
Wow, Fred, 80 & still going strong! I'm 69 & realize if I want this I should just start. I'll sail till the funds run dry, in 2027 or so. And leave behind the unfolding collapse of the West, world war, drought/famine/Great Depression2, etc ... 🥳 I'd rather be sailing!

When I turned 18, I graduated high school, and solo cycled across the US. There were often many days where I got frustrated, and just got so tired of the contact little pokes during the trip. Some days it would really get to me, and i would be on a road in the absolute middle of nowhere, and would just yell into the world. However, as frustrated as I got, I still had to keep pedaling forward. During your trip, I can tell that the pokes were starting to get to you. The little things like a minor water leak, or the contact sound of your sail, they start to drive you insane. Yet at the days go on, you had no choice but to continue on, and really learn your mental limits. I’m not sure about you, but to me, both of our trips seemed like our into adult passage trips. You learn more in such a span of time than if you were to stick to a traditional route. You really learn who you are, and you learn how to become more mentally mature when dealing with stressful situations. The rage is normal, we all get to our limits, but what’s most important is how we react. Anyways, I’m glad that at the end of the day, you still had a wonderful trip. An experience that you will hold for the rest of your life. This was beyond impressive to say the least, and I understand what that felt like to you. I wish you the best in life, and keep living your own adventure.

No matter the age or class upbringing, it doesn’t matter. This takes rock solid confidence, intelligence, patience and competence to do so and it is a hell of an achievement. Hella inspiring!
@mattaddison1910you’re ridiculous if you think that. Only great people are worthy of completing such a task.

Much respect to you. Very brave doing this long trip solo. No one to turn to for help.
@@norml.hugh-mann Yes, water tight integrity is top priority.
