In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). ever since i learned that mae is really into escape rooms this entire season makes so much more sense.
Mae is the exact mix of chaotic goblin and just a lil guy energy that I hope to embody.
Except that Mae performed well with most of these tasks because they think everything through logically, and un-chaotically, because they are an intelligent perfectionist with highly developed frontal lobe executive functionality. But other than that, sure!

As an extremely pedantic person, the debate after Mae's drum task was my favorite segment of the entire season.

I enjoyed watching Mae. While it's always fun to watch the people who don't really know what they're doing and manage to fail in spectacular ways, there's something quite satisfying about someone like them turning up and being great at pretty much everything through the series.

@@cirusa12 Honestly, it's a throwaway comment on a youtube video. If I thought people were going to analyse my word usage, I would have put a little bit of effort into it.
Look at the other posts of the guy you are replying to, he's a not very nice person trying to cause drama because he's unhappy in life. Ignore him, you'll be better for it.

Actually I reread your comment and realised I was right the first time, 'they' couldn't plausibly have meant 'people' because 'people' was referring to 'people who fail' as opposed to 'competent people like Dara/Mae'. So there wasn't really any ambiguity with your original sentence, though it could be misinterpreted if not read carefully.

My favourite part of that quote is easily the beat before “famously” where they’re clearly debating if they should finish the joke lol
What I've found is that the show is optimised for out of the box thinking, they bring in comedians for that for the comedy but also it allows for us to see how their brains will take a situation and try to solve it
Mae did an incredible job in using that to their advantage with what they know and can do, all while keeping some comedy involved
I fell in love with Mae on the first episode of the series. I just want to protect them at all cost.
Opened the comments with great trepidation and was pleasantly surprised 😌
On their own, Mae might not have been the most fascinating contestant to ever be on the show (and let’s be honest every series has that one contestant that seems to just nail every task) but they were easily the best springboard for the other panelists to create great moments: the string debate, the pineapple debate, and Frankie telling his childhood story about his snowman drawing after seeing what Mae did with an umbrella, all feel like, to me, stand out moments of not just the series but the show as a whole.
And when all is said and done, Taskmaster lives and dies by the cast’s chemistry in the studio so anyone responsible for getting those reactions, is a 10/10 contestant in my books.

it’s hilarious that people are still mad about the throw thing. greg called it, get mad at him lol not a contestant for giving it a go. or don’t get mad at anyone because it’s a comedy show lmaao
You know, looking at Greg as the imposing Taskmaster figure, he actually acts more like a referee. He has to make a judgment call knowing it's going to upset some people. Is this a foul? Is this a pineapple? I think he made the right call on the pineapple. You have to reward creativity when there is doubt. I like the creativity in drawing the pineapples. That's the reason why I like this show so much because it promotes problem solving, creativity and keen observation. I would never have thought to draw the pineapples but they are no different than any of those other pineapples that aren't literally pineapples, just things that look like a pineapple.
Some people out here not understanding what makes the show work. If everyone was just taking the piss and not ever doing good or getting into the competition, it would just be a fucking sketchshow

I really enjoyed that no matter the task, Mae would make a genuine attempt.
The hotreading medium one was too good
I thought they were using genuine cold reading techniques. Contacting Alex's wife made it fake fakery, and that put the attempt on a whole other level.
Also staying in contact with Alex's wife made it all that more wholesome.

The first thing I thought of regarding the drawn pineapples was the famous drawing of a pipe and the words "Ceci N'est Pas Une Pipe" (this isn't a pipe). I feel like that's a pretty well known example of the philosophical point the three were trying to argue, they just couldn't put it into words. Although it could just as easily be argued that none of the things that Alex prepared were actually pineapples, they were just 3D depictions of pineapples as opposed to 2D drawings.
I think the group of three would have better success arguing that in the instruction "pile the pineapples", the word 'the' suggests they're dealing with some specific pineapples and not just any pineapples.
@@Jcorry123 That's a really good angle as well! The task definitely assumes preexisting pineapples.
@@kralevic3297 but by that logic, only one pile of pineapples (presumably the ones in the lake) should count, while the same pineapples off to the side wouldn't, even though they were and were clearly the intended 'loophole' solution
and while I'm sure Frankie would've been happy to argue about the nature of language for an hour, there wouldn't have been enough time for the rest of the tasks

I really enjoy the Greg Davies puppet that Mae and her father created during lockdown. I love that they added a recording of Greg using a phrase we so often hear him yell in frustrated humor "I'm so full of hate!" I love Greg Davies and this show. I'm sorry it took me so long to find this program. I should have found it long time ago but oh well there's many ways to catch up on this delightful program and all of the wonderful comedians and friends that guest star on it. ! I just binge-watched all of "Man Down (2013-2017) a couple of months back. I'm still catching up on "The Cleaner (2021 - Present)" . I've always enjoyed creativity from the U.K. I was teethed on "Benny Hill Show(s)" I don't know which iteration though. I didn't realize until a couple decades later that Benny was the Toymaker in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
Anyway, I enjoy U.K. programing so much that I use what little entertainment budget I have to subscribe to Brit Box. So Very fun and funny. As an older American woman (66) I seek out as many laughs as I can find because I so stuck out in the weeds here that its getting harder and harder to find the humor in life here. Wow - that just went dark didn't it?

