My brother moved in and was a very dirty person so he brought in roaches. The method I learned from an exterminator back when I was a hospital dishwasher was: 1.) clear and clean the areas affected (for me it was the kitchen) 2.) fill an air duster with boric acid and spray the area of activity with a light subtle spray with more emphasis on the edges and crevices. 3.) after that repeat process after 14 days. 4.) after that repeat after 6 months. They should be gone. Reason: boric acid gets picked up by their feet which tracks onto their food killing the first wave. The second wave is after those roaches die their brethren will consume their remains which still contains the effective boric acid. On the 14 day mark it’s for roaches who were laid/hatched in between those periods. And the 6 month mark is more of being cautious. Haven’t seen a roach in over 4 years since I did it. Results may vary. Good luck!

Had roaches in my apartment fairly bad during 2022 and used a white odorless powder called orthoboric acid. It looks just like flour or baking soda. Purchased it a home improvement store. I live alone with no pets, so I spread it along the edge of the walls and inside closets and sink areas. Works great. I've seen only 1 live one and 1 dead one since July of '22. It's June of '23 as I write this. I recommend to use this in limited areas if pets or children are present.
Is that the same as boric acid? That can be purchased online and in hardware stores I think. 20 Mule Team Borax, like the laundry detergent, also works I hear. Boric acid is also effective against fleas.
In the 70’s we had roaches in the kitchen and my grandparents bought this white powder and put around the wall and ensues and after that we no longer had roaches. I don’t know what the product was, but I’m hoping it’s the same thing you used and Boric acid.

@@willswingwilly1950You better start implementing pest control ASAP! Back when I was fixing computers, I brought a laptop home that had roaches 🤢 I remember staying up one night and cleaning every single crevice, electronic, etc but I could never get rid of them for good. We ended up moving, so I didn't have to deal with them. I HATE roaches
My advice: diatomaceous earth, please try it, it is a powder that has similar properties to the little bags of silica packets that come in packages to keep moisture away. When the roaches walk around, the powder will stick to them and in kill them within a few days, the reason is that this powder absorbs the moisture and water out anything with an exoskeleton, and since it’s not a poison they can’t get immunity to it. Best part is that when the roaches walk back to their nest, they tend to walk over one another and stick the powder to each other. After a days, make sure you clean any nests dead nests or corpses you might see, please it works wonders and we no longer need an exterminator that may cost thousands. Also make sure to re-apply every now and then
@@Hvacefficianato little piles but just spread it around the places that roaches are more likely to be, like behind the fridge, the kitchen, behind the outlets, certain corners, the important thing is that they walk over it as often as possible. Thanks so much for this. Selling a house after renters moved out and about 3-4 days ago I noticed a TON of roaches in the kitchen at night. The first night I put out roach gel strips, they ate a bunch because there was no food in the house. The next night they were out and sluggish so I dusted them with borax and swept them up. Put a mixture of light sugar and borax dusting around the house. Two days later I swept everything up and put out more gel. Got a shop vac and just sucked them up with the borax mixture and put the vacuum outside. Gonna put the reproduction inhibitor you recommended up next. All in all cleaned up 120 or so far, yucky

