    A note about the slip resistance buff:
    Climbing on ice does not receive any benefits from the buff, and you will still slip after roughly 3 seconds of climbing even with a level three buff. The only way to help with not slipping while climbing on ice is to get the slip proof set bonus, which completely negates all slipping, even on ice.

    • @Croton
      @Croton  Рік тому +222

      Ngl I forgot ice climbing was even a thing in this game, so I forgot to research it 😂 thank you!!!

    • @nicocchi
      @nicocchi Рік тому +35

      Another thing to note is that, while climbing slips are based on time, the amount of times Link grabs to a surface kinda serve as a visual cue anyways if you don't fancy counting the seconds.
      You just gotta keep in mind that he can climb at different rates depending on the incline and speed buff so it won't do more than helping with the ballpark

    8:21 the lynels in the floating collsium have a full 360 sight range. If you leave the area, so that they go back to “patrolling mode” and you return and you happen to behind the lynel, they’ll instantly know you are there and starts attacking.

      Honestly, I find that makes them less useful. There are specific options I go to when I want to spread status effects. If they were either a more powerful attack buff or could be stacked with regular attack up to go beyond level 3, I would find that more useful.

      Wait, so there is no Attack Up buff for, say, the Ember Set while in a lava cave? What's the point of it glowing when you're near lava? Each set would be even MORE useless in those environments since, not only do they not provide environmental protection, but all the enemies there are of a similar element, so your fire attack is gonna do less damage to the fire-based enemies!

    • @theknight1573
      @theknight1573 Рік тому +11

      @@BoyProdigyX that is my main issue with these sets, fire element in a fire area are kind of worthless, cold being only a little better since it is a better element. Only thunderstorms are kind of useful, but they are so rare it doesn't feel like it

  • @seerai-42
    @seerai-42 Рік тому +126

    Honestly feels like the mystic armor was supposed to be leveled up at some point, because if it follows the 3 defense armor upgrade path each piece would be 20 defense at level 4, so 60 defense plus the rupee padding, and if there had been a set bonus then whatever that would have been. It’s a shame too because if you get it early, you probably wont have the money to use it, and if you get it later on you’ll have way better armor to choose from.

    • @JayEverdeenValentine
      @JayEverdeenValentine Місяць тому +1

      If that was the case, Link would loose 10-30 rupees per hit. They can be useful against Lynels as long as you have the full padding set, otherwise you'll still take damage.

    Your Stats of the Wild series was what got me convinced to finally cave in and buy a Switch for Tears of the Kingdom (and Breath of the Wild via game voucher) and I love all the practical ways in which I get to utilize this knowledge:
    -killing high-rank enemies and overworld bosses with the knowledge of the EXP system and the better weapons it will eventually give me
    -using ice/fire weapons as temperature protection in the desert/mountains without need for specific clothes or food
    -upgrading armor because I know how low Link's HP actually are when compared to enemies and the weapons they wield (this may sound obvious to others, but as a Zelda veteran I am used to "enemies usually do only a quarter, a half or a full heart at damage, just max out your heart containers and you're fine")
    -increasing my damage output (therefore, wasting less durability) through tactics like mounting lynels, sneakstriking, ice-shattering and using hammers against rock-based enemies
    I'd love to see more videos on Fuse (this might be too niche as a topic, but I'd like to know which materials on which weapons result in which name of the fused weapon? Like how there's reapers and blades, or sledges and pulverizers, or hammers, pounders and smashers)

    • @mirandaa1464
      @mirandaa1464 Рік тому +6

      Reapers are sharp one-handed weapons. Blades are sharp two-handed weapons. Sledges are blunt-force weapons with a spear/polearm base. I'm not sure on the hammer/pounder/pulverizer thing myself. I know this comment is a bit late but hope it helps a little :)

    I assumed the Gloom Attack Resist was (in addition to the fourth ward heart) also reducing gloom based physical attacks by some percent value. It's a really weirdly named effects if it really does nothing to gloom attacks.
    The elemental attack buffs are also weird. The descriptions on the food items that can give you those buffs specifically mentions your muscles, so it's another weird case if it doesn't effect your physical damage at all.

