Did it cause him trouble? I actually felt really bad for him. I feel like they could have made some fake eggs for him with agar filling and a chocolate shell or something. You could see he was pained by the task.

For sure it was insensitive to give this task to a vegan though I imagine they probably learned a lesson from this one. It is odd that Romesh went through so many, and odd that he'd do it in the first place. Perhaps he felt under pressure, and ended up ironically taking out his frustration on the eggs by playing half-heartedly, or perhaps he just didn't have time to consider the implications fully. These egg tasks are fun, but the producers should be careful with these. A lot of people are vegans these days and food is expensive in the UK right now.
The task of moving the egg into the rgg cup without touching it, my 1st thought was to take the napkin out from under the rice and use that, the 2nd thought was to use the bread like the 1st 2 guys did and then the 3rd idea was the tacky stuff like the lady did

You know long before stopping it if it's hardboiled or not, it's kind of pointless beyond teaching kids about conservation of momentum. For simply checking if it's boiled or not, just spin it because you get the same result in reverse. It doesn't want to spin when you are adding that same energy that keeps it spinning when you stop it. Stopping it again suddenly is a good way to break yolks because the chalazae (the white stringy bits that anchor the yolk in the center) can easily tear the membrane. It will happen pretty much every time with a fresh egg. (I have 10 hens, I'm an egg dork apparently).
I find it funny that with five people, not one person went to an egg hatchery and asked to take a photo with every employee holding an egg to put on tv.

That implies to me that as soon as you touch one object that another contestant touched, all other objects you touch (whether another contestant touched them or not) would add an additional penalty.

I am not a vegan but I think you have missed the point. It isnt about whether or not they couldve been alive, the point is that it is not only an animal product that, in a vegans view, is still produced under animal exploitation, but the eggs were wasted for no good reason. Like, vegans probably would tolerate if others had to eat the egg, an actual nutritional use of it, even if they disagree, but just breaking them over and over to just be disposed of... you can see why to vegans this crosses a line no?