I HAD german coachroaches. We started with bait stations then boric acid which still remains under all appliances and by tv. Roches like to come out especially on hot nights to look for food n water. They have an amazingly uncanny ability to find even very small amounts of water but the kitchen sink is their fave bcz they come up around cracks around the pipes. Spraying in n around the sink with vinegar or even mouthwash will keep them away. They'll still come looking but there'll be less of 'em. Best thing is to seal up around the pipes airtght so even the tiniest can't come thru
I just leave a big sauce pan filled with water and chicken bou on the stove. they love this, then you can get sick from all the roaches dead in your pan. I do use stainless steel, easier to clean.
This stuff really works! The video is very well done and easy to understand and if you follow their instructions it works wonderfully. Thank you guys for the educational step-by-step video to help me rid my house of roaches! Thank you J
This is the best information I have ever heard. I just had my yearly termite "inspection" which was basically worthless. I asked about pest control, and what they do is spray a perimeter spray around the house three feet up once every quarter. I said, "What about the pests in the house?" I had always heard (past resident of Florida) that they nest in walls. I don't see how a perimeter spray does anything except keep new ones from coming in, especially since I live in a brick house. This was very helpful.
Thank you. One flew towards me while I was blending a protien shake. I grunted like I never have before and jumped like a mf. I'm not scared of them per say but they disgust me so damn much.
Pest tech of 5 years here. This gentlemen is spot on. I personally use Advion gel bait for roaches and ants. One thing most people expect from me is for me to eliminate the roach infestations that same day. Well, I hate to break it to ya folks who think this, but that's as about as close as to impossible as can be. Approximately 2 weeks, the gel bait works (as he said, KEEP YOUR HOUSE CLEAN OF FOODS during this process), then follow-up with spray or dusting. Some believe vacuuming live roaches is the way but if there's babies, thats what the gel and IGR are for 😎
I just want to say thank you for this step by step. My 2 year old is allergic (German) and has outbreaks all the time. My apartment complex won’t help or let my leave my lease early without paying. Hell im a single mom of 3. I don’t have money like that. I hope this really helps. Because I am tried of this bullshit!
German roaches can cause all types of issues with young children. To have a child that is allergic can be even worse. I hope this guide helps you control and eliminate them in your apartment. Unfortunately, with people moving in and out, you'll always have to be on the lookout for them.
Just call the Department of Health. They'll force them to hire an exterminator. In most states you can also hire one yourself and deduct the amount from the next months rent. It's illegal for them not to address the issue as it's a health hazard. The state can actually fine them and/;or revoke their license to rent.
I live among 119 apartments and in a seedy area, I'm ready to move, there is always going to be something here, and its always your fault. I so tired of that logic.
I'm so blessed. The last apartment I lived in for 5 years. No roaches, but I did have a lizared stop in once. My house, I've been here 1.5 years. No roaches. One rat we killed. Scorpions are out there. Never saw any. Coyotes are out there. I can't deal with roaches. They make my skin crawl.

