I initially had issues with the results of this after installing it on my TD27kv2 (the sounds were all messed up even after following their instructions). I contacted drumtec and they spent many hours investigating and trying to force the same issues on their kv2 modules (but couldnt find any fault with their programmes). They then rang me and happily spent 45 minutes on the phone talking through it and we finally got mine working. Turned out to be a glitch with the module or memory card we think, as the only two things that changed were remove and reinstall the memory card and also a module reset, and then installed again and all worked fine. An issie they had never come accross before. Amazing support from Drumtec. I went from being pretty frustrated to being extremely happy with their service and would highly recommend them. Special thank you to Marcus too who was the technician who spent many hours investigating (he had fully immersed himself in trying to work out what could have happened) and rang me about it, very nice guy, patient and really helpful.

Unbelievable playing and another beautifully produced demo. Do you guys prefer the Roland PD-140DS to everything else? What is THE "best" electronic/digital snare/pad on the market today?
Thank you very much! In the end it depends on your individual preference of features and rebound/playing feel, if you decide to go for the PD-140DS or a 14" drum-tec pro series snare for example. I've made a little comparison a while ago:

The PD-140DS has the greatest variety of snare articulations, and you can put your hand on the head while playing cross stick. On the other hand, this results in a rather "dead" rebound & playing feel (like a very muffled acoustic head), while other mesh pads feel more "alive/open", especially when using the drum-tec Real Feel heads.

I purchased the "Real Acoustics Sound Edition" for my TD-27 a couple of days ago. FANTASTIC!! What an A1 addition to the stock kits that come on the TD-27! Thank you drumtec for that assortment! Now... would you be willing to do a new pack for Jazz and Blues? That would be very much appreciated!

So, I just bought a TD27. I own the TD17, and all of the Drum Tec downloads for it, and they are pretty great.
I gotta say. I’m not too thrilled with the available 27 pack sounds...at least, not from what I hear here. I actually think the sounds from the free upgrade, or whatever it’s called, that you can’t purchase, sound 100 times better. Please, guys. Make that available to buy!!! I bought the 27 knowing I was gonna buy Drum Tec packs, but figured they were either just as good as the ones for the 17, or better...
Idk...I guess I’ll have to just buy them, load them, and see.
And, Ralf makes me wanna quit playing, he’s so damn good!

Just wanna clarify...these sound good, but, the ones for the TD17 are less, uh, esoteric? I guess it depends on your application..I’m gonna use these to play The Cure, Psych Furs, U2, Simple Minds, and stuff like that, in a new wave/80s tribute. These seem a little “light weight” for that, as opposed to the kits in the 17 packs, which have some seriously effected and thick sounding kits...🤷🏼♂️
Do I have to do any settings on the TD-27 sound module in order to use this pack? I hope it is as simple as download and just play. Thanks

I made the mistake of buying the Roland VAD-506. Nothing but trouble since. Back to Roland twice in six months for repairs due to a faulty module. Still waiting to get it back.

Just comparing the Real Acoustic Sound Editions for the TD-17, TD-27 and TD-50 on my studio monitors. Seems like the 17 and 50 sound pretty good, but most of the 27 snares have a boxy, wet paper bag sound to them. What's up with that?
The TD-27 actually sounds somewhat different from Td-17 & TD-50X, although all 3 modules share some basic stock samples. In the end it's a matter of individual taste & needs especially when it comes to choosing the right module. The TD-27 has a great feature pack (digital pads compatibility, positional sensing etc), but if you prefer the sounds of another module it makes sense to consider one of those, if you mainly want to use onboard sounds for playing. Really loving the sounds, how do these kits work if you've got extra pads and cymbals added to the module? Are there extra sounds available to fill the extra triggers?
Hey Luke, as far as I remember the kits are prepared for 4 toms and 3 or 4 cymbals (you might get in touch through service@drum-tec.de to make sure). The remaining channels will also have pre-assigned sounds. You can always change/edit all of those to your individual preference. Kind regards!

Hi, the drum-tec Jam, diabolo or pro series pads with drum-tec design or Real Feel heads are not louder than any other mesh pad by Roland or ATV. The drum-tec real Feel bass drums are actually more silent than any other bass drum pad:

Thank you very much! The TD-25 has the "older" sounds that also the TD-30 had, while TD-27 is the TD-50s "smaller brother", sharing its sounds/samples. TD-30 and TD-50 sound very different, so do TD-25 and TD-27 :) Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV I agree. I feel like running the two together to use the best of both and expand the kit. My 27 seems to lack in the hi hat sound comparing to the 25. Some of the snare sounds you have developed for both are wonderful.
Hi, sounds great. Quick question - is this downloadable package basically a collection of kits created entirely from skilled editing of the existing Roland TD-27 editable parameters? (which is fine and value-adding). If I purchase and load them up, then go into editing, will I see the existing instrument choices and editable settings that you have curated for each kit? Have you added any additional product eg extra samples? Thanks!
Hey Robert, it's both actually :) several kits also contain audio samples, that are being used for layering with the module sounds. You can go into any of the kits & apply individual modifications if you like. Kind regards!

