I used to be a licensed exterminator. The only thing I know about cockroaches is that I am being haunted by the ghost of the mother roach. I waged war for two years on the German roaches of my town. After saturating an empty house with chemicals, crack and crevasse, spray, fog, bait, and even hormone traps, I was attacked by the largest German roach I have ever seen. It was the mother roach. She was vowing to seek her revenge on me in the afterlife. I have been haunted ever since.
Late one summer night in'70 We were playing wallball under the school light here in philly when a flying roach 3" long landed right on my sweaty shoulder and bit me! 😫AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! I still fear roaches🪳💥🔨

no out of your home, as like most animals how they harm you isn't inetional, I'd love for them to be sentient enough to build a symbotic relationship with the house they're in but thats not the case. it's merely like us trying to survive in a harsh enviorment so we do the same, they don't deserve to die it's just we just don't any other options.

This video has been out for some time, but it is only now really starting to catch on. I now have some pest controllers that are starting to offer it and I was told that one of the national companies is looking into it as well. I believe that it will eventually become the industry standard for treating German roaches, but it will probably take a few years. You are correct that this is the only video that can show you how to do it because I am the one who developed the treatment method. I HATE roaches. I have a huge phobia and anxiety stemming from when I was a child. When I got my apartment, my adjoining neighbor had an infestation which caused my unit to be infested. My landlord ended up hiring a pest control company to treat both units at the same time. I spent the night with my sister.
My exposure to roaches as a child led to an extreme fear of them. You never get used to living with them. After my parents got divorced, when I was 6, my mom, me, and my brother moved into a roach infested apartment. Roaches were everywhere. On the kitchen utensils, on my clothes in the morning, everywhere. It really screwed me up in the head. Well, eventually, my mom got remarried, and we moved into a new apartment. Problem is, I think we took the roaches with us. Why? Because we took our refrigerator, microwave, and all our stuff with us from the roach-infested apartment to the new apartment. For a while, I was so happy to be in a new apartment with no roaches, but after a year or so....roaches. Even the neighbors blamed us, and I think they were right. One night, while I was sleeping, my brother woke me up and told me not to move. Then, he took a shoe and crushed a roach on my pillow, right next to my face. After that, I've usually slept with the lights on, no matter where I've lived, and that aforementioned roach incident happened 35+ year ago, back in the mid 1980s.
Many decades ago, we lived in a apartment complex. We could always tell when the exterminator had sprayed the apartment next to us because all the German roaches came into our apartment. And I am sure that our neighbors could tell when our place was sprayed.
That is very true. If you fog one apartment, the roaches move deeper into the walls and they will head toward an adjoining apartment. Fogging will kill a lot of roaches, but not all of them, and they will be back. Thanks for sharing. Be well my friend.
Neighbors 3 house down got exterminator for rat problem! My place filled up! Fortunately my German Shepherd loves to hunt them out! His sire was a k9 cadaver dog!❤ But sometimes it has my son & him up many nights hunting!
@Lil_Lev It is very possible that you eliminated them. Just keep an eye on it though because it just takes one egg sack to survive and you are off to the races again. It may take some time to see them again. If you go a year without seeing any, then you are probably okay. Check it out at night. Open the door and look with a flashlight. Actually I had to exterminate cockroaches in a certain set of apartment buildings. For however squeaky clean the apartments were, the apartments would get filled with cockroaches again with a year a two. The main problem was the the sewer drainage system inside the building and the main drainage pipe coming off the building. The plumbers/builders of the building did not hermetically seal the sewage pipe, and with age they even leaked slightly more. From what I could ascertain, the cockroaches first congregated and started building large nests in the basement where all the main sewer pipes of the building reached and interconnected. All these pipes interconnected with a type of catch basin box made of brick and cement mortar. None of this was built well, and had cracks and crevices, were cockroches could enter and leave the sewer system. Also to make matters worse, the main vertical pipes going up from the basement to the aparments was full of gaps behind the walls were the cockroaches could live, nest, and also enter and leave the sewer system through the cracks in the pipes. From these gaps behind the walls they would eventually find a way to enter all the aparments. The only way to be rid of the roaches was to redo a large portion of the botched plumbing work and botched masonary work and seal up as much as possible(to cut off food supply and ease of entering and leaving the sewer system), the most accessible was in the basement, so that was all sealed, redone, and after exterminating, they haven't been back. TL;DR a lot of the cockroach problems are indirectly due to botched and shotty contruction and plumbing.
I can attest to the durability of German cockroaches. My parents had an infestation for years and it seemed hopeless. No pest controller could rid the house of the roaches. One year a big freeze came through texas and knocked the power out for over two weeks. The temps were fridgid. The roaches could not survive because there was no where they could go.

I live in a neighborhood that 40 years ago was totally infested with the big roaches. When I moved back the housing shortages were real, and I could only find a place here. To my surprise there were rarely any seen, and none in my building. The exterminators have done a great job. I haven't seen a roach for over two years. Wahoo. Happy dance. Thank you, you bug killers. You've done well.
Even if you kill a million cockroaches that live inside your wall, you still have a million dead cockroaches inside your walls. I'd burn down my house and get a new one.
I have to agree about roaches nesting in the wall. I had no problem with roaches for years. I had a water leak that caused water damage to the drywall. We replaced and repaired the wall and weeks later I started seeing roaches.
Our biology teacher told us a story about his colleague, who kept cockroaches in his lab terrarium. Those smart little things built a pyramid out of their bodies to allow some of them escape.

I've seen several random roaches in my complex, and I caught them! The first one took me about an hour to catch and it lasted in a mason jar for over two weeks with no water, no food. The last one I accidently cut it in half trying to catch it. I put it in a bag and it was still alive! That was on the 3rd of September. It is the 10th and it is still alive! The head is at least! I love your channel! Borax!
Those alien critters can even live without their heads for up to as long as a month. Unfreakin-believable, right? I hate them to death. I caught one in a little storage bag and it lived for about three or four weeks with no food, no water, no air. It was an airtight bag. What the hell!

