9:33 “The worst I’ve ever seen a game run” True story: I’ve experience much worse, and I wasn’t playing around. I tried to install Doom and it ran much slower that this, I’m being 100% literal. To be clear: it absolutely did run. You had to wait a good while for each frame. It was shareware from the dollar store, and unlike all other games it came on not one but two floppies.
Given that you engaged in a Craigslist knife-battle to get it, I'd say you got exactly what you paid for. A steaming, flesh-eating pile of hilarity and disappointment. Not even Vileda gloves can protect against that.
A Vostro 200. Man, getting some memories of my XPS 410 (2006) from this one. Had the ol' 8600 GTS in it. Ran pretty well, but never moved past XP. Win10 with a mechanical drive is such a miserable experience.
I've gotten better PCs for cheaper. I got a HP-Pavilion a6712f for a dollar. The VGA jack was busted on it and they thought it was totally fried. It has a Pentium Dual-Core CPU in it running at 2.5 GHz.
For Half-Life 2 on a $19 PC, I recommended you force DXlevel to run from Directx 9.0+ to Directx 8.1 (or can also be down to 6.0) by setting launch options on Steam. Go to Steam first, then right-click on Half-Life 2's title, and go to Properties, and you'll find the launch options section on the General tab. Click on the launch options section, and type "+mat_dxlevel 81", "+mat_dxlevel 70", or "+mat_dxlevel 60" (these DXlevels are options) and then run Half-Life 2. Hope you find this helpful!
I really love how original is your content. Although there are top-notch tech UA-camrs out there, they are all assembling machines that most of the times a small percentage of people can afford, or reviewing graphics cards that cannot be bought. Granted I know there's not much they can do and they try to provide content of what's available. But my point is they are all different flavors of pretty much the same. Your content is awesome when I am in a moment of needing geeky nerdy fun. I have to admit thanks to the top-notch UA-camrs I was able to assemble a computer as recently as this week AND was able to troubleshoot that the motherboard was the problem (ugh it was a pain but I found it), so they do have their place but again my point is your content is really different and pure entertainment value. Now, having said that, I would love to see a video of you taking on those top-notch tech UA-camrs and assembling a top-tier computer that you may actually keep after squeezing every penny of all your sponsors, including Vileda :)
My neighbor sold me an old A9 APU mini PC with the Paleolithic era 1TB WD Green hard drive in it (RIP WD Green Hard Drives) for $20 CAD ($16 USD) It is surprisingly powerful (not for gaming) for what I ended up using it for. In cases like this, where you can't boot from USB, you can use an SSD to mount the image to, and boot into the installer from the SSD and install on what will be the main drive.
Maybe the problem is Win10. I build a 2003 Retro Gaming PC recently and GTA SA, Half-Life 4 runs perfectly on my WinXP - Pentium 4 - GT 520 graphics card system.
6:39 in this case for PCs that cannot natively boot USB, You can find an ISO online that you can burn to a CD, boot that CD and then that'll allow you to choose more modern boot devices. Don't have a link on hand but I use this method to USB boot my Pentium II laptop. Big save, limits you having to burn many CD installers to just burning one bootloader CD that you guard with your life
My neighbour gave me this system for free with a Q6600 installed. An SSD, ATi 1900XT and Win XP Pro installed later. I now have a awesome retro gaming machine that will even play Star trek Dominion Wars!
That graphics card really stepped up. I don't push my optiplex 790 (core i5) with big games. I have a 7470 Radeon 1 GB that makes it so I can use two monitors. I run Linux Mint 20.3 on it.
A Dell Vostro 200! My second favorite potato! I upgraded mine with a 3 ghz dual core processor, 8 gigs of DDR 2 memory and installed Linux. With an appropriate graphics card that puppy will rock for older games. Definitely clean that bad boy out, do some upgrades and make another video.
I may have a tip for booting from such old devices: Just burn the install image to your HDD and install the system to a secondary partition on there. That works when you can't boot from anything else other than your system drive, I had to do that in the past with such old systems and it works pretty well but requires some more work to then expand the partition later on
Did you ever have a Nintendo growing up? You gotta blow on the connectors. Sometimes you gotta push the cart in and out a few times to scrape away the patina on the connectors for a good connection.
You absolutely can install Windows on a PC like that with a flash drive. Either create a bootable Easy 2 Boot drive with the desired ISO (that is how I install XP), or use MicroShafts Win7 flash drive creation tool, it works with everything from Win7 and beyond.
Do you still have the pc featured in the B roll for the opening credits? I’d like to see a video of that pc and how is its gaming performance. It looks like it’s from back when blue and yellow were the oem colours of choice.

Really love how dawid does this kind of content even its a pain
Love the Contents
I'm so very happy to see that you patched things up with velida! I really didn't expect to see you wear them through 90% of the video, but I'm not gonna complain haha
So that was a 64 bit Windows 10 on a machine with 2 GiB of mem? Windows 10 must have hogged most of the systems resources for itself. X)
9:33 “The worst I’ve ever seen a game run”
True story: I’ve experience much worse, and I wasn’t playing around.
