Mate, started a buffalo lawn reno today, mowed low, then cored it, tried the lawn mower trick to pick up cores but didn’t really work, out came the trusty Stihl Backpack blower and not only did it work faster than a rake, the amount of thatch I got out was amazing, time to fert and top dress tomorrow. Appreciate your great tips, got my sub 1000%
Hey Ben, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been around on UA-cam but just wanted to tell you that Hubby and I were in Orange last weekend for a friend’s birthday party and it was Damm Freezing 🥶 Lol 😂 compared to our Queensland weather, we went to The Wentworth golf club for the party, it’s a lovely town even though it was Cold 🥶, I did do a little shopping 🛍️ Lol 😂, we stayed at the DeRussie hotel. Cheers from Janelle 😊 Oh and the drive down was LONG AND EXHAUSTING, we then went out for dinner with friends that night at a Pub in town, can’t remember the name of it, but we were both So Tired 🥱, left Orange on the Sunday and we’re now in Sydney for hubby to work. 😊
You came on a cold weekend! Glad you had a good time, Orange is such a beautiful spot, if you ever come again check it out in Autumn, that’s why it’s called the colour city! Hope you are well Janelle 👌🏽
@@emmasims5907 Awww 🥰 that would be lovely Emma, I’m sure we’ll be down again, when we do decide when, I’ll have to get your contact information to book in, it would be lovely to meet you guys, Ben has been a great help to me in the past and now present that I’m getting back into my lawn again after an awful couple of years but things have finally getting back to some kind of normal. Best Wishes from Janelle xx
Yo mate what up welcome to another lawn tip vid.. all makes sense now you got the bro to start working with you get him on the push mowers while your the rideon princess 🤣🤣 looks good mate🤙
Is it ok to still go ahead with a Reno if you haven’t sprayed out some weeds, winter grass etc? I live in Victoria so clover and winter grass are a pain. Also, it overseeding, where in the process would you recommend to do this? Love your work. Cheers
Ben, did I hear you say that you can use that soil/sand on Buffalo/Sir Walter, I have some dips in my lawn that need some TLC and it’s finally starting to get back to looking pretty good after a couple of years of not having time to put into our lawn like I once did, but now I’m getting back into it and it’s starting to look good again, almost tempted to rip the Buffalo up and replace it with Queensland Couch, but I’ll see how it continues to grow this season before we go down that track. Should have listened to You years ago when I asked for your advice on what type of grass to lay, but got talked out of it by our landscaper 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️.
Hey Ben, I have a quick question. I will be doing a full reno with perennial ryegrass this coming autumn. I plan on tilling the yard due to some pretty severe compaction. I know in one of your videos you mentioned when you did the reno at your old place, you wished you would’ve tilled some sand into the existing soil to help it stay level over time. Is this something I should look into? I am concerned about creating “concrete” as some would say by tilling sand into my clay soil. Any advice would be fantastic thank you!
Nice. How long after scalping can/should you put PGR down? Mines about 90% grown back, still a couple of dirt patches where rhe scarifier went quite low
Yo what up, ben Just starting to plan out a brand new lawn for after a new home construction just wondering what would make for the best prep for the long term? Will need to bring in top soil to level anything you recommend to do prior?
Was aiming for first today. Fourth isn’t too bad. We’ll done Ivan. I’ve been sitting with my coffee waiting for this to drop so my weekend can begin. 👌
Hey mate! Currently swapping over to your products from plant doctor. What liquid fertiliders do you recommend for EZ in SEQ? Curator, seavival, enhanced etc? Cheers mate
Hi Ben, up my way I can only get brickies (washed) sand, river sand, render sand, white brickies sand and bago fines. I did found out with noticed they can do custom mixes. To get the 90/10 or 80/20, what is the best sand to use from the list about? Thank you
What can i do to thicken up my lawn? Its newly sown - on a newly developed secrion. The grass is very thin and wispy. Am in NZ, lawn seeded in March of this year.
Ben, can i ask what height you set the groomer to take out the under ground thatch -4 mm or something similar ? I'm keen to do it on a friend's qld blue with my 20" groomer.
Longest vid you’ve made in a while. Could’ve put irrigation over winter. I’d imagine that area would only be 2 zones possibly 1 not sure how many heads you can support on a zone with your setup
No matter how many times i kill the weeds in my front lawn, every year it is full of weeds, not many on my street look after their lawn though, any tips mate? its a couch buffalo bastard lawn lol