If you have the type that can fly, you make the traps out of plastic soda bottles. Cut the top section off and place it upside-down on the bottom part. No lid, and trim the edges to make sure there are no gaps. I've never had roaches, but I believe they won't be able to fly out of the small opening. Add food, of course. Adding rocks will help it to not tip over easily. This trap also works for wasps, but the bait is different.
Are you familiar with the planes that they spray on us everyday from the sky around the world, which us another form of birth control on women. It's in our foods, water and soil, just never thought they had it for cochroaches too lol
Now, we need a 5th step, how to convince your lazy parents to actually do something about them. The roaches in my house have gotten reaaally bad, and they're bringing their friends too. (Sugar ants, gnats, etc.) But my parents just... do not care. It's disgusting. Cant wait to move out 🤙😭
If you're a minor, forcing you to live in those unsanitary conditions is considered child abuse/neglect. You might want to mention that to them, and if they still don't do anything about it, depending on how bad this whole situation makes you feel, you could report them to Child Protective Services in your state (anonymously, if you prefer). I know I couldn't live like that. Roaches terrify and disgust me. Just seeing one brought me to this video today.
@@mgarcia2445 thank you, but the thing is, we cant really do much about them considering it's my cousins who bring them over each time they visit. They live in a roach infested home and when they stayed for a bit, they brought their roaches with them(now my cousins cant do anything about it because they're pretty poor.) If we happen to get rid of them, they would just bring them back which is why I guess my grandma is unmotivated to get rid of them. And I guess my comment was a bit of an exaggeration, it's not like my house is *infested* theres just.. alot of roaches that come out at night. I dont think it's too unsanitary though. But recently my grandma has been attempting to get rid of them so that's a plus. I really thank you for your worry, it was nice to see that a stranger on the internet cared. Thank you
Yes we care and obviously all have the same problem. If you see a lot of roaches at night then u do have a problem. They reproduce at a rate that is unbelievable. I have never lived in a roach home didn't have a problem until neighbors moved then they migrated from all directions. Literally want to throw up. One trick I have been using, I got a new garbage disposal a I leave some cat food in there and after a hr I run in the kitchen grab the sink sprayer spray the ones I catch down and turn the disposal on. That helps to an extent. FYI each egg hatches 50 baby roaches. That is why when you see them initially you have to take action then seeing one in the day time means you have at least a million roaches or something like that. It's crazy. And they nest up together so to get rid of them you have to find the nest and there could be more than one
Dusting wall voids with boractin and baiting with alpine bait and using onslaught with nyguard in the cracks and crevices works and if you use talstar on the outside works really well
I learned when moving in an apartment to get a top floor over a basement dwelling...that's where they thrive. Also, keep your kitchen squeaky clean, and don't leave anything in cupboard open...even a Honey Nut cheerio box closed with a chip clip....they'll smell that and find their way inside....put everything in sealed airbtight containers.
The craziest thing I’ve found that works extremely well is mixing one part Dawn dishwashing liquid to two parts water and mixing it into a spray bottle. Set the nozzle to stream and shoot them on site. It kills them on contact after a few minutes. They are fast but my trigger finger is faster and can’t out run the stream. If you set the bottle to mist it kills pesky flies, mosquitos, and spiders on contact as well.
For a contact kill, a spray bottle of pure bleach works great too. Set nozzle halfway between "mist" and "stream". Takes a minute to actually kill them, but that's a minute you get to watch them writhe around in agonizing pain.
Why do you need to buy and use spray etc? I used boric acid mixed with sugar/used bacon oil/peanut butter mix. use small bottlecaps and placed it in hidden areas where they thrive. In one week's time - they were completely eradicated. Not that messy because you can refill the caps or just dispose these and make another one. It is so cheap and very effective.
If you ever get the type that can fly, make the traps out of plastic soda bottles. Cut the top section off and place it upside-down on the bottom part (so it looks like a funnel). No lid, and trim the edges to make sure there are no gaps. I've never had roaches, but I believe they won't be able to fly out of the small opening. Add food, of course. Adding rocks will help it to not tip over easily. This trap also works for wasps, but the bait is different.
I've had a exminator come via a company my apartment buidling landlord hired to vacuum out the roaches in my kitchen. Given it was one or 2 I've seen but even after that I saw another coming out of my kitchen. I nearly died because I was going in there to get water late at night. Do you suggest I hire my own professional too maybe?
Will this work in apartments..never had a problem with them before..the first 2 years living in my apartment had none then our neighbor moved out and now we have them yuck
I live in Central Florida and I recently have had an infestation in the kitchen. Very few little to none in the bathroom none in the bedrooms that I could see I am a new homeowner I purchased an older home and it is very difficult to find tiny cracks. Thank you so much for this video I will definitely do what you suggest. Hopefully it will take care of the issue on a regular basis
Dryer sheets in the bed, essential oils-lavender around your room as much as possible, keep room very clean and if you can a cool temperature. Do not put the roach bait gel in your room. I have been successful at them avoiding my room. I don't think I could handle it if they didn't.
I had lots of cocroaches and confused, my mother adviced me to keep on spraying with different cocroach sprays often i.e doom, Diroach etc. In my kitchen I can no longer see them
Do the roaches still emerge if you put that bait down? One of my cats has high prey drive and he is always on the lookout for various bugs that get into the house. Do the roaches always go right back to the nest after eating the bait? I don't want my cat to be poisoned by this stuff. I don't get many, but I'd rather have none.
So...you're putting down the bait wearing rubber gloves so I'm assuming it should not be touched and especially not ingested by humans. If my utensils and dishes get bait on them, does that mean 1) I could be made sick by germs left by the roaches who might have stopped there to eat, and 2) that toxic bait could make me sick as well? What's the likelihood of being able to clean it off the surfaces of my cabinets at some point? If it's in the cracks and corners like that, is it even going to be possible to get it out? And lastly, I have never had roaches in my house and have seen two in my dish and glassware cabinets, respectively, within the last 4 weeks. I have no roach feces in my pantry or under the sinks. Will using the bait actually just draw them up into the cabinets which is where I don't want them? Should I just apply this stuff under sinks and appliances for now? I cleaned out all stored newspaper, gift bags, paper bags, and cardboard boxes and recycling completely and found no evidence of roaches (but a lot of creepy spiders). The house doesn't appear infested. How can I use the bait judiciously so as not to actually attract them into my home from under the house or in the walls where I assume they have started living?
We always suggest to put the bait in areas that won't contaminate utensils and other things of the sort. Wearing the gloves not only protects you, but it also doesn't transfer your scent onto the bait. Roaches can make you sick with or without the bait. Their fecal mater can become airborne and cause respiratory issues, especially in children and elderly people. If you're putting it in cracks and crevices, I've used a toothpick in the past to remove the unconsumed bait out, paperclips and other things similar can help. I also store my glassware upside down, so that nothing (roaches, spiders, beetles) do not enter them. Typically you'll want to apply the bait in areas that they've been seen in. If they're around the sink, bait around the sink. If they're not by the pantry, you can keep the baits away from that area. You just want to give them enough to eat and take back to the "nest". Hope this clears up any questions you have!
@@jasonbaker6901 Thanks so much. I appreciate the answer. I do have this thing about putting my glassware upside down because that means I'm potentially putting the edges right on bug droppings (that I haven't seen yet and cleaned out) and then drinking from that edge. I'd rather rinse my glassware out and then use it. Luckily, I have rarely lived with roaches, did not find feces anywhere this time so these two were probably not a symptom of a huge problem and I have seen none since. But I did use the bait around the cabinets where they were just in case. And I puffed diatomaceaous earth in the cracks under the kitchen sink and under the house around the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room just to be sure. Thanks again.
@@sweaterdoll Glad you're being proactive. Be careful with Diatomaceous earth, that is pulverized seashells and can be harmful to breathe. Just make sure you're wearing a dust or particulate mask. Diatomaceous earth is a good product tho, it actually uses the sharp edges of seashell to cut their limbs off and then they starve to death.

