Weight savings is supposed to equate to quite pounds per hp, so that’s a 7.5 hp gain from just the weight savings alone. I’m so jealous. That’s such a sweet setup.
I have a 6.0 on the stand right now that I’m building. I really want those aluminum ICON’s but I can’t justify the cost. Plus the wife will definitely balk at the $$
All that fancy packaging doesn't count for much if KDD leaves a bunch of detritus that can gouge those critical surfaces. Shame on them. You have a great channel. Your enthusiasm is awesome! Ive been going through all your old vids looking for how you mechanically and electronically did your egr delete. Did you ever film it? Ive got a reg cab competition truck in the works.
Those gotta be the most sexy heads I ever seen. A 6.0 revving over 7k is gonna be epic! lol The only thing I question is the porting on the intake runners. I'm not a master port guy or trying to say anything negative like im smart or something most my Knowlege on porting is just from youtube vids But the runners appear to be perfectly round and centered. So that means they removed same amount of material off the floor as they did the roof. I thought lowering the floor is a big no-no in porting? You raise the roof to increase volume But floor don't touch you loose velocity and may cause reversion. KDD should lone me a pair to try out
Q: Cody, have you ever used J&k engines in TN. I see mixed reviews. The builds are far more affordable than KDD. Im at a cross roads and dont know if i should should just piny up the money for a KDD long block
Yup. RCD kept changing ship date. Went from 6 weeks to a year. So I said screw it and canceled my order. Plan was to throw a short block in it this winter with 430/150s so ordered a warren dual kit and same issue. Have had enough of it.
Would have loved to get the Icon series. But I bought my iron heads from their "Blem section" for $1500. Couldn't pass it up. Either way KDD in my opinion makes some of the best heads for the 6.0.

I just ordered a set of race ported heads abt 5 weeks ago they said itd be 6-8 weeks excited to get them. While i have the cab off thinking about a stg 2 cam as ill have a lot torn off already. Any thoughts on if its worth it? Plan on going with a s476
Hey LLD. Please answer this. I installed the regular street port alluminum heads but from factory, the rocker boxes only come with 2 bolts that hold them on so I put them back in the same spot. What about the other two holes? Can u please verify that all the rocker box bolt holes go through the intake ports on the heads because I took my driver valve cover back off and the two open holes for the rocker box hold oil and only about an inch deep. I appreciate once u have a chance to reply.
You may need to get 2 bolts to fill those holes. Definitely will want to verify this before running the truck. Are your heads 20mm??? I know from the factory 20mm heads only utilized 2 rocker box bolts, so maybe kdd has incorporated this and they only need the 2….. I can’t say for sure, but should be relatively simple to verify.
@@LeftLaneDiesels thank for quick response. Yes I got have 20mm heads and I have been driving with them for about a month. I took my driver valve cover off and took out one of the two original rocker box bolts. I gauged it with a coathanger and it's about 3 inches deep. The other two open holes on the rocker box are only an inch deep and got oil in them so safe to say, they don't intersect with the intake ports but the the other original bolt holes where they're supposed to go do intersect. So I guess kdd did incorporate it into the head. I saw this vid last night and I had a mini heart attack because u said make sure all four bolts were plugged and I remember there only being two bolts per head but alls good.
They copied the improvements International made to the 6.4L heads to prevent the head from bowing with high combustion pressures due to the 4-bolt design compared to a 6-bolt design. Excessive spacing between the bolts. The stiffening ribs from the bolt stanchions to the injector placement, stiffening of the combustion chamber area, and stiffening on the intake side to the outer frame. Look at the 6.4L heads. I've bought replacement aluminum heads for small block Fords from Ford and Edelbrock; it is not normal to clean machining debris out of those heads. A local machine shop doing the work for you - yes, you have to do due diligence.
Dirt in the heads is not acceptable. I had similar problems with DK heads. I am still waiting 7 months for my KDD iron cast heads and more than 8 weeks for my ICONs. Looking at the chips, I guess I will have to clean the KDDs as well. ua-cam.com/video/65vxGbWHIUo/v-deo.html

Both versions of the Icon heads need the thread sealant on the bolts. Nice video man

Know the feeling. Waiting on 2 years for a hpop. Have had enough and about to sell my single cab. Patients have ran out.
Rcd thumper 2??
I opted to go with an early pump. Went with the diesel site early billet pump

Awesome video. I'm considering what heads I want. I like those big valves and that coating

Absolutely! I would a stage 2 for sure, that will greatly help with that size of a turbo.

I ordered these 6 months ago and still haven't seen them, the company doesn't seem like they have any answer

did you update to a cast iron oil pump
I stuck with the early hpop because the aftermarket options for the late style(thumper 2) are on back order. So I have a diesel site early billet hpop
Kinda BS to find shavings..You’d think KDD is better than that on the quality side before shipping
You must have copious amounts of experience.........
