Look up: Binding attachment on Walking Foot machine.
I have a walking foot machine for upholstery. The extra foot presses down hard to hold all the layers together to easily feed the thick material through the machine, without slipping out and moving, for perfect stitches.
You did a good job with your industrial machine, you have to work really hard to sew thicker materials. Glue and staples can help manage heavier materials.
Also using bonded nylon thread. it wont fray and usually lock up the machine before it breaks.

I think you did a pretty god job here. What became apparent to me is how much there is to a sun visor. The only thing I ever noticed about sun visors is whether they're clean or not. Now I'll be seeing them differently. Thanks for this video.
I have a 1948 Chrysler Windsor and I'm grateful that its sun visors are in good shape.

Another great project from you Mr. Jay! I have yet to do my sun visors, so I can use this for a guide on doing mine!. Thank you for showing us how to do it and God Bless You sir!

Voila! Tres bien monsieur! Loved the old movie clip with Carl Riener, Sid Caesar, imogene Coco, etc. I think it is so sad that so many of the old craftsman skills have left us. Something shiny & new & less labor intensive seems to always lay the older stuff on the shelf -- bummer.

    I've made this.. looked great
I noticed you learned some fabric need to be oriented to the same direction when you cut material.. i found it out also. I did the front seat / still need to do the back seat of a 48olds Coupe.

Did you ever figure out that you dont need to glue or tape the binding just cut it big and pull and stretch while your going around it? Then you would trim close to the stitching afterwards. Also an edge guide helps a lot. Either the kind built into the pressure foot or the swing down.

Good job! I would really like to have an industrial sewing machine. Is your Juki a walking foot model? I am hearing that is what I really need for auto upholstery. Although I know some have done it without that feature.

Some day I hope to get a walking foot machine. This Juki is not, but I was able to do the entire interior with it.

Amazingly well done to retain the vintage look.
Of course you kept trying, you are a "Jayhawker" !
What part of the Jayhawker state are you in ?
I am smack in the middle myself.
