For a really thatchy buffalo lawn that won't scalp very well, would you just send it with a scarifier (predator or SB46) to pull the majority out first and then get the rotary on to scalp? I've got a victa utility which will do the scalping but this lawn I'm thinking of doing is easy 3-5" deep.
Hey mate haha that is deep. You could, but you would want to go carefully so you don't rip up/remove to many stolons. But you should be sweet if you are coming through with the Victa afterwards. Hope that helps mate. Keep me posted with how you went. 😀 👍
Great video. Just wondering why slow release granular this time as in previous videos you've gone with a liquid fertiliser that absorbs faster? Also why no pre emergent or seaweed secrets? Sorry if this has been explained in a previous video
Hey mate Good question. I only use liquid products a few weeks before the reno to give it a quick boost for scalping. And after the reno to aid in recovery. I always use slow release fert at the time the reno is done. Hope that answers your question. 😀 👍
Hey No, probably not going low enough. If you can borrow or rent a mower that goes lower I would recommend that. If thats as low as you can go, then give it a go. If you are aerating though, you will find the tines won't go down very deep at all, so just keep that in mind to. 😀 👍
It is fun and interesting to renovate lawns but it isn't profitable. Much better getting into landscaping jobs you can manage by yourself or with minimal help. I've been in Brisbane in the horticulture game since 1989
Hey I would not do them if they weren't profitable. I do small landscape jobs as well. Garden and lawn builds etc, just don't have the time to film for the channel unfortunately. Have a great day. 😀 👍
That is not nitrogen burn. Looks more like iron stains. Some slow release fertilisers like Plant Doctor's champion product contains iron. A popular product to remove iron stains from concrete is X-Fe Forte.
Hi Troy 100% correct. Thanks for pointing that out. I put the wrong photo in the video edit. 🤦♂️ Most of my editing for videos is done late at night when my brain is not functioning it's best. Unfortunately i cannot change it once it's posted. But thanks mate. Have a great day. 😀 👍
I love how you still caught the postie going through the channel.
haha I know. He pretty much just stared at me as he drove across the lawn.. no care to the red tape i put up. haha oh well.
Great vlog mate. I'm about to tackle a clients buffalo next week. Will need to run the dethatcher through it first cause it's about 4inches thick
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed it. Ye, sounds like you may have to, thats thick. Hammer it out mate. 👍 😀
Been waiting for this video! Nice job and informative as usual, keep us posted about the healing process!
Thanks mate. Appreciate it. 1 week post reno video will be posted this week. Have a great day 👍 😀

Thank mate. That makes sense
@@mowtime Great videos mate, which slow release fert do you recommend for buffalo?
Hi mate. I'm in Brisbane. Would love to get you to do my lawn. How can I get in contact please ??
Hi Bruce
Apologies for the delayed response. You can send an enquiry at www.evergreenlandg.com.au.
Have a great day 😀 👍
Is 25mm on the mower a good height to scalp buffalo at? Was planning to cut at 25mm then run over mine with the dethatcher. Any issues with that?

Great video as always mate.Good to see you using sandy loam instead of straight sand.Hate straight sand with a passion😅
haha ye, I only use sand when required. For most average suburban lawns mowed with a rotary mower, it just doesn't need it.
Have a great week mate 👍 😀

Clean up and tidy after you're done by making it the neighbours problem.
