You are like the Mr. Rogers of TTRPG Crafting. You just have a great way of relating and making people feel more comfortable in their own capabilities.
I regularly revisit the original video that prequels this because the lore of your campaign always sounded so interesting plus I enjoyed the terrain walkthrough
As soon as you mentioned "The Menu" and the cheeseburger, I had distinct feeling where you were headed. Didn't know that it would be DMS's tiles, but I knew we weren't going to be seeing anything that came off a 3D printer. Whether they're inspired by OG terrain creation, painting, modeling, or maybe even starting up an OSR campaign after years (decades even!) of new RPG overload, the back to the basics smiles from many of us remembering where we started are pretty special.
The Menu! OMG, someone else who enjoyed this twisted movie for the very reasons you mention AND for explaining why you personally connected. Thanks for sharing. Your channel is amazingly cozy and comforting.
The original 2.5 D tiles are definitely a good go to for a project. While you build out that initial dungeon to the exact specifications to the adventure, it is great to be able to reuse the rooms and hallways.
I was disappointed I missed chatting with you at Mythic Con, but I did see your Baldur's Gate table, all I can say is; WOW! Your Baldur's Gate was fantastic, unless you see it in person folks, you cannot get how special it is. Wyloch you are a spectacular craftsman, well done! Thank you sir! Thanks for sharing this video, a nice departure.
I would not be where I am in crafting if it weren’t for your videos. I now build more three dimensional builds than when I started but I found all the other “mainstream dungeons and dragons crafting UA-cam’s” (aside from yours) too intimidating to start. These 2.5D builds were what helped me get my family into playing D&D for a weekly game night. I now find the other channels less intimidating, but were it not for your videos, I would not have found my real passion for terrain and the lovely group on Facebook where I can share my enthusiasm and get constructive criticism to improve my skills. This is a really long way of saying thank you for making the beginner friendly content and showing everyone that it doesn’t take a shelf full of pre-bought terrain and miniatures to have a great time with the game and the hobby. You do great work in more ways than just the quality, my friend.
Yes indeed. I'm an artist for a toy line and do mostly Pro-work but a few weeks ago I busted out some anime versions of my old characters and it was so much fun drawing those crude things haha. These vids are always fun. I kinda wish every channel would do walk throughs. Every now and again its cool to hear and see some of the campaign.
That was a joy and great anecdote. That's always what I appreciate about your builds. The techniques and materials always feel very homey and nostalgic. The little cryx jacks got an additional pop out of me.
Wow, what a pleasant surprise! I was binge watching your old clips, like I do most nights, and saw this one. Im like, this thumbnail is one ive never seen.... Lol.
That is a very nice series. I’ll have to look back, I can’t believe I missed it. Nothing wrong with the basics. I always mix both, 3D design, print, then classic materials from way long gone days. The movie was interesting.
Been printing lots of True Tiles for our group's campaign. I wish there were more to buy to be honest. The crafting stuff is cool, but as busy as I am, having the 3d printer running while I'm working and then getting our DM to paint the prints is way more practical for me at my stage of life.
I don't really play RPGs anymore and was more of a "Theater of the Mind" guy back in the day but I think these kind of cheap and cheerful 2.5D setups make more sense than something elaborate. You don't have limit your imagination to the tiles you already have because it's quick enough to build something new. They weight nothing compared to dental plaster and your friends don't have to feel bad if they ruin a tile by spilling their soda.
FYI -- Volume of the Fireball is 33000 cuft .. so assuming the grid is 5x5 with a ceiling height of 10' that would be 132 grid square -- no rules fugding necessary .
I think I will do this Wylock. I have been thinking about trying to get back into this for a couple of days and I am still stumped by prototyping a modular terrain system I like and after a nearly half a decade of failing to do that I think I should just do this
I’m happy you’re back and took your time with burnout! That’s great advice! Also, this campaign you’re running sounds awesome dude! I really like the idea of magic negating monsters that can be both a severe detriment or a great boon for the mission. It also rewards players to run around the map and interact with stuff during combat, while adding tension! Just amazing work!
A solid adamantine block is a pretty good piece of loot. Use stone shape to get it out of the wall, then just gotta figure out a way to get it back to town :)
I in fact didn't enjoy the menu, it's up there in the aesthetic department and the food did look really good, but the shift in tone midway threw me off, it was like they started with the energy of "get out" but abandoned later. If you enjoyed it, I can see why, for me it was missing something by the end.

Thanks but are you aware of the channel "thedmscraft" ? HE'S the real Mr. Rogers.
my boyfriend just hollared "NEW WYLOCH!!!" he was so excited for this lol
That was so me, startled my cat.
Me too!
Same. I watched it on break because I couldn't wait.
Awesome. I keep telling people to watch The Menu. It's a freakin masterpiece; and your takeaway is one of the reasons why.
Happy to see you back, Wyloch!
I had a similar reaction to the menu. It really is a beautiful and wholesome work of horror.
My girlfriend and I watch the Menu months ago really good movie, and always great to see you back in the forge @Wylock

Clip-on features are a monumental addition to the wonderfully versatile 2.5D concept. Bravo! -Chris AKA Li’l C

The burnout can be real… I really appreciate the message here. Great video!

I really like the color and texture on the tiles.

Awesome dungeon! I especially like the spider hallway.

Nostalgia overload ❤❤❤ I'm going to craft the whole Baldurs gate city just because. Great video 😂❤
Right on! Glad to see you on UA-cam again! Cheers!
The oldschool look NEVER gets old.

Nice, self-contained scenario with weight behind it. And, as always, the crafting is top-notch. =^[.]^=

it is impossible to find a good online 5e game that I gave up they always crash for one reason or another
Dude...
first! love your content! never disappoints 💪 i’ve watched like all of the vids so im glad to see it come together :)🎉
Really bummed to see the AI art. Those companies are knowingly stealing from the very artists who helped create the worlds we love.
The upcoming published module will use zero AI art. This was just placeholder.
I'm still not first.
