My current LeSabre and my old 96 Olds Regency had the same problem. Sometimes I had to shake the battery terminal for the car to start. Cleaned the terminal and things worked out pretty good.
great timing...my neighbor gave me same car less than 50k...hasnt run n a bit so this video was spot on...hurry up part 2 want to see how much you get $$$
I just bought a 200 dollar solara. I put new tires on it and greased the brakes and we’re are driving smooth. Did I mention the rebuilt transmission 15000 miles ago.
Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Removal is cheap and great for that work. It is the best bug, tar, and sap removal I have tried. Cleaning those through the pressure of water is really dangerous. Both to the paint, but also for the rubber seals - which must be very fragile and brittle, due to its age and been left out for so long.
3800 tips for smooth engine. Clean MAF and Throttlebody butterfly area. Clean the EGR valve and tube (turnover engine without EGR to clear out carbon). Replace plugs and wires.
A coworkers Mom passed away, and she had a 96 Buick Lesabre. It only had 70,000 miles on it.Him and his brother looked up blue book value, and said it was worth $1500..So I bought it.I drove it for a year, and sold it at a good profit.Itdrove nice, but was such a soft ride, kind of wallowed.
As a 97 Buick owner if you haven't bent the crank yet you should have taken the spark plugs out and turned it over and water would blown out. every time someone puts a starter in and have no crank issue there will be no anti-freeze in the overflow jug and the upper plenum went bad and hydro locked the piston this is the only problem I had. I now have 198'000 miles on my car and was repaired at 100'000.
Both of those rubber boots and the first 2 feet of cable are prob. corroded. If you cut the boot and see green and white nasty stuff you can take it apart and clean it out. Same thing applies to about the first 2-4 feet of cable. You cut back until you see no more green and fresh copper. You scrub them with Dawn and backing soda and a tooth brush. Let it dry out grease everything up put the insulation back on it. 3M electrical tape the entire thing back up. If you do it smartly everything is reusable and seals reasonably well. I live in the rust belt and this is common. When I do them I take them out of the car and do it sitting down at a bench and then spray off in drive way and leave out in the sun to dry and overnight too. When they get really bad you will be driving along on the Interstate and the car will just shut off and lose all power and then suddenly start back up as if nothing happened. I have seen people go through starters and battery's when the real problem was the main power cables.
The car will rust to undriveability before that 3800 series engine gives out. My '06 Lucerne has one and it runs like a top. Keep an eye on that water pump, too. Those are notorious for breaking down. Same for the 90 degree connectors coming out of the water pump. Buy aluminum ones instead of the plastic.
K and L uses the same orange switch gear on their electic over hydraulic motorcycle lift. we hav eone. On ours, the solenoid broke while it was in the air and we had to bleed out all of the oil to get the lift down (it had a harley davidson on it). hope that solenoid on that thing works!
These cars won't get you cool points, but are great for just getting around because they are bombproof. Winter beater/work car/extra car/or road trips to save miles on more expensive vehicles. Old Buicks are the poor man's Cadillac. A flip on this car could easily make you 1000 bucks to put towards another project. Nice!
A couple of things about police speed measuring. LIDAR aka laser cant be used in motion by police. Also LIDAR cant be detected until it is too late to slow down. Even the best detectors will only pick up laser when you are being hit. To defend against laser you need a jammer.
I bought a 99 Buick century custom last year for 300 dollars. 84k miles. It had sat for 3 years and would not take a jump from another car or a battery pac I bought a new battery and she fired right up.my brother drove it for 9 months before the transmission died. 125 bucks at the junkyard and shes going strong with 105 k miles
We bought a saturn sc2 that wouldn't start but it would turn over so the guy sold it for 300, it ended up being the fuse for the fuel pump and started up and ran perfectly. The repair litterally costed nothing and it got sold for 1200$
My grandfather had one until it got hit like a year ago they are luxury for there time

