I'm leaning towards the LG UltraGear 38GN950-B 38" (which is 3840x1600 so slightly better res as well).
Ya ips is still incredibly solid, just remember it's not only about resolution but PPI based on screen size, the 38 inch has a higher res but since it's bigger it has a bit less PPi than the 34 inch. Not big enough in this case to be an issue, but remember a 24 inch 1920x1080p will look much better than a 27 inch 1080p screen at desk level.

Tried the OLED Alienware monitor that has been praised so much and tbh, while in a fast game it may be great, but if youre playing slow pace games with alot of text and menus, the fringing gets really noticable, plus i had to switch off gsync else i'd have VRR flicker... To counteract some fringing i changed the windows font to some that is the least bad offender, but its still visable. I often catch myself squinting when i try to read stuff on that monitor... and honestly i consider returning it and go back to my LG 34GN850-B. Instead I'll wait until WUHD (w)oled get released, so that the sheer pixle density overpowers the fringing, and maybe windows also gets optimised for oled subpixles. IMO its still too early for OLED monitors yet.
Also realized text looks better when HDR is off too. It might be early for OLed but we will see a bunch more oled models coming out over the next few years.
I got a Samsung Q90 and after 18 months I had light bleed real bad at just the top of the vertical screen. I paid a lot for it and was very disappointed in Samsung. It was so noticeable in dark scenes. Got a LG C2 a few weeks ago and the difference is massive. I can never go back to LEDs now. The future I think does ultimately end in micro LEDs though. All the benefits of OLED but without the screen burn, which to give LG credit isn't really much of an issue now as long as you watch different content.
I feel like OLED also has a lot of upside, it hasn't reached its maturity and we should still see great advancements. We don't see as much burn in like with the original OLED screens when they launched, and companies are investing in panel refresh technology and other ways to ensure no burn in happens, it will only get better.

QD-OLED slightly brighter choices choices...
Tough choice but ultimately your debating between ulrawide aspect or standard aspect ratio. The way you wrote your comment you'd be happy with both. Is 120hz enough do you play games where you would need more? Do you enjoy your current ultrawide or would you be ok with a standard 16:9 monitor

I hear what your saying and I never thought of it giving you a disadvantage but I mean technically if the character is all black hiding in a corner it might be harder to spot but realistically they would have to be in full blacl and a completely dark corner I don't see it being an issue
I switched back to IPS. acer predator xb27 160hz 4k Never worry bout burn in, looks so damn close anyways. Unless your so into images they are minutely different for gaming.
I just set up the monitor yesterday, loving it so far but i wonder if you have any tips for cleaning it? As during set up i ended up getting som finger smudges on the screen and they have proven stubborn to wipe clean with the cloth it came with
Hey, ya its definitely annoying to have smudges, i have found a clean microfiber cloth that is slightly damp works well as long as you go over it after with another dry clean cloth, and don't go to hard with the damp one just lightly clean it
Could you maybe give me an update? I'm interested in the double DP connection, I use my Macbook for the productive part of the day and in the evening I usually play World of Warcraft or watch youtube videos on my PC, do you think it's suitable for me? or is the risk of burn-in too great? Thanks for the video otherwise, it actually encourages me more or less :)
Hi there are 2 DP and 1 HDMI so you can connect up to 3 different devices to the screen so no issues for you there. Add a kvm switch for your mouse and keyboard and you can easily switch between your Macbook and PC. I've had this for almost a year about 10 months I use it daily and have 0 sign of potential burn in yet. I play a variety of games so that helps but I do edit videos and will stay on the editing software for hours sometimes and still 0 burn in. I don't know if that answer will change in 6 months or 5 years but I hope that helps.
Excuse me, i just want to ask, how does the white color look on the OLED display ? because in 5:30 and 7:05 , the OLED white doesn't look as white as the Ips ( as good )
It all depends on how you feel with the 18dw I absolutely did not need to upgrade to the oled but it was definitely worth it. But it's also not a cheap upgrade.