You forgot to mention that they quickly develop immunities to the poisons used to get rid of them. After using the same poison repeatedly you eventually end up with roaches that are not effected by that poison. You have to change the poison types to get rid of all of them.
You have to murder them directly with dishsoap water. Coat them and they suffocate, no immunity. Gotta catch em all, and no neurotoxins to expose pets n fam to

I started seeing the occasional roach in my house and called an exterminator. The first person the company assigned to the task didn't seem to help much at all. And yes, he laid out a lot of traps which did in fact kill the occasional roach. I complained and they apologized and sent their "best man". Well, he noted that they were German cockroaches and that we had a battle on our hands. Many hours and visits later, after sweeping and vacuuming oodles of dead cockroaches everywhere, I stopped seeing them alive. That was years ago and the same gentleman still visits me on a regular basis. He earned my trust and patronage. And I can't remember the last time I have seen a cockroach in my house. In fact, I rarely if ever see ANY insects in my house.
Nice calm teacher. Thanks. When we first moved to the countryside we were challenged by millions of bugs outside and inside the house and garage and car! We complained to the neighbors and the grocery clerk and the gas attendant and they all just yawned and "Yep". No one seemed disgusted by the bugs but us!! We almost moved! But we didn't and we learned to keep them away and learned to live with them. Just yesterday I had to walk out late at night and call the cat. Normally I would be scared of large bugs creeping on the ground and large moths flying around or frogs stuck on the windows, but not anymore. Now I love the sounds of frogs and cicadas singing in the trees and colored butterflies flitting past my head and fireflys. . I am really starting to adore nature. Caterpillars., inchworms, beetles, gnats, flys, stinkbugs, hornworms, wasps, carpenter bees, are part of my world now and I am part of theirs. We are enjoying life on this green earth together. We have made peace.😁

Interesting. Our upstairs neighbor has a bird feeder, and pits of the seeds fall on our balcony all the time. Birds love them, and a squirrel, but I wonder if we had our first American roach because of it. Do you remember what type of roaches you starteds seeing?
I've always had a messy house, but only once did I get an infestion. I moved out. I have a cockroach phobia. I'm not scared of any other arthropod, no, not even bees, wasps, or venomous spiders. In fact bees and wasps do not sting me, and neither have widow, recluse, or tarantula spiders. I know what they are capable of after all. German cockroaches are the worst, then Asian. Being phobic, logic does not play a part. But Madagascar cockroaches don't scare me at all, and I guess that most other species would not worry me if I saw them.
I cleaned the Keurig coffemaker at my son’s apartment where there was a small infestation (he left a bag of sugar open and there was a brown trail into it). When I pulled out the catch tray underneath, the entire thing was stuffed to the top with what looked like hair. A closer look showed that it was thousands of roach legs! Congrats to the lucky person who nabbed the machine out of the dumpster…
Yes. They love beer and alcoholic drinks. My family threw a party one time and when it was over there was beer bottles and liquor paraphernalia all over the place. When I got up the next morning I saw the half empty bottles were filled with live and drowned roaches. We got rid of over half the infestation in that one night.😊
I never feared roaches until living by a lake in central Mexico. These roaches are very large and often quite fearless (shudder)They walk into where you are sitting as night falls… creepy
I myself was attacked by a cockroach the size of my index finger. I was walking upstairs to my room, when I suddenly noticed the biggest roach I have ever seen posing on the ceiling which was right above the last step of the stairs. I noticed it was facing its head in my direction, I sensed it was looking at me. I got creeped out by the fact that this was a gotdamn cretaceous sized cockroach, the biggest Ive seen in my town. I runned to the kitchen to grab my roach killer spray, when I came back to the first step of the stairs, it was still there, looking at me. I swear I felt evil intentions from this roach. I slowly started climbing up the stairs, and when I was mid way to the stairs, the cockraoch launches at me, spreading its freaking wings ( which no flying roaches existed in my town, so even more creepy ), and before it reached me, I started blasting the spray poison, a thick layer of spray coated it and it was no longer able to keep flapping its wings, it fell on the very stair step I was on, on its back. it was squirming around trying to toproll back to its stomach, but I kept spraying the hell out of it while I felt the most accelerating heart beats of my life pounding through my chest. Both fear and excitement rushed through me skin, raising all my hairs up with goose bumps, I felt victorious that day as if I had vanquished a demon posessed cockroach. Indeed this experience was strange, to this day i do feel the roach had it out for me, even freaking attacked me, it aimed, and flew directly at my face, but luckily I reacted quick enough. who knows, If it would have succeeded, I may not be alive to tell the story today, like what if it had landed on my face and I would have fell backwards from the stairs and hit my head and never wake up. so to this day, I know cockroaches are devils servants. lol

I recommend everyone listen to his hour and half video on German cockroaches and follow his steps exactly. I live in a block stucco home, def think it would be easy for these things to live inside the block. I also have older plaster walls and see the block behind it on the exterior when I drill. Obviously not an insulated home since it was built late 30’s I’m doing your procedure in the other video. Folks, I have already seen 3 small dabs of bait missing overnight and that is only after seeing one of these things. He’s right! Doesn’t matter if you live in a clean home. You can get them from anywhere, even nice hotels
When I move in a new apartment I always seal up all cracks, gaps, around water pipes and anything that bugs can travel from another apartment to mines is blocked also put screens on AC vents

I had a messy house for some time. I called a cleaning lady to help me out and start fresh. Since then I keep up on cleaning. That hasn’t really done anything about the roaches except I don’t see them as much in other areas of my house during the day. My whole building has them so there’s really nothing I can do except be happy to see less of them and to know they haven’t decided to use there wings to fly around my house.
You need to watch my video on German roaches. If you live in a building with multiple dwellings, then you cannot eliminate them entirely, but you can reduce the population by over 99% in your unit. If you do everything correctly, then any roaches that enter from other units will die within a few days, before they can establish an infestation in your home. Palmetto bugs are actually just American roaches. People call them palmetto bugs because it sounds better than roaches. They are easy to get rid of. American cockroaches are an outside roach and they do not usually survive well indoors. The reason you see them inside sometimes is because they are trying to escape the weather outside. Most of the time, they will just die on their own if you do absolutely nothing inside. They can infest your home, but it is fairly unusual. I suggest that you wait about a month before you do any treatment inside. If the problem persists, then you can simply apply Nibor-D on all surfaces inside your cabinets where you are seeing the activity. You can also puff boric acid into all the cracks and crevices. After that, apply any gel bait that you like in areas where you are seeing the activity. Just use small dots of the bait and place them about 12 inches apart where you are seeing the activity. To prevent the problem, you need to treat the outside of your home. You can simply treat the building, but it is more effective if you treat the entire yard. I will give you a link to my video on how to treat the exterior of the house and a link to my video on how to treat your yard. Personally, I do both of those things because, not only will it stop American cockroaches, it will also prevent almost every other kind of bug from entering your house. If you are treating your yard with a hose end sprayer, you can just go ahead and treat the exterior of your house with it as well. It is super fast to do it that way and it will not cause any harm to you or the environment. That being said, I have to tell you that you are not supposed to do it that way because it exceeds label recommendations, but it really doesn't hurt anything. I hope that helps. Be well my friend. I remember the first time I saw a “Palmetto” bug in Georgia. It was on a wall. I poked at it and it began to fly! 😱 An experience that I will never forget!