    One interesting thing I've noticed about climbing in the rain is that jumping, while it does cause a slip, seems to reset the timer for slips during normal climbing. So, if you go a few seconds, then jump/slip, you can start a new bit of climbing with a fresh slip timer and repeat.

    • @KairuHakubi

    An idea for another stats video is going over all the weapon effects and how they work (like the Guredo weapon "Strong fuse" ability, even though that one is self explanatory)

    • @Croton
      @Croton  Рік тому +12

      I likely won't because nearly all of them are self explainable - they just deal double damage when the conditions are met!!
      There might be some odd quirks about them that could easily be covered separately though - such as knowing all wetness durations for the water buff!

    • @Nyxael5845
      @Nyxael5845 Рік тому +6

      Knight, Gerudo, Royal, Zora and Royal Guard weapons share the same buff of doubling damage in certain conditions.
      Gerudo grants powerful fusion in exchange for lower durability (you only get +5 fuse durability on top of the base durability of the weapon you are using) to balance it out.
      Knight weapons will deal double damage if you are on your last heart, making it far stronger than Gerudo weapons in the long run if you manage to avoid getting hit and it provides a high risk high reward scenario.
      Royal weapons will double your damage when you attack during a Flurry Rush, making it the strongest buff if you can flurry rush consistently
      Zora Weapons will deal double damage only if you are wet by landing in water or when you splash yourself with a Splash Fruit. This trait synergizes well with Sidon's Vow simce it grants you a water bubble and the game considers you as being wet.
      Royal Guard weapons deal double damage when they are close to breaking, and on the last hit they will deal x4 the damage, making it extremely devastating against Lynels because weapons do not break if you strike them while mounting them, meaning that it will always deal quadruple damage on each hit.

    Equal buffs and debuffs not canceling out doesn't have anything to do with the order the game calculates them, it's just a result of the game stacking stat changes multiplicatively instead of additively. The 20% increase stacked with a 20% decrease results in 120% * 80%, which is 96%. If the game added them, they would cancel out, since it would be 100% + 20% - 20%

    So glad to see you’re continuing this series for TotK; I watched all of them for BotW.
    Question, though:
    Does the “protection” provided by the Mystic armor also protect against environmental damage (i.e., hot/cold weather)? Or is it only for damage taken in combat?
    (Don’t have my switch at hand to test it myself.)
    If so, I could see a useful application whereby you where it in the heat/cold if have a fat wallet but no meals available.

  • @InkyDustMan
    @InkyDustMan 6 місяців тому +1

    Fun fact: Since the mystic set's rupee padding calculates AFTER normal damage reduction, and damage reduction can only reduce damage down to one point at the least and can't fully negate it-
    Pairing high defense armor pieces with pieces of the mystic set allow you to fully negate a bulk of powerful attacks, that can then be further boosted by defensive food bonuses.
    You ever stand in front of a lynel with 100k rupees in your pocket and absolutely no fear of death whatsoever?
    Do you want to?

    Good video! However, you didn't mention how exactly each one of the sage helmets buffs their corresponding sage. Perhaps in a future video on the sages you could talk about that?

    • @Croton
      @Croton  Рік тому +6

      The exact values are a bit varied, but typically the helmets will buff their normal attacks by 50%! Upgrading a sage with the vows can alternatively get this same increase in damage - but with both they'll do around double damage!!
      However there's still much research to be done, especially with how their abilities work - which is what I will look into next!

    The new weather attack buffs are really cool along with their sets. It's such a shame that weather is confined to very specific areas and you still have to manage your temperature. It'd be nice if it could randomly snow or have a day be extra hot anywhere.

    Concerning the weather attack up buffs, I did some testing on them and noticed the damage differs based on how you trigger the effect. Finishing the combo string just gets a basic amount of damage, but doing charge attacks does more depending on what level of charge you did. Sadly I'm not sure how I'd go about getting exact numbers, but in the testing I did (using spin attacks with a basic cheap sword and using the level 3 effect so I can do my best to ensure I'm hitting with just the elemental effect), lightning does seem to hit harder than the other 2 as with other uses of the elements, dealing around 25 with a level 1 charge, around 35 with a level 2 charge, and looking to be at least 55 when going all the way for a level 3. Considering the set effect boosts charge rate, I'm pretty sure the idea is to use that to actually pull off level 3 charges midfight and spam aoe blasts.
