One of the first things they break is the visor Wednesday got to 80 had a T storm got missed by a Tornado and that night it was trying to snow Great tip o the Day using a washer
You know RK, for all the years I worked on cars and such, I never messed with the visors. And, I know I probably never will this late in life but, I'll be darned cause at least now I know how lol. Good stuff bud.
Got a '69 C-10 visor on my desk - learning from you! I will drill new holes for the' metal spine to backing plate' clamping. What you need to do is dependent on the condition of your visors.
That's cool!! I'd like to see how they turn out!! You could Blind Stitch that edge by hand if you don't have a machine that can handle it and it will look just as good!!☻
I have so much to say during the vid but when i get to the end i forget what it was. Problem is if i comment durring the vid there ends up being 10 comments left by me. Lol. That being said next time you will get a few comments. Lol. One thing was i was going to quote yo7 again saying "Its only a daily driver" lol. Now every things custom. Lol. I know how it is.. you start to love her so much.. you are doing it for ☆enter name here☆... (the truck). Great job. Thanks to you i have alot of ideas for my truck...(still havnt named her). Btw i thing the stitching would have been better if you would have gone freehand with intuition rather than a guide. Not that im bauking at it. Its sweet. Like my harley seat i did a few years back.. stitchings all cattywompus but it is what it is. Looks good from 6 ft and not some cookie cutter joe job done by 4yr old slaves in tibet. Sorry for the book. Lol. Have a blessed easter. 🍺🌄🇺🇸🤝
Thanks RHEID!! It's funny you mention the stitching, As soon as I finished I showed the Ol' Lady and told her the next one I'm gonna do it freehand!! It should come out better now that I can slow it down to a stitch at a time!!☻
Now I know how to redo sun visors. The whole interior looks fantastic.... I love the color combo you used too. My goal is to eventually reupholster a car interior making it all from scratch like you did. I learned a lot from watching you upholster your truck. I bet the past owner wouldn't even recognize it, as you have done a fantastic job restoring it. I have reupholstered a couple chairs with my walking foot machine, but bought it to do car interiors. My plan is to reupholster the Bel Air's interior back to factory original.... basically thats the seats and door panels.... the rest of the interior looks as original as it can.
Thanks Howard!! You'll really enjoy doing an interior with the Juki!! My lil' machine has plenty of power and is slow as can be now but another 1/8" clearance under the foot would be gold!!☻
@@805ROADKING Yea, I love that Juki. I got the servo motor option as there more controllable than the clutched motor. I can turn the a knob under the machine to regulate the power to the motor, and can do one stitch at a time also. If I turn that knob past 5, it gets away from me, running way too fast. I find 3 is a nice setting now. Maybe when I get more use to it, I'll speed it up a bit. A friend uses the machine for leather.... he turns the knob to 8, sewing at an amazing speed. He marks a line where he wants the stitching, sometimes stitching four layers of leather through it... he always folds his seams over, they look amazing. His stitches look amazing because he just runs the line exactly through needle. I watched him stitch leather to plastic too.
Well, they call it chipboard, but it's really just really very thick cardboard, even burns nice too, obviously burning scrap stuff that's either offcuts or water-ruined... :P
I have a question? Where, or what kind of supply store can I buy that chipboard? I'm having a hard time finding it for sale here in Califonia for that specific size " 0.50 1/32 chipboard" Thanks
You might have mentioned it and I missed it, but when you compared the shape of the old to the new I wondered about the rear view mirror, does it clear?
Hey roadking, this is off topic but im planning to rebuild a briggs model B coil and i was wondering what you guys used for tape on the wax paper between the secondary layers
Between the primary and secondary we use a thin fiberglass tape!! But once we start putting the layers of wax paper we just use a small piece of Scotch tape in the middle to hold the wax paper down so you can wrap the wire around it!!
Actually now youve brought up another question, what is the purpose of the tape being fiberglass between the pri and sec, is it possible to substitute it with another type of tape?
I think the tape between the p & s is just for insulation!! You could use black friction tape, I think that's what was there originally!! Regular Electrical tape would probably work fine if that's all you have!!
I stuck around for the whole thing Road King I learned something. never done a sunvisor before. 👍👍
Thanks alot Lowrider!! That was a long one this time!!☻
I love it when a MASTER says “ We Will Be OK!” Road King rules.
Thanks alot Tom!!☻

Your sewing machine powered right though all those layers!

Thanks Carl!! Yeah 99.999999% of the people watching this will never mess with a visor but it's fun to see how they're put together!!☻

How long would you say those rivets are? 1/2" maybe?
April 18th I'm getting UA-cam from the future.
Yeah Buddy!! I missed that by a mile!!☻

You might have mentioned it and I missed it, but when you compared the shape of the old to the new I wondered about the rear view mirror, does it clear?
Yeah it clears, plenty of room!! The 64 & 65 are identical, they just improved the design and materials!!☻

What size needle do you use?
No wonder you put that V8 motor on your machine, sewing that many layers! LOL
Yeah I could sew through plywood now, only wish I had another 1/8" between the feets!!☻
@@805ROADKING LOL
The notch is so that the visor doesn't hit the rear view mirror. How does the new visor fit around the rear view mirror?
I fits fine, both trucks are identical that they came outta, they just changed the design with better material between 64 & 65!!☻
I tried sowing many times not sure what I’m doing wrong never works well for me
HA! First comment! I bet I haven't got first comment on here in ten years.
Way to go and you win a used sun visor backing card slightly used.
Oh yeah.... its s}{!tboard. Lol😆
Every time I see you use the spray glue it reminds me of this episode of Mrs. Brown's boys.