@@RobsCorner so I received mine today aw3423dwf. I can’t say I’m impressed. Came with the newest firmware. Set it to hdr 1000. Enabled hdr in windows. And desktop looks very dull. Had to use amd color settings for more color. Yes blacks colors are tons better than aw18 but overall brightness is a step behind. Am I missing a setting? Once set to hdr 1000 what other settings can I change to make a difference?
I found the best settings for HDR to be the HDR true black instead of the HDR 1000 setting in the monitor, and you can always adjust brightness through your windows & GPU settings if needed, it takes some playing around with it to get it to where you want.
@@rafkiersnowski3746 no I did most of the settings throigh the nvidea control panel but I'm pretty sure the calibration tool should be more accurate. Also I notice when it comes to productivity work and text it's better to turn off hdr completely.
@@RobsCorner It's another term for the same thing, but still not applicable for the 3418DW, it's a single backlight unit and it doesn't dim according to content, it's always the same for the whole sreen.
Are there any 1080p oled monitors ? A lot to factor in including your pc specs, use case scenario budget etc. But I think the sweet spot is 1440p oled high refresh rate
i bought a qd oled monitor in hopes that when looking through a distant window at an enemy in say rainbow six siege. if the background is black and the enemy is peeking i will see the clear distinction between the black of the room and the silhouette of the player.
As yes as close as I can get them both were reset to the way they are calibrated out of the box. You can tweak it to get better colors and the settings on the camera, really makes the blacks very different between both monitors. Looks slightly exaggerated in the video but when they are side by side there is a major difference. Also the ips monitor was used a lot over 5 years and the oled is brand new in this video.
Main issues with TV is they are not made with user input in mind, they focus on the viewing experience for the general public but games require a human input, So monitors usually have better features and technology than TV's. But companies now are making bigger and better monitors that can easily replace TV's.
No need to rush if your happy with what you have oled or ips your gonna get the same framerate from that gpu just about colour accuracy and sharp visual...but not a cheap upgrade for sure
bro i have the AW3418DW been having it for 3-4 years now since i was like 13-14 ish, i use it for movies and games, the screen is really great sadly 120hz
yes, that's why was hard for me to decide which one i need (for everything) , probably will swap to gen2 OLED or gen1 when they get down in price. For movies, work and immersive gaming VA looks better for me (for less price). And that color accuracy isnt that big sometimes/tolerable. If i needed 2 screens i'd pick probably - 1ips 1VA, but for a single 34" need smth one. thanks for side to side comparison, most helpful vids.
Ok, some update from me..after 2.5 years of using different 34" VA panels + 24" old IPS. i had 2013 24" Samsung IPS- as a secondary monitor, for productivity tasks. Main was - 34" VA panel. I used this VA panel for 6 months, overall its good, but then i noticed that i enjoy this small old screen better specifically for Films, i did direct comparison, in some scenes with certain colours- was quite as a big difference in favour of 10 year old IPS. Sold last VA after using for 6 months. Now deciding between 42" WOLED or ..buying less expensive IPS + wall projector for media tasks(films, games).

Ips is fantastic for gaming I've been using it for years... and it also has similar limitations like dead pixels which can happen on any screen really. Yes there is a risk of burn in like I mentioned and some other points you brought up, and ips backlight bleed is also a big issue that can really ruin the picture especially in darker scenes, I can only speak for the unit I have I am not a big time reviewer that gets sent products to test, I went out and bought the monitor and compared it to my existing ips that I had. I have been using the Oled for about 5 months now and absolutely love it for games and movies, no issues with VRR, reflections etc... but depending on your use case, budget, environment it might not be the best option. All I can do is compare what I have and give my opinion. If ever in the future I run into issues I will put out an update.