Any plans for drum-tec to start using edge-mounted triggers as an option? I switched from center mounted cones to edge mounted triggers (internals) about a year ago and it was a massive relief to be rid of the annoying hot spots that plaque roland, drum-tec and the like. For me sacrificing positional sensing for this was a no-brainer. As always, fantastic playing though!

Please, forgive me for the very noob question (I'm just starting with the e-drums), but many presented kits sound somewhat similar to each other, with very subtle changes.

I think that is the intention. Just like acoustic drums that you can chance little things to get the sound you want. In my opinion, the best part of e drums is creating your own kits. You can chance the tune, decay, reverb... To get to your favorite sound

Still confuses me why electric drums want to sound so much like real acoustic drums. I had a TD25kv for a few years. I have a Nord Drum now. Personally I find Nord Drum is so much more fun and more useful to me than the Rolands ever were. I'd like to see a push for more Synth engines and less sample based modules.
A lot of us play electronic drums out of necessity due to size and noise constraints. I'm not really interested in synth sounds - I just want to play the drums without my neighbors hating me.
So, the easy answer is either program your own sounds, or, load your own samples. I do think Alesis modules are more synthetic sounding, and include more “electronic” types of sounds, than Roland does, but, you can just load in whatever you might need..that’s what I do.
Sample things, and just stick em on an SD card, and there you go..
Sounds really good! Amazing playing! however, I wish that the dude would play a simple tom roll on every kit he presents. In my impression he is avoiding that on purpose, as the toms machine gun in nearly every current electric drumset. Single hits are fine, and the snare is modelled with high enough precision, but even a simple swell on a low tom won't work. Or maybe I'm mistaken?

Well, no...I’ve got a 17 and a 27, and there is no machine gunning with any of the sounds.
You gotta be willing to put some time into programming these things too. If you use samples, you gotta make them one hit polys..that pretty much fixes any of that kind of thing...

I have the Roland 506 kit with the TD 27. In my opinion there are only a few kits that are actualy useable, that was after a great deal of tweeking and re eqing. Now I have the one kit that sounds brilliant and that will be the only one I need, just like haveing a real acoustic kit. All the I have to say very silly sounds that are the majority of the kits that will never get used are just a waste of space. The rock kit for instance, sounds nothing like any rock kit I have ever come accross in all my years of live eneneering. I have mixed lots of drummers from Art Blakey to Bill Breauford. I am trully supprised at the very poor sounds on the Roland and many other makes. It has taken me hours and housr to clear out the crap.

Can I assume this works with the KV version of the kit? Is it fairly easy to install?

Rolands been making electronic drums forever but still have lousy sounding modules. I just don't get why when other companies have great realistic drum sounds. But my question is. How is the quality of the drumtec kits compared to Rolands ? As far as the triggering and the way they feel playing them ? And there reliability. Thanks.

It would be great to have some of your thoughts on the modules and/or drums as well in the videos (or maybe some review you would do apart .) As much as i am interested in hearing the drums I would also like to know how complicated it was for you to get the kits to sound like that or if you had issues with the hi hat or just if you think the drums are great .I get you're trying to sell the kits but we all know they are downsides and upsides to each kits ^^ anyways thank you for yet another great demo.
Hey Max, well generally speaking all drum-tec / Roland kits play great out of the box without any trigger problems :) I myself don't edit/mix the drum-tec Sound Editions (this specific video demos the Real Acoustics Sound Edition for TD-27 in the first place).
In my optinion, there is absolutely no downside to any drum-tec kit / Roland module configuration, playability & triggering are top notch, feel is a as close to an acoustic kit as it can get with a noiseless e-drum. Sound finally is up to personal taste, and if onboard module sounds are not enough for you, you can always use midi out & trigger some state of the art sample libraries like Superior Drummer or SSD5.
Hope that helps a bit :) I personally am not a fan of talking & review videos, as these mostly represent a single person's opinion, which to me is not neccessarily helpful. I prefer "straight to the point" demos & letting the instruments speak for themselves :-D
