    This week, my Good Job Podcast guest is comedian Mae Martin. Mae has accolades across different comedy genres, radio shows, a book and musical comedy. Most recently, Mae starred in 'Feel Good' a semi-autobiographical show about her life that she also wrote for Channel 4/Netflix.
    We discuss her battle with addiction, why honesty is important in comedy, how society perceives sex and gender and what it was like acting for the first time.

    Mae is so wise. I worry about the need to have separate rights legislation for all of the many marginalized cohorts within the human species. I long for the time when this need is eliminated by concerted effort to make human rights alone sufficient to protect everyone, in all cases. Requiring separate laws for each of these groups suggests that society does not think of them as human.
    Thanks, Beth, for a very interesting interview with a wonderful (human!) woman.

    That's very strange, Beth - the feeling of 'not doing it perfectly and having to continue'. For me it's the other way around. After a perfect show, for which I've rehearsed and advertised and and and...if it goes perfectly, well, I sort of want to die - there's nothing else to live for. This lasts for a day or so until a new idea enters my mind and shwuppdiewupp I'm at it again with renewed interest. This is the same with me and sex - or at least it used to be.
    Great show, thanks. h

      What a shame you have "nothing else to live for" in your life after your perfect show, what's it going to be like after your show life ends ? Better start putting a few plans in action now.

    It's OK to have nothing more to say; justification of one's own life is most definitely oversold. Imagine a world in which it's all been said! "23." "No I don't agree: 65!" 2 (2 means "love"), h.

    I love Mae Martin, but in what possible way is she middle class? Her aunt's aunt is literally the Queen of England.

    • @aspiringtentacle
      @aspiringtentacle 3 роки тому +4

      That's the beauty and curse of the term, anyone who's not filthy rich thinks they are middle class.
      Also it's only her aunt by marriage, there's no actual link between them.

    • @PeachPlastic
