It was localized to just "Hard Boiled-Egg", but in Japanese it's specifically _onsen tamago_ (literally "hot springs egg") which is a special traditional method for making _soft-boiled eggs_ with a unique texture. Also explains why there's a quest about it.
@@zqmxqBy assuming soft-boiled = "uncooked". Same as how Monster Hunter translates "perfectly-cooked" into "well-done", which is an exact linguistic word-for-word translation that utterly obliterates the meaning lol.
The fact the bread and the cheesy bread aren’t 5 stars means you haven’t tried really good fresh baked bread or cheesy garlic bread before. 10/10, 11/10, 13/10, 100/10.
Note to the unaware: If you haven't watched the Unraveled episode where Brian David Gilbert and Adam Moussa cook and sample all the Breath of the Wild recipes, you should do that now.
I would like to point out that in botw it’s explicitly shown that monster extract is really healthy and good for you, as shown in the tarry town side quest where a little girl who’s malnourished due to her extreme picky eating habits is cured by eating monster cake. And in totk it’s shown that the reason people are divided about the flavour is likely due to monster extract having a funky flavour
3:58 i've never played totk before, and the way my jaw literally dropped at the "dark rice balls"-- IT LOOKS LIKE THEY PUT OUTER SPACE IN THERE?? WHY??? gorgeous and yet HORRIBLY unappetizing (which is wild, have u seen those galactic food drawings? they seem so tasty,,) it looks like it would put me into a coma
The monster cake deserves a slight boost in its score just for the whimsical little monster horns on top of it. The chef had to put those there, and you have to admire a chef's dedication to the finer details.
I'm glad to see a second person attempt this. brian david gilbert's video was impeccable but I'm glad to see someone hitting up the same idea based purely on aesthetic, tho I appear to strongly disagree with the taste in food.
If you'd like some other fun botw/totk food content, croton has 2 challenge videos of his making each recipe in either game before the first blood moon (he doesnt repeat ones he made in botw for totk tho). Just look up "croton food" (and make sure it doesnt autocorrect to crouton 😅)
When I was living in a dorm, my roommate would sometimes microwave some portobello mushrooms for a few seconds and I tried it and it’s way better than you’d think. It’s actually a pretty good snack
You say unseasoned for a lot of these, but that’s not necessarily the case! You can add salt to many dishes that don’t mention the saltiness in the title of the dish
Loved the video. Was hoping for a worst to best list at the end, similar to worst to best time list on your touch stuff videos, but still was great regardless!
My uncle deep fries the turkey every thanksgiving and I can confirm it is delicious… except maybe the first year when he didn’t entirely know what he was doing and it was dry as hell
Only thing I can disagree with is the ratings for monster foods, dark foods and Elixirs. But only because it's so damn hard to actually tell what they taste like, since there is no real world equivalents. For all we know, the monster cake, for example, could be the most delicious thing in all of Hyrule.
you don't actually need to add any monster parts to make a fairy tonic! just one single fairy makes a fairy tonic, and any monster parts are optional- unless you consider the fairy itself to be a monster i suppose.... anyway great video as always, keep up the great work!
I found out about the bread 2.5 from the bread pirate so it may sound like I am biased in his favor but I am not. I just myself as a person really like bread especially the plain type so I feel a bit of pain seeing that 2.5. Besides that great video.
OBJECTION! The description for the dark cake says that it has "a unique flavor that may be impossible to fully describe" meaning that the dark cake is actually an ethereal experience that ascends what tastebuds can comprehend, pair this with it's effect of defying the will of the demon king, and the dark cake should actually be 5 STARS

I give the roasted big radish a five. It has the health refill of an entire meal, AND IT'S STACKABLE!!! Definitely keep these on hand for emergency rations.

Yeah and these are much, much better than normal hard-boiled eggs, both texture and flavor wise. I'd say it would earn a 4.0 myself.
I guess that explains why they're called Hot Spring Eggs in the Mother 3 Fan Translation
How did the localization turn soft to hard
Also explains how you make hard boiled eggs in 20 seconds

Ik. They are so good
In fairness, this particular bread was made in a stone wok by boiling wheat in salt water in a process that took less than 10 seconds.
Yeah, with no leavening agent this bread is not gonna look like the picture. At best you get matzah though. Not half bad.
Garlic bread!!!!!!! Let’s go
Exactly. The Bread Pirate for the win
I will never forgive you. You have sinned against bread.
Cool, you are the goat.
Yeah i love garlic bread
Lets be real. If there was a zelda anime, based on botw or Totk, there shoud be a filler episode, where link tries to make a cake
@rowansharp6211link then tries Zelda's disaster and eats it like it's the best thing ever.

9:35 the crunchy fried rice is made by cooking the rice a bit more to make it crunchy. It's quite good actually :)
I love that all the frozen meats are rated lower than even "pile of rocks"
At least the pile of rocks vaguely has non rock food inside. Frozen meats are still ice. Theres nothing inside you could chew.
