How To Wrap Custom Sunvisor
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- In this video I will show you how to replace old nasty sunvisor material and wrap new in a Jeep Cherokee XJ. Today I will be installing on a 2 door 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ. I will be showing the whole process from start to finish. This process is similar to nearly all vehicles that have a cloth headliner. If you have any other questions that the video doesn't cover make sure to comment below and I would be happy to answer.

Opinions on the soft background music? Yah or Nah?
Yah for sure
OutJeeping. Yur the dude from trippy commentaries
yah , i think sounds cool and we can perfectly listen your instructions , great videos dude !
Nah DIY vids don't need music
Yah
Man, you must sleep with a Jeep manual under your pillow at night! I got my headliner fabric from Hobby Lobby today and just got done recovering my headliner an hour ago. It looks fantastic. I have enough material left to do my visors. I was just going to reuse the old ones, but that would be like putting ugly lipstick on a pretty pig 😂. Thanks for the video. Never would have figured that one out!
Little tip. Use an iron to press the old visor material flat, then you won't have to fight it curling up.
Hi I just replaced headliner and the sun visors in my sons Jeep yesterday ,I had never done this before so your video was very helpful and they turned out great thanks very much
Your voice sound almost just like Ryan Reynolds!
E G I totally agree! Lol
You’re a life savor! I hate the cloth material the sun visors on my 3rd gen camaro have, the previous owner put them on and it really just brings the cars look down & i wanna wrap them in faux leather just didn’t know how but now i know so thank you for this video haha
Ive done a couple of these. Good vid! Difficult the first time but it’s a breeze after you figure it out and adds a killer personal touch to your interior. I’ve found that you only need to cut the mirror side to get the clam apart. I would avoid cutting the other side of the visor because it preserves the template a lot better.
Great job. I like the step by step instructions and how you mention what to do if a mirror was there. Good detail. Thanks!
wooohooo... you got a new blade for your utility knife... much better... ps great job.. I think a headliner redo is next for me..
Thanks Man . I just learned the final piece to the puzzle, and you gave me some sick ideas. “ any place like Michael’s or JoAnn’s has fabric to pick up ...
Just replaced my headliner last week with a darker shade of gray per your video, came out great. Now I will first try to dye the visors, if that doesn't work out so well then I will do this
Nice video... I actually took my complete headliner out of my Jeep this week and decided to leave it out as I think a utilitarian look is very suitable for my Jeep XJ and and the new head room is great too probably two to three more inches clearance. I think I'm going to take the fabric headliner off of the sun visors as well and leave them off. I think it looks great like that.
Working on my sound deadener and insulation now. I'm glad the sun visors are so easy. I thought I was gonna be sewing hahaha
This makes me so happy😅 I can’t wait to rebuild my 95 Cherokee🤘🏼
I thank you so much for this video you just saved me money on paint or buying new visors
I don't have the same type of vehicle, but this was so dope! Lots of new ideas now 😁🔥
Hey dude great video!! Glad you shared! That's exactally what I need to do for my visors on my Dodge Dakota. Thanks again!! 🙂 🤗
Out Jeepin is a very good "ADVisor" ... "and that's a wrap" lol
Thanks so much for taking time out to share this with us dude.
A+++
That was awesome. Thank you.
Now I need to find where to by new attachments that lock it into place. Both of mine snapped due to the cold.
Thanks for the video! Alot of money saved fixing it yourself 👍👍👍
That was very interesting thanks for sharing this. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida
I learnt something new today! Most interesting.
As for music, I always prefer no music of any kind in tuts but if a video has music, I prefer it like this one is, very low and soft. In a tut, I come for info not to be entertained by someone else's taste in music. If I wanted that, I'd watch music videos of bands I enjoy. In some peoples tuts, the music is so loud (and so bad imo) you can't hear what the person doing the tut is saying.
Thank for the info. I'm going to upgrade my Ford ranger headliner in a few weeks
Very nice, thanks
Much easier to use a crow foot auto trim tool and a one inch putty knife.Slip your putty knife into the edge seem to open it enough to slide the trim tool in to pop the clips. No cutting or prying needed.
Thank you. I'm just about to tackle reupholstering our little Suzuki Carry kei truck.
Thanks for the video, I thought I would have to send mine out to get reupholstered...
Nice video man 👍🏽 I’m going to give it a shot. my visor has a mirror so hope it comes out good !
Intro made me sub, lol
Great job! Going to try this on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler visors
Excellent video Austin, you're a pro.
I’m doing my WJ and I’m laughing because our material is almost identical even though you posted this video 5 years ago.
After watching this I am thinking about doing the same using light brown Scottish plaid for to contrast it with biege color interior of W211. 😂😂😂. Thanks
Thank you Great teaching 😊
Very helpful. Jist got stuff to re do mine in my convertable.