We actually had a hisser as a pet from a friend growing up. They actually make good pets, believe it or not! Now...American and smokey browns are disgusting and I can't see them as pets because they are notorious for spreading illness. They send me up the wall each time I see them near me. 😂
I once found a small paperback book that was "All You Ever Wanted to Know About Roaches." It was very informative but also comical because they had cartoon drawings of the roaches. One was a German Roach marching. He had one of those helmets with the spike on top. He was drawn like a person with four arms. The next page had a German Roach saluting. He had his head turned to the front and was wearing a monocle. One of my other favorites was the pregnant roach. She was sitting in a rocking chair, wearing a maternity top, and knitting a little sweater with 4 arms. Years later, I discovered "Black Flag Roach Ender." It was amazing! But I knew they would take it off the market because it worked so good!
Bangle is the way to go. It's expensive. But permethrine is the way to go when it comes to German roaches. It works on the big ones too, and it has a long-lasting residual effect.
I had a descent cockroach infestation in my apartment, I was stressed, I'm an athlete so I take cold showers and ice baths, so winter time I opened all the windows and never used the heater. It was so cold that you could see your breath in the living room. Every cockroach disappeared
I threw my shoe at a big mother once. He was a big, bad, flying Florida Palmetto bug. Of course he dodged my shoe, and for the rest of the night, while I was trying to sleep, he kamikaze bombed my head. Needless to say, I was unable to sleep at all that night.
I remember the big roaches in my parent's house when I was a kid. Pretty sure they were American Cockroaches. They were around till I was in my teenage years. Then they got the house treated, and I don't guess I ever saw another one. Although my parents are gone, we still own the house, and my sister lives there. Now she has a brown recluse problem. I killed about a dozen when I was cleaning her house while she was in the hospital recently. I know what they look like. I guess I should look for your ideas on spider problems.

I cant believe I used to grab them slimy looking roaches that live on the dirt with my own two hands when I was a child. I would play with them as if they were pets. ahhh being poor gives you superpowers lol
I lived in a group of duplexes in a place called So Pasadene..upscale town..the duplexes were old ,but well kept and the owner sprayed twice a year for bigs..you could watch as they sprayed one unit
I had cockroach infestation from when I was born until I was 15 when my family moved out in the dead of winter! All apartments we moved to were infested with them . Moving out during the summer those little 💩s would naturally hitched a ride with us. That 10F below winter day we moved they froze and we didn't get them ever again. That's just my anecdote. Now that I did some quick research, roaches cannot survive cold temps below 50 degrees F. The colder it is outside the less time it takes for the little suckers to turn into icicles. Move out during the winter, y'all!
I always believed that they became immmuned to those chemicals. The best way to get rid of them is Boric Acid. If you see one just sprinle it on them and areas you know they breed at. The one with the acid on it will take it back to the nest and they will be eliminated. Works on ants as well
The roaches don't actually take much of the boric acid back to the hiding place, so this will not kill the other roaches. That is why you need to apply the boric acid directly into the hiding places. There is actually a lot to it if you have German roaches. Other species are much easier and you don't necessarily need to go after them the same way. I'm German and I had no idea that there was a species of cockroaches associated with my country. I've seen very few cockroaches in Germany. I now live in Thailand and they are a common sight here, especially in rainy season. I occasionally see one in the house but never had an infestation, they indeed seem to prefer the great outdoors.

I use a commercial grade pest spray for the exterior of my house and garage and it works great. When I bought the property I discovered that there is a sanitary sewer man hole in the corner of my backyard. Since I can’t open it I sprayed in the holes on the cover and roaches would come out by the hundreds. So I started including it in my defense and after about the third treatment I don’t get any out of it anymore. I’ve been living here since 1985.
I know years ago it was quite rampant in many North American cities, but I think there have been improvements with city laws being harsh against landlords who do nothing.
These are probably American roaches or Oriental roaches. They are often referred to as sewer roaches because they do hang out in sewers, but they do not have the ability to get past the sink traps in your home. However, they will come in from the outside, because they also live in the landscaping, as well as sewers. They enter buildings when the weather conditions are unfavorable for them. Those are most likely American roaches. They are big and they are capable of flight for short distances. They have a subspecies of them in Hawaii that will fly right at you when you walk outside. They call them B-52 roaches there because they are like bombers. So, consider yourself lucky. You can get rid of them by treating your yard. Please watch my video on the subject. Be well Rosanne. I only get the large American ones, they don't live in my house, but get in through the door even though I've insulated them good. Once they get in the house they usually die within the hour since I spray often. I live near a storm basin and that's where they originate from. Every summer I usually get about a half o dozen or so. I did have a cat that used to catch them, but he's passed away now. I've found there's nothing I can do but either put the stomp on em' or wait for them to die and send my little robot vacuum over to scoop em' up. I started spraying more outside since that's where I can always find them.

One time I lend out my mixer to a friend. When I got it back I noticed a roach fell out of it. I right away opened the back of it and saw that it was infested. I was so mad. Anyways I right away sprayed the thing drench with raid bug spray and sealed the unit in a trash bag and put it outside. I thought that was the end of it, So next couple days kept seeing a roach pop up here and there near the sink. I killed them as I seen them but I wanted to catch them before they did full on colony. So I looked under every where in the kitchen and turns out they were nesting under our pets food area that has a mat that protects the floor from water and food spillage. I lift the mat up and a bunch of roaches scattered. I killed most of them but some got away. I right away called pest control. They came out and did full service and checked everywhere. They sprayed in key areas and put down traps and such. They did this every 2 weeks for 2 months. The traps was not to stop them but to see if the problem is still going on. Finally the traps stopped catching them which means they are likely not around. This was 2 years ago and never seen a single roach since. The pest guy told me we got them early before they settled. Point of this is if you catch it early and be aggressive on first sign and do not stop until the problem is for sure gone. We were not going to stop the treatments until it was 100% which we did.
Very informative. I usually bait and spray a ortho insect spray barrier around rhe door, and window seals including outside every six months or so. When I visit family in the Bahamas I normally use a brand called Suretox, sadly it isnt sold in the United States, but ive never seen a insceticide kill instantly like that. I did one small spray in my grandparents kitchen. 10 minutes later about 20 roaches were scattered all about on the walls and ground. The way they were moving about, you can tell they were suffocaing. I sprayed the sepetic tank as well just to reduce the numbers a small bit, and the result was all the same.😊😮😢

