God I am so fucking sick and tired of these brie larson loving beta soy boys who hate the Mcu. Fucking virgin probably wouldn't know a good film if it kicked him in the ball. As for the synder movies if they're so bad how come he got a 3 hour cut of justice league and the greatest scene in movie history belongs to the flash in the synder cut ? Why even bring up anything political in this video? it is a good example of modern entertainers thinking that anyone cares about their political opinions. When in reality it just alienates their potential audience, entertainers need to realize that they're nothing more than a dancing monkey for the viewers entertainment. Go fucking choke on your pumpkin spice lattes you pretentious libtard. No one wants to hear your left wing garbage.
Really awesome video! I feel like oversaturation is such a huge issue with the Marvel Cinematic Universe nowadays. I used to skip some movies and would still be able to follow what was going on in the movies I did watch, but they are making it very inaccessible to casual fans by having so many movies and tv shows come out in such quick succession. It makes me want to not watch any MCU media anymore
I'm a friend of Blue, heard about this project, and waited with anticipation to watch this! And I gotta say this was excellent! I agree and have a similar view of the state of the MCU and such. Muy bueno
Another excellent video, mó cara. Some very sad but accurate comparisons. Comic books, and it seems the MCU too, often share the same issue as soap operas - They're all prone to escalation. Eventually subtlety vanishes and everything just becomes a slightly different variation of the same recycled plot, blown up because the only way they can keep people hooked is to escalate. I especially like the shout about how Marvel unleashed their fanbase on Sony simply because Sony wouldn't bend over quick enough for them. Everyone seems to have forgotten how that actually went. I remember Jeremy Renner at the time getting in on it all on Twitter even. Strange stuff. I mean, two mega corps disagree, who gives af. But still, strange stuff.
@@Kevstreehouse Yeah, and it's bang on too. The Onslaught saga was another example of what you were talking about. A saga that took place across almost every monthly book. I mean it was epic and I loved it, but it was also a symptom of massive escalation in the narratives.
whats funny is when I posted the video people said that and black panther would correct the ship and this video would age poorly. Must be doing something right
I've rewatched this video multiple times the past few days cause it's the best expression of the sentiment I think a lot of us MCU fans are feeling. I've struggled to even keep up with half of what's come out in phase 4 because I normally like to sit with things for a long while and I'm just now finding out we're getting close to Phase 5. Not even really interested in most of their output anymore lmao but I hope the trajectory gets better soon (Daredevil: Born Again please be good please please please) also i noticed the channel name change and I think it suits you really well!
thanks for the kind words man really appreciate it. I'm hoping born again is good but hesitant at this point. After I finished this I actually started reading daredevil again cause I forgot how much I liked the character. thanks for noticing the name change. Too many people kept finding the NFL player when searching Kevin Greene
I don't understand much about comics, but it was a fun video :) Also, I agree that cultural production can, and does, convey lots of important ideas. But I think you should think twice before suggesting the forgiveness of genociders (20:00), independently if they swear they won't do it again, or had "sympathetic causes". Unfortunately, I'm not sure if there is a similar history in the USA (apart from colonization), but to live in a country that has experienced the brutal systematic extermination of tens of thousands of people, is infinitely more complicated.
I do live in one of those countries. I'm Irish. I wasn't saying they should forgive thanos but the avengers are essentially a private military force so to have them be allowed to just doll out executions without any authority is kinda terrifying in reality. I'm not saying they forgive thanos but he was crippled and wasn't resisting the avengers when they came. So it wasn't really heroic for thor to just murder him and the movie never condemns that action so its inadvertently saying that you should be allowed execute pows without repercussion which is not what any force should be allowed to do.
I really like this video. I have to say that I'm tired to watch so many heroes movies and TV Shows after I watched the last Avengers movie. That last movie was incredible, but after that I lost interest in MCU. I'm born in 1980 and in my country I read Marvel comics a lot. I read Marvel's Comics made in 1970 to 2000. After that I thought that the quality was declining and stopped buying comics. I went to watch animes and after that reading mangas. I think what you have said in the video was the problem: they made a model so rigid that creators can't create something more unique and interesting. I think the problem is the executives, like in game industry, executives create so many problems to the development of a game. They don't give creators freedom to dare making more interesting stories. Another problem was just as you said, there are too much films to watch. I don't have too many problems to identify Marvel Comics characters because I read the comics. If I don't watch some movies I'll remember the heroes from the comics. Well, I said too much, sorry if my english isn't good, I'm from Brazil. I really like this channel. I watched first your video about the History of Vanilaware. I'm a huge fan of the softhouse. I guess that if Marvel don't make movies as the same quality as Winter Soldier, Civil War, Endgame, they will have to reset the Multiverse, like Heroes Reborn or Zero Hour.
I agree with some of your points. Definitely eliminate the need to watch anything else aside from that film to understand what's going on. Making movies political doesn't necessarily help to draw in an audience. It can divide, and push half of your audience away. I would avoid any current politics. You need to have an interesting story that makes sense, with heroes pushed to their limits in some capacity to address it. Make the audience feel some genuine emotion for the hero(es), and you're really onto something memorable. For my taste, the good to excellent Marvel films have been Iron Man 1, Captain America (all three), Thor 1, Blade 1, The Punisher, X-Men 1 and 2, Spider-Man 1 and 2, Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Avengers 1, Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 3, Deadpool 1, and Logan. Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Punisher on Netflix were pretty great. DD was the best of the bunch. I haven't been tempted to try any Disney Marvel TV shows, and I thought Agents of Shield was overhyped mediocrity. Which is a pretty good description for my expectations for anything current from Marvel Studios.
These movies habe squeezed out so many genres that I pray since 2012 for them to die. The last drama movie I thoroughly enjoyed was Slumdog Millionaire. And since then I have to make due with heavily flawed ones like Inception, Interstellar or Skyfall. Or when did we get the last comedy action movie a family could enjoy like Back to the Future or Honey I Shrunk the Kids?
It certainly feels like it's in its death throes. Right now, they're throwing all kinds of shit at the wall in the hopes that at least something will stick and it's just one exercise in mediocrity after the other.