The only cars you can find for $500 in Arizona (there's none for $300) are cars that need a new engine or a new transmission, or cars that have major body damage. When you pressure wash a car, you might want to have someone inside the car checking for leaks, otherwise you could easily ruin that nice velour interior.
Speaking as a loyal BMW owner....My dad gave me his 2005 LeSabre and I love it! Absolutely everything in it works and the original paint is still shiny. I notice people looking at it everywhere I go 😊🚗 102,000 miles and capable of many many more 👍🏻
My Aunt had that same make, model, and color she bought brand new. She drove it back and forth from DC to Palm Beach once a year. When she died the car looked and drove perfect. 38K in 10 years sold at her estate sale for 3,350. Who bought it? The service manager at the dealership she bought it from. As far as I know he still owns it.
My mother in law has been on hard times and just bought a 93 LaSabre as her daily driver. I think she was feeling really sorry for herself but I told her that as a teenager I drove an 89 Riviera and it's still my favorite car I ever owned. Buick made some very comfortable, nice to drive cars in that era.
I bought a 98 leather 2017.craigslist.so many problems. Wanted $1,000 talked him too $900. I've put thousands of dollars into it now, labor.new struts, radiator, thermostat, I did the upper manifold gaskets, changed the Dec oil to green coolant(dexcool eats the plastic gaskets up). Oil changes myself, intake cleaner, off valce, verything.but Ned to do subframe bushings.rears are discontinued. Engine will survive ALOT. You he v63800 . did alternator too. AC Delco professional.as the only GM alternatives are rebuilts.
Those buicks where great cars i put over 350,000 miles bought it new at the time all regular maintenance was performed the only things i had to replace was cats which became clogged up and either water pump or alternator i forget which one otherwise great car
I had one of these Buicks with the 3800 great car mine was a 99 the engine module went bad and also had to replace the neutral safety switch but it had 330k on it but ran great and very good mpg
I always appreciated the styling of the 90s LeSabre. The overall design is sort of retro and those thin a pillers give such an attractive look and visabily.
Should have used the foam brush.
that is THE BEST car ever. i had a 1997 model. a bit of me died when it died. i would kill to have another one in the shape yours is in.
My current LeSabre and my old 96 Olds Regency had the same problem. Sometimes I had to shake the battery terminal for the car to start. Cleaned the terminal and things worked out pretty good.
Series 2....make sure the head gasket isnt blown.
The bathing ape bike is fire
Thank you! I love my wrap 💪
I learned something today about hooking up a battery to a dead battery and the charger to fool it into charging.
My neighbor owned a buick lesabre. That thing was a beast.
I bought a set of the 7000lb QuickJacks this spring. They're the best thing ever. I got the 12 volt version so I can use them almost anywhere.
That's the beauty of the 3800, easy to work on!
Bug bomb
This is the exact car i just bought and I love it!
Had a white LeSabre. Very beautiful car.
I have the Quick Jacks. True game changer.
great timing...my neighbor gave me same car less than 50k...hasnt run n a bit so this video was spot on...hurry up part 2 want to see how much you get $$$
Enjoy these quick flip videos
3.8 power baby! I had one with 350k miles and it would still roast the tires. Original motor and trans. 1988 Oldsmobile delta 98 Royal Brougham
Ants were bad early summer
I paid $200 for my 97 Lesabre. Invested $1000 in parts, and it's been a great vehicle!!
That denied fistbump though.
That's a late 90's buick. Since they changed the headlights, Tailamps, And they moved the glovebox to fit a passenger airbag. Nice buy.
Really cool Buick
My grandparents used to have a LeSabre
You had me at LeSabre. Those things are comfy like a cloud. And I love the 3800 gm engines. They just run and run.
quick jacks are set up backwards. The locks go to the outside so you dont have to reach under the car to release them.
was wondering why you didn't have quick jacks! good stuff man!
Terrific engine
I just bought a 200 dollar solara. I put new tires on it and greased the brakes and we’re are driving smooth. Did I mention the rebuilt transmission 15000 miles ago.
I want a Park Avenue Ultra because of Tyler.
I bought an 05 LeSabre a month ago from the original owner with 18,000 miles. It's showroom new.
La's Totally awesome cleaner will pull all that junk off the paint without damaging it, has done wonders on my truck with Tar and Road grime and bugs
Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Removal is cheap and great for that work.

Both to the paint, but also for the rubber seals - which must be very fragile and brittle, due to its age and been left out for so long.
Good luck with that JR.
Yay Weston!
back to his roots
Glad you got the Quick Jacks, but was surprised you didn’t go with the MaxJax instead.
Cliff Hangin Bassstarddd lol
Bendpak makes a 9ft lift for home garages or a 4 post will probably fit
Those 3.8's are usually pretty good engines
I got a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix se for 300 bucks for my first car nothing wrong with it has 221k on it and it runs and drives like a dream
3800 tips for smooth engine. Clean MAF and Throttlebody butterfly area. Clean the EGR valve and tube (turnover engine without EGR to clear out carbon). Replace plugs and wires.

The front door a pillar design looks very similar to a Daewoo Espero (GM) and a Citroen Xantia.

I love these cars. Not kidding

I’ve got a 96 lesabre. I love that car. It’s like riding down the road on your couch!