I lived in a old hotel the rooming house in the town I live in and they had a German cockroach infestation and those things were horrible to get rid of, I will say this though in my experience the only thing harder to get rid of than cockroaches are bed bugs.
I was born and reared in a big country farmhouse and my mother used to burn big tree trunks when she put the fire down at night cockroaches would come out of the hearth so how did they survive all the heat for so long? When the atomic bomb was tested at Maralinga the only things which survived were cockroaches Yikes
A cockroach in a dirty house is considered a Rich cockroach. Lots of food and many many hiding spaces And a cockroach in a clean an nice house is considered poor. Dont get a lot of food and maybe only got 2 or 3 good hiding spaces
I have a septic tank and once while chasing this fast elusive roach it fell into the toilet. I flushed it down and I often wonder. Did it die or find itself in roach heaven??
Ahhh. One of the great mysteries of life. It's hard to know. If that was a pregnant female, then it is quite possible that your septic system will be full of them. They may eventually even clog it up. It all depends on the conditions. Hopefully, you flushed a male. The good news is they cannot get back in through the plumbing. That was a one way trip. I had some American roaches invade my last apartment. The exterminator came and told me they were coming up out of the sewer from the hot water heater drain but they typically don't live indoors. I was kind of freaking out because I'd seen a tossed out a couch that was infested with German cockroaches (they were scattering everywhere) - and that was just outside the wall of my apartment. I guess those didn't get in.
I'm surprised that you don't have a video on the number 1 pest that's even more challenging to get rid of than roaches which happens to be Bedbugs. Please do an exhortation about how to effectively kill these things from their hiding places.
I am considering a video on bed bugs. The problem is that it will cost about $200 to produce and I need authorization from my wife to spend that money. Also, it will take a lot of production time, and my wife does not like giving me up for that long. I definitely have it on my mind and I will most likely do it at some point, but it's not scheduled yet. It will take a lot of coordination to pull off. A lot of people are asking for it though, so I will try and move it up the priority list. Meanwhile, Solutions Pest and Lawn has a pretty good bed bug video. The procedure they show you in the video is very good. The only thing is that you need to be more thorough than they suggested in the video. I recommend doing this treatment in all the rooms and not just the bedrooms. Bed bugs can be in your living room as well, and even your dining room. So, you should be treating all the upholstered furniture. You should also vacuum and treat all the floors, and you should treat all the base boards as well. Also, after vacuuming everything, you can use a steamer to treat hiding places. The steam will immediately kill bed bugs. Get a good one that is used for cleaning and not for getting wrinkles out of clothes. The key to getting rid of bed bugs is to be thorough and treat absolutely everything. I went to my local home depot and got these sticky traps it's basically a small rectangle a paper with like sticky glue on ITIT can even catch mice and you can live released them by pouring a vegetable oil on it But we use those when we got cockroaches and basically caught them all before they can multiply and that's it they were gone within a month or so You can buy them like 2 for $5And we are so glad it worked because we heard cockroaches were impossible to get rid of well not really if you know what you're doing
That will only work on some species. Not all roaches are created equal. For some species, all you need to do is treat the outside and they stop coming in. With some species you can just treat the drains. It all depends on what you are dealing with. Be well my friend.
I use them in the basement for the cave bugs! They're disgusting! I don't get many however, one is too many! They don't hurt you nor bite you but, hell they will fly right towards your face! Half spider half cricket!
Cockroaches also love cardboard boxes. We could not figure out where our roaches were coming from. We kept the house immaculate. And then I forget why we were taking the box with the Christmas tree in and out of the closet, but we put it down and all the roaches went scurrying. They were inside the corrugation. They were also dining on the glue that was holding the Christmas tree together.
I have found a way to totally exterminate an infestation regardless how large or small. I've done this several times and it works. If you live in an area where winters get below 18° at night and not about 32° during the day for at least a week straight, you can freeze them out. It will take a minimum of 5 days to kill every single German cockroach. You will need to prepare your plumbing by removing your water meter and using an air compressor to blow out your water lines completely!!! Once your pipes are protected from freeze damage turn off your main electrical breaker, that is a must. Then simply open everything up like cabinets, closets including windows if you can and go stay at motel for a week. When you return home you'll see dead roaches everywhere. If you return before the five days, and once the house warms up just about every roach starts wiggling then get back on their feet and head for cover. The five day mark is based off the temperatures I listed above and must be followed. But if you go the full 5 days or longer with the night time temperature 18° or lower and day time temperature not going above freezing it will give you a 100% kill and no more infestation.

Yes, you can eat most insects including coachroaches which are more nutritious and safer than a bag of potato chips or fries. They don't have obesity, diabetes and atherosclerotic heart disease like we do here.

Don't knock it until you tried it. They recommend crispy fried first to get started, gets all the moisture out. Shrimps and lobster were food for the destitute, look at it now.
Many years ago, I lived in New Orleans for a year. Did I have roaches in my apartment? Are you kidding? The exterminator came once a month, and while he didn't exterminate them, he at least discouraged their nightly kitchen orgies. The deal was, if I didn't see them in my bedroom, or step on them at night, or find them in food, I wouldn't complain. It worked out. I figured I wouldn't live there long enough for serious warfare.

Most species of roaches do not usually breed in the walls. However, German roaches do. If you have them in the walls, it's because they were in the living space before they got into the walls, or they came in from an adjoining apartment. In either case, they will not remain in the walls. They breed at an alarming rate. When the wall void becomes overcrowded, they will be coming out to pay you a visit. You will first notice them at night if you turn on a light. They will freeze, but will run if you get close. As the infestation grows, they will begin to appear during the day. After the infestation is well advanced, you will start to see the nymphs running around during the day, seemingly uncaring about your presence. Most of the time, you will find them in the kitchen first, in cabinet hinges, under the sink, under and behind the refrigerator and stove, and that sort of thing. They love heat, so you will often see the first signs of them under and behind the refrigerator, but it is also common to see them under the sink as well. If you use a flashlight, you can usually find them. Look for fecal matter around switches and outlets. Also look for fecal matter under the sink. It looks like pepper. Trust me. If you have an infestation in the walls, you will find out about it. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.
I use to live in upstate NY and I’ve never seen a cockroach. Only once in NYC visiting a friend. I now live in Arizona and I have seen 2 American cockroach’s in my apartment. I’m very shaken up and am in fight mode trying to make sure they never enter my apartment again.
thankfully I don't have roaches but my building has a different infestation and that is ants! they are not as disgusting but terribly hard to get rid of. I can't store my food in the pantry anymore. It's all crammed in the fridge. :(
Hi Feli, i have german ancestry and love my electric kettle which has a thermostat. Great for making tea. I bought an electric kettle for my brother who does make pour through coffee. Electric kettles heat up water a lot faster. BTW i have an induction cook top I also have a sofa stream, andcnnotice that you have the newer model. I grew up with a shoe horn but haven't used one in 50 years. I also have one of my dads folding measurer
The exterminators are really just controllers. They will reduce the population for a while, but the roaches will become resistant to the products they use and the problem will eventually become even worse over time. If you want to eliminate the infestation, then fire the pest controller and watch my video on how to totally eliminate the infestation. My treatment plan never fails, if done properly. Frozen pipes can burst and that is not fun to fix if they are behind the drywall. There is also a way to put non-toxic antifreeze in the pipes, which is a good idea. Any RV retailer can explain how to do it. There are probably lots of UA-cam videos on it as well.

All industrialized countries use traps. There may be some third world countries that don't, but I think that would be the exception and not the rule. Not all countries require a p trap though. Some use a bottle trap and that makes it look like there is no trap under the sink. However, a bottle trap will also prevent roaches from entering. Traps are necessary to prevent sewer gasses from entering the building, which would be very hazardous. I hope that clears it up for you. Be well my friend.
Florida here. My van got infested with german cockroaches while I was shopping in a walmart. This particular walmart parking lot was infested. By the time I realized the exterior of my van was crawling with bugs and drove off it was too late. I tried everything i could think of. Combat baits, raid bug bombs, diatomaceous earth, boric acid tablets absolutely nothing worked. Googled it again and it said they could go a long time without food but only a few days without water. Turned out "Hotshot" baits are liquid based and that worked. By morning they were all poisoned. Still pick one up here and there but leave out a bait and they're gone in days. They like sweet potatoes which I feed to my dog. They bore a small hole in them so I always know as soon as I have one.
I had German roaches in my car, I vacuumed almost everyday but they were still there. I would get an iced coffee from wawa and leave the cup of ice in my car with some honey in it. I come back in the morning and a bunch of them were dead in a small puddle in the cup

I used to be a licensed exterminator. The only thing I know about cockroaches is that I am being haunted by the ghost of the mother roach. I waged war for two years on the German roaches of my town. After saturating an empty house with chemicals, crack and crevasse, spray, fog, bait, and even hormone traps, I was attacked by the largest German roach I have ever seen. It was the mother roach. She was vowing to seek her revenge on me in the afterlife. I have been haunted ever since.

