In todays video we go back and re - examine the Star Citizens Banu Merchantman. Although production of this massive ship has been temporarily paused there are some new areas of the ship we can look at in more detail.The Banu Merchantman is a trading ship capable of landing or docking and then inviting locals in to view what its cargo holds have to offer. The ship design, perfected by generations of Banu development, is intended to offer a combination of high speed and durability. While the Merchantman is less configurable than a Caterpillar or a Starfarer, there's still plenty of room to take the ship in different directions.

The Banu Merchantman, a ship that is full of future gaming potential and certainly puts the great into freight. Built by the BANU alien species, the BMM will assuredly be a asset within the Star Citizen verse. Built with firepower, glamour and versatiltiy 28000scu and two size 8 guns on the nose make for good times and i very much look foward to its arrival! BUT what do you guys think? @James-lf4dp I think it was 3 markets , but the ship is so big it could very well be 4 . In fact the ship is so colossal in size it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was 4.

I can't freaking wait for my BMM. I was lucky enough to get it for $250. The BMM is going to be my daily flyer, my home, my business, my life. The BMM has me beyond stoked with excitement! She will make Origin 890's like like a discount carnival cruise ship when she's done.

Truly believe that CIG owe it to us to develop the BMM after so many years. The potential to change the game that this type of ship has is amazing.

Nice picture of a concept. Hopefully they can at some point start working on it again. As it has now been placed behind several other capital size ships in the development pipeline, not expecting it any time 'soon'.

I got it early and thank goodness for that. I'm a massive fan of it, though the latest work we've seen on the interior whitebox has me thinking that they are wasting a LOT of internal space, specifically with the top turret room. It's literally just a chair to go up into the top turret; I don't want a room larger than my house just for that. Add an armory or expand living quarters or something with that extra space. Other than that, I cannot wait. One quick edit: It's actually 2,880 SCU of cargo, not a measly 2,000! :D

I always Imagine the Defender to dock into the wing part or the backside by the engine, like a parasit. So you could have two defenders or keep the hangar and have three. As the entrance of the Defender is in front. And then detach and fall of/out, think the Constellation Phoenix :)

@@11Rorschach11 and you can tweak their tachyon so they can become tractor beams and help the MM to load/unload its cargo
Its genius. You can use this thing as a hauler with makjng profit and additionally while loading on and off you can sell your stuff to customers in style( so like luxury goods etc)
Every time I see the version of the BMM like the one you have in your thumbnail it reminds me of a space cruise ship as if it were the 890J's big brother the 1090L. It just doesn't look like the original design enough. It looks like an Origin ship now and that's too bad.
I used to own one and it was going to be my main ship, but since I usually play alone and don’t know how easy it will be to pay for and repair due to its exotic nature, I’ve gone down to 600i and smaller for my ships
yeah i understand that thought process, luckily the 600i is a superb ship and will only get better with the re-work.
Old interview with CR so take it with a grain of salt, but CR mentioned that bigger ships would have certain missions opened up to them for greater profit potential so the upkeep should not be as bad as some may have you think. Great use of market will be like ORG functions, buy like 200 sets of various gear and weapons and use the Merchantman as a way to sell gear during events or such. Hopefully it will have some sort of terminal access where players can buy and sell without having to use trust and the MO trader

This is the only other Capital ship I'd consider, other than the Endeavor (which own lol). I like non combat loops in games like SC and Elite Dangerous. Trading, medical, exploration, mining (if it is fun to do, like DC mining in ED), salvage, racing etc. I like occasional bounty hunting and anti piracy, but not into PvPing.
I love being in the Defender, so know I'll enjoy exploring the BMM, eventually ☺️

Began building a CCU chain for the BMM since they offered a $50 Warbond CCU during the recent Alien Week. I plan to enhance and close this CCU chain during the upcoming IAE! Big thanks for a great, in-depth video on a magnificent ship! * gives a sharp salute *🫡
Have an ORION/Arrastrra/Nautilus/Perseus/Odyssey/Galaxy/Zeus_ES-MR/Railen/Raven and more, yet i don't really have an idea where the BMM will fit, have a ''Carrack to BMM CCU'', and if its not too hippy, ill finish it, not keen on the design or size though, so we'll see. A lot of solo dreamers will be in for a shock
so the million dollar question is will we ever see this ship? Is anyone working on it now, and if not, how many YEARS before they do?
Work had started, but due to devs leaving, the ship production has been put on hold. The dev team are now focusing their efforts on the RSI brand. When the polaris,perseus, galaxy are complete.. polaris this year. Then work should continue on the bmm. As for time frame? How long is a piece of string?

I wish i cloud sell mine, but sadly it's bound to my account. Bought it when it was 90m and alien looking. Have no use for a 240m giant as a solo player and really hate the luxury Origin style. 😢
When it comes out Ima use mine to replace the c2 for our fleets vehicle transport for events and such.
Something to add as well, you may or may of not known, the boarding ramp when it’s fully extended in flight acts as a fuel scoop.
The Space around the tower would be a really nice Armoury
I hope in time they pair the BMM with a banu vehicle/snub craft or give us the Defender included in the cost. Since the 600i and Connie's come with the rover etc. Watching this 9 months late but have just got a ccu to one from my 600i, not applied as I think the rework will come before the BMM
How would this fair against a squadron of ares starfighters (especially when they balance the ion)? This will be some fun hunting!
Fyi, by squadron, I imagine the minimum size for a squadron of 8, with 4 ions leading the charge and 4 infernos cleaning up once the shields are weakened
The front weapons are size 8, confirmed by CIG.

the cockpit of the banu with the new design always makes me think it detaches into a seperate ship leaving the storefront behind but i doubt it lol
Banu Merchentman certainly looks better then the 890 Jump. Surely is the best looking ship.