Haha!! Yeah, I guess it was a very authentic $19 PC. 😂
A Vostro 200. Man, getting some memories of my XPS 410 (2006) from this one. Had the ol' 8600 GTS in it. Ran pretty well, but never moved past XP. Win10 with a mechanical drive is such a miserable experience.
lol you get what you pay for, really funny vid as usual :)
I've gotten better PCs for cheaper. I got a HP-Pavilion a6712f for a dollar. The VGA jack was busted on it and they thought it was totally fried. It has a Pentium Dual-Core CPU in it running at 2.5 GHz.
Also, time for a cheap air compressor. Imagine the slow mo video of all that 'dust' spewing out of those potato pcs.
At $19 can it even qualify as one? Ya can part it out for more?
Yeah! That’s why I had mixed feelings about it. I just wanted to be informed about the lack of HDD you know.
First video on this channel. Holy shit the sarcasm is string with this one. That's amazing love it
“Children in Africa would be grateful for that! You should be grateful for it as well!”
You can boot from usb on that pc. Many of those dells came with lite on power supplies
Vileda should consider sponsoring Dawid
My neighbor sold me an old A9 APU mini PC with the Paleolithic era 1TB WD Green hard drive in it (RIP WD Green Hard Drives) for $20 CAD ($16 USD) It is surprisingly powerful (not for gaming) for what I ended up using it for. It also came with a monitor, mouse, a set of speakers, AA battery charger, 2 elves and a partridge in a pear tree.
Love that you kept on your validas throughout the rest of your video 😂 my first thought was windows 10 is a bit presumptuous for that build haha. Probably took up most of your resources available.
You're the most entertaining techtuber out there ... triple 👍👍👍 to you my dude
I like games of the windows xp era , I just did a build and still put empire earth 2 on it so now I’m cranking that thing up to extreme and playing it with a 5800x and rtx 3080
LOL bro. One of the reasons why your channel is so great because it sounds like you are changing your voice to sound the way you sound. But you are not and thats hella funny!!! :) Great job as usual. I've been doing I.T even before Windows 1.0 and you work on PCs I look at as like yo; please toss that in the dumpster so lots of props to you!!
p.s It said it boots into WIndows 10. It didnt say it came with an HD with Windows 10 LOL! epic video as usual! I wanna see a Dawid vs Linus vs Jay vs GN vs Pauls Hardware!
Dawid, there are many Tech Tubers I enjoy on UA-cam for many different reasons, but you definitely have me rolling on the floor laughing more than any of the other ones. Thanks for the laughs.
4:20 That's like a subsidiary of Seasonic or FSP because apparently all power supplies are.
In cases like this, where you can't boot from USB, you can use an SSD to mount the image to, and boot into the installer from the SSD and install on what will be the main drive.
As someone in the Vancouver area who frequently stalks Craigslist, its always funny to see listings I've scrolled past show up in this channel.
I actually turned one of those into a budget gaming pc, all the ram needs to match and i used a gt 730.
Maybe the problem is Win10. I build a 2003 Retro Gaming PC recently and GTA SA, Half-Life 4 runs perfectly on my WinXP - Pentium 4 - GT 520 graphics card system.
@ 10:00 you had me cracking up lol.... ps. we learnt you can't re-instal ram too well after choking to death on flesh eating bacteria
6:39 in this case for PCs that cannot natively boot USB, You can find an ISO online that you can burn to a CD, boot that CD and then that'll allow you to choose more modern boot devices. Don't have a link on hand but I use this method to USB boot my Pentium II laptop. Big save, limits you having to burn many CD installers to just burning one bootloader CD that you guard with your life
When looking for drivers for old video adapters, look for Windows Vista drivers, believe it or not they will work in Windows 7 to 11
My neighbour gave me this system for free with a Q6600 installed. An SSD, ATi 1900XT and Win XP Pro installed later. I now have a awesome retro gaming machine that will even play Star trek Dominion Wars!
Acceptable price imo, especially if you just need a case for a sleeper-build or something just for e-mail and office in the garage or workshop
6:38 For such cases you can use the "Plop Boot Manager".
I may have a tip for booting from such old devices:
Just burn the install image to your HDD and install the system to a secondary partition on there. That works when you can't boot from anything else other than your system drive, I had to do that in the past with such old systems and it works pretty well but requires some more work to then expand the partition later on
You CAN boot to USB, you have to select Removable.
You are without a doubt one of the funniest tech guys on the internet and you really know your stuff. I totally enjoy your videos.
Love these type of videos. Keep them coming
Usually the same RAM sticks need to be in slots 1 & 3, as well as slots 2 & 4. With the RAM pulled out, it's no surprise that it wouldn't boot.
8:30 had me covering my screen in milk, so thank you and hello viledia cleaning
Did you ever have a Nintendo growing up? You gotta blow on the connectors. Sometimes you gotta push the cart in and out a few times to scrape away the patina on the connectors for a good connection.
At around 5:20 he started using the same music used across journey across Japan, which made me smilen
I always wanted one of these dell cases for a new computer build. The black one, and silver one looked awesome.