When I got my apartment, my adjoining neighbor had an infestation which caused my unit to be infested.
My landlord ended up hiring a pest control company to treat both units at the same time. I spent the night with my sister.

My exposure to roaches as a child led to an extreme fear of them. You never get used to living with them. After my parents got divorced, when I was 6, my mom, me, and my brother moved into a roach infested apartment. Roaches were everywhere. On the kitchen utensils, on my clothes in the morning, everywhere. It really screwed me up in the head. Well, eventually, my mom got remarried, and we moved into a new apartment. Problem is, I think we took the roaches with us. Why? Because we took our refrigerator, microwave, and all our stuff with us from the roach-infested apartment to the new apartment. For a while, I was so happy to be in a new apartment with no roaches, but after a year or so....roaches. Even the neighbors blamed us, and I think they were right. One night, while I was sleeping, my brother woke me up and told me not to move. Then, he took a shoe and crushed a roach on my pillow, right next to my face. After that, I've usually slept with the lights on, no matter where I've lived, and that aforementioned roach incident happened 35+ year ago, back in the mid 1980s.

Many decades ago, we lived in a apartment complex. We could always tell when the exterminator had sprayed the apartment next to us because all the German roaches came into our apartment. And I am sure that our neighbors could tell when our place was sprayed.
That is very true. If you fog one apartment, the roaches move deeper into the walls and they will head toward an adjoining apartment. Fogging will kill a lot of roaches, but not all of them, and they will be back. Thanks for sharing. Be well my friend.

It may take some time to see them again. If you go a year without seeing any, then you are probably okay. Check it out at night. Open the door and look with a flashlight. Actually I had to exterminate cockroaches in a certain set of apartment buildings. For however squeaky clean the apartments were, the apartments would get filled with cockroaches again with a year a two.
The main problem was the the sewer drainage system inside the building and the main drainage pipe coming off the building. The plumbers/builders of the building did not hermetically seal the sewage pipe, and with age they even leaked slightly more. From what I could ascertain, the cockroaches first congregated and started building large nests in the basement where all the main sewer pipes of the building reached and interconnected. All these pipes interconnected with a type of catch basin box made of brick and cement mortar. None of this was built well, and had cracks and crevices, were cockroches could enter and leave the sewer system. Also to make matters worse, the main vertical pipes going up from the basement to the aparments was full of gaps behind the walls were the cockroaches could live, nest, and also enter and leave the sewer system through the cracks in the pipes. From these gaps behind the walls they would eventually find a way to enter all the aparments.
The only way to be rid of the roaches was to redo a large portion of the botched plumbing work and botched masonary work and seal up as much as possible(to cut off food supply and ease of entering and leaving the sewer system), the most accessible was in the basement, so that was all sealed, redone, and after exterminating, they haven't been back.
TL;DR a lot of the cockroach problems are indirectly due to botched and shotty contruction and plumbing.
I can attest to the durability of German cockroaches. My parents had an infestation for years and it seemed hopeless. No pest controller could rid the house of the roaches. One year a big freeze came through texas and knocked the power out for over two weeks. The temps were fridgid. The roaches could not survive because there was no where they could go.

I live in a neighborhood that 40 years ago was totally infested with the big roaches. When I moved back the housing shortages were real, and I could only find a place here. To my surprise there were rarely any seen, and none in my building. The exterminators have done a great job. I haven't seen a roach for over two years.

I have to agree about roaches nesting in the wall. I had no problem with roaches for years. I had a water leak that caused water damage to the drywall. We replaced and repaired the wall and weeks later I started seeing roaches.
Same for me. Water damage needs to be completely repaired not just painted over.
Our biology teacher told us a story about his colleague, who kept cockroaches in his lab terrarium. Those smart little things built a pyramid out of their bodies to allow some of them escape.

I've seen several random roaches in my complex, and I caught them! The first one took me about an hour to catch and it lasted in a mason jar for over two weeks with no water, no food. The last one I accidently cut it in half trying to catch it. I put it in a bag and it was still alive! That was on the 3rd of September. It is the 10th and it is still alive! The head is at least! I love your channel!

You forgot to mention that they quickly develop immunities to the poisons used to get rid of them. After using the same poison repeatedly you eventually end up with roaches that are not effected by that poison. You have to change the poison types to get rid of all of them.

I had a box of boric acid tablets and they were living inside the box, I would shake it a lot and a few ran out.
Unless you use Borax. Works like a charm and never stops working.
I started seeing the occasional roach in my house and called an exterminator. The first person the company assigned to the task didn't seem to help much at all. And yes, he laid out a lot of traps which did in fact kill the occasional roach. I complained and they apologized and sent their "best man". Well, he noted that they were German cockroaches and that we had a battle on our hands. Many hours and visits later, after sweeping and vacuuming oodles of dead cockroaches everywhere, I stopped seeing them alive. That was years ago and the same gentleman still visits me on a regular basis. He earned my trust and patronage. And I can't remember the last time I have seen a cockroach in my house. In fact, I rarely if ever see ANY insects in my house.

We complained to the neighbors and the grocery clerk and the gas attendant and they all just yawned and "Yep". No one seemed disgusted by the bugs but us!! We almost moved! But we didn't and we learned to keep them away and learned to live with them. Just yesterday I had to walk out late at night and call the cat. Normally I would be scared of large bugs creeping on the ground and large moths flying around or frogs stuck on the windows, but not anymore. Now I love the sounds of frogs and cicadas singing in the trees and colored butterflies flitting past my head and fireflys. . I am really starting to adore nature. I never saw one around my house until I started using bird feeders , I added screen wire under the feeders to keep wasted ,discarded seeds off ground.

Interesting. Our upstairs neighbor has a bird feeder, and pits of the seeds fall on our balcony all the time. Birds love them, and a squirrel, but I wonder if we had our first American roach because of it. Do you remember what type of roaches you starteds seeing?

I've always had a messy house, but only once did I get an infestion. I moved out.
I have a cockroach phobia. I'm not scared of any other arthropod, no, not even bees, wasps, or venomous spiders. In fact bees and wasps do not sting me, and neither have widow, recluse, or tarantula spiders. I know what they are capable of after all. German cockroaches are the worst, then Asian. Being phobic, logic does not play a part. But Madagascar cockroaches don't scare me at all, and I guess that most other species would not worry me if I saw them.

