Awesome, I actually think the pink spots gives a nice variation on the overall space, since they stay scarce, but they do break the uniformity of the whole set in a nice way. Always love your tutorials, I remember my first major work as a crafter were over 64 Wyloch tiles, but I backed them with magnets back then to be set on a large metal sheet set on the gametable, you hadn't invented the intelocking system yet...But since you've come up with the interlock system I've wanted to upgrade my old tiles to the new system. For caverns and underdark I usually go with modular walls set on top of some kind of battlemat since I play gridless but I still find tiles very useful for corridors or dungeons. I'll upgrade my old tiles as soon as I get a little fee time...thanks for the tutorial!
Love how you ONLY did '17' tries on your paint job and still couldn't resist one more... As always fantastic video. Thank you for all the considerable effort you put into developing your building systems!

I think that the purple/magenta dabs add a little bit of fairy tale feel. like some kind of magic grotto where dangerous archfeys would dwell. I would experiment with various colours to see the effect!
Very well thought out. You actually covered my questions from the locking tabs video in this one. I would absolutely LOVE to see what this would look like with a handful of fluorescent black lights in the room and minimal white light. I think your custom tiles would be positively breathtaking. ..and I think you'd fall in love with that fluorescent pink. ;) You might give some tips in a future vid for making crevasses, trellis's, bridges and etc, :) I was thinking that an occasional round (oval) hole or wall in the flooring, as well as an occasional collapsed wall / rubble might add some character.
Thank you so much!! Starting my first DnD and been going though so many different videos on how to do custom tiles and yours is by far the best and most unique way ive see I love it!
Always a pleasure to see a new Wyloch video. Classy stuff, good color combination. And on-camera, the purple kind of punctuated the look. I don't think it was that busy. Good looking tiles, here.
Good to see more solid terrain magic coming out. The tiles proper are solid and what I'd expect as is the high quality of the video and explanation. The surprize is the paint scheme, which is quite different than usual and is spectacular. Well done!
I love the variant take on your cave system. The torn cork squares make a big style difference. Already thinking about how to simulate that look in sculpture for 3D printing. And for what my opinion is worth, the color choices in this rock. The pink splashes add just the right touch of weird phosphorescence variation.
The pink looks fine once it's spread out over a few tiles. I think you got the balance just right in the end. Green as you say, would have overwhelmed it - but green on your scatter would work. Great looking set of tiles!
Super job Bill and the short walls make the game much more visual. I don't even mind not having any wall at times if the players understand it's "implied." Love the effects you create and awesome job!
Excellent video, I decided to try and make some. Two days later and I have 64 tiles. Like you said, mostly corners, some walls, and only a few field tiles. Thank you.
Great video, and amazing tiles. I loved the bright pink/purple color. Also love the use of the pasts the way you did. Can't wait for the scatter terrain video
With this video: I discovered you, the 1.25" grid system, the WyLock (Cardboardlock) system, and finally decided it's time to make some terrain. This was a great video!
@@YouSunkMyFishy It's a mix. If you don't care about the interlocking, save yourself a lot of time and effort, just use double corrugated for the tile's foundation, and cover up the corrugation with thin cardstock.
@@WylochsArmory The interlocking feature is something about the system that interests me the most, but what I really wonder is: Is there a reason to not replace the cardboard with chipboard - effectively using an entirely chipboard base? Luckily for me, I have a whole table of volunteers who are excited to help me make the bases, because they're as interested in this upgrade as I am. Time is no concern for me.
Another gem of a video - thankyou! oh and you made me laugh for the first time ever too! bonus feature! LOL - cant wait to try this out and very much looking forward to the scatter terrain tutorial already (im already searching the kitchen cupboards for dry pasta tubes!)
Learned so much from watching you. I went rouge used rustoleum gray primer (like a dumb ass) and melted down the top layer in a few parts on top of this decaying castle that leads into a sewer I've been working on. I've used testors paint for now. I like testors silver paint. So for the piping system I used toilet paper tubes cut them, widened them out a little bit amp painted them silver. Looks like a decent pipe for a sewer. I added a mixture of orange, red, a drop of gold paint and gravel dust in sposts for a rust effect. Looks nice.
I've always been a little against the interlocking tile system and the short walls don't really do it for me. But damn this video has convinced me that I need to do it! 👍👌 Great vid
Yeah the interlocking is not needed, tiles shifting really is not a problem like folks make it out to be. But I figured Id include it. As for short walls, well....superior in most every regard. :-D. *gauntlet*
Wyloch's Armory I'll be running a homebrew Mindflayer Dungeon near an entrance to Northdark soon, so this will be perfect! Normally in other videos the walls just resemble a ledge, but in this video they really make me think of cavern walls, might even be ledges too 😂 I like to imagine there's multi-level pathways bridging pillars of stone in the depths of Underdark. Can't wait to see you do that scatter terrain, good job!
Fantastic! Thinking the purple is needed. However it does come across as pink on my screen... could be me. Still looks fantastic. Enjoy the adventure and thanks for adding to mine.
Love your videos, been watching them for a while now. I recently got back into playing D&D and am itching to make some tile sets for my group. Did you do a video about your tile storage trays?
Great Tiles! I know you don't normally do campaign diary videos, but, I for one would be curious to hear how your OotA game is going as you proceed. Just a thought ... :-)
Have you ever tried caulking(they sell all sorts and colors) in place of the hot glue on the cave walls? Feel it would give you more time to adjust or correct any part that didnt pan out well
I love the modular tiles, especially the underdark. I have been reading the Salvatore novels for many years. I'm wondering if it possible to use the cork when making regular straight walls and 90 corners? I like the look of the cork better than the 1 1/8 on top of 1 1/4 from your original crafting EPs. Is it possible to make the straight calls without cutting the tiles to fit in the remaining space? Maybe 1" square cork would leave room for the walls on the edges?
Great video! Why did you cut the wall back so it wasn't flush with the edge? It sounded like there was a good [unstated] reason, but when you put them all together, it seemed to just leave gaps in the walls.
It's because of the hot glue filling in. If you make it flush, the hot glue filling in that corrugation would bulge out and result in tile separation. Perhaps I took off a little too much sometimes, resulting in the occasional gaps you mentioned.
These turned out looking really good, but something I have done in the past for cave tiles is to not change the base-shape of a tile. This allows you to use the the "outside" of a corner to bulge into a room instead of out if you'd like. This also lets you have more chambers in a smaller table-area by having two of them share the wall. The pink/blue reminds me of the "bi lighting" trend that's popped up in youtube videos.
I would base the entire thing in white, and then base the entire thing in a deep scarlet red (red on top of white performs much better). Then do heavy drybrushing with a dark gray, build up and up until happy with it.
Almost has a DMG inspiration feel to it but has DM scotty overtones. But chipboard to link the projects... That is a new one but love the results versus double cardboard or corkboard all around.
These look so good. I wonder - if you substituted bright red and orange and yellow for light blue, would the same approach work for somewhere volcanic or infernal? (Might be good to make the main surface of each tile near-black, too, and paint the base layer in the lava colours as well as the tile edges). This just in - somebody's done it and posted on reddit! (Link doesn't come through well - try searching Wyloch lava tiles reddit.)
