Fun fact: A likely reason why the blue color might throw off your enjoyment of the flavor is that, scientifically, it's been proven that color is able to directly influence someone's sense of taste, for example someone who drinks sugar water mixed with blue food coloring might experience a blueberry or "blue raspberry" taste that isn't actually there because they expect it to be there. It's also possible that humans may have evolved to not find things that are colored blue as appetizing, as it's a very common color for poisonous plants and animals to develop as a warning signal to predators. It still looks amazing though.
My favorite method of keeping Link sustained with food is just making abhorrent amounts of desserts and junk food. Just things that Link should not be eating in excess. Cakes, pies, anything fried, pizza, lots of things with cheese and/or butter, the previously implied alcoholic beverage you can get from Gerudo Village (you can make it in-game; it's palm fruit, hydromelon, volt fruit, and rock salt), etc. I didn't care if it was effective or efficient.
@@MisoHungrieafter watching you for 3 years and motivating me to work for my local african restaurant, me just realizing you name starts for “Me so hungry” is hilarious. thank you for giving me joy in cooking again
Fun fact! The curry turned a brown-gray because of the turmeric and other spices (but mostly the turmeric). Blue and Orange/Yellow make brown because they are complementary colors! Turmeric is a natural yellow/orange dye so mixed with the liquid blue food coloring you get brown! But the curry was already brown from the other spices so it turned gray! The food actually looks really good. I would hope this is how they would do this recipe if they ever did a Totk pop up cafe!
It's hard to imagine why anyone would want to eat unidentified dark clumps left behind by Phantom Ganon and such. :3 It's like the legendary crystal that turned out to be...
For black rice, you should look into "forbidden" rice. It is naturally black, has a texture closer to brown rice, and has an aromatic flavor that the closest I can describe it is like the nuttiness of brown rice but with additional sweet and floral/herbacious notes. It's also a glorious dark purple-black color without any fishy smell like you get from squid ink, and it would definitely go well with curry.
Great job coming up with the recipe! It looks just like the game! The blue color was pretty crazy looking, but the way it dyed your mouth had me rolling🤣
Maybe you could take a stab at Yeto’s superb soup from Twilight Princess later. Nintendo actually released an official recipe for it, but it unfortunately leaves out the reekfish. I happen to have two biology degrees, and Zoology is one of my two specialities (microbiology is the other one), so I’m at least reasonably certain that reekfish are based off of Chinook salmon, if you want to include it.
Yeah the closest thing I can come up with based on the description is squid ink. I actually bought it from the seafood section frozen so it fits the in-game description "cold to the touch" and "pitch-black darkness"
The fact that you realiszed that isn’t the only “Dark” food item in the game; there’s Dark Cake (whose design can be replicated as a dark chocolate cake), Dark Rice Balls, and Dark Stew

At 1st i thought you were following a recipe from a cookbook but the fact that this was all made from scratch and it came out this cool is so damn amazing and impressive! 💙🖤
It looks so spot on to the artwork! That being said, I would rather take my chances with the gloom. I'm sure it tastes delicious, I'll have to try the un-dyed version though, I don't think I could get over the mental block either-- and that's coming from someone who loves blueberries and blue curacao, the texture of meat with that blue color would just throw me off sooo much.
Wow I'm actually really impressed at how spot on that looked. Also as a grown 90s girl myself the purple and green ketchup also threw me off, so I feel like this would too. But something that's perfectly tasty *and* looks that accurate is a real triumph and you should be very proud!
Actually, the most surprising recipe in game to me was the Cheesecake. I wish it were that easy to cook in real life! I would try your dark curry because it's clear that you put a lot of heart into it. It looks really great! Just like it came out of the game. Using squid ink was a brilliant idea to get that dark color! I can't guarantee that I would like it though. I am very much not a fan of curry.' Never gonna touch raita! Made with yogurt... It will destroy my insides.😅

If you’re curious about blue curry, then there is a really good and natural version common in northern Thailand. It’s just a massaman beef curry that has been cooked with a large amount of butterfly peas which naturally dye the curry to a nice bright blue color. It is a savory and slightly sweet flavor that is surprisingly good. Also for black rice, it might be hard and expensive to get, wild rice which is naturally black is an option
Wow, looks damn good. An alternative to squid ink would be activated charcoal, or some "forbidden" rice. IMO though, the forbidden rice has the texture of brown rice.
This is amazing, both the cooking and how well you made the video. Definitely needs more views on this video. This dish is perfect for any Zelda themed get together or adult birthday party.
So cool! Squid ink was a good idea, but black rice does exist too. It's super yummy and more nutritious than some other kinds of rice! I'm def impressed at the blue curry though 😂
Hahahah I loved the middle bit where you are like this scene with the raita is just an excuse to order lamb curry 😂😂😂 fax no printer!! Great job with the video Miso!!

Makes sense - forbidden rice is really tasty and pretty but it's still a whole grain rice.

@@EraidFreefire It's a black rice. Forbidden rice is just an alternate name for it