I cleaned the Keurig coffemaker at my son’s apartment where there was a small infestation (he left a bag of sugar open and there was a brown trail into it). When I pulled out the catch tray underneath, the entire thing was stuffed to the top with what looked like hair. A closer look showed that it was thousands of roach legs! Congrats to the lucky person who nabbed the machine out of the dumpster…

Yes. They love beer and alcoholic drinks. My family threw a party one time and when it was over there was beer bottles and liquor paraphernalia all over the place. When I got up the next morning I saw the half empty bottles were filled with live and drowned roaches. We got rid of over half the infestation in that one night.😊
I never feared roaches until living by a lake in central Mexico. These roaches are very large and often quite fearless (shudder)They walk into where you are sitting as night falls… creepy

I myself was attacked by a cockroach the size of my index finger. I was walking upstairs to my room, when I suddenly noticed the biggest roach I have ever seen posing on the ceiling which was right above the last step of the stairs. I noticed it was facing its head in my direction, I sensed it was looking at me. I got creeped out by the fact that this was a gotdamn cretaceous sized cockroach, the biggest Ive seen in my town.
I runned to the kitchen to grab my roach killer spray, when I came back to the first step of the stairs, it was still there, looking at me. I swear I felt evil intentions from this roach. I slowly started climbing up the stairs, and when I was mid way to the stairs, the cockraoch launches at me, spreading its freaking wings ( which no flying roaches existed in my town, so even more creepy ), and before it reached me, I started blasting the spray poison, a thick layer of spray coated it and it was no longer able to keep flapping its wings, it fell on the very stair step I was on, on its back. it was squirming around trying to toproll back to its stomach, but I kept spraying the hell out of it while I felt the most accelerating heart beats of my life pounding through my chest. Both fear and excitement rushed through me skin, raising all my hairs up with goose bumps, I felt victorious that day as if I had vanquished a demon posessed cockroach.
Indeed this experience was strange, to this day i do feel the roach had it out for me, even freaking attacked me, it aimed, and flew directly at my face, but luckily I reacted quick enough. who knows, If it would have succeeded, I may not be alive to tell the story today, like what if it had landed on my face and I would have fell backwards from the stairs and hit my head and never wake up. so to this day, I know cockroaches are devils servants. lol

I live in a block stucco home, def think it would be easy for these things to live inside the block. I also have older plaster walls and see the block behind it on the exterior when I drill. Obviously not an insulated home since it was built late 30’s

When I move in a new apartment I always seal up all cracks, gaps, around water pipes and anything that bugs can travel from another apartment to mines is blocked also put screens on AC vents

I had a messy house for some time. I called a cleaning lady to help me out and start fresh. Since then I keep up on cleaning. That hasn’t really done anything about the roaches except I don’t see them as much in other areas of my house during the day. My whole building has them so there’s really nothing I can do except be happy to see less of them and to know they haven’t decided to use there wings to fly around my house.
You need to watch my video on German roaches. If you live in a building with multiple dwellings, then you cannot eliminate them entirely, but you can reduce the population by over 99% in your unit. If you do everything correctly, then any roaches that enter from other units will die within a few days, before they can establish an infestation in your home. Living in Florida we also have palmeto " roaches.
Palmetto bugs are actually just American roaches. People call them palmetto bugs because it sounds better than roaches. They are easy to get rid of. American cockroaches are an outside roach and they do not usually survive well indoors. The reason you see them inside sometimes is because they are trying to escape the weather outside. Most of the time, they will just die on their own if you do absolutely nothing inside. They can infest your home, but it is fairly unusual. I suggest that you wait about a month before you do any treatment inside. If the problem persists, then you can simply apply Nibor-D on all surfaces inside your cabinets where you are seeing the activity. You can also puff boric acid into all the cracks and crevices. After that, apply any gel bait that you like in areas where you are seeing the activity. Just use small dots of the bait and place them about 12 inches apart where you are seeing the activity.
To prevent the problem, you need to treat the outside of your home. You can simply treat the building, but it is more effective if you treat the entire yard. I will give you a link to my video on how to treat the exterior of the house and a link to my video on how to treat your yard. Personally, I do both of those things because, not only will it stop American cockroaches, it will also prevent almost every other kind of bug from entering your house. If you are treating your yard with a hose end sprayer, you can just go ahead and treat the exterior of your house with it as well. It is super fast to do it that way and it will not cause any harm to you or the environment. That being said, I have to tell you that you are not supposed to do it that way because it exceeds label recommendations, but it really doesn't hurt anything.

I once found a small paperback book that was "All You Ever Wanted to Know About Roaches." It was very informative but also comical because they had cartoon drawings of the roaches. One was a German Roach marching. He had one of those helmets with the spike on top. He was drawn like a person with four arms. The next page had a German Roach saluting. He had his head turned to the front and was wearing a monocle. One of my other favorites was the pregnant roach. She was sitting in a rocking chair, wearing a maternity top, and knitting a little sweater with 4 arms.
Years later, I discovered "Black Flag Roach Ender." It was amazing! But I knew they would take it off the market because it worked so good!
Bangle is the way to go. It's expensive. But permethrine is the way to go when it comes to German roaches. It works on the big ones too, and it has a long-lasting residual effect.

I had a descent cockroach infestation in my apartment, I was stressed, I'm an athlete so I take cold showers and ice baths, so winter time I opened all the windows and never used the heater. It was so cold that you could see your breath in the living room. Every cockroach disappeared

I threw my shoe at a big mother once. He was a big, bad, flying Florida Palmetto bug. Of course he dodged my shoe, and for the rest of the night, while I was trying to sleep, he kamikaze bombed my head. Needless to say, I was unable to sleep at all that night.
I remember the big roaches in my parent's house when I was a kid. Pretty sure they were American Cockroaches. They were around till I was in my teenage years. Then they got the house treated, and I don't guess I ever saw another one. Although my parents are gone, we still own the house, and my sister lives there. Now she has a brown recluse problem. I killed about a dozen when I was cleaning her house while she was in the hospital recently. I know what they look like. I guess I should look for your ideas on spider problems.
You can prevent brown recluse spiders and all sorts of other pests from entering the house by doing an outside treatment. I will give you a link to my video on how to do it.

I lived in a group of duplexes in a place called So Pasadene..upscale town..the duplexes were old ,but well kept and the owner sprayed twice a year for bigs..you could watch as they sprayed one unit
I had cockroach infestation from when I was born until I was 15 when my family moved out in the dead of winter! All apartments we moved to were infested with them . Moving out during the summer those little 💩s would naturally hitched a ride with us. That 10F below winter day we moved they froze and we didn't get them ever again. That's just my anecdote.
Now that I did some quick research, roaches cannot survive cold temps below 50 degrees F. The colder it is outside the less time it takes for the little suckers to turn into icicles. Move out during the winter, y'all!
I always believed that they became immmuned to those chemicals. The best way to get rid of them is Boric Acid. If you see one just sprinle it on them and areas you know they breed at. The one with the acid on it will take it back to the nest and they will be eliminated. Works on ants as well
The roaches don't actually take much of the boric acid back to the hiding place, so this will not kill the other roaches. That is why you need to apply the boric acid directly into the hiding places. There is actually a lot to it if you have German roaches. Other species are much easier and you don't necessarily need to go after them the same way. I'm German and I had no idea that there was a species of cockroaches associated with my country. I've seen very few cockroaches in Germany. I now live in Thailand and they are a common sight here, especially in rainy season. I occasionally see one in the house but never had an infestation, they indeed seem to prefer the great outdoors.