Man the lawn looks great at 0:21, I think I would've stopped there and called it a day
That was my ryegrass oversow. Needs a lot of water in summer!
How good is spring getting the lawn ready it’s such a satisfying process love it 😊
Just got my dominate this week put it out 2 days ago now just waiting for results 👌🏻
Yo Whaddup Mate! Welcome back to another lawn tip Reno 😂
Can’t wait to see the results!!
This is giving old school Lawn Tips vids vibes from the old house.
Just laid down Lohnro to kill off my Rye, i'll give it 2 weeks and then go full reno :)
I listened to this in my EarPods while I was doing my Reno 😅
Did I blink and miss the hand corer clip at the end 😄 Another great reno vid mate 👌
Didn’t turn up in time! I’ll show it next week 👌🏽
"Okaaaaay let's go!" 🤣
Best vid 😂
how good, literally about to shovel a cube of sand right now. Big day but totally worth it.
Good luck! Definitely worth it

How do i find this beautiful house on airbnb to book @emmasims5907
I bet work has been more easier with your brother around 😂 keep up the good work you legends 👍
That corer does a wicked job!

Nice tight pattern for the coring the best machine 👌
Must of been a tight spot saw the front wheels up for a bit.
So after spending like a thousand bucks, your lawn should look craker 💯👌🏻
nice one, would be interesting to see if you have a section to be baffelo and how you take care of them all year too.
We’ve scarified our couch lawn for the first time, just waiting for the heat to get it growing again, it looks so bare but hoping it will be ok

surely we can get some in ground irrigation out front!
Yo what up, ben
Just starting to plan out a brand new lawn for after a new home construction just wondering what would make for the best prep for the long term?
Will need to bring in top soil to level anything you recommend to do prior?
Do you give it a water the day/night before to reduce how much dust gets kicked up?
Hi
I’ve got a seeded perennial ryegrass lawn. If I overseed with kik will it work to convert? Or should I just spray out the ryegrass?
Hey mate, what headphones/earplugs are you using? Thanks for the vid! Awesome work
Was aiming for first today. Fourth isn’t too bad. We’ll done Ivan. I’ve been sitting with my coffee waiting for this to drop so my weekend can begin. 👌
Hey Ben nice work, my couch turf rolls seemed to arrive with a ton of thatch from the farm, would you ever do a first year Reno or too dangerous?
I’d just scalp it back once it’s rooted down 👌🏽
@@LawnTips thanks!
What type of irrigation or soaker hose do u use or recommend? Something about 15-20m long for turf?
Hey mate! Currently swapping over to your products from plant doctor. What liquid fertiliders do you recommend for EZ in SEQ?
Curator, seavival, enhanced etc? Cheers mate
They would be great mate! If you wanted a bundle similar, the enhanced lawn tips mix would also suit well. Thanks for the support!
Wicked. Thanks mate!

hey mate - can you use a whipper snipper to scalp if you can't get your hands on a mower that goes low enough?
How about Rye? How often do you do this with Rye? Also is it done in the spring or fall?
How do I identify if I have buffalo grass? And if I do have, how do I do a reno on it?
What are your thoughts on leaving the cores out?
Do an update video on your old lawn just to see what it looks like.
Might have a fun project coming up there 🤫
Nice work but it looks like a lot to have a nice looking lawn
How far do them sumi soakers throw
Ben, can i ask what height you set the groomer to take out the under ground thatch -4 mm or something similar ? I'm keen to do it on a friend's qld blue with my 20" groomer.
Would be around 7-10mm here. 4mm would be fine with qld blue 👌🏽
@@LawnTips thank you .
Can I get your products shipped to the US?
Just scalped my lawn and seen heaps of black beetles, I put acelepryn down like 8 weeks ago. Any idea what I should do?
I had the same problem...the Fortune Ultra killed the adult black beetles overnight. Give it a try
@EdwardKnight-82 thanks mate, and that won't damage the couch?
what height would you try to cut to if my lawn is a mixture of blue couch and buffalo.
I’d go around that 10-15mm
Do a test and take it lower if you think it can go down more. Just make sure you leave a bit of leaf there
le rowans does a rocket top dressing, is that suitable? it will be my first time top dressing. Or should I use sand
Do you need to top dress?

Definitely could have but had a few other things going on 👌🏽
So sprinkler heads would be a huge problem, getting in the way.
Just mark them out and go around them 👌🏽
Always love your lawn videos. But mate, your garden bed is well overdue for a reno as well. It's shabby and let's the lawn down.
Another job on the list of jobs I have planned 👌🏽
Gave it a big clean out a month ago, now it just needs some new plants
First

No matter how many times i kill the weeds in my front lawn, every year it is full of weeds, not many on my street look after their lawn though, any tips mate? its a couch buffalo bastard lawn lol
why not just play sand
What a waste of time, money, effort and more importantly... water.
Oh sorry mate, you’ve made me rethink my life and I’ll delete my channel
