Bmo owes her the money back. Disgusting that she had to get the tv involved to get them to do the right thing. What a crappy bank😡
Why should BMO be responsible? As a traveler, you should research the risks before you go and if you want to pay cash and they won’t accept it, don’t use the service! Can you imagine if banks had to reimburse everyone who wasn’t diligent with their CC. You can’t fix stupid!
Yea it’s her money. A bank just stores it for her. The bank didn’t get scammed she did
BMO really sucks.
How can they deny her claim?
Because they didn’t make the payment, she did.
How is this anyone else’s fault except her own?
@@Ont785 Most credit cards have fraud protection. You need to receive reasonable value for your purchases and it needs to be clear on the price not to be fraud. She had a receipt showing her payment which was not for $7000, which proves fraud was committed.
@@Ont785It’s not her fault!
They clearly charged her in $USD instead of local currency.

Partially, it is.
I have a few credit cards. I don’t use the $10,000 limit one for pizza and cab rides.
I carry cash for small purchases.
I read up on the destination before I leave.
I’m sorry she was targeted, but she shouldn’t have to. Change her habits? BMO will keep paying the bill?
@@Ont785 Bimo didn’t pay the bill.
She fought the false charges & BIMO proves them to be false at the Bank that the cabbie uses.
He gets paid only for the run he actually drove!
wow, crazy.. I am always leery when using my credit card when travelling..
Of course crappy BMO service as usual.
when in South America use *cash* if not dealing with large businesses or hotels or airports. Local shops, taxis, touristic areas are prime for scamming like this one
Chile off my bucket list
Why
I am Chilean living in Canada and I feel ashamed, sorry😢
It’s literal highway robbery!
They probably had a skimmer
Why is it that BMO always denies reimbursement until a third party gets involved? I think their customer service needs to be considered before anyone decides to open accounts with this bank.
Pretty lame on the bank's part that a national news agency has to get involved to get the client's money back. Two scammers in this story.
How is this is the banks fault?
@@Ont785 so, if someone skims your card info, then fraudulently uses that info, that doesn't qualify as fraud? How does that work?
@@tacobeef
I didn’t say that.
Your arguments is that she can make no other changes? Next trip BMW just pays the fraud?
How about a card with a smaller limit for pizza and Chilean cab rides?
How about cash for small purchases?
How about reading up on the destination to be aware of these frauds, that were identified by the Canadian consulate?
Of course it’s fraud, but it’s not like she did anything preventive except wear scarf
@@Ont785 Never said it was the banks fault.
@@Ont785 Never said it was the banks fault.
I'll never get scammed because my credit card is in the wifes purse! lol
Basically $47 USD
Using Uber eliminates this concern. I visited Chile, Peru, Argentina in 2022 and had no issues getting caught in any scams.
I use Uber wherever possible, however there is still a large number of places where Uber doesn't operate. In some of those places there are other rideshare services available, so I try to get those apps before I land, but some places you're just out of luck and just have to be as careful as possible.
These banks don't care unless you go public and make yourself look gullible
This isn’t that complicated.
You pay by cash, or you don’t take the taxi.
World travelers, without any world experience…
Not sure why BMO had initially denied her claim since she clearly didn't authorize the [fraudulent] charge.
BMO? lmao i knew she was out of luck 😂
BMO should have handled the dispute better. The traveler had a receipt.
BMO is getting quite a reputation
Wow. Got to really be more careful now. This could happen anywhere 😮
Her husband must be furious.
Traveling to South America or an unfamiliar country is better to use cash. I hate surprises
lol BMO strikes again. No idea why anyone would bank with them.
Check your balance right in front of the Driver.
I know right if that was TD bank in Canada they’d definitely do something about it
BMO bank is a joke
Will be avoiding Chile.
Why
Vacationing is too much of a hassle, best part's saying you're going!
She should stay home
I was planning for an overseas trip before the pandemic. I requested a certain amount of foreign currency to be withdrawn in a few days. The bank teller asked me why prepare so much cash instead of paying visa.
I told her that I don't want to pay for hidden charges when I am traveling overseas and try to argue with the bank afterward. She actually agreed with me.
BMO again
BMO is an acronym for Banksters of Montreal.
SHACKLADY ?????????????
😮
Nearly $7,000- for a ten minute taxi ride!
That’s really nasty!
I hope they can get her money back!
Yaa almost 5 million peso
it is embarrassing for everyone to be bashing BMO after they refunded the whole amount out of goodwill.
Goodwill my ass. Don't advertise fraud protection if you don't protect against fraud
avoid BMO, not chile
I’ll bet our prime minister’s probably thinking of expanding immigration from Chile now.
Thats how it goes folks. We have excess wealth in our nation.
You go to a poorer nation you look like a money pinãta.
Shouldn't have told cabbie you were from Canada. The whole world knows we're suckers
TD Bank has never denied me...BMO = SUCKS
Hahaha hilarious!
😂😂😂😂😂
Justin Trudeaus carbon tax outside Canada 😂
Lol everyone in this story sucks