I use a commercial grade pest spray for the exterior of my house and garage and it works great. When I bought the property I discovered that there is a sanitary sewer man hole in the corner of my backyard. Since I can’t open it I sprayed in the holes on the cover and roaches would come out by the hundreds. So I started including it in my defense and after about the third treatment I don’t get any out of it anymore. I’ve been living here since 1985.

I spent my childhood & early teenage years in nyc, specifically bronx. EVERY apartment that me & my family lived in there was overrun by roaches.
I know years ago it was quite rampant in many North American cities, but I think there have been improvements with city laws being harsh against landlords who do nothing.

Lived in Phoenix, AZ for a long time and we have “sewer roaches” which are 3-4 inches in length and fly…amazing they aren’t from the pipes!!
These are probably American roaches or Oriental roaches. They are often referred to as sewer roaches because they do hang out in sewers, but they do not have the ability to get past the sink traps in your home. However, they will come in from the outside, because they also live in the landscaping, as well as sewers. They enter buildings when the weather conditions are unfavorable for them. Those are most likely American roaches. They are big and they are capable of flight for short distances. They have a subspecies of them in Hawaii that will fly right at you when you walk outside. I love your humor, and thanks for teaching me about cockroaches, now i know that the ones in the bathroom didn't came from the sewers as we thought.
I only get the large American ones, they don't live in my house, but get in through the door even though I've insulated them good. Once they get in the house they usually die within the hour since I spray often. I live near a storm basin and that's where they originate from. Every summer I usually get about a half o dozen or so. I did have a cat that used to catch them, but he's passed away now. I've found there's nothing I can do but either put the stomp on em' or wait for them to die and send my little robot vacuum over to scoop em' up. I started spraying more outside since that's where I can always find them.
You need to treat your yard to get rid of them and you need to retreat every 60 to 90 days to keep them from returning. I will give you a link to my video on how to do it. Be well my friend.

One time I lend out my mixer to a friend. When I got it back I noticed a roach fell out of it. I right away opened the back of it and saw that it was infested. I was so mad. Anyways I right away sprayed the thing drench with raid bug spray and sealed the unit in a trash bag and put it outside. I thought that was the end of it, So next couple days kept seeing a roach pop up here and there near the sink. I killed them as I seen them but I wanted to catch them before they did full on colony. So I looked under every where in the kitchen and turns out they were nesting under our pets food area that has a mat that protects the floor from water and food spillage. I lift the mat up and a bunch of roaches scattered. I killed most of them but some got away. I right away called pest control. They came out and did full service and checked everywhere. They sprayed in key areas and put down traps and such.
They did this every 2 weeks for 2 months. The traps was not to stop them but to see if the problem is still going on.
Finally the traps stopped catching them which means they are likely not around.
This was 2 years ago and never seen a single roach since. The pest guy told me we got them early before they settled.
Point of this is if you catch it early and be aggressive on first sign and do not stop until the problem is for sure gone. We were not going to stop the treatments until it was 100% which we did.
Very informative. I usually bait and spray a ortho insect spray barrier around rhe door, and window seals including outside every six months or so. When I visit family in the Bahamas I normally use a brand called Suretox, sadly it isnt sold in the United States, but ive never seen a insceticide kill instantly like that. I did one small spray in my grandparents kitchen. 10 minutes later about 20 roaches were scattered all about on the walls and ground. The way they were moving about, you can tell they were suffocaing. I sprayed the sepetic tank as well just to reduce the numbers a small bit, and the result was all the same.😊😮😢

I lived in a old hotel the rooming house in the town I live in and they had a German cockroach infestation and those things were horrible to get rid of, I will say this though in my experience the only thing harder to get rid of than cockroaches are bed bugs.
I was born and reared in a big country farmhouse and my mother used to burn big tree trunks when she put the fire down at night cockroaches would come out of the hearth so how did they survive all the heat for so long? When the atomic bomb was tested at Maralinga the only things which survived were cockroaches Yikes

I have a septic tank and once while chasing this fast elusive roach it fell into the toilet. I flushed it down and I often wonder. Did it die or find itself in roach heaven??
Ahhh. One of the great mysteries of life. It's hard to know. If that was a pregnant female, then it is quite possible that your septic system will be full of them. They may eventually even clog it up. It all depends on the conditions. Hopefully, you flushed a male. The good news is they cannot get back in through the plumbing. That was a one way trip.

I had some American roaches invade my last apartment. The exterminator came and told me they were coming up out of the sewer from the hot water heater drain but they typically don't live indoors. I was kind of freaking out because I'd seen a tossed out a couch that was infested with German cockroaches (they were scattering everywhere) - and that was just outside the wall of my apartment. I guess those didn't get in.
I guess in a colder climate one would not see sofa infestations.

I'm surprised that you don't have a video on the number 1 pest that's even more challenging to get rid of than roaches which happens to be Bedbugs. Please do an exhortation about how to effectively kill these things from their hiding places.
I am considering a video on bed bugs. The problem is that it will cost about $200 to produce and I need authorization from my wife to spend that money. Also, it will take a lot of production time, and my wife does not like giving me up for that long. I definitely have it on my mind and I will most likely do it at some point, but it's not scheduled yet. It will take a lot of coordination to pull off. A lot of people are asking for it though, so I will try and move it up the priority list. Meanwhile, Solutions Pest and Lawn has a pretty good bed bug video. The procedure they show you in the video is very good. The only thing is that you need to be more thorough than they suggested in the video. I recommend doing this treatment in all the rooms and not just the bedrooms. Bed bugs can be in your living room as well, and even your dining room. So, you should be treating all the upholstered furniture. You should also vacuum and treat all the floors, and you should treat all the base boards as well. Also, after vacuuming everything, you can use a steamer to treat hiding places. The steam will immediately kill bed bugs. Get a good one that is used for cleaning and not for getting wrinkles out of clothes. The key to getting rid of bed bugs is to be thorough and treat absolutely everything. After steaming, then you can apply the products that are recommended in the video.

I live my whole live in Germany and never saw a cockroache there, but whenever I travel to another continent, I see these everywhere.
That's because they are a native species to you and an invasive one to America.
I went to my local home depot and got these sticky traps it's basically a small rectangle a paper with like sticky glue on ITIT can even catch mice and you can live released them by pouring a vegetable oil on it But we use those when we got cockroaches and basically caught them all before they can multiply and that's it they were gone within a month or so You can buy them like 2 for $5And we are so glad it worked because we heard cockroaches were impossible to get rid of well not really if you know what you're doing
That will only work on some species. Not all roaches are created equal. For some species, all you need to do is treat the outside and they stop coming in. With some species you can just treat the drains. It all depends on what you are dealing with. Be well my friend.
I use them in the basement for the cave bugs! They're disgusting! I don't get many however, one is too many! They don't hurt you nor bite you but, hell they will fly right towards your face! Half spider half cricket!