@@RobsCorner thank you very much for replying. U are correct all paneos have problems and ips also... Dead pixels are more easy yo get on oled . I use oled panels for 12 years from first One tv and i love it. Yeah contrast is game changer .. and there are many positive things on Oled thats why i keep buying them. But they are far from perfect. For me these problems have never fixed.. the glossy panel is like mirror and reflect everything and what is the point of perfect blacks when u see reflection's? Its only good when there is no light at all. Your monitor has for sure glossy panel, but the ips one that i also have has matte panel with anti reflective coating. All monitors must have anti reflective coating. So my next problem was the brightness keep changing when i go to fullscreen bright window. And something else is the Brightness keep lowering after time. My panel was 3 years old on a LG c2 i never had burn in problems honestly i just had dead black pixels and they change panel... The new panel was way brighter... I asked and told me that oled is keep losing the brightness aftertime. And also the Heat omg at summer in front f oled panel is so hot... And i dont get it why no one doesnt say all these about oled panels? But they do on va or ips ? All say how much perfect oled are and that is not true.
@@Tripokaridos22 I never noticed the reflections to be bad but again I don't have any major lightsource behind me, it all depends on where you will have it placed. Never worry bout burn in, looks so damn close anyways.
Unless your so into images they are minutely different for gaming.
i use my OLED TV LG C9 over 7000h and 0 burnin. HEAVY usage, PC desktop, PC Gaming, Playstation 5 Gaming, Movies... UA-cam.....
Beautifull love to hear it, could be different from 1 panel to the next but thats great news, and makes me even more comfortable with my oled purchase
Lol same model no problems either, love this thing.
I don't know if that answer will change in 6 months or 5 years but I hope that helps.
it does, ty mate, and enjoy your device! :)
Excuse me, i just want to ask, how does the white color look on the OLED display ? because in 5:30 and 7:05 , the OLED white doesn't look as white as the Ips ( as good )
Might have been an hdr or camera issue cuz I just tested and all white screen and it looks extremely white,
@@RobsCorner thank you soo much for the reply, i was worried soo much about this point ❤️❤️❤️❤️
If I already have aw3418dw. Is it worth upgrading to aw3423dwf? Or a waste of money ?
@@RobsCorner did you do the windows calibration? If yes. What values did you set for dark snd light settings ?
@@rafkiersnowski3746 no I did most of the settings throigh the nvidea control panel but I'm pretty sure the calibration tool should be more accurate. Also I notice when it comes to productivity work and text it's better to turn off hdr completely.
Your IPS monitor doesn't have any backlight zones. Or more accurately, it has a single zone, if you want to say it that way.
Dimming zones might have been the more appropriate term.
@@RobsCorner It's another term for the same thing, but still not applicable for the 3418DW, it's a single backlight unit and it doesn't dim according to content, it's always the same for the whole sreen.
Great video!
Thank you, appreciate it!
My question is what's better ips 4k or 1080p oled?
Are there any 1080p oled monitors ? A lot to factor in including your pc specs, use case scenario budget etc. But I think the sweet spot is 1440p oled high refresh rate
@@RobsCorner yh there's a portable 1080p oled
@@RobsCorner but what do u think is better a 4k ips or a 1080p oled?
@CuriousGamer022 if the option is 4k ips or portable small 1080p oled I say 4k ips
@@RobsCorner OK thx 👍😊
i bought a qd oled monitor in hopes that when looking through a distant window at an enemy in say rainbow six siege. if the background is black and the enemy is peeking i will see the clear distinction between the black of the room and the silhouette of the player.
And does it help?
@@RobsCorner yeah its so nice.
just bought this monitor, but refurbished for half the price, let's hope i don't get insane amounts of burn in
Half price? Thats amazing even for refurbished
@@RobsCorner yeah, around 650 euros (new is more than 1k in italy) with 1 year warranty against burn in
@@Superdazzu2 solid price great deal enjoy!
Are these running in the same monitor settings
As yes as close as I can get them both were reset to the way they are calibrated out of the box. You can tweak it to get better colors and the settings on the camera, really makes the blacks very different between both monitors. Looks slightly exaggerated in the video but when they are side by side there is a major difference. Also the ips monitor was used a lot over 5 years and the oled is brand new in this video.
IPS + HDR= best solution. Oled glossy screen is bad for Shooting games
Or just get good, just kidding my screen is perfectly good for shooters enjoying it alot for fps
I’m playing Valorant on it and it’s the screen is perfect.
What mount do you use?
