The Banu Merchantman can't do it all but there isn't much it can't do. Its important to note that it was also said to be a blockade runner because of its durability and speed, which is to say it is rated for military ship engagements, and is written to also be one of the main ships that makes up the Banu military fleets when they are mustered for war, further reinforcing its defense and offensive abilities.
I always find it funny how people forget this fact and say things like "but it's a merchant ship".
I think of it in a sense to a powerful pirate ship full of treasure that you'd mostly be better of avoiding one on one (depending on what your rocking).
There's certainly more offense focused larger ships out there, but this isn't a Hull series ship.
To be fair, the blockade runner thing was more or less dropped when it grew to full blown capital ship size.
This, while i think the blockade runner aspect is basically gone due to it's new size it's basically a multirole militia ship that can most likely be configured for several roles depending on warfare situation.
The Merchentman is definitely one of if not the most popular unreleased ships. It's extremely cool.
It's a 10 in my book, one of my best buys.
Only regret I have, it's taking them a long time getting it in.
But I will never get rid of it.

I do want one but sadly I'm pretty sure they said it would be one of the last released I forgot but I'm gonna rewatch the video on it
Imagine the BMM with the market and stores stripped out. Replace with armory, weapon stores, military supplies in the cargo hold, combat vehicle hangar, repair supplies, etc. Replace conference room with war room. The BMM is also supposed to be fast and heavily armored. It already has the guns to outgun a Perseus and Idris-P. At the price that the BMM is at, this is the warship that many actually want.

That's one reason why the Perseus is such a head scratcher for me. In game the BMM has capital class components, relatively similar firepower, a hanger, medbay, and massive amounts of cargo capacity. The BMM either needs to go even further up in price or CIG just needs to admit they made a mistake with the Perseus pricing and lower it. I just don't see a world where in game the Perseus won't be cheaper, and yet it costs more on the website.
I suspect they will go the price hike route. Probably near 900 when it's out, matching the 890j and being below 1k to prevent the "auto LTI" threshold
@@schlagzahne6741 Probably the most likely outcome. It’s easily the best “deal” in Star Citizen for those of who got it before the price jumping. The fact it can fully crew all weapons with only a crew of 4 is insane.
With the repost I thought I had a bad case of "deja vu". The "corrected price for the BMM concept helped me a lot 😂
As I said, got the ship pretty early, around 280 something euros (VAT included).
Loved the ship then, love the ship now. It will be my home for sure ...
I have to say that architectural style of the BMM is top notch. It is also my list of ships that I might get.
That architecture is also her Achilles heel and why development stopped after losing the lead developer. I hope they get it sorted soon!😊

I love the inside, but the outside screams Origin.
The Banu have a history of shady dealings in some clans so I don't think the old design was that bad.
But neither design externally corrolates to the Defender.
Most manufactures ships have a certain look about them that ties them in.
Still, we'll see where the Merchantman's journey takes this amazing ship.
If nothing else, the interior design ticks all the boxes for me.
Well they still have 3 1/2 months of work before Alien Week so dont count it out yet as far as design.
@@billionaireninjasIt truly is a waiting game, but I'm happy to wait, I just want the BMM to get the treatment it and it's backers deserve, having been in backlog hell for as long as it's been like some other older concept ships out there still.
And hopefully it's lore is represented to a reasonable degree to, can't wait to see it's future.
Hopefully the prayer/meditation area is modular to be changed out too
Love the redesign. Its does not look as cool but it could probably go in to a asteroid field now without hitting every rock on its way. Also i love that while its not a dedicated warship it is deployd in warzone at times of war and the guns and defensive turrets show it. Unlike my poor carrack that would die and got nothing to aid it. Got the carrack for the modular possebilities and its deep background in the army. Sadly the punch got taken out of it. So its a fun modular ship that sort of can defend itself when it runs for its life. But its always a gamble when you buy a consept 6 years before they are built.

I wish I hadnt melted my original bmm. But as it grew, I didn't know how much use I would have for all that space.
The Banu Merchantman is a beautiful ship. I felt bad for my friend who has one when it was not finished. But he is patient. I'm looking forward to seeing it in game.
This is the only Alien ship I own and it's one of the best ships I own

At the very end-game in ANY game, what do players usually do? They get sick swag! They get he awesome cosmetics!

Plenty of people have one including myself who will be looking for someone to Captain and Crew the ships so you don't really need to buy one to experience it. Stick with someone long enough and you will have your own by buying it in-game.
Definitely don't have to buy one to experience one!
The Banu MM truly deserves a 10. Seems like a great ship to live in as well.