Cockroaches also love cardboard boxes. We could not figure out where our roaches were coming from. We kept the house immaculate. And then I forget why we were taking the box with the Christmas tree in and out of the closet, but we put it down and all the roaches went scurrying. They were inside the corrugation. They were also dining on the glue that was holding the Christmas tree together.
I have found a way to totally exterminate an infestation regardless how large or small. I've done this several times and it works. If you live in an area where winters get below 18° at night and not about 32° during the day for at least a week straight, you can freeze them out. It will take a minimum of 5 days to kill every single German cockroach. You will need to prepare your plumbing by removing your water meter and using an air compressor to blow out your water lines completely!!! Once your pipes are protected from freeze damage turn off your main electrical breaker, that is a must. Then simply open everything up like cabinets, closets including windows if you can and go stay at motel for a week. When you return home you'll see dead roaches everywhere. If you return before the five days, and once the house warms up just about every roach starts wiggling then get back on their feet and head for cover. The five day mark is based off the temperatures I listed above and must be followed. But if you go the full 5 days or longer with the night time temperature 18° or lower and day time temperature not going above freezing it will give you a 100% kill and no more infestation.

Yes, you can eat most insects including coachroaches which are more nutritious and safer than a bag of potato chips or fries. They don't have obesity, diabetes and atherosclerotic heart disease like we do here.

Don't knock it until you tried it. They recommend crispy fried first to get started, gets all the moisture out. Shrimps and lobster were food for the destitute, look at it now.
Many years ago, I lived in New Orleans for a year. Did I have roaches in my apartment? Are you kidding? The exterminator came once a month, and while he didn't exterminate them, he at least discouraged their nightly kitchen orgies. The deal was, if I didn't see them in my bedroom, or step on them at night, or find them in food, I wouldn't complain. It worked out. I figured I wouldn't live there long enough for serious warfare.
Thank you Guy for you channel & $ saving videos. My question here is if a household may have roaches in the wall & a person may never see them then how do you know if you have them?
Most species of roaches do not usually breed in the walls. However, German roaches do. If you have them in the walls, it's because they were in the living space before they got into the walls, or they came in from an adjoining apartment. In either case, they will not remain in the walls. They breed at an alarming rate. When the wall void becomes overcrowded, they will be coming out to pay you a visit. You will first notice them at night if you turn on a light. They will freeze, but will run if you get close. As the infestation grows, they will begin to appear during the day. After the infestation is well advanced, you will start to see the nymphs running around during the day, seemingly uncaring about your presence. Most of the time, you will find them in the kitchen first, in cabinet hinges, under the sink, under and behind the refrigerator and stove, and that sort of thing. They love heat, so you will often see the first signs of them under and behind the refrigerator, but it is also common to see them under the sink as well. If you use a flashlight, you can usually find them. Look for fecal matter around switches and outlets. Also look for fecal matter under the sink. It looks like pepper. Trust me. If you have an infestation in the walls, you will find out about it. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

I just wash some places, like the kitchen and the bathroom, with bleach and soap and it’s extremely rare that I’ve seen one.
Soapy water kills roaches.
I don't know much about roaches, but when the lights are turned on they move fast.
So if your hear your roaches start to speak in German, that would be a bad bad sign..... you need to call an ambulance right away
I use to live in upstate NY and I’ve never seen a cockroach. Only once in NYC visiting a friend. I now live in Arizona and I have seen 2 American cockroach’s in my apartment. I’m very shaken up and am in fight mode trying to make sure they never enter my apartment again.
Those things are everywhere in Phoenix. They won't breed or infest in your apartment. They sneak in from time to time though.

thankfully I don't have roaches but my building has a different infestation and that is ants! they are not as disgusting but terribly hard to get rid of. I can't store my food in the pantry anymore. It's all crammed in the fridge. :(
Hi Feli, i have german ancestry and love my electric kettle which has a thermostat. Great for making tea. I bought an electric kettle for my brother who does make pour through coffee. Electric kettles heat up water a lot faster. BTW i have an induction cook top
I also have a sofa stream, andcnnotice that you have the newer model.
I grew up with a shoe horn but haven't used one in 50 years.

i have an exterminator for a year and they helped some but they are not all gone. i deal with german cockroaches.
The exterminators are really just controllers. They will reduce the population for a while, but the roaches will become resistant to the products they use and the problem will eventually become even worse over time. If you want to eliminate the infestation, then fire the pest controller and watch my video on how to totally eliminate the infestation. My treatment plan never fails, if done properly. It's not easy and you need to take the time to do it right, but it always works. I will give you the link to the video. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

I had german cockroaches for years and finally got rid of them by shutting off all the power and heat to my house during a very cold winter and leaving for 3 days. Just a tip for ppl up north
How did you keep your pipes from freezing?
Don't do that without draining every sink, toilet, pipe, anything that can contain water.
But, yeah, they don't like the cold.
You can freeze them to death, but you do need to drain the plumbing and put antifreeze in all the bath and sink traps and the toilets. Frozen pipes can burst and that is not fun to fix if they are behind the drywall. There is also a way to put non-toxic antifreeze in the pipes, which is a good idea. Any RV retailer can explain how to do it. There are probably lots of UA-cam videos on it as well.

Many countries do not practice to put traps on sinks and shower drains and if you lift any municipal manhole there are many roaches
All industrialized countries use traps. There may be some third world countries that don't, but I think that would be the exception and not the rule. Not all countries require a p trap though. Some use a bottle trap and that makes it look like there is no trap under the sink. However, a bottle trap will also prevent roaches from entering. Traps are necessary to prevent sewer gasses from entering the building, which would be very hazardous. I hope that clears it up for you. Be well my friend.
Florida here. My van got infested with german cockroaches while I was shopping in a walmart. This particular walmart parking lot was infested. By the time I realized the exterior of my van was crawling with bugs and drove off it was too late. I tried everything i could think of. Combat baits, raid bug bombs, diatomaceous earth, boric acid tablets absolutely nothing worked. Googled it again and it said they could go a long time without food but only a few days without water. Turned out "Hotshot" baits are liquid based and that worked. By morning they were all poisoned. Still pick one up here and there but leave out a bait and they're gone in days. They like sweet potatoes which I feed to my dog. They bore a small hole in them so I always know as soon as I have one.
I had German roaches in my car, I vacuumed almost everyday but they were still there. I would get an iced coffee from wawa and leave the cup of ice in my car with some honey in it. I come back in the morning and a bunch of them were dead in a small puddle in the cup

Thank you Sir for your informative presentation. I've been using the ultrasonic pest repellers for about a few months and they seem to be very effective. Given that roaches are increasingly immune to various poisons thrown at them, including the so-called flying ones detected in New York several years ago, are these repellers the way to go in fighting infestations.