I feel like Banu ships will be the Orgin of alien types. Other alien ships are all rugged or monolithic looking. Banu ships seem sleek and elegant.

Never seen the retracting size 7 nose guns, that’s badass.
However, I can’t get over feeling like it’s the 890 jump frame. Meaning it doesn’t seem 100% original.
Something with the lore that this has shouldn’t feel like ship wrapped around another ship. In my opinion.
It is 100% hand sculpted and handmade. There is 0 890J asset used for the BMM. They do borrow the goose shape both of them, which I guess is a resemblance, but that's about all.

I suspect the dev was pinch over to star atlas.. But these kind of tech is something star atlas wont be able to get with the current 45 dev. Nonetheless, cig should rebuild the team
How many ways can the BMM be used at the same time? One thing i don't like, it looks like i'm gonna feel like a toddler in this ship

i see the appeal of the BMM, but in my eyes its just a fat juicy target for my size 10's lol
I mean, any large trading ship to be fair. But no matter the size, civilian ships will be much much cheaper to run than an Idris, that includes the Kraken. And without permanant player crew, or an AI crew that will rip any wallet appart with their wages, you won't be fireing that S10 often.

It has a hanger purposely made for the defender, but I do not believe you receive a free defender with the purchase of the BMM

@@instrutordearmamento forgot lol but damn for refrence the carrack and bmm are similar and if they carrack comes with a pisces which is damn near essential why wouldnt the bmm come with a defender?.. also for reference the 890 is a luxury ship while both bmm and carrack serve a purpose
Superb ship but one that we won't see in the game for years to come like the Endeavor. That's why I changed mine to Polaris which should be released in the next 2 years!

I'm hoping the flood gates will be opened once CIG has released and stabilized 4.0 server meshing. I was also going to get the Endeavor for my alt account but have since decided on upgrading to the Orion this IAE.
We are a small Christian military org .We bought a BMM when it was announced it had size 8 guns . We want to haul off the loot and no other ship has the firepower , toughness and can haul 2800 scu of loot in style to resale .

The BMM isn't a looter, it's going to be the looted! It's a pirate loot pinata.
We are going to be big fat juicy Pinata's so we will have to band together and convoy our BMM's in and out of the gates. I'm guessing 4 BMM's with accompanying fighters will dissuade all but the largest pirate orgs from attacking.
4 bmms would be a truly awesome inspiring sight!
1 or 2 because they are incredibly well defended and are used as warships to do stockades and other defence roles by the banu and with the 2xs8 pilot guns and 2xs5 guns on the top turret i dont think many people would dare to block your path besides other merchantmans or an idris-m with the railgun but even then the merchantman would probobly out manuver the idris line of ships
@@travisj2370They aren't well defended at all. Those D8 won't hit anything smaller than the BMM itself and a handful of turrets won'tbe enough to protect it. OP was right and only a convoy will make any BMM secure.
A single Retaliator will be the doom of a whole BMM.
I only just came back to SC after taking a break since 2016 or so. I just learned of the BMM and I really need to have one. I hope it's up for purchase during the 2024 Alien Week. I'll have to get in at a higher price, but this thing is perfect for what I want to do in SC.
Alien ships are a bit whack, I have the banu on order but will probably switch it for a 'human' ship before it's released. It just breaks immersion to be in an alien ship, unless you're some sort of alien role player.

I don't see how this ship can be functional and think that's why they're dragging their feet on it. How can the shops be incorporated in a viable way into the game?
The same way shops work now. Players gather items they want to sell. Place said items on appropriate stall, items can then be purchased by the onboard terminals at each individual shop front. Well that's my guesstimate. Logically though I feel thats the way to go.

They didn't make it "for humans". They made the BMM for themselves and decided to sell some to humans. People not liking the meditation room or the cathedral looking turret room... Should find another ship yeah.
@captainharlock3998 I didn't buy a ship with a cathedral or a shrine, I bought a gritty, potentially black market trading vessel and they retconned it into a day spa. There are also already plenty of examples of alien ships being modified for humans, so I see no reason why this should be an exception when they literally took money out of our pockets for a completely different concept.

You're crying over spilled milk. You bought a ship at 250 (or 350 depending when you bought it) and you got a 650 ship. CCU it to whatever you do like.
I personally love I'm getting a flying cathedral, and I bought it when it was basically a Vanduul ship. Just acvept concepts are bound to change, especially old ones.
@captainharlock3998 You can only CCU it for what you paid for it and, unfortunately, even though the concept now blows, I'm stuck with it. I can't even get a prowler if I liquidate it. Of f**king course CIG makes the decisions. I'm saying it's a bad one. Making the ship bigger doesn't make it any less of a rug pull when people spent hundreds of dollars on a concept and you completely stray from the concept they paid for. Stop defending bad behavior. There is no good defense. It's also only an "old concept" because they have been dragging their feet on it for the better part of a decade.
Very much hope they go back to the drawing board because the interior design was INSANELY disappointing.

I think the the bmm will stay with the space-wastefull-design it now has, because it is just the Banu style of style over substance.
Star Citizen designers are so dumb, you dont really need wings with that advanced technology. The problem is they always over do things and not make it minimalist and simple to the points it becomes corny and nonsense