Oh and in my opinion the first thing to do is to moisture problem, usually it's someone that has a leak either in their roof or plumbing. You fix that you'll certainly evict them a lot faster.

@@km-lw2uc Acrylic caulk that is for kitchens and bathrooms. I'm not good with a caulk gun so I bought the kind in a tube that you squeeze. (Like a tube of toothpaste only much bigger.) I caulked all the baseboards and cracks in every room, not just the kitchen and bathroom. Scrubbed the stove, stove vent, cabinets, handles AND hinges from any grease or food. I mean every nook and cranny! We have square glued down tiles in kitchen and bathroom so I bought Quick Shine. It not only livened and shined the floors, it sealed the tiniest gap between tiles. Roaches can find and eat the most miniscule crumbs we can't see. So, two coats I applied. Got some foam in a can and used it around pipes that come in from outside. Then, I got boric acid and dusted under the stove, beneath the bottom kitchen drawers, in back of bottom kitchen and bathroom cabinets, behind and under the fridge. Only thing left to do is take cover plates off light switches and outlets, and dust inside of them. This has been a job! It took a lot of time, effort and elbow grease but is working! You have to, in my opinion, do every room. When I applied boric acid, they came scattering out. I didn't want a single gap or crack for them to escape into. (Also, closets.) Things are worse in the respect I'm seeing more, but it is them trying to escape. Also, vacuum everyday, take trash out daily and dry sinks after using. They can't live without food and water. And can't live after being exposed to boric acid. I know this is long, but hopefully helps. Needless to say, I'm wore out but in a positive and sense of accomplishment type way.
J. Adkins Very smart of you and you didn’t fill your home with a bunch of poisons. I also went into the Crawspace and sealed all openings around water, drains and electric lines. They were using those openings as highways. I also applied about 5 pounds of powered boric acid and 20 pounds of diatomaceous earth on the perimeter of my Crawlspace. I also sealed under the outdoor siding. No poisons that are harmful to pets or humans. I also leave spiders alone outside and in the Crawlspace. They’re part of my pest control.
The picture of the smoky brown you have @1:43 is very misleading. They look like that at the nymph stage, not adult. The adults are very dark, almost pure black, and have wings which they use to fly at you and scare you to death.

one thing I have a problem with in cockroach control and elimination, is not these videos they are wonderful and most very effective. but some will suggest or reccomemd a certain product for the elimination of disgusting cockroaches. and then you go to the website if you are buying off line and the first thing you get slapped in the face with is, cannot ship to N.Y. my quest. is why? a lot of these insecticides is no more toxic than the brands you can but at many local hardware retailers or other stores like home depot but from my experience trying to buy an insecticide to kill cockroaches at local retailers is the diversity of products is quite low. next is the amt they keep in stock. is very low compared to their online counterparts what upsets me is we all know how disgusting, germ ridden and pesky these insects can be. and new York has one of the biggest cockroach infestation. in the U.S. and these products to me and what I've read about them is no more toxic than some of the cleansers we use so what is the big deal in shipping these items to certain states
The reason is state regulations are different for New York, and for the most part Pest Control Operators are the only option for treating a residence. This is not the same for the rest of the country.
I've never had roaches. Since I got a roommate I'm seeing them laying dead in the house. I do spray the house with poison twice a year. But this is terrible.