I'm using the HuaNuo dual monitor gas springs mount , 34 inch uktrawide on 1 arm and 27 inch on the other
OLED will turn u out & u will never look at life the same again.. I have been ruined ever since I got a taste of my first OLED last week 😢
Haha your not wrong I notice it everytime I watch TV
i hate gaming on monitors tbh, i prefer a TV even on PC
Main issues with TV is they are not made with user input in mind, they focus on the viewing experience for the general public but games require a human input, So monitors usually have better features and technology than TV's. But companies now are making bigger and better monitors that can easily replace TV's.
Burn in?
Nothing yet, I set it to do a pixel refresh everytime my monitor goes into standby. So far so good really happy with the Oled
i want an ips 1440*1440 curved monitor. which one is the best value and whata re some of the options? could you please help?
Not sure if you mean 1440p 144hz or just 3440x1440 ultrawide if your looking for 144hz for gaming I would look at the LG Ultragear lineup
How are you getting movies and video to play at 21:9 aspect?
It's a Chrome extension called Ultrawide video.
@@RobsCorner They cutout video from top bottom to fit screen , not the real solution but works.
@@MacwinsTV ya not perfect but you can choose different options to keep aspect ratio and not have it cropped
That's why I'm getting a flat panel oled. Ultrawides aren't widely supported yet. I dont want black bars while I'm watching something
Im having a hard time not updating😅 still love the ips but i think my 4070ti deserves better xF
No need to rush if your happy with what you have oled or ips your gonna get the same framerate from that gpu just about colour accuracy and sharp visual...but not a cheap upgrade for sure
@@RobsCorneri tried it out. My big issue was how bright it was compared. I have sensitive eyes so im sticking with the ips.
bro i have the AW3418DW been having it for 3-4 years now since i was like 13-14 ish, i use it for movies and games, the screen is really great sadly 120hz
It's still a great monitor, and 120hz is not nothing. Depending on the games you play get 120hz at 1440p ultra wide is amazing.
VA is better (than IPS )for immmersive games
For contrast I agree, for colour accuracy I'd still go ips
yes, that's why was hard for me to decide which one i need (for everything) , probably will swap to gen2 OLED or gen1 when they get down in price.
@@NorthSea-xb7jk ya its all about what works best for our use cases and budgets of course
I like the whales
Yea its cool to see with triple monitor when the swim all around haha
ciao complimenti sono molto indeciso alla Acquisto - monitor onled della rog striz asus 27 pollici o ips rog striz asus 32 pollici 4k uhd 160 mz oc - aiutami per il migliore in tutto.
Hi it's hard to say depending on the games you play or if you use it for movies. Either way I would suggest 1440p for anything 27 inch or more. Then you just need to decide between ultrawide or standard 16:9. 4k 160hz is very nice if your computer is strong enough

So far I'm loving it, no regrets
CRT still has the best picture quality.
Facts still remember playing cs1.6 on my hp pavillion monitor with speakers attached to the sides
Try to make a super SloMo video with your phone from your oled monitor. You can see flickering .(pwm) so bad for your eyes over time
Tried on both my OLED and IPS didn't notice and flickering, not sure any screen is considered "good" for your eyes, but I've been hearing the same stuff since I was 4, don't sit so close to the tv its bad for your eyes 30 years later no glasses and no issues.
Very little percentage of the people can have that problem
Always IPS for games why ??? 5:17 ...OLED Shadow crash look at the left, and because A) OLED Really Bad Reflections, OLED ABL , OLED Dead pixels after some time, Oled burn in risk , OLED low FPS stutter, OLED VRR problems ... AND MANY MANY more that Reviewers Dont say
I use oled panels for 12 years from first
One tv and i love it.
Also the heat comment is interesting maybe it's a tv issue because I checked mine last night and did not notice any significant heat. In fact I had more heat coming from my qled samsung tv than my oled monitor
Sorry to hear you had so many issues with OLED, I have a LG C2 and I don't have any of these issues maybe i'm lucky. Only thing I noticed that text is more blurry compared to IPS/VA which sometimes bothers me
@@Tripokaridos22Most oled gaming monitors have matte finish, this is glossy but there is many oled monitors with matte finish, i dont think refrections should be a problem.