I'd just like to jump ahead with some positivity before some people bring their insecurities and use hateful language to make themselves feel better.
I thought Mae was brilliant on many of the tasks and I pegged them for the win very early on.
Hear hear. They attract so much vitriol and it's entirely unjustifiable.
I wouldn't have pegged Mae, in fact I would have hoped for quite the opposite.
I hated their drum solution (and them getting the points), but otherwise Mae was one of the best contestants ever and a big reason why series 15 was so great.
When you say, 'making themselves feel better.' , are you referring to the insecure with their hateful language or to Mae?
@@EricBrettJones the insecure. I may be many things, but I will not begrudge someone their right to be known by the pronouns they feel most comfortable with.
There are clear favourites from the show who keep showing up far more than others, more than the most recent series contestants

I love Mae, but I will never understand categorizing Mae's drum attempt as one throw when there were literally dozens of other throws and yanks in there. Absolutely crazy.
The task said single throw; I would categorize anything that Mae did after the initial toss were more of jerks, yanks, and swings.
It was categorised as a throw purely to enrage Kiell, and I support that

There were so many casts I loved so much, in fact pretty every cast. But the cast of Series 15 will always have a special place in my heart

Mae is arguably one of the best contestants ever, both in how they were amazingly entertaining and funny both with the other contestants and Alex + Greg, but also in that they are so clever and sneaky with the tasks and their definitions, and so gets so many classic moments. The pineapple task is a particular highlight for both these points. So good, so fun, and a shining star in one of the best groups of contestants there's ever been on the show

This very thing is why there is a growing backlash toward gender identity politics. (To be clear I often take a devil advocacy position, which means that what I argue isn't necessarily my personal feelings on the matter).

I liked Mae as I found them relatable, like they felt like a real person rather than a show-tye personality or TV figure.

@@stacktus9158 Just in case you weren't aware (I know English can be a pretty tricky language to learn for the first time!), 'they' can also be used as a singular pronoun - in fact, it occurs quite a lot in everyday modern English. For example, a very common usage would be for talking about someone who you don't know - e.g. if I saw someone post something online, I might say that 'that post of theirs was rather silly!'. Hope this helps - English can be difficult for a beginner, but with time, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it!

They were great. The S15 cast in general I thought was really good, carrying a series where I thought the tasks were some of the weakest across the entire show.

That seems to have been the opinion of Alex and the whole TM team for 17 series now.
It was always fun, when Mae did something inventive and there were really quite a few these genius moments. Mae deserved the win so much and I enjoyed them so much. Also Kiel was of course awesome in CoC but I really missed Mae and hoped I would see them on Taskmaster one more time.
An I the only one who would have liked the Champion of Champions 'sequel' to the Pinapple debacle included here?
Still really wish i saw them on CoC. I do really think Greg only let them have the drawn pineapples and ball on a string simply because he finds pissing Kiel off hilarious (in either case fair enough hes the TM)

Mae is a legend, but that was not a throw. Frankie couldn't bring himself to be too sincere about certain things, so he lost points. If he had tried to do it Dara O'Briain style, he could have won, I think. He was focused on good tv. Mae admitted afterwards, they wished they had been a little more focused on being funny. They certainly have the ability.
I love Kaiell, but we were robbed by not having more Mae on CoC.
Absolutely loved Mae, but that's not a single throw! Had they threw, reeled it in, and dragged the ball across the drums it would've been fine.

It is so funny when the feeble contestants think it is the logic they present that will result in points or not, when in fact it is how Greg felt about it right then and what he thinks will be better TV.

Alex has worn slippers during a lot of the indoor tasks for many years.
Kiell was great but I can't help but feel Mae was deserved of the win. They put so much effort into every prize task and every task in general.
Mae did win the season. Kiell just went to the champion show cause Mae couldn't make it.

Some of them were not so funny
Felt a bit disappointed by them considering the hype people had for them appearing on the show. I think Mae even stated that they didn't focus on the comedy that much early on. They seem cool and probably someone I would be friends with but they stuck out like a sore thumb on the series considering everyone else was bringing their A-game.
Nearly every series has someone that isn't exactly... I don't even know how to describe it... maybe in tune with the show? As the series went on they got a little better but I do think they just didn't bring the comedy that was a staple of the show at the point. Actually, thinking about it, the American version was pretty similar. A couple of funny contestants but some that didn't bring much to the table in terms of laughs. Most American reality shows are more competitive compared to English shows that are more performative.
I'm probably thinking about it too much but I still enjoy series 15, I just wish Mae had shown a bit more of the comedy that I've seen them do outside of the show.

The pineapple workaround still bothers me, I don't think it was in the spirit of the task. Just like Rhod with the lime in the sock, it doesn't feel right or clever, just a cheap cheat
I try to give everyone who appears on the show a chance, but I found Mae to be the most mind-numbingly boring person to ever appear on the show. Didn’t laugh at a single thing they said or did. Everyone else on this series was a delight, especially Jenny and Kiell.