My brother moved in and was a very dirty person so he brought in roaches. The method I learned from an exterminator back when I was a hospital dishwasher was:
1.) clear and clean the areas affected (for me it was the kitchen)
2.) fill an air duster with boric acid and spray the area of activity with a light subtle spray with more emphasis on the edges and crevices.
Good luck!

We ended up moving, so I didn't have to deal with them. I HATE roaches
loll
Also make sure to re-apply every now and then
Do you just leave little piles around in spread out or one big pile?
@@Hvacefficianato little piles but just spread it around the places that roaches are more likely to be, like behind the fridge, the kitchen, behind the outlets, certain corners, the important thing is that they walk over it as often as possible. When you apply it, have a mask and some gloves, even when you place it on the floor some of the powder might fly up in the air for a couple of minutes but it’ll settle down, breathing in a little won’t hurt but still avoid it, and the gloves are just to save you some mess

I pour boiling vinegar down my sinks about once or twice a week. You are right they don't like it!
Roches like to come out especially on hot nights to look for food n water. They have an amazingly uncanny ability to find even very small amounts of water but the kitchen sink is their fave bcz they come up around cracks around the pipes. This is the best information I have ever heard. I just had my yearly termite "inspection" which was basically worthless. I asked about pest control, and what they do is spray a perimeter spray around the house three feet up once every quarter. I said, "What about the pests in the house?" Well, I hate to break it to ya folks who think this, but that's as about as close as to impossible as can be.

Now, we need a 5th step, how to convince your lazy parents to actually do something about them. The roaches in my house have gotten reaaally bad, and they're bringing their friends too. (Sugar ants, gnats, etc.) But my parents just... do not care. It's disgusting. Cant wait to move out 🤙😭
Or, move out into your own pristine place!
@@mgarcia2445 thank you, but the thing is, we cant really do much about them considering it's my cousins who bring them over each time they visit. so you got the football team problem as well i see smh mfers rushed me when i opened my glass door.
Dusting wall voids with boractin and baiting with alpine bait and using onslaught with nyguard in the cracks and crevices works and if you use talstar on the outside works really well
I've been hearing Talstar is really good...
If you set the bottle to mist it kills pesky flies, mosquitos, and spiders on contact as well.
any soap water kills them with direct contact, & always leave soap water in toilet so they can't drink that
Useless because there are a million more in your walls and cabinets.
@@MAGAMAN I’m only talking about getting rid of the ones you can see
For a contact kill, a spray bottle of pure bleach works great too. Set nozzle halfway between "mist" and "stream". Takes a minute to actually kill them, but that's a minute you get to watch them writhe around in agonizing pain.
👍
‘That needs to be addressed’.
That’s my new catch phase 😎💯

This only works for small infestations.
I really like the lavender scented roach spray 😊 ( Raid).
NOPE
I had lots of cocroaches and confused, my mother adviced me to keep on spraying with different cocroach sprays often i.e doom, Diroach etc. In my kitchen I can no longer see them
Do the roaches still emerge if you put that bait down? One of my cats has high prey drive and he is always on the lookout for various bugs that get into the house. Do the roaches always go right back to the nest after eating the bait? I don't want my cat to be poisoned by this stuff. I don't get many, but I'd rather have none.
Advion Gel alone is enough to get of cockroaches, my problem is solved for 3 months, so every 3 months i use a little bit of Advion Gel.
Acrylic caulk that is for kitchens and bathrooms. I'm not good with a caulk gun so I bought the kind in a tube that you squeeze. (Like a tube of toothpaste only much bigger.)
I caulked all the baseboards and cracks in every room, not just the kitchen and bathroom.
(Also, closets.)
Things are worse in the respect I'm seeing more, but it is them trying to escape.
Also, vacuum everyday, take trash out daily and dry sinks after using.
They can't live without food and water. And can't live after being exposed to boric acid.
I know this is long, but hopefully helps.
Needless to say, I'm wore out but in a positive and sense of accomplishment type way.