Love your videos, but when you say "salesmen in all of us" I had to toss my headphones off. Way too loud. You are by far one of the best SC voices to listen too, but wow it was loud. Maybe I'm just old. :) Anyway good job.
Ah apologies. I'm still working on equalizing the sound. I speak really close to the mic so I normally go in and lower the more excitable parts. I started editing with headphones on but it's still difficult to tell how it will flow through other's headphones. All I can suggest is putting the volume at less than max until I can figure it out. But I promise i'm working on it. Audio is a big deal to me.
It didn’t seem to loud to me. Maybe your headphones are pumped up or the volume increased idk.

I've got one of these since I had the OG CCUs for $250. Seeing this was in development was so exciting and now that we've seen the Idris you can image the possibilities of this ship with multiplayer.
Using this a base with NPC vendors or letting crew have their own shops sounds fun. This thing will literally be a massive target for pirates though.
Yes thats why it has so many guns, it wont be an easy fight if the onboard crew is skilled.
I love the BMM and have a chain for it but in the end it might be just too big for me.
Now I just wait and see how it evolves and how will price/maintenance of ships impact gameplay.
If CIG was doing a half size BMM kind of ship I think I would just choose this smaller variant, for like 3-4 crew max :D
I have a BMM that I chained into LTI. I also have chains to an Orion (alt account) and a Hull D. The only small ship I have is a concept Zeus MK II ES which I got for the large radar to pave the way. I figure the small ships will be easy to acquire with a run or 2 of my Orion once it's in game.
The biggest problem with this ship is that 99% of the owners are solo players with big solo gameplay dreams and it's going to need MANY crew to work the vision. Maybe an entire org to supply it, run it, and defend it. The second biggest problem is the friction between the lore of this ship being super rare and special, and the thousands upon thousands that have been sold.
She's a beauty, and is definitely the ship I aim to use as my home once it's in game
unfortunately it is currently set on the side for now because the original devs for the ship no longer are with cig so who picks it up next will be working on something that isnt their creation.
We need more alien ships !
i bought mine for $250, it was going to be my flagship then, it still is now. the bmm always was and always will be my favorite ship in the game.

I'm doing the ships in alphabetical order to keep myself from playing favorites. So RSI is pretty far in the future. However stay on the lookout for some walkthroughs of some rsi ships.

I managed to get the Banu MM for 150 dollars after melting my old ships. Now worth 650 dollars. Id say I made a pretty good investment. But I aint selling it for anything less than 2000 dollars
Nice! I paid 350 originally for mine but then melted it so I could get it at $250 during that crazy CCU chain sale a while back. Its never being sold, at best it will be upgraded to a Banu Merch variant lol

I think it will be fairly easy just a bit more dangerous because you need to Eva to the ship unless its at a space station.

This went from 200 to 650? At 200 is a steal, ok, but 650, damn, this is almost 11 AAA games for a concept ship, not for me.
Most of us got them at $250.
I respect the hell out of this. The amount we're spending on one game is a bit intense. I will say that with a triple A game you get maybe a hundred hours of game play if you're lucky. Whereas with Star Citizen you're looking at 10's of thousands of hours.
Hope they add a ground vehicle made by Banu to go with it the merchantman
First time seeing a video of yours. The BMM is definitely a tough one to cover given its extensive changes. I had no clue it had a hanger so thanks for the new details!

The BBM is a really great looking ship. I picked one up as a concept and it has only gotten better with the redesign.
Love the MERCHANTMAN but it does not look very Alien on the exterior. Love the interior though. Have no problem waiting until they have a design team who can do it justice. I am not expecting to see it any time soon. It's going to be the most stolen ship in the game. Owners will be lucky to still have it at the end of a play session...
I think you underestimate the BMMs hull. It'll sit somewhere closer to a Polaris or so. Oh and it won't come with a Defender. They sold it in the past with a defender in a pack as seperate items. Would be strange to do this and not telling the buyers that a Defender is already included. Don't know where this rumor comes from but CIG never said anything that hints towards a secret defender.
Corsair is a great prize and I think the Merchantman will be great for Orgs or whales...🧐

