Good job! Since all the rooms are circular, perhaps the passages should have ended with a gentle concave-curved surface, instead of straight edges.
I was THIS CLOSE to actually doing that, but then I realized they'd look strange whenever I connect a hallway-to-hallway. And decided that this was the lesser of two evils.
lindyyyy what are you doing here
@@WylochsArmory One end straight, other end concave? How often would the passages be more than two units long?
@@lindybeige True enough, true enough. Maybe I should just built doors with a 1" base to sit on top of the seams.
I don’t know if I should be more flabbergasted at Wylochs work or the fact Lindybeige! visited!! Are we in for a demonstration of Lindyhop or a battle breakdown?
Wyloch just casually reminding us all why he's a legend in the community.
Aw shucks
That Elder Brain room is soooo good. Didn't even realize the brain was 3D printed at first.
The warning at the start made me more nervous than the actual animation.
Yeah that's good. I figure there might be a few people out there who like...might have claustrophobia or...just in general not like tension.
@@WylochsArmory it’s good that you included it just in case wyloch.
@@WylochsArmory That was thoughtful of you. I guess Kevin MacLeod is such a legendary composer, his tension-building music needs a warning.
Man, the blue and pink/purple color scheme is so eye catching and pleasing; the way that it softly blends is spooky good. Amazing work.
This is basically what I pictured in the book "Exile " (book 2 in the Dark elf trilogy by R.A .Salvatore) when Drizzt is captured by the Illithids and finally breaks free and destroys the "Hivemind" this is stunning.
That intro was amazing. Got me really pumped up!! And the rest....an absolute masterpiece. I am inspired. I found it really engaging to hear the lore as you went through. I think my favourite room was the plaza with the terraced pools. This whole set has such a great sense of cohesion and atmosphere with so many interesting details. You have outdone yourself! 11/10
Thanks man. And some of these rooms like the rotunda or the birthing pods are totally usable as scatter terrain in a 40k chaos type world.
There is a direct line from UA-cam randomly recommending your videos to me ages ago, to watching Critical Role, to me DMing my first DnD game this Saturday.
And for that, I thank you. Now to watch this. Which I know will be awesome.
This lair looks so cool! Never actually seen a mindflayer lair outside of the book pictures
How do I like this video more? Its so perfect. ITS JUST SO PERFECT.
I'm envious of your ability to incorporate lighting into your builds. That said, I probably would've used rounder, more organic stones for the floors and give 'em a coat of gloss to emphasis the dampness of the place. I'd also get rid of the wall blocks in the captive pit entirely. I can already hear the players trying to argue that they can just easily climb out.
That eating theater though... It's one thing to know that you're going to die for other's entertainment fighting in a gladiatorial match. It's another thing to know that you're nothing more than cattle to be slaughtered and eaten. But knowing that you'll be eaten alive in front of an audience as a piece of performance art is on a whole other level and perfectly encapsulates just how alien, both physically and morally, the mind flayers really are.
The one that really made me think was the eating theater--brilliant concept and fantastic, grisly, tone-setting execution.
No better way to start the day than with a new Wyloch video. Can't wait to see how the brain came out!
This is one of the coolest craft + lore videos ive ever seen, really some next level stuff! Not only does it give some immersive backround info for building, it gives ideas on how to roleplay/ story-tell in the areas themself.
This is my favorite crafting video period. We're shown how to make and compose the set pieces, the voice over is on point, the editing is smooth, AND we learn about the lore. Please sir, continue.
I've watched all of your vids and I think this is one of your best! The lore and narration were so engaging! Great format for us crafters that already know the basics. Keep it up!
Secondeded!
U cant imagine how my whole family enjoyed watching u reading and building. An honest thank u for that awesome 20 minutes
Dude, I'm so excited to have you back and moreso that you're enjoying yourself! Getting into 40k narrative lately. Keep inspiring
You have reached the pinnacle of my ideal craft. Easy to make, thematic, creative use of inexpensive items, modularity, and easy to play on and see the areas for players sitting at a table....Bravo my friend.
I've recently acquired The Illithiad, a AD&D source book. Its absolutely invaluable for the dm who wants to run a mind flayer campaign.
These builds are so inspiring for me, and I'll definitely be using these ideas in my Illithid campaign. Thanks for all your hard work.
The Illithiad is required reading for anyone with even just a passing interest in Mind Flayer lore - absolutely brilliant book and highly recommended
This is easily in my top 10 favorite builds you've done. The Laboratory is my favorite room. Very well constructed my friend. I love how lore is being presented while the construction is going on in the video.
You have legitimately crafted the greatest Underdark terrain in the game.
OK, this has to be among my favorites of yours, the mix of the intro, the lore and the craft itself was fantastic!
Also, I get the feeling that those guys are not good people...
Wow, this is one of the most impressive scratch builds iv ever seen for D&D. Absolutely awesome video.
Holy crap Wyloch - You've knocked it right out of the park with this one!