Thanks! Great vid! Dude! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you I’m doing this this weekend
Nice, Austin. I'm going to do my headliner and visors soon. Good info. Thanks bud.
Looked amazing!
that is a great tutorial! Thank you!
Thanks I need to do this on my XJ
Dude thanks!
Awesome, thanks for the video mine fell apart so I need to reupholster them. I’m thinking of some nice tye dye shirts or black with bleach sprayed on it
ahaha damn wish watched this first, broke all those clips. this has been the hardest part of the roof re upholstery for me. thats clever cutting it partly off and prying the clips.
Top notch, thank you!
Came out nice homie...nice video thanks for sharing
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼 excellent video & thanks for sharing .
Great idea!
Nice job ,
This gives me encouragement ! But I wonder if I use a vinyl if it will snap together in the end? Too thick?
It might be, the plastic teeth on the inside may not be able to penetrate through the vinyl to hold onto it when it's all closed up.
Good video Austin
Excelent (y)
Thanks looks good
Dude you could seriously do fill in voice over work for Ryan Reynolds lol
Hmm not really
Cool going to do this also
maybe I will attempt this cheers.
Mine both have mirrors. And i havent quite figured that part out yet
It can be tricky but make sure to cut out the new material like the old stuff and I install the mirror so the material is tucked in nicely
So to be clear, you only spray glued inside the edges, and not the whole surface of the plastic clamshell, correct?
I was just gonna spray paint mine to match new headliner material, until I saw this video. Definitely going to take the time and wrap the visors, thank you 😁
Yup because when you fold the visors back and snap them together the fabric will get tight for a nice finish.
Good video
Have you done a 1976 Toyota pick up truck headliner or is it gonna be the same because there is no board it just goes straight up onto the metal
Hey man, great vid! Can you use any type of fabric?
Whatever is stretchy, thin, and light seems to work the best for headliners.
Does anyone make the decals on the visors. I think it would really complete the look
Genius
Thats great
Hey, thank you for this video! As for fabric, did you just use regular fleece?
Yeah standard one layer thick fleece at joann fabric.
Could you use any fabric?
Holy shit yur the guy from trippy commentaries
What are you even talking about?
My sun visors lights stopped working what do I do??
Yeah, no, this is a lot harder in person than it looks on video. My 2000 sport has mirrors, and man, let me tell you it was just too hard of a job to do by myself. I ended up scrapping both visors and decided not to run sun visors because they just looked terrible after they were done. Terrible mirror design by Chrysler, imo because the mirrors kinda just sit in without anything holding them in, and mirrors just kept falling out.
any guides on how to wrap roof console ?
Its pretty simple but what I usually so is take apart the outer border of the console and wrap that then screw the center section back in then install back into the vehicle
Mines not plastic inside now I'm confused
I have a 95 grand cherokee larado and can't figure out how to remove the vents on the back side of the car. Chiltons book I have is no help. I need to remove them for sanding and painting. Help please.
Will this method work on 95 or earlier models?
I don’t do basically. I’m looking for specifically lol
Technically
I think this is Ryan Reynolds lol
What is the dry time on that glue? I noticed in the headliner video even though it was sped up it still took some time to get the fabric in place.
This has a good description of the glue properties. www.gluegun.com/blogs/adhesive-reviews/15157577-3m-super-77-spray-adhesive-celebrates-50th-anniversary
how manu yards of fabric did you use for that?
You can get away with 3 but I like having a little extra so I use 4.
Will this method work with 95 model?
Top
Bottom
is this design only for jeeps? i have a 1994 Ford f150 XL id like to try this on.
It should work on any vehicle if the frame of the sun visor disassembles like what is shown in the video and made of plastic. Cardboard framed visors can be done as well but a lot more work will be needed to be done to have it turn out nice.
Are all visors made like that where they butterfly open?
Alot of them do especially for jeeps but I can't speak for all vehicles
What kinda fabric did you use
Single layer fleece from any fabric store.
Where did you get fabric? Looking to do the same to mine
I got mine at Joanne fabrics
@@OutJeeping thank you! Great video 👌
Did you use any glue?
Yes 3m super 77
How much fabric would I need
I just use extras from what I did the headliner install but it was definitely less than a yard for the visors
Sold clip game. Me undoing these visors is not something worth recording. Lol!
New knife blade...yah
Wht year is the Jeep I need the visors
This one was a 2000 but they should all be the same for 97-01
There are videos about trucks or follow us on Facebook as Tamaulipas extremo 4x4
Nice video but wtf is that fabric...gross! 😂
Plaid fleece, Joann fabric has got the hook up
Why?
Why what?
How to ruin a Jeep with San Francisco fabric.
To each their own.
Maybe don’t record from five feet away so people can actually see where you’re sticking shit.
Or your depth perception is way off lol.
