The sweet spot is the area or position on the footboard where the foot feels most neutral for that particular technique. The pedal and set-up along with different techniques will determine where the sweet spots is. Remember no one technique is better than another. The trick is to learn many techniques and determine which of those work best for you and your drumming.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! After hours of trying to grasp the subtle but essential second movement, you explain it so well that I finally was able to do it on the first try (sloppy at first but still). That's a whole new level that you helped me unlocked . TY again :D
Some drummers have been showing me the slide technique, which you mentioned at the beginning. They mostly describe the sweet spot further up the pedal then slide forward. How do you come up with your sweet spot and why you think this technique is better?...thanks!
Watched this on play speed 0.25. Since I can't see the beater head, looks like the sound of the first stroke is coming when the foot is going up which is very confusing. How can the beater make a hit when the foot is going up?
He explains it at @2:45, his leg/foot is coming down the entire time. Midway down he hits with his ankle/toe, then he locks his foot to get the second hit.
That’s why the old rock band pedal breaks up? I’m grateful Harmonix/EA has upgrade their pedal since the RB2’s bundle release but only downgraded in Special Value Edition bundle (for Beatles: R.B).
I need to get out of the habit of doing it backward … Basically heel first toes up then toes down kinda combining two techniques (eg. Gravity leg vs ankle joint movement ) not the best if you don’t want them to have different tones on each beat TBH… I’m using an Alesis E kit
Awesome lesson of a bit of your knowledge for the class! Add to that your experience, skill & talents, with a developed technique and unique intricacy. Soon a student of yours will be teaching! THIS comment is to compliment your selflessness and share, iterate my respect of your gifts and to make a slight suggestion, I hated this word "constructive" & "critism"! It's not that at all! It is in an area that I can teach class about. Can you record these in 44Khz/16bit or at 96Khz/24bit, in Stereo (Dolby or DTS), recorded at a Volume Unit (VU), input level @ -4db to -12db, & at an output level of -1.3db to -6db (VU), well MAYBE this can be maxxed at 0db for teaching, NEVER for production tho! YOU ROCK! scratch that!! YOU METAL!!!
"step one: put your foot on the sweet spot of the logo, where the foot feels natural" thankfully, the video wasn't too shit after this. My speed improved. Thanks

Rikarddrum As fine of a bd technique lesson as I've seen! Tremendously efficient, intuitive and the end result speaks for itself! Thanks!

Thank you! This was super helpful! Can't wait to try this technique!
I am so excited to come across your video. This is definitely a game changer for me and I Thank you for this awesome lesson.
Great technique! Bravo!
Thanks for the video. Very clear and useful explanation. 👍
😀Best technique for doubles on a pedal that I've seen yet! The other techniques have been a real struggle for me.
Incredible dude, I’m going to practice!
An excellent explanation…..will work on the techniques exactly as demonstrated in the video….Thanks…
This is so helpful ❤
Awesome training video and thx for sharing Rikarddrum
Awesome tutorial!!! thanks!
Amazing speed!! Nice!!
u opened my eyes my friend. thank you
But closed your right ear
Amazing..thx for sharing
Super helpful video. I've always skipped the ball of my foot up the board... this is so much easier and faster.
Asombroso! Vale la pena intentarlo.
Thank you for your help. I'll do my best!😀
this helped me in 20min what i have done in 1yr thank's
Great video
Great tutorial!!! I only wish you showed us what the beater was doing. Cheers...
Great video! Can you please do a vid with out your shoes to see the actual movement and placement of the technique? :) Thank you!
Nice wing tips bro!

Raptor by Mapex.
Fantastic
Awesome!!
Nice!
Awesome! I wonder if it is the same as the rocking' motion (constant release) technique implemented at a very high speed?
Really good video one of the best I've seen keep up the good work
Probably one of the best ways to play "Good times, bad times" ?!
@Amino Gaming I don't get it why do people want to play like him or any other drummer just play how you play
C'est vraiment impressionnant.
C'est très très dur à réussir. Je n'y arrive toujours pas malgré des mois d'entraînement
Very cool
Another very important point is that the beater is very low so that you have much more bounce.
So lower your beater as much as you can
Yep up & down with a pivot…
Nice
my left ear enjoyed that
tight the springs!!!
my left ear enjoyed it (:
I see my problem now. I need to upgrade my shoes.
Thank you can you do video on triple bass strokes
Dig it!
Nice
Imagine if he was just doing a single bass and doubles on a practice pad 😂 all jokes aside this is sick
and i bet you like the spring loose, the mapex raptor are fast .my spring loose as a goose ...
You have to explain what an ankle shot is
so the first strike is done with the heel up higher?
Oh shit!!!
I’ve just watched this & tried it on my electric drums & it works!!!
So right!!
Find that spot & hit it twice on the way down
OMG!!!
Yeeeah
Nice shoes
yeaah rptor mapex is great
❤
My right ear is jealous
play this technique for years, without lessons, its most natural for me.
Max Hogendijk yep
We're their stick involved the 32nd's making it countinous?
Yes, just in order to help hold a groove.
Esse pedal eo p1000 falcom????? 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
What pedal are you using?
i have the same pedal LOVit
Thought my earphone broke.
i played the video on my phone
now it speaks backwards
Watched this on play speed 0.25. Since I can't see the beater head, looks like the sound of the first stroke is coming when the foot is going up which is very confusing. How can the beater make a hit when the foot is going up?
Because of the knee action!
He explains it at @2:45, his leg/foot is coming down the entire time. Midway down he hits with his ankle/toe, then he locks his foot to get the second hit.
Funny that i came with this technique myself playing on shitty kits all the time. It's exactly that!!!
Nc shoes bro
Does anyone know the name of this technique?
the sound of the video is weirdly coming from the BACK of the phone
If you had triggers it would sound cleaner and really give it that dubble kick sound
That’s why the old rock band pedal breaks up? I’m grateful Harmonix/EA has upgrade their pedal since the RB2’s bundle release but only downgraded in Special Value Edition bundle (for Beatles: R.B).
i wont be able to tho that because
i don't have that kind of fancy shoes like yours😝😎🤘🏻
I understand what to do I just cant
but it is depend on what pedal ur using
😃
I need to get out of the habit of doing it backward …

A Lot of Gre to Say Gregorio
Funny at 0,5 x Speed
now you don’t need to spend 200 dollars on a double kick
anyone mastered this?

My left headphone is not working so I guess I won't hear this
I call that the g spot
I can play doubles as fast as my sticks can go too...lol
"step one: put your foot on the sweet spot of the logo, where the foot feels natural" thankfully, the video wasn't too shit after this. My speed improved. Thanks
At 4:47 when he's done playing the doubles you can hear his sticks
Caleb Johnson man real drummers know his foot still hitting the double beat. Stop hating
hope this doesn't go out of my right ear
My only problem is my pedal sucks.
Did ya give your shoes 👞 a shine? I see it's the wax that helps slip..and slide okay baby yea..
P
What are thoooooooooooose
try that on a real bass drum with no bounce
Does anyone else play better in just their socks?
Really looks and sounds like he's hitting a pad off cam. =/
show your whole pedal in the vid and then i will believe you...
jeana repetto you just suck at drumming
He didn't have his other pedal, you can see that his other foot remains still throughout the video.