Absolutely awesome build (And now I'm going to have to make one :) )
Oh man. That was amazing. Loved the lore mixed with crafting.
I have no idea what he's talking about but I watched the entire video and love the terrain 😂
Beautiful job!
This is one step beyond, Wyloch. Fantastic!
It never ceases to amaze me, how amazing your terrain looks with sometimes the simplest techniques. The birthing pods are as good a "pond" tutorial as you could ask and made of a whopping two materials. Nice!
This combination of crafting inspiration by showcasing great stuff and how you make it on the one hand and insight into lore and lair functions is amazing, especially for a non-D&D RPG player like me!Many, many thanks and love to see more of such videos. Its a new entertaining and most potent weapon in your Armory. Wyloch!
Wow! I am very impressed! Fantastic job ! I am glad to see you are back!
I started out watching and subscribing to a number of tabletop crafting channels but as time went on, I began to recognize my favorites as well as the ones that I gradually lost interest in. Now I watch one channel, Wyloch's channel. And I do so because of quality content like this. Seriously, great job man. The way you laid out the mind flayer colony, both physically and descriptively was flawless. Keep it up!
You have done some remarkable and imaginative projects. For me, this is in your top 3. Not all because of the build, but the format. The explaining, the lore...almost like story telling. REALLY enjoyed this Wyloch! More like this...
My husband and I watch all of your videos. Really glad to see you're back. The break definitely did you good, you look so healthy!
Hope you're doing well and back for a while. Really enjoyed the lore talk over the build. Makes a nice change I'd love to watch more like it.
Wow, just wow amazing, organic shapes that are modular are difficult to pull off. Home run 10/10
A really awesome video. I loved the narration. I haven't played D&D for about 35 or so years, but I love to see the current way people are using mini's and terrain. Probably would have made the game more fun back then had we done that. Your theme of the Mind Flayers brings back many memories as well. I do remember occasionally coming across one. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and inspiring our creativity.
Super craft and video format...liked the lore narration. Happy to see you back.
I love this style of video! Some great background lore on the whole dungeon and its functions. Great to listen to while watching how you made it! Absolutely would be down for more of these kind of videos
I love the way you intermix the storytelling with the crafting. This was very enjoyable.
I really enjoy this format! I would love to see more stuff like this. It's great because you show enough of the process that I can get how you made it all. Great job!
I really enjoy getting to hear the lore specific to each room's aspect of the Lair! Wonderful video!
Love your new format. Listening to the lore is really inspiring not only for modeling but also game making.
This made me so happy! It was your underdark terrain video that got me started in crafting and equally loved this!
I really loved this. The build and the lore narration. You may not agree, but this is what peak craft performance looks like.
You did such an amazing paint job on this one, and I looooove also the texturing of those walls!
Super pretty build! Congrats!
Hi Wyloch! I really liked this video and the different approach. Showing how you built and then placed the set up for the game, while narrating the lore... excellent! I don't know how much work this made you do, but I hope there are more videos like this in the future. Well done!!
That intro was awesome! I'm so blizzard to see you back making videos. I'm just starting to work on my underdark terrain set, so I'm glad to see your newest setting.
This is amazing. I’m so glad you got out of that rut a while back and can now do amazing stuff like this. You’re a legend.
This was amazing! One of the best videos I've seen in regards to building terrain for a D&D campaign!
So glad to see you back at Bill! Looks like you just needed a slight hiatus to Rejuvenate your crafting greatness. Love the colors, in the pure creativeness you’ve come up with for your storytelling .
Amazing as always. Keep up the good work, I'm here whenever you feel like sharing!
IMHO, The pool in the center of that temple is especially great.
this was wicked! your narration was fantastically haunting as well. great video!
Awesome pieces of terrain as usual 👍
I was pleasantly surprised by this video because I usually watch crafting videos to gain some more knowledge about techniques to improve my craft but with this one I liked the narrative and lore of the mind flayers. I wouldn’t mind having more of your videos be like this one in the future.
Great video! Live the lore concept! It added a unique experience with fantastic video production quality
This is a great format! Adding the lore to a great crafting video is an inspired idea! It improves the lore and crafting sides both! Keep this format! Its the best ive seen!
That paved floor is amazing ! I also love the lore explanations !
This video was great! I really enjoyed the lore as you showed footage of yourself building.
Wonderful. So glad to have you back creating such treasures.
Me encantan estas descripciones ambientales. Genial que estés de regreso. Saludos
That's just perfect. Keep being awesome, man. It's good to have you back!

To add extra horrors lol, there is a non fragrance incense cone you can buy, comes in a pack, in the place where piranhas love according to Finding Nemo, lol (I'm a piranha I live in the Amazon)
That lit in the center would send fog down especially if you carved a path or bowl lip to each well. But beautiful job and very good effect by painting it.
ALSO, I AM NEW TO DND and I love binge-watching your videos, I'm catching up as I'm also a new subscriber and I thumbs up ever video I watch! I absolutely love the Lore as you build, and if there are builds you have but haven't down lore to them I'd love it if you got those out and showed them off too with a store of the lore.
