I decided to compare the shopping experience of buying a graphics card from Aliexpress to Wish.com, just too see which is worse. The two infamous online retailers
I bought an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti from both websites.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by Aliexpress. The shipping does take super long though.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff IKR! It is actually state subsidize shipping so nothing ships until the shipping container is filled. I have received shipments in as little as 10 days and as long as 9 weeks. Often times you can pay a little more and buy the exact same item from the same person on amazon and get the stuff in a couple of days. It is bettter to buy in bulk, i.e. smaller and more. you will almost always get a break in price and you would only have to restock once or twice a year. Flux, solder balls sleeving supplies etc.
Aliexpress sellers do come through pretty often, AE just doesn't vet their sellers all that well, so they will let scammers run rampant until they get enough bad reviews, wish just doesn't care unless the actual manufacturer complains I think. If you find weird SKUs sometimes they are for other markets. I think Linus tried to do this same exercise and wound up with a legit GPU, but it was a Mish mash of 2 other SKUs but was legit and made only for the Chinese market for computer cafes and arcades.
Why didn't he buy a $50 1050 Ti from Aliexpress? Wouldn't that be a more fair comparison?
There actually isn't any 1050Ti below $100,- US on there, cheapest one is $114.70 US now (it's also a legit gigabyte 1050Ti by the looks of it, albeit a bit scratched. The seller does state it's used though so that's about what you can expect).

@Nato Min Taobao is more like China Amazon. Alibaba is typically for finding Chinese manufacturers and Aliexpress is like Chinese ebay

Conclusion: Asus made a 1050 Ti that looks and feels so cheap, you'd think it's a fake one.
oww... the good old 1050ti. Brings back memories haha. My first custom built pc (by myself obviously) had a G4560, MSI GTX 1050ti Gaming x and the MSI B250-m. I have never been hapier than when I pressed the power botton for the first time seeing that it was posting. I will forever be impressed how that small little beast has sooo much power. Thanks for the great memories (even tho these 2 GPUs look nothing like the MSI GAMING X version lol)
Mine had an RX580. Now I’ve upgraded to a RX6600 because it’s the easiest to get your hands on without having to be extorted
I just upgraded from a 1050ti to a 3060ti a few months ago lol.
Fast forward to 2021 and the 1050ti for that price is looking pretty good.

Yeah, I have friends that buy from there, never getting anything fake. But sometimes boxes are delivered completely wet.
Personally, I've had mixed experiences with both Wish, AliExpress and also BangGood - with each of them, sometimes I got good stuff, sometimes I got scammed up the wazoo.
But yeah, Wish definitely wears the scam-king crown in comparison to the other two... for every dodgy scam on AlExpress or BangGood, there were at least four on Wish.
AliExpress wears the crown when it comes to properly refunding, though there have been some less-than-decent responses from them as well (mostly from my early days of discovering AliExpress; back then they didn't really seem to like dealing with scammed customers, but it's gotten better since).

Aliexpress is a good alternative to buy PC components. Only thing you can't buy is a decent power supply. You just have to choose the sellers with a lot of reviews and sold items. UA-camrs intentionally pick items with 1 star review or 2 sold items.
I bought a RTX-3080 in Aliexpress and it turned out that a completely original and sealed RTX arrived. I was really confused because I was already expecting something really messed up

I've assumed for a while now that everyone (at least a little techy) could tell at a glance which cards on these sites are fake and which ones are legit but I'm starting to doubt that now. I've always found it so easy to do. Maybe there's a knack to it? Is it like sexing a chicken?
Haha!! I can usually tell. This was jyst one GPU version from Asus that I didnt know of. Usually a quick Google can help verify.

I never had any issues buying stuff on aliexpress. I just bought a 1 TB Nvme M.2 drive from aliexpress around 125$ - 130$ the brand name is Asgard. The performance is similar to a Samsung Evo Nvme.

For my first build back in 2014-2015ish I ordered a 1050 Ti from NewEgg. They charged me for the "new" 1050 Ti, sent me a 1050 Ti box... With a AMD 550 in it... I literally didn't notice till a year ago when I pulled that old rig out of the closet to try and turn it into a mico streaming PC for the living room.
Literally no site is safe from scamming people on 1050 Ti's, at this point I believe finding a legitimate 1050 Ti is about as hard as finding a 1080 Ti.

At this video I missed a closer look at the wish graphics card. You showed everything of the asus but barely anything of the wish card.
i can totally understand the scepticism, I always buy from retailers like this with the same mindset, that I'm being scammed and am pleasantly surprised when I get a good deal and arent.
Ali express seems like it's generally good with a small chance to be scammed, whilst wish is a high chance of scamming with the hope that you wont.
You have to make now one for RX 570 4 GB from aliexpress and wish and compare them :p
You can easily identfy these fake cards by looking at their connectors. The fake cards usually got a D-SUB connector. But no version of the 1050 ever came with one.
watching this after the price boom made me confused about the "above average pricing" then i looked at the date
