    This is interesting, useful (I have a 50yo interior set for my 74 V8 that needs some TLC, leather as opposed to the cloth I currently have), but also really sad.
    All these industries are dying, especially here in the UK. I remember taking my old Buick / Rover V8 to middlesex rebores, it was one of the last engines they worked on before closing their doors and selling their equipment off as scrap. Fella I knew in Wimbledon who did lead loading, cold stitching, bearing castings, mostly on old Armstrong Sidleys and the likes, he passed away, kids and grandkids didn't care. My old boss who worked as a mechanic and classic car resto guy got thrown out of his garage by TFL because they would rather have bars and coffee shops renting than heavy industry. Fella who I did a top end rebuild on his old Austin Healey needed a hand, he's a joiner / carpenter, not my type of thing but I like working with my hands so I helped him out for a month. He literally makes kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, you name it, from raw stock to finished product and fitting. Learned quite a bit during that month. Same problem, he's got to be out by the end of April, his kids don't give a toss, he tried to get them to work with him, but they just got angry, broke some tools and one cut the end of his finger off on a table router (no respect for the dangerous equipment).
    So pretty soon, we won't have anyone to repair, maintain or build us anything aside from large conglomerates.

    Haha. This popped up on my feed. Can't hear it, too loud here. But here's what you need to know. It ain't rocket surgery. Go at it with a hacksaw blade, cut that crappy foam out, get a new chunk of foam and a cann of spray glue...stuff it in there and shape it a bit. Bob's your uncle! Getting a good cover or stitching one together is the real work. The foam is the easy part.. while you're in there may as well add heat pads! Now do your motorcycle too!

    William I just found your channel and subscribed. I am trying to learn and I appreciate you posting this good stuff. Once the foam has been steamed will the foam hold its position for long, or will it soon go back to the worn down position?

    • @williamhall749
      @williamhall749  7 місяців тому

      If the foam is dead steam want revised it. But if it blows it back to it's original shape then it should. The cover shrinkage usually compresses the foam. It a good idea to steam it .& thanks for watching and picking up on doing this type work.

New at this kind of project. I do have pictures to show if your able to help this newby. William I have a question. Can I get kerosene out of my seat that has soaked it up till it is almost up to the head rest? I was hauling a heater and was not aware it was leaking kerosene all over the seat and back floor..😢it’s a 2010 Chevy Silverado

    • @williamhall749
      @williamhall749  Рік тому +1

      Kerosene is oily fuel, I would try a spray bottle with dawn dish soap, keep in mind, it don't take a lot. it will break the kerosene down and take a shop vac and pull the water back out it will also take the fuel out. pump up sprayer works well also for this process. hope this helps.