Very smart of you and you didn’t fill your home with a bunch of poisons. I also went into the Crawspace and sealed all openings around water, drains and electric lines. I also sealed under the outdoor siding. No poisons that are harmful to pets or humans. I also leave spiders alone outside and in the Crawlspace. They’re part of my pest control.

We inherited a home that has always had roaches we were told that many products were tried and there's an immunity to many products. Also are there any natural products good for roaches.
Boric acid.
Where can you buy these products? I just did a search for "hernando FL exterminator supply", and nothing of much use came up.
I have algae growing on the ground just outside my house. Will that attract more roaches?
Hey man, I have a brick wall my mum won’t fix it. I’ve tried to get her to do something she won’t do anything. What can I do to prevent these cockroaches from coming out of a wall? I’ve literally got a video of five of them flying tonight. absolutely hate cockroaches. I’m despised and terrified of them but I just wanted to let you know is there any other things I can do since I have a stubborn Mum who won’t fix the house and my brick wall has copper coming through it all the time what can I do?
Plug up all openings and spray cedar oil.
Great video! Will put some of your recommendations to work.
This was done so well I watched it twice! I live in NYC (enough said) 😂 Thank you so much for putting this up. 😘

What do you recommend about the cracks and crevices in a parked RV?
Reclaim IT is recommended for indoor and outdoor use. You can use it as a cracks and crevice treatment.
use caulking?
Throw the whole RV out

Fantastic explanation, great educational video.
How the hell can I stare at a roach long enough to figure out what kind it is 🤮
Exactly what I said when he brought that up!! who cares what kind it is it needs to be dead immediately before it gets away lol
i took a picture then ran away haha
Moved to new place ...found one roach in bathroom idk where it came from...I'm scared I hate bugs
one thing I have a problem with in cockroach control and elimination, is not these videos they are wonderful and most very effective. but some will suggest or reccomemd a certain product for the elimination of disgusting cockroaches. and then you go to the website if you are buying off line and the first thing you get slapped in the face with is, cannot ship to N.Y. my quest. is why? a lot of these insecticides is no more toxic than the brands you can but at many local hardware retailers or other stores like home depot but from my experience trying to buy an insecticide to kill cockroaches at local retailers is the diversity of products is quite low. next is the amt they keep in stock. is very low compared to their online counterparts what upsets me is we all know how disgusting, germ ridden and pesky these insects can be. and new York has one of the biggest cockroach infestation. in the U.S. and these products to me and what I've read about them is no more toxic than some of the cleansers we use so what is the big deal in shipping these items to certain states
The reason is state regulations are different for New York, and for the most part Pest Control Operators are the only option for treating a residence. This is not the same for the rest of the country.
Drive into New Jersey and just bring it across.
I've never had roaches. Since I got a roommate I'm seeing them laying dead in the house. I do spray the house with poison twice a year. But this is terrible.
I have Cockroaches in my room, like literally everywhere. I saw them near my closet, book shelf. I got rid of them but i don't know how they came back. It's just been 3 months that I've cleaned my room with some Cockroach spray. I don't know how they came again
You probably didn't get all of them. It takes only one to create hundreds
You need to kill these because they will take over the house. Vacuum. Do not eat in. Your room ever, nothing. Vacuum some more. Pour baking soda or this powder made from grounded sea shells. Sleep with your lights on!! Lol
Boric acid
Thanks but where can I get all these stuff from
Do a video on how to keep them out of flower beds also?!
Thank you for you recommendation. We will take it into consideration when making our next video.
Really love the video really helps out took me 2 months to get rid of cockroaches off my property before I had to spray every day every two weeks for 2 months to get rid of them they've come back because somebody brought a bag of groceries in and they run out so now I got to try to get rid of them again
WhAt should be done about kitchen appliances.
Light them on fire
The gel is very good, how can we purchase it
I raised the rent and the cockroaches agreed to leave, problem solved 👌
Did you notify them via certified mail or just yell really loud?
Where do I get any of the Products shown in Canada sk