I love the fact you are a lot like me, granted you have to be creative and think out of the box my kind of thinking btw, but I absolutely agree and love your work, you can, we can, have really cool table top game boards without blowing the bank. My daughter and I have just started to get into DnD, both of us love crafts and creative work, I had always wanted to play but growing up never knew anyone who did. Course being raised Christian, parents were against buying it, lol, but as I have told my kids, as I am a real Christian, that's someone who doesn't throw sin and the Bible in your face and tell you your going to hell, those people absolutely upset me. No, it's okay to have an open mind and keep your faith. My God isn't stupid, he knows I'm playing a game and that I'm not seriously trying to speak to the dead for example. To my other Christians out there, get a grip, unless you are so weak in your faith, but yeah, not sure how I got onto that but, anyway thanks 👍❤️.
What a great episode! So good to have you back :)
So refreshing and enjoyable to view Wyloch videos. They are spurred by his passion for crafting and are not driven or controlled by sponsors or finance. Thank you!
Haha.....um......sssssoooooo......be advised I am doing a product review in a couple weeks.....but it is still just a rare exception, not the norm!
@@WylochsArmory lol. No worries. Your integrity remains intact.
Wow! Excellent format and lore. Thanks for a fabulous video!
Great work sir. The themed edging with the teal coloured hot glue and plastic fork tines are a really nice touch. I love that you didn't feel forced into adding a grid to these pieces either, certainly adds to the aesthetic.
I love this, happy you're making regular content again!
So happy you are back :D I also really like this style of video. Lore voice overs with something interesting to watch and learn from. Theres plenty of tutorials out there but this is something I haven't seen before.
Man I love this. I have a friend that is not long for this world and this fantastic setup has formed the basis for one of the set pieces I am doing for his dnd sessions. I'm loving making it and I can't wait to populate it with a one shot of glorious encounters. Thank you very much for your inspiring ideas.
On the very small chance that you're located nearby, you could borrow mine. East coast US? If so, PM me through facebook.
by far your best vod... And that is saying A LOT!!!! Well done.
Love this format with narration!
wow, this is an impressive amount of work for just one gaming session.
HOOOOOOLLY SMOKES! i found you on reddit, and dang this is so cool! the use of LED's as well as the color scheme is quite inspiring!
that's awesome, thanks
dude, it's soooooo good. live the combination of crafting and lore ASMR. so glad you're back
My players would not likely survive this dungeon, but I would happily try this as a one-shot. Inspired and ready to build! Thanks Wyloch.
Yes, yes, yes! I loved the video's format, the lore reading was great and the build was fantastic! Thank you!
This is awesome, I love the terrain, keep the amazing videos coming.
I love the color choices! Very bright but alien. Very interesting terrain!
Oh my goodness this was such a joy to watch. Really really loved it.
This rejuvenated Wyloch is throwing out some new awesome stuff. #mindblown Great Job man. Never cease to amaze and inspire
Awesome stuff man :) Definitely some of your best work.
Love how you add lore to already an epic build
That was an amazing video. Loved the lore! Thank you Wyloch.
Glad to see you back at it!
I love this new format, great job!
Wow Bill, you have out done yourself. Looks fantastic. Your players will love it!
Woaw. The music at the start (when you start talking face cam) really hit me hard. Because Critical Role used this music for the character intro during their first campaing, and the first campaing also started in the underdark, towards a mindflayer city.
So yeah, everything there transported me back in there. Nice effect :)
Its good to see you back dude, was happy to see your video notification lol
This is super cool. The elder brain, while seemingly quick to make is a great build (nice touch with the lights). Also a big fan of the resin work in the various rooms...really brings out the alienness of the mind flayer city.
Simply great. Maybe my favorite of your videos yet!
Amazing work as always my friend.
Ive always really enjoyed the colours of your underdark terrain!
I wish I lived next door to this guy and joined his games. thanks for doing what you do, so entertaining
Dude, I'm only half way through this video and I have made a list of 10 different things I want to make! The content on this video alone will keep me occupied for a month. Wicked techniques and super cool doo-dads that I want to try of my own.
Thank you Wyloch.
Be sure to share pictures on TCG
I very much enjoyed this. I don't often make use of the Underdark or mindflayers, but I have in the past. This was a great take on their architecture and aesthetic.
This video showcases why you are one of the crafting OGs. Well done.
I love how the shot used to show the scope of the dungeon looks like a map right our of the old Baldur's Gate series. Hit a lovely bit of nostalgia while getting to see your awesome work on one of my favorite monsters. Oh, and that model converted from the Eldar warlock was slick! Going to have to dig through the bits box to see if I have the pieces to do one of my own.
That was exactly the idea. (Re Baldurs Gate....the greatest video game of all time)
this is freaking beautiful. makes me wonder what your take on a drow city structure or modular terrain would be like.
Damn you beat me to it - I was also going to suggest a Drow project too. I guess everybody loves the Underdark :)
Loved the opening! Well done!!!