Packs some big guns but they will really only be useful against other big ships or to clear an escape route- not sure how she will really go slugging it out in combat. Still a favourite.
MM could be gilding the lilly . Hull D is my cunning plan . Options for modular defense and other practical things . Oh Point Defense was offered for my 890 Jump , but not seen yet ?
This is the one ship that I would absolutely love have in my hanger but I can't justify supporting a purchasing it with it being on the backburner for a long time. The moment that they mention it again, Im gonna bite the bullet
The cartography map suggest it may be room for epxloration, the 400i seemed to have a room for a jaccuzi tho.
well... a cutty would be a nice ship to have... alot nicer for general use than a Merchantman or it's loaners

I’m building chains for both Banus from a Nox 2-pk. The BMM could be my end game activity, but only if I can (10) self crew it with extra game packs. If not then sadly I’ll sell the two on the grey.
What was the source that the Defender could already come with the Merchant Man?
No source it was just a rumor and has already been debunked!
The BMM should never be white, it looks like any other basic ship in white.
Black, gold scales like the defender, anything unusual or unique is better
I'm 1000% certain that they will have skins for the BMM when it launches. I can't wait to buy every single one of them lol

Will the shops on the ship be automated or will it require player interaction to sale things?
They've said you can hire NPC's to crew the shops but all I've heard are rumors for automated kiosks. I would guess you can have standard kiosks though since the asset already exists. Otherwise the crew count might increase drastically.

It definitely does not come with a banu defender you will need to purchase that separately.

As i managed to squeeze it down to 175 bucks im satisfied with it...if we ever get our hands on it.

9/10 for being the biggest atmos cargo hauler, but I don't like the market thing in the middle
Its should have really big fuel tank "S" because it will travel the galaxy and should have a really good quantum drive that you can upgrade.
I gotta find a decent mind map software and lay out some techniques for CIG to use.
Omg yes! I keep saying I'll buy one if I can get one without the market, and that space used for something else, or just more cargo etc. I'd be happy this with medical and cargo lol and I also would live in it too 😂
It took so much to build it I highly doubt that they wont use those assets at least one more time in a variant.

I love everything about this ship, a clear 10/10 also in terms of rule of cool but I hate the fact that it doesn't seem to have any windows...
I dont know if that will be the final look though...it may be one way window.
@@billionaireninjas yeah I thought about that too… it‘s just, on none of their footage can we see any windows thats why I felt it was lacking them… its not final, I get it, just hope it‘s not gonna be an oversight on their part
BMM should be Capital. Yeah it's expensive for those components, but if you think about it, that's all insurance.

(during freefly when they added "No idea where I'm landing" ship... I'm waiting for new UI and/or server meshing, or obviously BMM, though probably would be good to checkout what they concocted with master modes)
For me it needs another pair of point defence turrets, like towards the nose one on top and bottom.
We'll see what the current ones do. I think you're the first person I've ever heard say it needs more guns lol
@@billionaireninjasI think their some major blind spot and some weakness for a ship this size, like the top half of the ship only has one turret and two small points defence turrets. The other two turrets are underneath the wings, so there arcs are limited. The extra point defense turrets give some relief for incoming threats. But in truth I think the 2 turrets with size 4 should be size 5.

As someone who has a BMM in his hanger I fear we will never see this ship. There is to much talk from CIG about how time conumsing this beast would be to fully develop with that development being purely for 1 ship so assets wouldnt be re-useable.. Hope Im wrong.
I'm thinking Alien week this year! The way they talked about it at citcon made me think they wont make it through another round of where's the merchantman and the heaviest question going into June will be that exact question.

Interested on seeing if any exploratory value in this ship. An ex variant perhaps, or would that make it too good?
I think it is already capable of exploration as it has the fuel for it, the holo table, and the massive computers and radar. It won't be as good at it as dedicated explorers but it will be able to manage.

i decided i dont want the banu after they changed the look from the original concept ... now it looks taccy not classy and considering its supposed to be both a home and a battleship its not very dommineering atall so i wont ever get one unless they revert back to the original concept style

@@billionaireninjas yes i saw your review (I'm a simp... erhem... a Follower) my point is that none of these ships are seen in game, i doubt there are more than 10 in the verse, simply because this are Pledge only ships, is the reason why you made this video with.. 'available video sources' instead of actual footage, right? just saying, not judging, i would have done same.
Once they can be bought in game, we may see them more often.

If you wished to pledge for the star engine and the sq42 it's pretty done actualy, If you're already aware of the situation in star citizen and find an arguement that seems to ge a good idea to invest more let's be open minded, but if it's to begin to worship CIG like we did worship triple A games we're only getting into some endless cycle. don't give up on cig but don't blindly trust anyways.
